TRIPLE POSITIVE GROUP

Nicky,
I am SO happy to hear from you. I have been thinking about you and praying for you!! Please keep us all posted.
On the MRI subject, my onc has asked me if I want scans at my upcoming 5 year mark. Part of me does and part of me doesn't. I don't want the radiation of a ct/pet but an MRI....hmmm.
I have noticed the studies that show an uptick in recurrence in triple positives at the 5-6 year mark. UGH!!! SCARY!!! I am renewing my commitment to living healthy - cleaning up the diet and lacing up the sneakers a bit more. It's probably time to fish through my supplement shelf. I go through phases and forget to take something when it works it way to the back of the cabinet. Sometimes I forget why I am taking it all together. My naturopath said to just shove it all in a box and bring it into him I just may do that!
I put some new blueberry bushes in that were graciously given to me by an organic gardener who grew them from seed. I didn't realize that pesticides could be systemic. I had intended on buying some stuff from the nursery to get some tomatoes and basil this summer. I tend to kill almost anything I start from seed. In the winter I grow parsley -it's so easy, its like a weed. We make tabouli about once a week and I throw it in smoothies. Oh, and mint. LOL. I am good at growing mint. Stop on by and take home a truckload. It's ridiculously invasive.

geewhiz which studies? My understanding was our biggest risk was in the first 2-3 years.

The vast majority of GMO plants for agriculture do not have systemic pesticide engineered in, rather they are modified to withstand a larger dosing of pesticide that kills weeds but not the crop. If you buy non-GMO certified plants, or organic seeds/plants, you should not have a problem. Consumer awareness has spurred demand for more non-GMO options, so these should not be hard to find. GMO seeds/plants are prohibitively expensive so it is fairly unlikely that you will find GMO plants in places like Home Depot/Lowe's/Walmart garden centers. Most GMO is used in commercial agriculture, here is some info:

ang - twimmama is absolutely right...most women are not doing ova suppression. This is NOT standard of care at the moment. As twinmama said the SOFT trial was extended due to so few reccurances so this is great news. I suspect there will not be a benefit to shutting down the ovaries but we wont know this until the results are out.
nicky - ((((hugs)))))
SK - I tried to find the post about what surgery you had but if its drains its breast so glad you're doing well
jenn - my gyn wont see me until may so I had all my files sent to my onc so she can determine if I should be concerned about these complex cysts. Shes off until march 17 so I wait...
on the subject of bones - Ive been in meno for almost 2.5 years with maybe 2 periods in that entire time. My onc and GP don't seem to concerned about testing my bone density (diagnosed at 42) is this because im on tamox?

rozem - had implants removed, new allograft mesh installed, pocket work, implants put back. I have a couple of areas of skin defect that I am worried about right now - applying Silvadene, taking antibiotics, and staying very still. Things look great, PS does not seem overly worried, but I'm nervous. I feel fine and am off pain meds, just keeping my fingers crossed.

Special. Thoughts and prayers for an uncomplicated speedy recovery. Hope this will be your last surgery, you have had enough.

Eileen - thanks, other than fat-grafting I won't do any more revisions, my skin is just too fragile.

SK - I want FG to fill in my port "crater" but I don't want to go under the knife anymore!!!! I am hoping that if my ovary needs to come out I can do it all in one shot. Hope all heals fine

Specualk. I am praying those spots go away fast and you heal well.

Thanks everyone! I was reassured by my post-op visit to the PS yesterday - he did not seem concerned although he tried to put Neosporin on it first - doc, I'm allergic to that! Then wanted to put on a Band-Aid - doc, I'm allergic to adhesive! By the end we agreed that I need a bubble to live in! Silvadene has worked well for me in the past so I now have a vat of it.
rozem - fwiw - fat-grafting was the easiest of my surgeries - you aren't really under the knife, it is a super teeny knife! You do have that hit-by-a-truck feeling for a few days and also have to deal with 24/7 compression for a number of weeks, but it made such a huge different in the aesthetic for me that I felt it was the best thing I did in the whole process.

Sk, sorry you have to go through this. This is endless! I wish you the best possible outcome this time around.
sorry about the info on the GMO thing. I don't remember where I read that and I must have mis remembered it. I do remember the Home Depot has organic seedlings, and in any case there are lots of places that probably have that kind of thing so you don't need to grow from seed. I will try and figure out what the link was that I saw.

Also why give bone scans if mris will suffice? There must be something different in what they pick up, no?
0 -
cypher - thank for the good thoughts - and, yes, it is endless, lol! It is entirely possible that you saw something about GMO at big box store garden centers - I wonder if it was an article pointing out that they should be avoided? It could have been seeds too, particularly for the more prevalent GMO crops.

Oh AWESOME about the organic seedlings ---I will see if I can find some. Sadly most of the gardening centers near me closed.
Lago, I think this is the study my onc showed me. Although I am not entirely sure. And I also gained 5 pounds in 6 months so he could have been trying to reign me in by scaring me. It worked...like we need provocation to be even more scared with bc
. I personally would like to see a straight line to the bottom of the graph at the 1 year mark, lol. It's about hormone positive recurrence, not necessarily her2. I see him in a few weeks. I will see what it was that lit a fire under me.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3787911/
GOOD LUCK Special K!! Fingers crossed for you!
Cyher - I agree completely. I would prefer an MRI. My center has this new open type machine with BEATS headphones. You can choose an mp3 of music specially prepared for the occasion. I chose Classic Rock and WOW, did time fly.

Thanks ladies!
camillegal - can you see me? How did you know all I'm doing is watching tv in my pajamas with the dog, and posting? Lol!

cypher I think they do cat or pet then MRI. Cat being the cheapest of the 3, MRI being the most expensive. But as you go up they show more detail. It's just insurance won't always pay for MRI out of the gate.
SpecialK you are "special" I'll see if I can google you a bubble home. You will get through this.'
Geewhiz. THanks will read the study.

SpecialK
I hope you are well on your way to a successful and uneventful recovery from your surgery.
Been out of touch so just catching up.
You have been and continue to be an enormous help to those of us who've followed. Many thanks. Sorry that you had to gain more expertise this way!

ashla - thanks! I'm doing ok - just praying that I don't lose the left implant after all this time, and doing the 20/20 hindsight thing like I should have just lived with the problems instead of trying to correct them.
0 -
SpecialK - prayers that the implant stays where it should. None of these decisions we make are easy. We all deserve to feel happy and comfortable with our reconstruction. It makes complete sense that you wished to correct the problems you were not happy with. Do not Monday morning quarterback yourself! Sending healing thoughts!

dance - thanks, you know that is what I am doing!!! Trying to appreciate how good it all looks and eat mass quantities of protein and willing the spots to heal!
