When you live in the present moment, time stands still. Accept your circumstances
and live them. If there is an experience ahead of you, have it! But if
worries stand in your way, put them off until tomorrow. Give yourself
a day off from worry. You deserve it. Some people live with a low-grade
anxiety tugging at their spirit all day long. They go to sleep with it,
wake up with it, carry it around at home, in town, to church,
and with friends. Here’s a remedy: Take the present moment
and find something to laugh at. People who laugh, last.

DD is home, she is going to do outpatient. She will have to be at the facility at 8:00 AM untill 4:00 PM and do 2 evening AA meetings every week. She has always been afraid of people. When she was little we would go to church and sunday school and not to long after sunday school would start she would be in our class sitting on her Dads lap. The first time she went to confirmation camp I thought she was going to run off the van, she stayed and had a great time.
She said all the women in her dorm did was fight and argue.
Have a good day need to get my rats killed

mommarch, hoping your DD finds the outpatient program better than the inpatient one. Hearing the constant arguing must have been hard on your daughter.

Mommarch we're all rooting for u'r DD and GD--keep us posted.

Jackie, I recommend that everyone read and re-read your quote...so true about carrying that anxiety and missing the moment. I think there is something in there forall of us, and for Mommarch and DD...can't look too far down the road (I've said before) we can't see that far anyway.
Mommarch, maybe the fact that DD was happier without others will give her strength to ignore the bickering and focus on her recovery. It is all about her now. Hug and prayers...
For those of you in the 80s, please enjoy! (in other words, stop rubbing it in!
)
Snow here today, on top of snow, on top of snow.
Jean, I cannot even picture your huge snowfall on top of your old snow. How do you even shovel or plow that stuff?Chevy, by now, I am figuring you are on line feeling the love -- and keeping the staff on their toes. Here's to a quick recovery. You are one strong lady and you will soon be dancing. Hugs!

Hi all, Just stopping in to say "Hello"!

Oh Chevy...I am so sorry. I am sending good healing vibes and hugs your way.
I, too, had some excitement this week. I had my first ride in am ambulance. I got up in the morning with a backache and put some topical cream on it. I made the coffee and got the cat's breakfast ready. I leaned over to put down Pearl's food on the floor and couldn't get up. The pain was the worst I've ever had and I seemed to be frozen. My back had gone out. Dave helped get me to my feet and I stood leaning against the counter. The next thing I knew, I had passed out and was on the floor and Dave had called 911. They took me to the hospital and gave me pain meds by IV. I am doing better now but am still not walking quite upright. Too bad Chevy and I don't live closer. We could keep each other company while we heal. This getting old is not always so much fun.
Carole, so glad you had a good trip. We will look forward to pictures!

ritajean, your back episode sounds scary. Hope you will heal quickly while moving carefully.

I'm 66 and just about done with rads and will start arimidex after that. This might be a good place to continue the journey. Seems I already recognize some folks here from other threads. Hello all!

Hello and welcome Miminiemi.

Hey Mimi, welcome to the most supportive thread in this forum.
Rita, oh no! I can't imagine having so much pain that you pass out. You poor baby. What do your doctors say?
Dwill, pretty picture. Wish we could grow hydrangeas in San Antonio. Can't grow gardenias or azaleas either.
Joan, we are not in the 80's anymore so I can't rub it in anymore. We were 94 yesterday and have the air conditioning on now!

OK, this isn't San Antonio, it's Florida, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Mimi welcome, welcome. Come on in, grab a seat, put your feet up and let us sit around the beautiful fireplace with its roaring fire and a cup of coffee or cocoa or whatever. It may be cold out.....but a whole bunch of great hearts keep this place warm and cozy.
Rita....can't believe it. I was nearly jumping out of my skin ( two of my bestest buddies here ) by the time I finished reading your post. Whew !!!!! Glad Dave got you to the hospital. I'm told ambulance rides are actually no fun at all and I can imagine with a strained back that would be very, very true.
Sounds like you have some "work" to go yet. Sounds indelicate to bring it up right now but are there exercises that would help your muscles and tendons or whatever we have in back to support you so hopefully this would not happen again. I sure do hope that you can get a good handle on it before you have to make your way back to cold country.
I'm ready to do an Indian " No More Snow Dance " by the light of the moon or something. We are due to warm a bit, and I hope it is enough to work a lot of the snow out of here.
I must say...the snowmen pictures are funny.
Chevy is her bubbly self and having a good time cheering up her nurses and making them laugh.
Worked until 10 p.m. and feels good to be home. On the highway ( it runs through town ) I glanced to my right as I was driving along and there was a big buck in the dark......thankfully ( there were other cars behind me ) he turned tail and headed back for the woods. I would have hated it had he made it out on the road.
See you all in the morning. It is about time for me to stop making sense.
Blessings
Jackie

Jackie, glad you made it home OK. I also drive home late and I am always scanning the sides of the roads for deer. I have had several encounters but no contact.
Sandra, love the snowman/sandman ... AC on?...wow. I can't even imagine.
Ritajean, so sorry to hear about your back and your emergency trip. I hope you will recover quickly and learn how to prevent repeating that event! Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.
The snow has stopped here...I hope that's it for awhile. My car is completely covered with thick fluffy snow...I have no desire to go anywhere!

Chevy -- So sorry for your fall. Wishing you a speedy recovery. You seem to be on that road already. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

Hi Mimi--funny funny lalalalala Mimi I can't remember the words. It's really better that way for all of u.
I'm up to early, my Katie-Kat slept on my with her front legs and back legs spread all over s our Dog couldn't really get to close--they are sneaky in their clever way--So that means I'll be sleeping on and off all day--and I hope I get no calls today--yesterday I was busy for the most part and trying to organize times for people-ick I don't like that--just take a message and that's it--it's my fault cuz I have a big mouth and it's gotten so my emails are like I write here so the guys actually email me back, never should have started this chit. Nobody bothered me before. Oh well.

Nature always takes
her time. Great oaks don't become great overnight. They also lose a lot of
leaves, branches, and bark in the process of becoming great.

Great morning here. Had to work outside a bit longer this morning.....but the nice thing about living in the country is that I can throw a coat over my pj's and head outside. The pj's are already "warmed" up and likely a little warmer even than a lot of my clothes. No sun out, but then, heck......it won't be long and spring will begin. Payday last night and that always puts me in a good mood.
Truth is.....when I wake up and find another brand new day, I just almost always feel wonderful. Even if I have nothing planned. Sometimes I wonder "did" I always do that......or am I still having a reaction from the "doom and gloom" period so long ago when I first learned my diagnosis. I do think there are a lot of stops and starts in our lives. I do think though, overall, I am a lot more grateful because I feel I am more mindful of the "gift" of life. One day in 2007 I thought the "gift" might not last --- and knew I had not given it, its due. I have now a "do-over" and that is what keeps me going and attempting to find something special about every day.
Hope you all have a fantastic Sunday. Love and hugs and healing energies to all those who need some and lighter ones for all who are doing ok right now.
mommarch.....thinking of your DD and sending her lots as well.
Blessings
Jackie

Sas, thanks for the wonderful news about Chevy.

So glad that Chevy is going home!!!!! YAH!
Cammi....They did an EKG, a chest x-ray, blood tests which all were fine. They could actually feel the muscle spasms so they gave me pain killers in an IV and sent me home with a painkiller and muscle relaxant. I am doing better. I walk very cautiously and bend by bending my knees. I don't sit very long and seem to do better when I'm moving so we have been doing alot of walking. They did attribute the passing out spell to the pain.
I imagine that there are exercises I can do to strengthen the muscles but since I don't have an actual doctor down here, I will wait until I get home and get working on this. It's a long ride home so I need to work on getting these spasms GONE!!! I got into the heated pool today and just walked slowly and that seemed to help, too.
Welcome mimi....you've found a nice place to stay!
Sending warming thoughts to all of you that keep getting hit with the snow and the cold!

Sas, thank you much for the reports on my good friend Chevy. She's a tough lady. Looking forward to hearing from her.
Rita, what a horrible experience! Do let us know how you're doing.
DH says our winter is over. Hope he's right. Also hope it stays cool for quite a while. We enjoyed a beautiful spring-like day with sunshine and low 70's. I'm hoping for no rain the next couple of days so the golf course will be 90 degrees (you can drive your cart on the fairway) on Wed. for Ladies Day golf. It will be like a new sport since I haven't played golf since Dec.

Thanks for all the welcomes! More snow after the sleet expected at 4 am for us. I have three more rads to go so am headed late tonight to sleep at a friends house in the town where the cancer center is. It's only 25 miles, but that can be long on icy roads. My big dog gets to go, too. She is a bigger than normal golden retriever. So much for the gals always being smaller when choosing a puppy or anything else. After retirement I went to school to bea clown. I'm celebrating that rads are almost done and I accepted the first clown gig since diagnosis. WaHoo!

Yay Mini....that's the spirit. I think it helps so much when something is not right with us, to just be able to go out and in some way give of ourselves. Just seems to me...a "clown" could really have an excellent opportunity of doing this....it is a way to get away from ourselves -- but we aren't really going anywhere.....just expanding our soul and by enhancing others in some way....we enhance ourselves.
Yuk for the weather though. Don't know a better way to say it. We will be warming, starting tomorrow. Hmmm, I can't wait. I love winter but this one has been brutal...no other way to describe it. So, I'm looking for some nice days ahead.
Rita....I'm so glad the crisis seems to be past. I do know from my muscle strain mid year last year that though we have probably worked towards the event for some time, it does seem to come out of the blue. Makes it a little harder to understand. I do think ( I'm bad because I haven't started ) that we -- I'll just say hmmm maybe 'retired' ladies probably should have some strengthening exercises to do at least every other day.
I have a "Move" book from the V.A. and it is a whole book of exercises geared toward the senior generation. I think it is probably time for me to get it out and "study" it a bit. I do get a walking pass at our local Rec Center. They have a suspended walking track and as you are inside.....it makes it nice in this super bad weather to not miss out on 'some' exercise.
Carole...here's hoping for great "golf" weather for you. Then you can get some great exercise too. Hoping your Dh is feeling great. Was thinking about your having to shorten your time away this this past summer. Of course, I need to admit that you told us...but as is my usual, it didn't stay with me. Sigh !!!
Sandra, Sally, Cammi, Dwill, and momarch barbarella,, and anyone I haven't mentioned....I'm thinking about you. Thinking about Regbeach and her mom and hoping all is well with them. Haven't heard for a long time now.
I'll be looking in tomorrow.
Blessings
Jackie

Mimi, how exciting to be a clown! Let us know how that first gig works out.

Isn't this a beautiful photo? My friend Pam is becoming quite a photographer. She took this with a telephoto lens from the back porch of her family farm in Iowa. I was thrilled that she had it blown up and framed for me.

Sandra, the photo is terrific ... snow and all ... love the way the orange stands out.
Jackie, the inside track sounds good to me ... I wish there was one near here.

RitaJean I suggest you get a dvd made for those with back pain.. pelvic tilts help as well as lying on your back and bringing both knees up as high as they will go comfortably & hold for a good gentle stretch. I've also found that ice to the area helps when the pain is acute. Later heat helps a lot....microwave packs or heating pad. Since you are moving a lot, try the stick on heating pads..Thera something. They last for up to 12 hrs.
