Watched a show on nature last night. Reminded me of us :)

The show was about a family of Meerkats. The new kits were trying to learn the Meerkat  "stand". It was so cute. They would try and stand up right, then over they would go backwards. There would be a scramble b/c several were falling at the same time, as others were trying to get up. But up they would get and try it again.

yep, that's us, fall down, bump the head, hip, shoulder, get up and try again.

    Good Morning to all...

Susan, that canyon is amazing ! Do you know where that was taken? Two summers ago, I got to float down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. All the side canyons, wildlife, it was a once in a life time trip. Yes, a pain free day sounds good.

I am headed to Nevada this morning for a 2 day golf tournament. I am playing with my niece, she is 32 & a better golfer than I. No biggie.

Thinking of you all that are struggling right now. It sucks !

    Be back tomorrow night......

Good morning Owlettes! Actually got 8 hours of sleep last night and at a decent time, I'm actually feeling sluggish instead of energized (less energy than after a 6-hour sleep). Go figure!

Did someone say chocolates? I'll be there for sure!

Cami, glad you're back home now! Life is so much better at home, in our comfy pj's, in our own world. Are you having any pain? Hopefully not.

Hi Pawprint! Sorry the iron infusions aren't doing their job so well. Bad iron! Must be no fun to be tired all the time. Are you at home or still working? With your busy schedule alone, being tired is part of the territory, the iron stuff makes it worse?

Fierce, if it helps any, I'm going thru similar problems with my DD (20 yo), I'm beginning to think it's part of growing up - and living with BC. The thing I keep forgetting is how our BC might be haunting them - like a preview of their life? I never grew up with the constant reality that BC might hit me too, puts a whole different spin on things. Maybe someone whose mom had BC could better address this. Lots of my friends keep saying this is just a phase for the girls, that one day their attitude and behavior will change. That's what I'm counting on.

Phylliwiththepaintgun, did they give you a dictionary or translator to go with that report? Oh wait, we don't need a translator we have Sassy!

Sassy, are you all recovered and no longer glowing? When do they give you the all-clear? Also, when are you supposed to start with the National Committee thing? You probably said way back pages ago, I don't remember. And I don't get your reference to the purple feather??

Tang, yes, yes, yes! Chemo is nasty chit! It's a toxin (as in poison) meant to kill the bad buggers, just sometimes it forgets and gets the good stuff like  the brain cells too. Hang in there, it DOES get better!

Sassy, can't really leave right now. Moved Mom and Dad close to be near ME, Dad is on the verge of a breakdown. Besides, he (Dad) gives me lots of physical hugs, get more hugs with him than months at home. A bunch of job fairs in the area coming up soon, so I'll stick around. Will start getting away during the days though. Need to start working on cleaning this messy house, I would love to sell it, go somewhere it's smaller and more manageable.

Blessings, hoping you're getting some relaxing done and feeling better. I know it can be warm right now where you live, take it easy.

Anyone hear from 4Sew? and Ziggy? Glad we got our Enerva back (looks like she's been busy with her handicrafting), glad you're here.

And to any one else I missed: Have a Thrilling Thursday! TGIF! Off for a busy day

arggg, had a super long post and lost it all thanks to a cat who loves sleeping on my computer desk with her head on my keyboard............

    Edited to add:

Hi1, have a great time away! Stay cool!

Yes Nettie looks like you have plenty of room for some goats. Need at least 2, they are herd animals and get very sad without a herdmate. My 1st 2 (neutered males) in 2001 I lost one pretty quick to bladder stones - prob. mostly my fault. His herdmate cried pitifully till my friend gave me a doe he did not want. It was lovely seeing them together. Many herds give away or almost really cheaply the wethers - neutered males - and they will cut down your mowing. They don't eat everything - stinging nettle one thing I wish they did. But they will clear out briars, poison ivy, any reachable tree limbs. I have Nigerian Dwarf goats - 50-60#, knee high. Carry them in dog crates in the truck. Pretty active comm. of breeders in LA esp. up toward Shreveport. I love mine but no more babies for me. I'm down to 13 now including my sweet baby runt girl from last year who's about 19#. Her 1/2 sister is not much bigger. Neither breedable.

Susan - the pampering 50's day sounds like wonderful fun. Enjoy.

Yes, 2TA, I was "lucky" that my DD was already flown from the coop when I got BC. Yup, a preview of their life and like I said getting mad/angry is her way of saying how scared she is for you and for herself. Younger kids just want you there, to be held/loved and for you to make them cookies - now that oversimplifying it for sure but the emotional changes/divides and exploration of self is soooo different. If she's as safe as she can be at boyfriend's (safe sex/safe place to "fall" a la Dr. Phil) then though not ideal it is workable at present. Mine will still go weeks without contacting me - the only thing I know is if she doesn't show up at work we are 1st contact since she was still living at home when she took the job. I get p****ed off too when she doesn't answer my texts. I got "out with friends" and then nothing for 2 weeks.

I identify with the shovel the stuff out. I've been trying but it seems I start in one place and something else happens in another room where I have to start over again. I did get the back exit cleaned yest. It collects all the cleaners, dog stuff, flip flops, bug sprays. DH found some desktop 2 shelf thingy DD left here. Great to get shoes and a few cleaners/bug spray on. Can actually walk by without tripping - LOL. Not what I need to do. I cleaned out the storage cabinet for the goaties a week ago. It is much, much better. Threw tons of stuff away I will never use again.

Loved the Flo video. My laugh for the day.

2TA--ROTFLOL  You sound so much better YAY. This video reminds me of a story  from Readers Digest :)

Woman rushes home to shower before her yearly GYN exam. Sprays herself with feminine hygiene spray, dresses, and runs off for visit. During the exam, the doc leans around her knee and says "You didn't have to get all dressed up for me". Huh, what did he mean by that. She gets home and looks with a mirror. Instead of feminine hygiene spray, she had used her DD's SPARKLE spray Singing.

Hi Spookie, the chair guy is now just going to do the whole rocker in powder coated semi satin black. It won't be as nice as the electroplated brass, but this way I might get the chair back. Bummer. The guy doing the upholstery here in Titusville is still alive thank god. The electroplater is so embarrassed that he isn't going to charge me anymore than the down payment which is 200$. What a mess.  Passing the tea, or would you like to try the bong?

Wow how did you 2 post? I have several other threads open that are usually busy and Nada. Never had the maryjane. Maybe pass it my way. And if this ever changes pages you won't be able to get to it, maybe if your own personal post is on the new page.

Sassy - did you get rain today? Looked earlier and seemed FL was covered over. My poor Decorah IA eagles are getting thunderstormed on. Two fledged yest, just one lonely one left in nest.

How do you electroplate a rocker? I have a platform rocker that was my GGM - my DM had it refinished oh maybe 45 years ago - can't really remember when. It has some dings on feet. Prob. too exp. for me to even consider it. Impossible to find uphol. for it anyway. Used to sell "cricket sets" in Penney's catalog. It is very tiny. Mostly it holds the decorative bed pillows at night.

I think some iced tea sounds heavenly.

Oh I don't know if this will post. Anyway Thanks Chevy I always wanted to know the anatomy of a little goat, now I know everything. They are so cute.

I've been up most of the nite and today I slept most of the day but I did answer my phones, didn't say the messages were right but at least they heard a real voice.

Oh I can't remember anything here but here goes---I loved that pic Susan so beautiful and that spa thing sounds so fun. My sister still melts down her lipsticks to make a new one too.

Tang U'R DONE YAAAAAAYYY and there is no telling what SE's chemo will do for anyone, so don't worry anything is normal.

2nd u'r sounding pretty good today.

Remember that really old saying (except I don't remember exactly how it goes) but something like How awful to leave the youth of today to be the leaders of tomorrow----And Socrates said it so oviously since the beginning of time the young uns have had an attitude but for the most part they do grow out of it.

Oh my brain is numb (shut up Chevy)

  • I worry about everyone on here. I'm hoping everyone is just busy with their gardens or are out having summer fun.

Hi Spookiesmom! Just be glad Spookie didn't ask for her own car.

Speaking of cars and daughters,  mine finally texted after not responding to calls or texts. She is starting a new job in July and wants "her" car. Of course it is a car I bought and is insured through me. I let her use it to go back and forth to college. Now that she's living at boyfriends house, it occurred to her that she has no transportation. Hubby says NO deal.  Having a car and parents to pay insurance was one of the perks of living at home. And of course living at home involves following rules which she wasn't doing.

I feel bad because I know her acting out probably is part of being scared. And if she can't get to work, she'll lose her job. I texted back that we should sit down and talk about it and of course now the silent treatment again.

What say the owl gang? Feel free to chip in your 2 cents. Or is that a dollar by now with inflation?

FBB  I'm with your DH. If she wants to act like a big girl, let her figure out how. Maybe the bf's parents will "help"?

2nd, The instant I saw the crazy cat lady, I thought "that looks like Archie McPhee's" - and it was. Their store is a total hoot. It's full of intentionally funny things and odd things that people do funny things with. It takes about an hour to look through because you don't want to miss anything.

MAN, I'm just glad everything is working again!  Cammi, I saw you said something on the last page, about

"And Socrates said it so "oviously" since the beginning of time the young uns have had an attitude but for the most part they do grow out of it."

    image

This is for me and you Cammi!    Ha, ha!

    image

Well, sounds like normal behavior to me.... but what do I know...

Fierce....Having had TWO teenage Daughter's, at about the same time,  I would not like to go through that again.  Nope, DH nor I would let her take that car...   She is just trying to see how much authority she has over you...  And how much she can get away with...

She will stomp and yell, but you guys are right... It WOULD be different if she were respectful, and living at home, and pretending she beLONGS in the family, and not out living with her boyfriend?  She really is living with HIM, right?  Well that ought to put an end to THAT relationship pretty darned quick!

I'll bet your DH is ready to tan her hide, so they used to say.... not that she doesn't need it, but you can't do that anymore.

As a Mom, we always find and make excuses for what they are doing, and in the meantime we are crying inside.  We just want them to be like they were, and not this stupid independent pot-smoking little brats they are trying to be.

It will get better.... just remember that...  you are trying to do what you know is best, so just stick with it... maybe she will come around, eventually.....  But talking to them at that age, is like talking to the wind.

    image

Just hang in there ...  and remember.... YOU are the Mom...
