Rozem cysts as we know are internal cysts. I had 4 in my liver when I was diagnosed. My onc scanned them for 2 years to be sure they weren't cancer. Some remained stable and 1 disappeared. Ovarian cysts are not uncommon and usually go away on their own. They watch them but if you are feeling discomfort they probably will remove it. I don't believe they take the ovary... and Yes it could be the damn Tamoxifen: linky

    Sorry to hear about Dad.

One more thing. I know you guys like studies. This just posted on Dr. Susan Love's facebook page:

When I got my down the throat and up my ass I did have my port acsessed for that to put me out. When I just had my colonoscopy I wasn't put out and I wanted to send my pictures as some Christmas cards with O Wholy Night--but my kds took them away from me so I couldn't send out just a few to people who wouldn't take offense.

    Cami funny.

Rozrm. My sister has cysts on one of her ovaries caused a lot of pain and she had it removed. That was before she had her 3 kids. No cancer just cysts. Guess it just happens. Much love to all.

rozem - I had a complicated cyst on my ovary last year. When the surgeon got in there he found it was sitting external to the ovary and so only took the cyst and not the ovary (we had discussed this prior). My cyst turned out to be benign.

With a few cysts it is likely that some if not all are internal to the ovary - that would require removing the ovary to biopsy them.

    Hope it turns out Ok for you {{{hug}}}

thank you so much for the advice ladies

jenn - I was hoping you would respond because I do remember reading about your cyst experience.    Do they always remove/biopsy complex cysts or is it just because of our history?  there are 5 or 6 of them so I think you are right in that they would have to remove it completely.  I mean how big is an ovary anyway -right?

on top of this she told me I have a liver hemangioma which I am also resisting the urge to google.  It was tiny and find via the ultrasound as an incidental finding.  I say incidental but I did tell them to scan everything from the waist down LOL .  I am wondering if I should call my onc anyway to see if she thinks we should further scan - the radiologist report did not recommend any further imaging

Rozem I googled it. Not serious, not cancer and only needs action if it's causing you discomfort. You can google it.

Hello everyone , I haven't posted in a long time but Ive tried to keep up on posts.  Have had a difficult time with chemo , now on Herceptin only had my 4th one .My EF dropped 5 points , it was 65 now is between 60 & 65 .

Bilateral mastectomy next week , really scared !!!! Don't know what to expect , not worried about pain ,general anesthesia  is the culprit of my concern. Also have never taken any narcotic and don't know how it'll make me feel . Forgot to mention will have immediate reconstruction with TE s placed .

    Please input ladies

    Regards to you all !

momx2 I hear you. I too never had surgery except for
some teeth extractions. I even gave birth! To be honest I didn't even
use the pain pump. They took it away. Never used any of my narcotics. I
didn't realize but I had a high tolerance to pain. The anesthesia did
make me very nauseous. It happens some some folks. I found out my mom
& sister have the same issue. If I had know they could have given me
something before surgery. But I got through it. About it took about a
1.25 days but then I was fine and walking all around. You'll be so tired
initially you'll just want to sleep.

    You survived Adriamycin...
this will be a breeze compared to that. Each day after surgery you feel
better. Much different from chemo when every treatment you feel a little
    worse.

Happy News!  Today marks 3 years since my surgery!  I know most oncs use diagnosis as your NED date but I'm using surgery - the date the bad boy was removed.  :)

    Arlene

    Congratulations on 3 years!

My BS & Onc mark my NED date as my surgery date. Your survivor date is the day you were diagnosed.  They are different because there are many survivors that aren't NED. Also NED means no evidence of disease... diagnosis date you aren't NED.

thanks lago...I did eventually google.  Im just praying that an u/s is definitive.  I had my files sent to my onc so she can take a look and decide if we need any further scans

    Arlene - congrats! big milestone!

Thanks Ladies!  I only posted this for the newbies to see there really is a light at the end of the tunnel and life can go on.  I should also mention that I had my appointment with my cardiologist today to continue my follow up for any possible long term effects from Herceptin and he thinks I'm perfect but having the routine Echo as a precaution!  Night all!

I count my NED date as the date the identifying biopsy was done and tumor removed, with clean but close margins. When I had the mastectomy a month later, margins were still clear and nothing additional, so I am giving myself the extra month.

I will officially celebrate after I have my pet scan next week, even though I am about 6 weeks past my three year date. Don't want to jinx anything.

I'd kind of like to have a final echo now that I am two years post hercepting! but after he ok'd the pet scan I thought I better not press my luck.

Momx2-even if you don't know if you will be nauseous, tell them you are. That was my solution, as the only prior surgeries I had had were two caesareans, and I was awake for those. I thought the pain pump was wonderful! I rarely took any pain pills except when they forced them on my in the hospital and scared me into thinking if I missed a dose I would have major pain. I had pretty much stopped 48 hours after, and not sure I really needed them. The pump seemed to stop about everything. My problem with anesthesia and pain pills is TERRIBLE constipation, to the point I thought I was going to have to go to the emergency room! or have a stroke. Finally resolved but it was very painful. I now start taking stool softeners at least two days in advance of any surgery. Sending you healing wishes for a successful and issue free surgery.

So, I am trying hard to become less phobic about testing, and need some opinions and thoughts.

My bloodwork is coming back and loading into the system. He ran the CA 27.29, which came back at 22...in the normal range.

Do you think I should take a leap of faith and cancel the pet scan! or go ahead and have it since he ok'd it to make sure nothing shows up. A little part of me worries that something weird could show up that then forces them to look further for things that might not be bad.

So far, counts are good except for triglycerides. Just read that can be caused by tamoxifen....thank you so much. That is giving me motivation to get back to a better diet. I don't want to take cholesterol meds. I wonder if changing to an AI could have an impact?

    Arlene, congrats!!!

momx2, ditto what fluff said about constipation. Also if you have never had pain meds, you might want to talk to them about that before hand. In my experience it seems that the first line of meds they prescribe are codeine based, which is fine unless codeine makes you nauseous as it does with many people. I hope you are one of the fortunate ones that have very little pain with MX.

SpecialK, I see you are scheduled for more surgery today. Hopefully all will go well and the outcome will be everything you are hoping for.

    Arlene wonderful news. YYAAAYYY

Momx2 I know it's a goofy feeling--I had operations before but still not this. And out of all the operations I had this was the easiest--no pain and I was surprised, my sister too we were both like WTF I was waiting for it to start so ease u'r mind that way, I'm sure u'll be fine--I did not have recon so the others can help u on that and after I told everyone to make sure their hands were clean and had new gloves on the next thing I remember was my BIL saying it went well so that was good.

SpecialK what are u having done--I'm all mixed up.

fluffqueen01 Typically I would say pass on the scan but knowing you from these forums I would say do it for peace of mind. If you don't I know you will be second guessing every little stomach ache. Do it one last time.

Lago, I know, lol, who am I kidding. I'm having it.

Cami....here is what SpecialK is having done. nisa - yes - surgery again, it is like the movie Groundhog Day. I have to be re-meshed - my original allograft is failing and that combined with my genetically thin pectoral muscles is causing little bits of my silicone implants to poke through and make small bubbles or lumps on the underneath of both sides.
