    Thanks ladies!

TinaT- I'm actually not sure.  I don't think so though, I think he's just going to use it at the pre-op, but I'll ask him about that during the appt.  Thanks for the advice, I have browsed around that thread in the past but not a whole lot recently. I'll look into it.

I'm fortunate that I have a friend who (unfortunately) had a mastectomy and reconstruction by my same surgeons and she went through the whole get fitted and bring a bra to the pre-op appt too.  I asked her and she said hers were the same size post exchange as the expander she got fitted for, so hopefully my PS is able to make that the case for me too.  I just can't help but worry a little about things here and there, it would suck to have purchased all these new bras only to have them not fit in a few weeks.

I had a dream about my exchange last night, in the dream I woke up with a pretty flower tattoo already covering the incision site.  I remember thinking in the dream that that was a good idea, to tattoo while I'm still under anesthesia, but of course when I woke up I realized that wouldn't work, lol.  All the options are definitely a little overwhelming!

Shellshine.....your eyes look great! (even if you wear heavy violet eye shadowWink)....the incision on your eyes do not look angry at all.  Amazing!  Sound like you are happy about your exchange, even if you are huring from the pocket work and drains.

I have officially request my eye records, and should have them before I see PS in late May.  I am not sure but I may need a brow lift more, as my brow hangs below the eye orbit bone and impedes my field of vision, but I do have a lot of lose eyelid skin too, and bags under my eyes.....it was my FIRST clue that something was NOT right....told my hubby something is WRONG with me, but I don;t know what it is.....when I discovered I had cancer a month and a half later.   DAMN! it sucks getting OLD!

    Violet 1,

Do you have access to the picture forum? Many of the ladies on there have posted their stats along with their implant size and style. We could all tell you what we have, but until you see a picture of what they look like in relation to chest wall size, it's just a bunch of inches, implant styles and cc's. It helped me immensely to see someone that was my height (5'6") my weight (125) same chest size (29.5" just under expanders) and with the style implant I was considering and received (450cc mentor high profile). It takes a little time to match up with someone, but when you do, you can get a pretty good idea of what that implant could look like on you. Good luck!

I'm just back from my PS appointment with a "go" for May 16! She'll use Allergan style 45s, and will bring in sizes from 650 to 800ccs, which is exactly in line with what Whippetmom recommended. :). She'll do some fat grafting with lipo to my abdomen to fill in a dent on the left upper pole. Restrictions will be much the same for 4-6 weeks as they were at BMX, but she said I won't be nearly as sore and uncomfortable. Post op I'm to wear a men's tank undershirt (wife beater) with an ace bandage on top of it. That's the same as before, too. Isn't it interesting how different PSs have different routines?

So now I need to schedule my pre op physical and EKG. I've never had one.

    Yay!

CindyLooWho - Thanks for the feedback on the style 45's...I am glad to hear they worked out well...do they really feel much better than the expanders?  Wishing you the best with your upcoming revision!

cheryl e - Thanks for the information on the Mentor UHP's.  Sounds like we are in the same boat, as I am narrow chested as well.  My expanders are only 12cm, so the options are more limited on implants.  What size implant did you get and what is your size now?  Not enough projection seems to be a recurring theme, so I am hoping to find the best implant to avoid that situation.

ChiSharona, I had Mentor 275 expanders, medium height, 10.7 width, filled to 300. At exchange I received Mentor Ultra High Profile 480 cc's, 11.4 width and wear a 34 DD. The projection is wonderful, and I am happy. Sounds like you could even do the 535 cc's UHP. Best wishes!

Drains are out and surgical bra is in the trash! Woot! PS said I can wear any bra I want, as long as it doesn't have an underwire. Hope everyone else is healing well!

My 45's have PLENTY of projection. In fact I've had to give some of my clothes to my daughter because i can't manage to stuff the new girls in them. Lol.

Congrats, violet!  Isn't it a great feeling to know we've just about rounding this corner?  If you go to the top of the Implant Sizing thread, there are links for most of the common implant manufacturers and you can see the stats (height, width, projection) for the various models and sizes.

I thought of you, Dulcigirl, when my PS said this morning she might give me 800cc 45s.  lol  Its okay, I'm ready for some new clothes.  Can't wait!

Hey there Violet_1 we have surgery on the same day! I started to panic at the last minute too.  I've had my surgery date for three months but just didn't think about it until I received my paperwork from the PS office.  Whippetmom has given me good advice from the Breast implant sizing 101 forum though.  I am 5'3" 130 lbs (sometimes 135 depending on the day) and have bi-lateral expanders Allergan133MV-14T filled to 500cc.  I like the look I have now, but certainly do not want to appear any smaller when I'm done.  Whippetmom suggested I try Allergan 20 at 600cc, or Allergan 15 at 492cc to achieve the look I want.  I haven't posted my pre implant and expander photos yet; still waiting for access, but I will be sure to post where I'm at now and what the final result is after exchange.

    Just an observation:

I realized the other day that I no longer get the sharp stabbing pain in my arm pit like when I had TE's and walked down refrigerated or frozen food aisles in the grocery store!! Kind of like having a super bad headache and then realizing its just gone! Same with a muscle pain/nerve pain in my back between shoulder and arm pit! Pains just gone away with the nasty TE's!

For all of you with upcoming exchange surgeries: there IS light at the end of the tunnel (and its NOT an oncoming train)!

2ndtimearound--You've given me some hope that this pain will eventually go away!! I will say that my horrible under arm pains have mostly gone but I still have the very tight feeling like I'm wearing a bra 3 sizes too small but just over my MX side. Do you have that feeling at all? I'm doing alot of occupational therapy which has helped tremendously to get back my full ROM and get rid of the feeling that someone is ripping out my armpit. I'm now considering whether massage therapy would help with the tightness. Anyone else have continued tightness even after exchange surgery?

Hi Lala1 - There is light at the end of the tunnel.  2nd_time_around and I share an exchange date anniversary and my experience with the discomfort has been the same.  I woke up a couple days ago and realized that I'm no longer in pain or feeling any really discomfort beyond the internal itching from all the cutting and stitching (which you probably won't have to deal with if you have had a "normal" exchange...my exchange surgery took almost an hour longer than my BMX).  Once the swelling went down even the "too-small-bra" tightness went away.  Hang in there! It does get better. :)

Lala... I still have that feeling too. For me, it's the side my PS had to do the most work on; over a week ago I took a major slip at a store (water puddle on black concrete floor) and pulled that arm while I was holding the shopping cart (instant pain and swelling like immediately after surgery). I go today for PT eval, ROM not as bad as after mx but not back to normal yet. Have been hesitant doing exercises because it hurts so much on that side and don't want to create more problems. Am also wondering about massage too.

Hi Monica... Glad you're doing so well!

Hi 2nd_time_around, thanks! So sorry to hear about the slip. :( I hope the swelling resolves quickly, those unexpected little things can really throw a wrench in the works (got a "high five" about a week after surgery by some well-meaning acquaintance that brought me to the verge of tears).

I got the okay to start "gentle" massage at my last visit, but I have no clue what that means (all the videos online I've found are for cancer screening or augmentation...talk about a day late lol!).  Between the alloderm and the textured implants I don't think anything will be moving enough to massage for some time anyway so I've just been working on massaging the new incisions.

At the same appointment, I also was told it was safe to start ROM exercises with a resistance band.  The movement definitely seems to have helped with lossening things up, especially along the serratus on both sides.  The first couple days after the exchange, it felt like my arms were stapled down.

Each day the mental image of Sally from Nightmare Before Xmas presents itself less and less.

Random question.....do implants have a shelf life or expiration??  In other words, assuming there are no problems, are they in my body forever?  I'm 50 now, so will they be with me for the next 50 years????

What I remember reading in my Mentor Memory Gel booklet like everything, they do wear out.....will have to dig into my medical records to find my booklet....will give a more definitive answer, as soon as I find it.

There is a warranty too. Undecided

Just got home from PS, as I found I still had one suture sticking out of my body!

My ps says that the companies say its a 10 year life span for implants. But during her residency she saw women that had them for 20 years or more with no issues.

I have a friend that has saline implants over 20 years old and one just burst.
