Special - so glad your surgery is done, but sympathise with you about feeling nauseous after - I throw up for a long time after an anesthetic unless I'm given lots of meds before hand.
PBrain - I'm just over two years out from finishing Herceptin and three years from chemo. I can remember for a couple of months after Herceptin I was feeling very down and upset that I wasn't suddenly and magically "myself" again. Now that I think back, I laugh. I did see a counselor, who said to me, that I was expecting too much too soon. She explained that it would take many months to get over the trauma that my body and mind had been through, and not to be so hard on myself.
She was right. Part of my problem was that I was that Arimidex didn't agree with me, and apart from the usual aches and pains, it really messed with my head. I switched to Aromasin and that all cleared up. I'm back to being a confident, self assured woman who can take on anyone and anything (well almost lol as much as my arthritic body can).
Hang in there - it will get better, bit by bit. It just needs time, and if a counselor helps, go for it.

Hi everyone, all this leg pain etc. is getting me very nervous. I emailed MO to ask him if he could put in the referral for the bone scan prior to our appointment on Friday since there is always lag time. He responded that we would talk about it on friday and he doesn't want me to have too much radiation. I emailed back and pointed out the time that has passed since I finished chemo (16 mos), had my last bone scan (13 mos), finished Herceptin (7 mos), etc. He said he would be glad to discuss the guidelines for monitoring BC during our appointment. "We can discuss your point of view as well." Wtf??!!! Not just venting, it does look like I may well need to push for this and will need ammunition....

cypher it sounds like you may have a battle on your hands on Friday

Definitely have to maintain a sense of humor! Some days I'm a dried up old hag, some days I'm young spring chick - when I wake up I just never know what kind of day it will be, lol!
Trisha-Anne - sorry you have shared the post-surgery nausea - it is the pits! I unwisely refused additional meds after the Iv Reglan because I have not previously had a problem. I plan to get the surgical report to see what they used so I'm smarter next time I need true GA.

Yes Special, it really is the pits. After my mx, I threw up for 30 hours. When I went in to have my port put in, I warned the aneasthetist that I was pretty sick, and told him if I threw up once I wouldn't pay him lol. It worked! If I hadn't been so sick after the mx I probably could have gone home at least a day earlier.

lago what is number

goutlaw you should Private message Lago for that info. This is an open forum and isn't set up for that kind d of thing. Lago might PM you if she hasn't already.
Trisha I see you and I raise you. I had vomiting and D after one of mine. But it did not last 30 hours! That's a lot of puking. Sigh.
Cypher sounds like your Dr got the memo and is trying to cut down on tests.... LOL I hope you get what you need.
Much love to all.

Pbrain, it is hurting consistently and is worse at night, which isn't a good sign. It's been at least 3 weeks. It could be my sciatica, whatever that means, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a scary problem higher up. Every other time I've freaked out at some level I have asked my gut if I was ok and got a "yes," and this time I am getting silence and "get it checked out." If that doesn't sound excessively woo woo. Of course I am so addled by anxiety every time I have a symptom it's hard to tell.

Cypher I hope all goes well all the way around.
And how awful to have surgery and be sick from it-oooo the pressure must make u feel like u'r going to open up all the areas that were closed.
Special K so glad no drains--at least u admit u'r now officially dried up--Face facts--and I hope u'r doing as well as u sound.

camillegal - yes, I have known it for a while - but this is my first public statement, lol! I was VERY glad to see no drains!

cypher keep us posted.

Lago- It is great that you connected with Goutlaw. When I read her post I can see that she is a very frightened young lady.Thank you for helping all of us. I too was terrified, your kindness and sharing your knowledge helped me so much. You and SpecialK were so kind and helpful even when I asked stupid questions you both replied.

So kind of u Lago and I echo what Eileen said. And how u all look up and share so much info amazes me still and helping all the newbies who are so frightening of what's ahead and soothing their fears. I read all the time just really can't add anything.
But my little job keeps my mind going very little, I still transpose numbers--and slowly go over everything--he's so good about it, I'm glad. But it did make me learn more about the computer and I like that--so maybe my goal of being a hacker is not out of reach. LOL

camillegal I transpose numbers all the time. You are a true inspiration to all of us. You are the one of the funniest women I know... and you also let others know that there is life as a stage IV survivor. 7 year survivor and still going strong. I know for me I love to see you here. Makes me smile

Lago that's so nice of u--but my sister is my idol she works full time still as Stage IV and she's older than me and has benn that stage for 7 yrs also--so I seem to have more SE's than her or she just doesn't complain like I do, but then again I've always been a drama queen.

Yes lago very nice of you. One of the ladies from BCO, 6 yrs survivor rached out to me after she read one of my statement. she also er/pr- Her2+. she gave her email and cell#. i am very thankful to her for raching out to me. I also keep in touch with another lady. she is 10 yrs survivor, but she is not fron BCO. she called to check on me once in a while. ladies excuse my english since english is my 2nd language. thanks

soriya I didn't notice that your first language wasn't English. You are doing much better than most of us... between typos and iphone auto-incorrrect we are the ones who sound like English is our 2nd language. So what is your first language? Where are you from originally.
BTW I've skyped a few bc.org gals. One in Canada and the other in Australia! They both were with me from the start of surgery. Not triple positives but still great support. We are now connected on facebook. They rarely come here anymore.

Hello ladies. I have not been on in a while myself and really want to thank those of you who stay on here to guide the recently diagnosed through this journey. You're really awesome. And I have a question for anybody who can offer input. My PCP prescribed premarin cream for vaginal dryness and pain. I called my MO because of the estrogen. She says Premarin is too high in estrogen and recommended vagifem....which is also estrogen. So, just checking to see if any of you have used that and what you think. Thanks so much!

One week til my surgery - saw my BS yesterday and she ordered a BRCA test kit and will be going to her office for it on Thursday. I am happy that I will find that out as I have a daughter that would like to know. I was actually surprised that she ordered it and got it approved by my insurance company - guess it is because I was diagnosed with cancer in both breast at the same time? I will have my surgery on the 18th and my first appointment with a MO on April 2nd - seems like everything moves in slow motion. I really just want to get the show on the road - this waiting around is so hard.

DiZZyMom I don't use either of these but if I had to choose I would stick with my MO's recommendation. You might want to further consult your PCP and let him/her know what your MO said. I'm sure s/he will also default to your onc's recommendation.
and it makes sense to start off with the lower dose. If that works why expose your self to more if you don't need it.
Linda that's great that they ordered the BRCA test. There might be many reasons why they order this.

lago my first langeuage is cambodian. my homeland is Cambodia. Cambodia is very close to Vietnam and Thailand. i can speak english a lot better than write. i am really bad with grammar. LOL
0 -
Awesome. My sister worked on a refugee camp in Thailand in the early 80's. She was about 50 miles from the Cambodian border. Trust me many native English speakers are bad at grammar too. English is a tough language.
So do you cook? I love Asian food in including Thai and Vietnamese but I don't think I've ever eaten Cambodian food. Seriously I have fish sauce in my cabinet and can purchase fresh lemon grass from the grocery next door. Kaffir leaves are a bit harder to find fresh but I can find them. I love curry too.
