hi everyone
Up with mild queasiness so ginger chew in mouth and warm cat on my lap. It's been snowing for two whole days here in Oregon!! Howza...this area is paralyzed.. Happy to have heat and a pot roast in the fridge.
I love all the cat pics..and adore the Cardinal photo. Living back East, cardinals became my forever favorite bird...the sight of even one would make a dismal winter day bearable:)
I admit to having sympathy pangs 're: colonoscopies...a necessary evil with 'sound effects'

Velvet my tummy just hurt when u said colonoscopy, (the drinking) When I just had one and not the up and down, I didn't want to be put out and it was absolutely like nothing and I watched the whole (get it hole) thing and the best part was as soon as it was over I could get up and leave cuz they didn't have to wait to make sure about the stuff they use to put u out. And I liked that part, I got wheeled out and they said goodbye. It was easier than the drinking.

Rabbit,
A cat in my lap has pulled me through some tough times too. I have my old guy Wesley (18) in my lap now. Although the cold we have in San Antonio is nothing to compare to what all of you are going through, the 20's are plenty cold for us. The four cats stay in "kitty loafs" all day and their ears are always cold when they see a lap and jump up.
The pot roast sounds perfect. I think I'll copy your idea, then curl up for the rest of the day with a blanket, a book, a cup of tea, the Olympics and, of course, a kitty.

Survived my prep & colonoscopy, and I must say the prep, prep drink was not to bad...it was TWO 6oz bottles of prep solution, a plastic cup that had a 16OZ line indicated.......
at 5pm take one bottle pour it into the cup and add cool water to 16Oz line, DRINK (gag), then drink TWO glasses of cool water in the "special" cup within the hour...I drank it all within 10 minutes.....at 15 minute....WOW!!!!.....done in less than an hour.....
then at 2:30 AM
bleary eyed....take 2nd 6 oz bottle of prep solution mixed with water to 16 oz line and the two cool water 16oz chasers.... then done drinking ANYTHING!I found the absolute worst part was not eating anything solid from Wed evening until Fri after procedure.as I usually eat something about every 2-3 hours
The IV nurse tried to use tagadern (highly allergic) which was noted in my records and again with pre-op nurse that was taking care of me..... until I said NO tagaderm!!!....they used paper tape.
I also found the blood pressure cuff on my left arm two times....taken off in pre op and back on in OR....until I sat up on the OR table and said NO.....then they finally put the BP cuff on my leg at the ankle.....before I relaxed and noticed a giant of a man right behind my butt, when I was told to lie on my side, pull up my legs....(doc was still scrubbing, so she was not in OR yet).....so big MAN had a "coochie/butt view"
....then IV nurse I was told to relax and the med for my sleep was beginning....night -night!Woke up....wide awake......dressed myself, given juice 2 times, put in a wheelchair and rolled out to the parking garage pick up spot..
Husband was given a beeper with the flashing red lights. He had gone to the cafeteria while waiting for me to be done, with the beeper, and said he felt like he had a "Table for 1" with the beeper in hand, and he was instructed to go to a certain place in the parking garage when it when it was beeping/flashing and I would be right out, which i was....
by 9:30am.....and eating by 9:45am.....and continued to eat a LOT all day yesterday. B_U_R_P!!!!
GOOD NEWS...no cancer....bad news diverticulosis all over (no diverticulitits at this time) ....I was given 3 color pictures of the lovely "pockets" in my colon.
Mommarch------oh My....the sight of your naked man....losing it all out his abdomen is not a pretty picture!.....great story....
Cami-------you make me laugh, luv ya!

What we all go through in the pursuit of good health.......
Di...I also got the diagnosis of diverticulosis (they had to use a pediatric scope to see) but my doc reassured me that does not indicate that I am more inclined toward colon cancer..whew
Sandra.. I don't know what I would do without my cats. I've been divorced for a while and the tactile companionship is vital to me....or course, I couldn't get along without hugs from my granddaughter and daughter either but my cats are always here. I used to know a wonderful woman at church who was known as the official hugger. She was alone and decided that she ( and we all ) needed hugs every Sunday . At her memorial, the church was packed to the rafters and the atmosphere was full of love.

Di it's certainly not a horrible test but it's so nice when it's all over, I've had worse tests but for some reason this one is always like no no not my ass again. So now they found Divut. (sp) so now what and reabbit u have it too. We all have the same crap, that none of us seemed to have when we started all of this,
Rabbit I love to cuddle when I finish with my GS then I go to my cat and it's all so calming. And what a nice memory of u'r friend.

Been away for a couple of days doing extra work. Will also be there for a while tomorrow and then doing something else for a bit after that. The pay will be good.....so I have to just hang in there.
I'll be getting all straightened out soon and just doing my regular days.
Blessings

Di, glad to hear your colonoscopy is "behind" you....

I did not think the prep was as bad as I imagined. I also had endoscopy while under...when I awoke, I had a cut swollen lip and a purple bruise on my arm that was huge. I wonder what really happened.
No fur baby here to keep me warm....still thinking about adopting one...Jackie, extra work...sounds like a good opportunity. Hope all is OK on the job.
Stay warm ... more snowflakes here tomorrow.

Joan,
Glad to hear you are thinking of giving a homeless cat a forever home. We've done this for all 44 years of our marriage and gotten back so much more than we ever thought. If you get young cats, I have found it's much better to get two. They comfort each other when you are away and have each other to play with. They just seem more content. My oldest daughter adopted a 3 year old former street tom cat from a Chicago shelter. They were getting along well but he was still wary of everything. She decided he needed a friend and adopted a 6 week old look alike kitten. Within a week, they were more than buddies. My daughter saw the older one, Joshua, come full circle. Joshua began to groom the baby, Toby, sleep next to him, and they played all day. It's wonderful to see the "old" guy have a childhood he probably never had on the street.

Sandra that is so sweet to hear how the cats got along. And u too, that a long time to rescue--I've only been doing it a couple of times so far, but that's where we get out pets and they've all been the nicest and best ones. Enjoying them so much.
Joan a swollen lip?????????? Hmmm what went on there, u must have bit them and they just slapped the heck out of u. I had a tiny, tiny scratchy throat that's all, u had quite a time with them.

Morning ladies,
It snowed here all day yesterday, today is sunny but cold and we will be below 0 tonight. Wishing for spring.
Love the cat pictures and stories. I raised two cats when I was younger along with a dog. I became allergic to the cat and dog dander so I had to give up the cats since I can not breath around them but I am okay with the dogs so we my dogs are my fur babies.
I am so in the mood to go out and do some shopping but I can not get motivated today to do much of anything especially going out in this cold weather.
Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Cami....love the 'happy cat' pix. Luckily my 2 cats play with the pills I've dropped...they've never eaten one.
Joan For the endoscopy you would have had a rubber mouthpiece in place....I expect you probably were waking up and fought a bit, hence the mouth and big bruise. Last colonoscopy, I woke up with sore arms and a couple days later I could see the outline of someone's fingers in the bruising.
Jackie.. don't work too hard
termite; I've been housebound since Thurs because of a freak snowstorm. I can't wait for my daughter to make her daily visit....I have cabin fever bad!!

Colonoscopy talk, one of my favorites! NOT! The prep is the worst part though I'm usually awake and watch on the monitor, not bad and interesting. Here they give you juice and a muffin after. Have had a few and only found 1 polyp once, though I do seem to have IBS-d. Hate living my life around where the next bathroom is! Hated Hawaii, no bathrooms on the tour buses. That's the first question I ask. At our hospital they put a bracelet on the arm warning no IV/BP in that arm.
More snow for this afternoon/evening, though we aren't supposed to get much. Then more forecast for Thurs!
Cam, love the kitty picture. We have 1 furbaby. Our last was 21 when we lost her, then the next year our doggie died. Hubby said no pets, as we travel too much. I lasted 2 weeks and finally convinced him to get a kitty. Guess whose baby she is. Follows him everyplace!
Hope they are right and we don't get much snow tonight. Take care.

Bonnets it is interesting watching it, cuz I'm awake too and it doesn't hurt but the prep is what's wong with the whole (hole) thing.

We share
with all life the capacity for feeling, the experience of having a body, mind,
and heart in continual interface with countless other bodies, minds, and
hearts. Our capacity to feel deeply means we share with all life the
possibility of experiencing delight, joy, trust, and intimacy, just as we share
in the capacity to experience pain, sorrow, grief, and fear. Living within a
physical body, we all share the experience of aging, frailty, illness, and
death, just as we share the precious times of strength, health, safety, and
vitality. Through our minds we share the capacity to experience confusion,
agitation, and complexity, just as we share the possibilities of serenity,
clarity, and balance. An understanding of this profound interconnectedness of
all life is at the root of the compassionate heart dedicated to alleviating
suffering without reservation or exception.

Home again, home again. Nice to have my work week done. Well, it wasn't really as such. Normally, I work Tues. and Thurs. for maybe 3 hours --- then Sat. night for maybe 3. This week....Thursday night I got a call to come Friday at 2 p.m. I stayed until 8 p.m. Then Sat. morning at 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Then this morning 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. I did good and can sure put the extra funds to good use.
As for kitties.....we had them for many years. When Dh and I married people would accept cats when we rented but did not want dogs. I came to think it was more that they felt dogs might "bother" the neighbors around with barking or something......cats can be far more destructive in a house than dogs.....but whatever. So, we had cats all of our married life until we moved back home here. I don't think I'd be happy without at least one dog and cat. But then, I've never had just one and one......multiples, always. I'd like that to change sometime. Too hard to keep up here.
Hope you all have stayed as warm as possible. We have had a couple of almost nice days but back into the deep-freeze tonight I think....sigh !!!!! I'm weary of winter, but it beats the alternative.
Hope you all had a good week-end.
I'll see you all later.
Blessings,
Jackie

DD goes into rehab tomorrow morning. Don't know what I will do with the phone not ringing off the hook all day. She calls me 7 to 10 times a day. My Grandmother did the same thing with my Mom.
I hope she can get clean and stay that way. All that has happened breaks our hearts.
DGD seems to being doing OK.
Weather today was great, but will be changing by Tuesday. Like they say if you do not like the weather in TX just wait 5 minutes and it will change.
Hope all are well
Hugs

First line of Cam's post....**what she said**. Momarch --- I bet everyone on this forum has their fingers crossed. Such difficult paths for so many. Just hoping and praying....you reach a stage with things that it becomes all you have.
Brrr....abut 8 degrees outside. Thank goodness no wind so while I can't say it's anything likable or enjoyable, it is far easier to do the outside chores. Had extra this a.m. too. Had some catch-up tacked on from the past couple of days when working.
See ya'll later. I bet Carole is having a grand time.
Blessings,
Jackie

Sandra, I love your post about reading! I have had more time to read down here and I've finished the last 2 John Grisham books....The Racketeer and Sycamore Row. Wow! Both were great! Now I'm reading another David Baldacci book, but I'll read just about anything.
Oh cami....I loved the Beatles! I still have some of their albums.
Jackie....YAH for the extra work!
Well our house deal fell through so it looks like we will be renting in Florida again next year. It would have been nice to have our own place but I think this was meant to be. This way we can come down, enjoy a nice vacation home for a few months and then leave without any of the worries. We've decided that we're staying 3 months next year. My joint problems have improved with the warmth and the sunshine and I'm so much more active. I wish I could say that I've lost weight but it's quite the opposite. We spent the first 3 weeks visiting all the good places to eat and now I need to get back to healthy eating while my shorts still fit!
Hugs to all of you. I hope that most of you are getting a little reprieve on the temps and snow. This year has been unbelievable!

DD called at 7:00 this morning all packed and ready to check in. DGD has not seen her Mom and refuses to.
It was 75 today, but to get cold tonight and tomorrow. The estimate on DH truck is !,651. He talked to a friend who is a mechanic and he is afraid there might me damage to the frame, transmission, and rear end also that will not be found. Back to the drawing board.
We decided to let our Dish Network go. We are getting movies from the Library, and can get the news on the NET. The price for what you actually get is ridiculous. We lived here for 3 years with out it. It is nice not to have all the crap with the news.
Everyone be safe and warm

Mommarch whatever u know please keep us up on this==we all care,
