I am as always WAY behind on this thread....but just to spread some hope--I was stage 3, triple positive, with 8 positive nodes, age 42, extensive nodal extension, and lots of cancer throughout the breast, no chance of lumpectomy - all back in 2009!! So it's not a death sentence, although as others mention here, I was obsessed with scouring the Internet and this lifeline of a site for hours a day for months on end. The answers FOR ME, have been green juicing daily, vegan diet, sauna, yoga and meditation. I am not militant about any of it - my head hurts today from drinking a few too many Michelob Ultra Hard Ciders laughing under the stars on a patio last night with good friends.

goutlaw I did not but that not an uncommon symptom of breast cancer. I think the reason why I didn't was the tumor was located closer to my chest wall… and my old girls were so small that if they indented they would be coming out my back

The dimpling happens because the tumor sticks to tissue holding the tissue in place when you raise your arm. This will all go away once the tumor is either melted by chemo and/or removed by surgery.

And, goutlaw, my understanding is if the blood can make it there, so does the chemo. And drinking fluids and exerciseing helpbit get there, and help it leave your body, via all the ways Lago pointed out.

Hi, I read alot on this sight but haven't posted very much. What are the chances of getting Multiple Sclerosis after Breast Cancer? Because I think I have it, here are some symptoms: Sensory disturbances, overactive reflexes, vision disorders, weakness in limbs, abnormal patterns of speech. Flare ups happen with stress. On my worsed episode I thought I was having a stroke, All of my muscles lock up and froze I was totally paralized and could not talk. My DH called 911. It lasted for about 15 min. then slowly got better. Has anyone else had this experience? I am getting tested for it, I get a spinal tap, MRI, see a neurologist. Lucky me!!!

Miss Live2....I was diagnosed with MS....then undiagnosed....I am a bit of a medical mystery in the autoimmune disease department. ?.MS seems to be hard to pin down unless you have very telling signs....the spinal tap will help tell.

Live to---When are u geting this test--I hope it has nothing to do with MS--I know there could be other reasons, I was taken by ambulance with very similiar syymtoms last year, I was paralized and it was awful and very scary. but mine was from extremely low electolytes--which I never thought it was so extreme alot of the same things were happening to me--but I'm sure they did a complet panel on u. But that's why I'm saying their are other things this can be and I truly hope it is some stupid thing that they can just fix.  

Live2, the spinal fluid testing isn't really that definitive (neither are the other diagnostic tests used for MS).  I used to read those gels when I worked in pathology.  What you are looking for is to see if there is a break down in the blood brain barrier, so you want to see if there are proteins in the spinal fluid that shouldn't be there.  Many times we wouldn't see any odd proteins, so we'd report no evidence of disease, only to see the patient back again later.  They could still have a normal test.  It was annoying for the physicians, but it was about all we had to give them.

Hopefully you aren't dealing with MS.  Keep us posted.

Had my first mammogram since diagnosis this morning - all clear, thank goodness. I actually thought squishing the lumpectomy boob was less painful than the "good" one. I also saw my breast surgeon this morning for my one-year follow-up. I explained that I had kept my hair by using cold caps, and he was really upset that he had never heard of them, despite having weekly meetings with the oncologists across the street (where they are set up with a private room and medical freezer for cold caps). He said "this is really important" to so many women whose first question is "will I lose my hair", and some of whom decline chemo because of that. So I think my breast surgeon will be bringing it up at their next weekly meeting! I firmly believe all women should at least be informed about cold caps, and be allowed to make their own decision on whether or not to use them. (I found out about cold caps through a friend's sister, not from medical personnel.)

PatinMN, does this work for only infusion chemo? I will be taking chemo pills on a daily basis, so I guess this isn't applicable for that? Thanks.

Granna1948, yes, the cold caps are only for infused chemo. 

I was suppose to start Herceptin today after completing Chemo 3 weeks ago. No more Herceptin for me. Had a test for my heart and it went from 65% to 42% In just 3 months.



Mixed emotions about not being able to go the entire year with Herceptin.

The good news is they are sending me to a cardiologist to work on reversing the damage.



Onward to radiation in a couple of weeks.

Soccrmom don't worry about the Herceptin and get the numbers up. What a rat race this is.

OK I read the article, I agree with Moon, they put actual money into this. I mean if they mention liver mets they might have been able to make a case of some sort--but it wasn't mentioned--who gave money for this grant to see if alcohol is related. I know more drunks that died of old age and no disease than sober people. That's one of the reasons I don't read many studies, everyone is guessing because in 2 or 3 yrs, there is another study that eliminates the previous one. Besides it is what it is. So drink up--Cheers
