I was 39 and no one in my family has breast cancer. I am supposed to do BRACA testing too.0 -
Won't be saying much...been fighting vertigo since last night.
Chevy, yes Jimmie won and I actually watched the Indy race, first time.
Sorry, off to bed...head in spinning.
0 -
Nettie, I hope you feel better soon.
I thought I'd join in the breast cancer discussion on family connection. I was diagnosed at age 56 with invasive lobular breast cancer. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 50 in one breast and in the other breast at age 56. She didn't keep medical paperwork and didn't know what type, stage, or grade she had. My maternal grandmother had breast cancer but not certain of the primary since she had cancer everywhere in her body and died at age 47. I tested negative for the BRCA gene.

paw print. How is Annie Mae getting along
Nettie...sorry to hear..that's annoying. Do you know what caused it. I heard a few years ago one of the issues is the alignment of stones in your head. If that is the problem , one is suppose to lay head off side of bed in all four direction to align the stones. I knew I had rocks in my head...now it was confirmed.
Hope you get a handle on it soon... Hugs your way
Tang..how's it going? Feeling better, getting better, dressing changing going ok? Still got you in my pocket

Hello everyone else. Hope everyone had an enjoyable 3 day weekend.
Nighty night

I was diagnosed at 53. I'm the only one on either side of the family to be diagnosed with it. I often wonder about car exhaust. We lived close to a freeway in California. You couldn't see it and really couldn't hear it but it was there and there was always a layer of dark dust over the patio furniture.

Hi Paula, how are you doing?
0 -
LeeA I'm doing fine. I'm one year pfc this month. Hair came back in curly. Still lacking energy. Or maybe just lacking motivation. How are you doing? The Bellas really miss you.

Congratulations on one year PFC.
I was one year PFC on April 17. I know you had Taxol following the AC.
I just had to have my December 10, 2013 reconstruction completely redone on April 29, 2014. Had to spend one night in the hospital. I've had healing issues from mid-January through the day of my surgery (4/29). Had to take loads of antibiotics, perhaps unnecessarily, during most of that time-frame and now all my liver enzymes are elevated. Not sure if it's the antibiotics, the general anesthesia, the generic Arimidex or the other horrible thing - which I continually push away to the back of my mind.
Re: energy - our bodies have been through a lot. I think it will come back over time. I find I feel the best when I'm walking. Sometimes I feel like Forrest Gump. Like I could just start walking and not stop until I reach the end of the continent.

Woe that was a big ketchup
So many women get this thing way to early bit the no rules apply here too. Naturally we don't want out DD's to ever have this and mine go every year, but I'm sorry an Mammo (to me) is not always the answer so--I still worry about them.
Netti I think that's right about Vertigo, but can't they help you?
I'm just starting to revive from my week-end, hot, pool and I drank--need I say more---it was good tho.
Oh if I can I want to explain Chevy reasoning for going 180 mph---its ver simple.

This is what Chevy's lost.

Did you see THAT you guys? SHE (meaning the Cam) is assuming I lost all my marbles! Not all, mind you, just some! Ha, ha!
I didn't REALLY go 180 mph... just wanted to see if you were listening... I went 179! Besides, you are partially correct.... those "marbles" are similar to what are on the high-side of the track... Little bits of debris, that the tires "push" up there... You don't want to hit them, because they might make you slide, or spin.... which in either case is not good.
Nettie? Are you still spinning? Did someone assume you had rocks in your head? Do I have to look that up too? Being dizzy is just the worst! Some sort of inner-ear goings-on, and it just makes you want to go out and throw up.... which I did once.
Since I lost my hearing, it hasn't happened... My Mom used to get that too.... always afraid it was "Menier's disease? I don't think that's the right spelling... I'll ask Cammi.
Sorry that so many women find breast cancer at your younger years! Well that doesn't even make sense.... I mean it's so awful that younger women are finding breast cancer, being so young!
I don't know what the statistics are, but I've read where the early Egyptians... the mummies.... had signs of breast cancer. I know they didn't have all the treatments that we have now... But hopefully the expected life-span has gotten a lot longer...
Okay, I've figured out the problem.... After I go over my impending post, I find lots of mis-spellings, which I hurriedly correct... So's you guys won't take me to task.... Ha!
So MY main problem is I have to "proof-read" everything I write! And that works if I know how to SPELL something, and the mistake is not my finger's fault!
Susan, that cup of mocha looks so good! And Morning Alyson!
Lee, what is PFC? I looked in your DX, and didn't see anything like that! I know AC means Air Conditioning.... and that PND is post nasal drip, but you guys, I just don't have a clue about all these abbreviations! We should make a list of our own abbreviations... So I have some sort of reference guide...

Chevster, PFC stands for post final chemo. Most of us think of it as post f*cking chemo.
Morning all......BBL....

Not spinning so bad this afternoon, but very sleepy from the meds!! I guess I'm going to have to break down and get some blood work done, just can't seem to stay awake these days and I have no energy!! I mean, I do stay awake because I have to work... but it's very hard as I could fall asleep sitting straight up at my desk!!
I have had vertigo before, went through treatment for it and I know all the exercises that are supposed to relieve it, however, this time they did not help, had to resort to valium, anti vert and Zofran! blah blah blah!! Leave it to me to be sick for a holiday!! Had a houseful of people to top it all off, so therefore today I get to go home to a disaster as DH is absolutely no help. He thinks since he grilled and "cleaned" up outside that his duties are done so the rest is left to me! The company did try to help before they left, but there are just some things that can't be done until everyone is gone and that ALWAYS gets left to me, regardless of how I'm feeling! Because for some reason, if I don't do it today, HE will just leave it and assume that I will do it when I feel better! There were times during chemo that things got left for over a week!! That's just how he is!!
Well, wasn't that nice of me to just pop in and start a rant! SORRY!!
Hope everyone had a much better holiday than I did!! I'll catch up later, but not sure I'll be able to comment to everyone!
I luv all you ladies and I'm so glad I have this place to come to when I need some "fresh" air!!

Nettie, Rant away! I'm sure you'll feel better for it. It really sounds like you have plenty to rant about. At least the guests tried to help. Hugs.

Hello Owlettes! Went away for a spontaneous Memorial weekend family gathering. It was wonderful.
I will post later, but couoldn't help but do a happy dance for Susan! Yay!!

Tang is getting better, (hopefully!) Annie Mae too, badger wedding sounds lovely, (love wood ducks!) graduations..(Congrats! DutchIris, raising a kid is no easy task!) Chevy and Cami are showering.... (*raised eyebrows*) smaarty is too smart and teaching quilting. (It's beautiful!) Ziggy is too busy for us all, (miss you!) Wren is lovely Wren and spookie is keeping mom busy.
Nettie needs to feel better, Teka still brings us great pics, 2TA is busy on the phone with bc sisters, (awesome!) HoleinOne is offering Proseco (me please!), and Sassinator is on every medical issue! Have a problem? She's your go-to gal! And Lee had some good advice too.
Brain ain't what it used to be. Waving to anyone I forgot!

Nettie.... I think I would smack everyone over the head! YOU are going through chemo, and YOU have the get-to-gether at YOUR house? AND you are DIZZY! No need to ask if you are taking Meclazine, cause it sounds like you have been there...done that!
I'm sorry about the clean-up! My last family gathering was 19 people, and I have SWORN I will not do it again! Just because everyone likes to stay outdoors, kids running crazy all over the neighborhood, no-one helps, DH gets drunk.... cuts his head falling into a wall he found, and I am ready to kick them all out! I just wanted them ALL to leave!
I would rather clean up the whole f*****g mess than have them stay another minute. So in other words, I was not happy.... I was mad as hell when they all left.
DD's helped a little, but of course the REST of the fam damily wanted to visit, so they did their job.
How ya doin' FBB? I hope you are okay!

Hi Ladies-
I've been crazy-busy trying to get things done around my mess of a house, working on cars, and trying to get out of the house more. I have missed a ton and will try to skim through everything later.
Hope you are all doing well

my iPad will not let me see the BCO site or my mail. Have to try and work on that. Took Annie Mae to the vet. They said no more meds and no more vet visits for the eyes and she is healing perfectly. Thank you all for supporting her (and me) as we went thru this. She is outside playing in the yard right now. I'm going to try and see why I can't connect on my iPad anymore. Hope you are all doing well.
Here is a pic of my other dog Snuggs...the little trickster.

Tang and All Women With Daughters:
I am the only woman with maternal bc cancer diagnosis...my hubby 's mom also had 1st bc diagnosis in her maternal side. Because my daughter has a maternal and paternal history, my onc said she should get her mammograms at age 25.

Chevy,
Believe me I was ready for everyone to leave. But I'm done with all my treatment, but I'm still trying to build strength. Just wondering how long that will take. I finished chemo last August and rads in October.
Now I'm also having to deal with DH being a jerk. I think he's hit his midlife crisis. He started running and now everyday he has to post on FB his stats for the day. Just makes me want to puke. It's one thing to do it, but why must we tell the world.
I'm on my phone and my memory sucks..I usually type my comment in a word program as I'm reading and then post. Maybe tomorrow.

Nettie...just had to pop in and say that dh is doing the same thing...but his is bike riding. I'm happy he's doing something to get healthier, but honestly he make such a big deal of it on FB. It's annoying, not sure why, I think I'm partially envious of him doing something "normal". At the same time I know he needs something normal with all this cancer crap going on around him.Anyway, just saying I can relate.
gnight ya'll

Only 4 pages behind, not too bad.
DD came Friday and left Saturday. Spent Sunday pigging out on car races. Dragged hiney to grocery yesterday mostly for a couple of prescriptions there. Can't get motivated to do anything. Not been sleeping well then crash the next night and want to sleep 10 hours. Just got up from nearly falling off couch going to sleep sitting straight up. Will read thru gradually.
Susan - doing the happy dance for your good report.
Fierce - I think you got everyone covered. You are quite the poet of posts.
I have read thru the 4 pages but barely remember what I've read. Dozed off like 4 times on the couch. Have puny old goat that's get ABT injections. DH woke me up at 6:40 so he could be helper and I only really got to bed about 2 am. Think it's nighter's here very soon.
Pawprint - you should be the alpha. I've been teaching my rat terrier that she does not go thru door 1st and that she must wait for permission to go out of den. Also making her sit when she gets her food. Helps some. She did get some obedience training. Glad Annie Mae is doing so well.
