    Hi Gals!

It's so hot here, so I can't go work in my garden!

I just looked up the whole synopsis of Shutter Island!  We watched it last night, and I had a hard time trying to figure it all out.... especially the ending.  So I found I could print the whole story out.... Well, the condensed version......    !    I know.... I have too much time on my hands.... Ha!

Teacher, I know what you are talking about.  My DD and her stepson but heads.  He tells her I can do what ever I want.  He is 12.  I am about to step into the middle of it with him. Someone needs to and if it makes DSIL mad so be it.  Its time that parents realize they are not there childs best friend.

When my DH and I were married and had complete custody and control of his 4 children from his first marriage, it was really hard, but I ruled with an iron fist.  If I had not took a stand they would have ran all over us.  We had a babysitter stay with them so we could go to my youngest sisters graduation and when we got back she said they were a bunch of heathens and they were!

Anyway, hot here, still no rain to speak of.  Had a fire stared by lightning, but got put out.  Praise the Lord and a great bunch of fire fighters.

    Everyone have a peaceful nite

Carole another car catastrophy --well as long as u guys are all right--but the insurance part is usually a PITA so I hope it goes smoothly for you.

Mommarch I'm so glad u'r GD is with you and how thoughtful she is.

The pic of the riverwalk at Christmas is like a fairy tale, it's beautiful.

Wren she swallowed the camera, for how long and how did it get out--ouch.

Wow the wedding and the wheelchair--sounds like a book--I wonder why she was still in a wheelchair after 2 weeks, that would make me think big time. I mean think back when we had the whole shamole taken out and I never thought of a wheelchair, I had no trouble then walking, and so secretive about it all. Hmmmmm

Oh my pic was to aggrevate Chevy actually just to let her know how big this teeny camera will be, actually it freaked me out. LOL Oh Chevy u watched that movie, I was very disappointed with it I knew from the first 10 minutes what was happening yet I did watch the whole thing and I hoped the ending would be different bit it wasn't--so my critic in my said no not for me.

I hope everyone's week goes well, and I was busy on the phones today--A/C's now and generators.

Because gratification of a desire leads to the temporary stilling of the
mind and the experience of the peaceful, joyful Self, it's no wonder that we
get hooked on thinking that happiness comes from the satisfaction of
desires.  This is the meaning of the old adage, "Joy is not in
    things, it is in us."

Cammi, just so you won't MISS this, I posted the picture of the camera they will be using to take those pictures up your wazoo tomorrow....

    image

Shouldn't be any problem.... just don't holler too loud....   Those nurse folk just HATE when people holler and scream, and stomp their feet...... also, remember to pick up a couple flash-bulbs, for this type.  I will be out in the hall, waiting for them to finish your um, "exam" or whatever.....  If I fall asleep, wake me when you walk out.... that is if you can walk..... that camera IS pretty big, but I'll bring a walker....  so you can use that......  Oh GOD, I just hate when anything is going on down "there!!!!!!!"

I had to have a "conization" one time...  because the yeast infections I kept having almost did away with 1/2 my body parts!    But then I was "fixed" and made perfect again.

Carole.... WHAT stitches.... and WHERE?  Maybe Cammi's Doc can do it for you too?    Is it a skin cancer?  Squamas or Basal-cell?   I'LL take the stitches out....  I even have those "special" scissors..... sort of like this....

    image

So have I taken care of all you guys problems today?

Mommarch, sooooooo good to hear good news from you!  Love you guys!

    Carole, thinking of you.

Cami, am thinking of you too and will be tomorrow.

Chevy, I love your sense of humor.

Jackie, so true ... joy is within us.

Last night when I couldn't fall asleep, I was reflecting back on my 5 years of retirement.  I realized that I had tried all but one of the activities that I had planned on trying and none had captured me.  The one left is cooking.  Today I am ordering a cooking magazine.  My joy today is thinking about a new endeavor.  (DH does 99% of our dinner cooking.)

Edited to take off a post to someone on another thread ... whoops on me.

Hello ladies. Hot and Humid here. Was out  spraying weeds between the walkway blocks. I came in and put our little  portable AC unit on for the first time this year. Love it as it does the job for our  little "Master Suite" where we spend most of our time. And we can remove it when we aren't home, as we are all on  ground level.

Teacher, know what you mean about parents and being friends with their kids. Hard to zip our lips when we are visiting the SD. The follow thru is awful. Also we cringe when grandsons Dad calls him "Buddy" all the time! No  , guess we are just old geezers, but discipline is certainly not what it used to be!

Finally finished the windows we had put on the porch so DH doesn't  have to close it in for the winter and open it again in the spring. They are sliders and really look nice. The porch is my favorite room , eat out there most of the summer.

Sure is good to see the sun shining. Also got a Good report on my yearly mammo and DH stress test. Breathing again.

Cammi, boy cystoscopies have changed since my nursing days. I usually stay awake and watch the monitor when I have my colonoscopies! Hope no news is good news for you.

Cami, My friend said it was about the size of a calcium pill (big but possible to swallow). They had her come back at 4pm to give back the transmitter. It passes just like poop. In fact one man called the nurse in a panic because his poop had a light going on and off. In your pocket tomorrow.

    Wren hahahaha that's funny.

Well tomorrow I will be ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille---he'll probably be there too. And Chevy I think u'r right cuz they did say the flash is very blinding so I assume it more of a poloroid cuz they get the results within a minute. Now I' feel pressure how do I practice my good side and smile in there. Oh the difficulty of being under hot lights and cameras. BONNETS actually knows the name of this thing, I'm very impressed altho I shouldn't be bonnets I know u know all these things---there are just a couple of us (yes me, and no other name mentioned) that are on the ignorance side of the fence where all the fun is going on that's why we don't know anything. We're in our bliss.

My mom had her surgery last Wednesday and it was certainly stressful.  She had the first surgery at 8:30 but had to go right back in at noon for a huge hematoma.  It ended up she was in surgery for 3 more hours and they couldn't get the bleeding to stop.  The surgeon thinks the Plavix wasn't totally out of her system even though she had been off for 8 days.  Anyway after several bags of blood she was finally able to go to ICU for a couple of days followed by 4 days in the regular hospital rooms.  She is home today with one drain and very weak.  The good news is her pathology report came back with clear nodes and the 10 cm tumor was a pure Mucinous Ductal Carcinoma.  The doctor said she will have to die from something else.  Thanks for all of your prayers and kind words of encouragement.

I can hear the sigh's of relief all the way here in Centralia.  Nancy it is such good news.  Though your Mom had to endure so much for her age,  it sounds like she was in good hands and now you will have time to spend together.  That will be even better when she has regained some of the strength it took to FIND that good news and you can start making another round of great life memories.

Sending prayer of gratitude and healing energies to you.

    Blessings,

Bonnets...yay for the all's well mammo.  That too calls for sighs of thanksgiving.  It was a scorcher here today, but a really strong breeze kept it from being totally intolerable due to humidity coming right along with the heat.

At our house we could easily be outside ( with that good breeze and all the shade here ) and barely notice humidity.  We did walk around slowly and walked down to the lake.  Of course, Billy, our Lab Retriever insisted on going along.  He seldom misses an opportunity to jump in the lake.......and then proceeds when he gets out to get a whole lot of lake on us.  He never seems to get annoyed by how un-appreciative we are.

It has been a nice day in spite of the early heat.  Another week of storms or rain it sounds like.  In this part of the country seems they can veer elsewhere now and then --so we will see how it goes.

    Blessings

You DON'T have one of those DO you???  Good Lord Girl, what is going ON with you?   Well, I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to have that removed....!  I wouldn't want BOTH either...  Man, you really ARE odd!

As soon as you find out what you are going in for today, let us know...  It's PROBABLY a trip to the Tavern down on the corner, and watching all those male dancers... RIGHT?    In that case, we will be with you.....  Oh well, we'll be with you anyway..... Love you girl!

Okay, so get this..... I brought in about 6 of these huge plastic pots.... They were in the alley.......   "Pots" is the key word here.... Just stay with me....

So I have already filled 2 of them, with my tomatoes....

    image

And this morning I was cleaning out 2 more, just washing them off.... And one had this piece of "tape" on it that said "White Rhino" on it...

So I came in and looked it up....  IT WAS USED FOR GROWING MARAJUANA!!  "A powerful kind"..... evidently!  Ha, ha!  I just cracked up laughing!   I had just never heard of a "White Rhino" plant, or flower, and I was curious!  Shows you what kind of neighbors we have around HERE!

    http://search.aol.com/aol/imageDetails?s_it=imageD...

Maybe someone dropped them off...  who knows?   Just empty pots.... no soil, not a trace of NOTHING....  except the tape with the name on it.

Man, they are some big mo-fo pots to grow POT!    That was my laugh for the day.

Too funny about the planters, Chevy.  You know some of us ( obviously a lot of us here ) are a little older and sort of lost touch with how some things are described.  We don't know all the code words any longer........but it is still hard for me to imagine that you would go to Wal-Mart's or whenever these things are sold and a "planting" container would be specified for just one sort of plant.  Sort of blows my mind.  Definitely showing my age.

I think of some of us  "oldies" going any number of places and buying things that tickle our fancy for some reason......and finding out the hard way what we have done later.  Well, just have to take our chances I think.....I'm not sure I can keep up with all that.  I have housework, laundry, cats to feed.....when am I going to have time to learn and discover that some PLANTERS are specific to grow the happy weed.

Well, if your tomato plants REALLY grow.....then I'd say maybe those pots actually had something left over in them.  You'll know soon.....those tomato plants will be taller than you......next week.

    Blessings

    Good morning all.

I have been using Splenda but have recently read that Stevia is better.  Has anyone researched these two?  Is one better than the other?

Chevy, I have enjoyed seeing your container garden.  Your picnic table looks so good that I am reminded that I need to get my paint out.

    Hi Ladies,

I haven't been posted for a while, although I do read the posts every day. I am on the second part of my 3 travels this month. I got to DDIL's house Mon, and can't tell you how much I am enjoying Lucia. She just started walking and is SO proud of herself. She is , also, for the most part, a very happy, content baby. We will see how that goes when we leave for Fl tomorrow- minimum of 5 hours in the car for two days.

Well, I had a great time in Ft Laud the first time, but when I left, wow, everything exploded. My youngest son and his girlfriend decided to wait till Jan to move out. They have the finances now, but just barely, and decided they want more of a cushion, which sounds very reasonable and mature. Problem is, he has been promising to move out every six months for the last 3 years. DD, who also lives there had a fit. Tim called me to see if it was okay for him to stay and I said it was okay with me IF it was ok with her. He told her I said it was ok, and since it is my house, that's the only okay he needs. Major drama with them both giving me ultimatums.  God gifted me with an extraordinary amount of patience- but ULTIMATUMS from my own children, especially ones that demand I choose one over the other !?! Thank God my DS#1 is there- he let them both have it for me, because they were so angry when they called me that they couldn't hear me. My response to Tim's threat that he would move into his girlfriends pparent's house, was go ahead. And to Tracy's threat that she will move out if Tim isn't out by Jan 1st, I said go ahead. I really don't have it in me right now to deal with their stupid stuff, especially when neither one of them have a leg to stand on. Tracy, her sort of ex-husband and their son live there for free, just paying utilities, and Tim hasn't paid her enough rent. We added up the electricity, water and cable bills, divided them in 4, and Tims share comes to less than $200/mo. In good faith, because he knows he has been terrible about paying on a regular basis, Tim gave her a check for $1400, which pays him thru Jan. The two things all 3 of them agreeed on is that Tracy's ex doesn't get a say in this at all, and I don't need the stress. So guess who called me Thurs- Tracy's ex to complain that Tim says he is ruining my late DH backyard, and that Tim ran over the sprinklers that morning on purpose. So much for Doug staying out of it. By early afternoon, we all (except Doug) got an apology from Tim with a picture of working sprinklers.

I have so much moved beyond this stuff. I fought the BC to have more time with them, not to be put in the middle of their petty issues. We will see how it goes when I get there Fri.  On the good side, the whole main part of the house is repainted in all new colors, I have wainscoting in my dining room, our new furniture has arrived, except they sent the wrong media center, and all we need now are the finishing touches, which is the fun part.

Cami- hope by now you are finished with your photo session and all is well.

Anne, I can imagine the fun you are having with Lucia.  Her walking probably allows her a whole new world to discover which probably brings out the magical look children get at new discoveries.  I hope the "house situation" is settled by the time you get there.

Wow, Anne, you sound like the soul of reason and patience.  I'm not sure how I would deal with those things ( though they don't sound too complicated -- other than a bit emotional -- siblings type ) and glad that it seems to be resolving somewhat.  I have had a number of issues and just feel in many cases, life is a bit different these days....along with being a young person.  So many find they need to go BACK home for a while.  But how to manage when all are now returning adults, albeit, some still relatively young.....or at least young enough to make DEMANDS on the others for shortcomings.  Hats off to you for keeping your cool.

Hope it all becomes cool, calm and collected so you can continue to enjoy.

    Blessings

Thanks as always for the support.  Jackie, the not having to come back after he has moved out is Tim's reason for wanting to stay the extra time. Two of his sisters came back home for a while and DS#1's nickname is the boomerang boy. He moved out and back more times than I can count. He is now married and a teacher, but he still comes home every summer to run a camp. Life is tough out there today- I am not envious of today's generation at all. My daughter and her husband in Ga both work full time, but they live paycheck to paycheck, with nothing left over. It is a scary way to live.  I talked to the 4 siblings in Fl right now about all going out to celebrate Tim's bday next Mon night. They are all for it. Tim texted last night he will be happy to go to dinner with me and his girlfriend, but wants no part of a family celebration. So the drama goes on...

Oh Anne. A mess for sure. They ALL need to grow up, don't they? How old are they again? My 3 have had plenty of drama over the years, but the oldest two (girls, 41 & 37) seem to get along fine now. None of the 3 live in the same state so that helps. My son is 29, and still annoyed with daughter #1 from an argument they had about 6 years ago. Maturity will help him get over it.

OMG Anne the drama is ongoing with u, how do u keep track.  The best is u'r little one walking around they are so cute when discovering what they can do, that is u'r peace.

Chevy I bet those tomatoes will be bigger and better and make u really relaxed, then u'll be hungry again. Interesting.

I fell asleep early, now I'm up and it's still thundering, it's like that rolling thunder but the cats up so it's not scary, but we had some big storms earlier and she hid for a while--they don't bother the dog tho.
And Chevy I have proof I am woman haha but it was weird having my legs up in stirrups, I told the Dr. my legs haven't been in any position like that for years for anyone. I caught up with all my voicemails for work when I got home and finished my job. Altho the messages I realized were kind of screwed up , like no last name or what they wanted done, they're good guys and told me yesterday they loved me so that was good.

OK see what I can do now. Bwahahhahaha
