Alaska, I struggle all the time in my job when FDA asks for a control group. We have a bone marker (blood test) that shows efficacy/compliance of/with bisphosphonates in women with osteopenia and osteoporosis. FDA wants us to enroll recently diagnosed women and randomize them to a control arm of women not receiving bisphosphonates. Huh?? There isn't an IRB in the US that will approve that study.
I know what you are asking to see, but like I said before, I just don't see how it can be done. And the subcutaneous administration of herceptin is in the works for the US patients, but it still is administered as often as the IV drug.
At the same time, after seriously suffering through chemo (I'm stage 1 and I will never forget how awful that was) I do totally agree with what you are saying. Absolutely! It's just that since the Nuremburg trial, how can we do it?

pbrain, it is good to have a horse in there who had chemotherapy. Maybe the best answer would be to require all IRB members to be past recipients of breast cancer chemotherapy?

ChickaD enjoy your cruise!
Specialk, congrats on 3 years. Pbrain, congrats on 1. Marissa glad you finished with chemo.
Someone gad a PCR so wonderful to hear. (If I go back a page ill have to retype. Sorry)
Ang if you need something to help you, take it.No one knows what we face and sometimes we need some help. Even if its changing a med rather than adding a new one. But let your MO know you are having problems. Weird, but mine hasnt learned to read minds yet. Whats up with that? LOL
Much love to all.0 -

Gout, I had taxotere and my hair was growing in just a bit. But really started to grow when I was on Herceptin only. But it was thin. But it was hair. Much love.

So gals, I have not posted in a while. Update- finished chemo 7/11. Finished radiation 9/11. Still taking herceptin every 3 weeks. MUGA scans still looking good. Heart is 74%, which I am told is great. Hope I can last until my proposed June end date. Hair is coming in nicely. My hairdresser says another 1/2 inch and she can slap on some color. I should be sporting a nice pixie by Thanksgiving or Christmas. I never lost my eyelashes or eyebrows because I used Latisse religiously. Even my Onc was surprised.

Gigif, congrats on finishing the hard parts! 73% EF gives you a LOT of leeway for Herceptin. I started at 59% which my MO told me wasnt bad. But I ended up below 45% and they pulled me from Herceptin after my 2nd Herceptin only tx. I am glad your hair is coming in. and I only lost my eyelashes and eyebrows right AFTER I finished chemo. LOL. Much love.

Hello Everyone,
I have not posted in quite sometime and find it hard to keep up with the pace of this thread. My last chemo was May 9th and I completed 33 rounds of radiation. I'm still on Herceptin every three weeks, and if I can stay on schedule, I'll finish in January 2014. So far, my MUGA scan has stayed in the 50's the last three times so I'm hoping that stays good. I have also started Tamoxifen, which causes all kinds of moodiness with me so I'll have to consult my Onc about it.
While reading this thread, I noticed how remarkable all of you woman really are! Some of you hold prominent positions in large companies, some are teachers, some are self-employed, and some of you are busy raising your children (which is a full time job that never ends). I applaud all of you for sharing your stories and faith with all of us. I'm blessed to have all of you who post and share your knowledge that help with questions I don't always ask, but I always get an answer by looking here.
It's unfortunate that others will be diagnosed daily, but I often refer others to this website for research and support. Keep posting ladies, your needed!
I'm praying for all of you,

Ang please call you MO now. Or go to ER. Or call your local help line. You have a lot on your plate and you obviously need help. Please get it. It could be the tamoxifin or just situational but everybody needs help sometimes. You need it now. Its not right or wrong it just is. Are you getting enough sleep or even any? Many of us had to get some kind of help while dealing with this or something else. At the very least reach out to someone nearby and go visit or ask them to come over. Please take the step to get help now. You are in my prayers, much love.

Ang Please call someone right now. This is so difficult and hard to do on your own. Like moon says call your mo, er help line or a friend. We're here to listen or help. Don't stay alone. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh Ang.. so very sorry about your daughter, but as I recall she moved out once before and came back home,so don't give up. Please take the advice that the others have posted. PLEASE take care of yourself. Praying that you get some help and tomorrow will be a better day. Hang in there Ang..we love you..

Ang, I agree with others, get someone to talk to asap and see if some other type of med may help you. I also wonder if you are getting good sleep. It is so important to our mental health.
And I'll say this--this too shall pass. I see you and your daughter in the mall shopping for baby clothes in 5 years. :-) Keep doing your best to know that this is temporary and that you and she will be buddies again. It is just a rough patch. She loves you. I promise, because you seem to be very very lovable.

Ang: I agree with the others. Seek help. I too remember that your daughter moved out once before. You CAN get through this with the right support network. We are here for you but I think you need someone other than us. We wish you well!

Wow ladies. I'm trying to read back. What's wrong with me, I haven't fallen or tripped...I do worry when out on the trail running though because I've fallen prior to treatment and SOO cautious.
Congratulations SpecialK on 3 year!

Ang pease take the advice from all--u need help now, call someone. Believe it or not things are always changing and changing is good when it goes full circle. And it does. This could all be from meds u don't know so please find out. Please don't think about the unthinkable think about how this will change for u. Please.

Ang,
From all the posts you can see we're all thinking about you. Please talk to someone, it will help sort things out in your head for you. As others have said, it could well be your meds making you feel like this and a slight adjustment/addition of something could make all the difference. Please come back and let us know how you're doing. We care.
