  • holeinone, love your garden!  I have yet to be able to master the professional look. My plants come up willy nilly or spread or don't follow the height listed and looks like a wild mess. But the birds and wildlife don't mind so neither do I.

Sas, have you had your crystals analyzed?  And no I'm not talking woo-woo mystic magic crystals. You can change your urine ph and crystal formation by what you eat or don't eat.  Hope you don't have any more problems.

Poor blessings! Stay home and rest today!

2ta, extra hug for you since u need one!

Thanks, everyone! I am so glad I get the notifications of the posts to Insomniacs on my cell phone (at least that part is working) even if it's without the images so I can (try to) keep up with you. Your posts were my smiles and bright spots the last couple of days.

May need to keep this brief. I'm back at home and so much to do today! Haven't done laundry or grocery shopping in over a week, poor DH didn't have milk, bread or other "edible" food in the house. He actually has been a sweetie all this (surprisingly). His company got bought out and the takeover was the beginning of this week. He brought home stacks of paperwork (like all the new employee paperwork) for the new company and I said I would help complete as he's been putting in ridiculous hours (leaves home before 6 am and doesn't get home till at least 7:30 pm). I secretly knew I wouldn't be home Monday night, but didn't expect all that happened.

Funny thing, that since I figured the job search/parent connection thing, I have felt so much better and lighter. Like a huge burden has been lifted and while I'm still struggling a bit with the situation (meaning bills are still piling up and I don't know where the money will come from to cover them all) I know I'm doing the very best I can. Now, for the kicker: received a call Monday morning for a pre-interview (unfortunately, we're still playing phone tag and from the sound of his voice, he's getting perturbed with me) and an email for another pre-interview later that day! Really? So, hoping to connect with both of them today.

Better post before this all goes poof....

Thanks for all the compliments on my flower bed. It faces south, out the kitchen table area. My DD worked at a high end garden center for several summers, the pot was cracked, so she got it. The top part has carving, so very decorative. Working in the yard is the best therapy for me.

Here is photos of the place on the river I am going tonight. It's called Pillar Falls, on the Snake River. I live very close to the canyon rim & the river. My BIL is taking us up in his boat. We will have a cocktail & then come back to town & go out for dinner.

FierceBBird, love the hot air balloon, I would be to chicken to ever get in one.

2nd, nice to hear DH is being supportive.

Cami, you are smelling peachy, yeah! Love peaches...

Blessings, what a nightmare! I keep biting the inside of my mouth, it's raw. I have had two areas cut out & biopsied for skin cancer. The Dr. Did a good job of numbing up the area, did not feel much, but if they cauterize it, yuk, horrible smell.

    Happy day to all.....

    Hello Owlettes!

hmm, very quiet morning/afternoon (for most of you) today.

Cami, who is Arthur? Someone I should know?

Blessings, wow! You've got your hands full too! Sounds like yesterday (what it yesterday? I've lost track) wasn't the best day for you. Hoping today is so much better for you and DH.  Pace yourself, especially in this heat (it's ONLY in the 90's here today). Better yet, rest, put your feet up, sip iced tea (or something else cold and refreshing), chillax, maybe say in night clothes all day.....

Pawprint, you too, stay cool today. So now that you cut back on Fridays and tomorrow is a holiday, do you get an extra day of rest?

FierceBB, would love a ride on that hot air balloon. Calgone, take me away...

Hi PattyP, good to see you!

Chevy, hopefully no more phone calls today either.

Tang, sending you gentle hugs to let you know we care.

Sassy, regarding new laptop/tablet/device: first thing to do is determine your needs. If you need just for internet (searches, emails, BCO, FB, online books) sounds like a tablet (like an ipad, not an alka-seltzer) might work for you. Bigger and easier to read than a Kindle but not as expensive or sophisticated as a laptop or PC). If you create, edit and manage files (word documents and spreadsheets) you might need something different as the ipad doesn't accommodate this purpose. Maybe a laptop would be better suited for you. Hey, who am I kidding, you're probably not able to read this anything if your current laptop is overheated to the point of exhaustion.

Well, funny how the world works. I've had 2 phone pre-interviews this morning. Interview late next week for one, the other is only part-time (10-20 hours a week, may work into full time, maybe not) and will let them know Monday what i decide. So I'm looking at a busy week next week: Monday - job workshop, Tuesday - Dad and I will take Mom to the geriatric specialist and get paperwork completed for her to move into the new facility; Wednesday - hopefully move Mom in; Thursday - job interview; Friday - collapse. Ha

Oops, Hi1: I missed a few pages. Thanks for the photos! Love the new avatar by the way.

The only day available right now is August 27 :( secretary said she is waiting to confirm another patient for July 30th and that if that patient can't do that date then I can take it, but we all know most likely no one in our position cancel or refuse a surgery date :( The Ps is fully booked :( well at least I have a date now. It's so crazy how many surgeries are been done, it makes me sad 😔  so many of us in This journey

Oh, my, as I’m reading, I really haven’t been commenting
because there is so much going on, but TEKA, when I saw your post about the
cabinet, I just had to post!!We had the
same happen one night!!We were sitting
watching tv and WHAM down comes a kitchen cabinet, I mean, ours, hit the floor
and most of the dishes inside broke!!Thankfully for me, I had been lazy and most of the good dishes were not
put away!!However we did have a mess of
glass in the floor!!DH and DSIL, put it
back up, cleaned up the mess and DH had to build 3 new doors, but all is well
    that ends well!

I have a question, what could it mean if a dose of Prednisone made my pain go away for 24 hours?  Does it mask symptons or does it mean that I have some other issue?

Just wondering if any of you had any experience with this?

  • Teka, that is a beautiful bench. We can all sit there with our coffees! Be sure to post a picture of your completed work.

I'm on the west coast of Fl next to Clearwater. SAS is on the east coast close to Cape Canaveral. It's about 2 1/2 hours apart, but some storms are big enough to cover the whole state, coast to coast. Not Arthur. She is probably getting some stiff wind, 30 mph maybe more, maybe rain bands. I'm getting nothing.

Ohmygosh.... where IS everyone? Are y'all out in your back yards setting up the fireworks display?

I really should be in bed by now... 1 a.m., but DH says no alarm clocks need to be set, and I'm taking him up on that! I may sleep til it's fireworks time.

Tonight I made some cole slaw, macaroni salad, and a yummy, refreshing peach jello salad/dessert. For the main course, DH will BBQ turkey burgers, with blue cheese, tomatoes, and gluten-free buns. I did cheat and buy a quart of potato salad from this awesome local deli where everything is so fresh and delicious.

I don't know what the big deal about fireworks is. I can't stand the smoke, with my asthma, so I end up sitting in the house anyway.

Hope y'all are getting a good rest in time for any events you may be attending today!

good morning ladies.  Happy Independence Day.  Hope everyone has a great - pain free - day.

Not a lot going on here. We are going to grill out and hang by our pool today. Temp high is 80 here today.  Usually closer to 100 this time of year. I am so happy for a cool day!!!! Dh and oldest ds went fishing at daybreak.  Youngest ds still snoozing since he just got back from church camp yesterday. He is worn out.  We will go watch some firework displays tonight and then home for a few for the kids. I early leave the house except for dr appt or hospital due to terrible back pain due to damn cancer, so really excited to get out today.  Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I always get emotional thinking of the men and women who have given their life for my freedom.  THANKs to all our military men and women - past and present!    Of course every holiday or special occasion now is good but bittersweet.  In the back of my mind I always wonder , will this be the last time that my children (12 & 9) and dh will have me around. So I try to make it the very best day I can inbetween running to the restroom to have a little cry, wash my face and reapply makeup and soaking up every memory.  Definately a xanex kind of day.  Hope you all have a great one

well that post was a little depressing, sorry ladies.   Not what I was going for. So on a happier note I have an old joke I remembered this morning:

5 year old boys were sharing a hospital room.  Timmy asked Johnny "what are you here for?"  Johnny replied " I am getting  my tonsils removed". Timmy says " oh that's easy I had that done last year and you get to eat as much ice cream as you want and you will feel better in just a couple days ". Johnny asked Timmy " why are you here?"  Timmy replied " I am having a circumcision ".  Johnny replied " oh no!  I had that done as a newborn. I couldn't walk for a year ".  Lol

Okay, wait!  Yes, 222222222T..... I am the Fiddler here....

And yes...  The Band Director called last night....  SHE said  "CHEVY are we going for a walk tomorrow?"    And I was dumb-founded, and caught by surprise.

I said I'll be up at Noon! ....  Husband frantically waving his arms.... But THEN I woke up at midnight, and started thinking,  I AM NUCKIN' FUTS!  I canNOT go get her, then walk her back down here, because either ONE of us might fall.... I mean with MY history and all!

I am boiling eggs... I am taking deviled egg sandwiches up there, with out-of-date Potato Salad, and we will have a PICNIC on her patio!    With pickles!  How's THAT for an easy fix?  Hah!   I will 'splain to PITA neighbor, that I will feel soooooo bad, if SHE falls, and me on top of her..... actually she could break my fall..... But I'll tell her to tell her PITA DIL, that "NO!  I canNOT take you for walks, because I have a hard enough time trying to do that very thing mySELF!

Do those 2 forGET that  I am about 77, AND with hip/leg still mending and I am supposed to help HER?  Can't happen!  So I will tell her I am lame....  Those 2 women are getting to be .......

    image

So Teka, you are saying, you almost posted, but it went flying into outer space?  Ha, ha!  That's funny!  Funny, because we have ALL done that!  By the way.... we didn't get it.

One time, the whole WALL in our house fell in!  I mean it came tumbling down!  Bricks, wood & whatever!  Then there was daylight!  It scared us worse than anything.... EVER!

My folks then had to remodel!   My Brother and I then got our own little rooms... with DOORS!  Ha, ha!  They bought that house for $3000 when I was about 10.... probably about 1947...  And that house is still STANDing!  A block from where we live now!   with the "new" wall.

Morning Sass, Teka, and Enerva!  I put all 3 of you together in a lump-sum!   Sorry Enerva..... wait!  Is that your kitten in that avatar?  Sooo cute!

Nettie, YOU TOO?  WTH are you girls DOing?  Swinging from your cabinet doors?

    image

I TELL you, it is easier on a pole!   Duct tape didn't hold, eh?

Okay Nettie....  This is my experience with Prednisone....  SURE the pain will go away....  It really works, but as soon as you quit taking it, the pain is right back...   And it makes you retain water, like a big Puffer-fish!

But SOME people can take that in small doses, like forever... but Sass, will say NO.... don't take it forever!  You might WANT to, but it is not a good idea.  It is so NICE though when that pain is gone....  I also took it for that back pain, but it DOES mask the pain.  And helps a lot of stuff.

Valsa!  WHO is on the way.... ?  I'll bet you posted on the wrong thread!  You mean Arthur?  Hurricane Arthur?

A friend from HS always sends me Holiday cards....and  this one is really great!  You can view your card here.  Happy 4th everyone!

Oh SORRY Peppermint!  Go put on that make-up girl!  Wipe those tears, and try and have a better day.... We are HERE, ya' know!

Hi 22222222T....!  You here too?  Wish we could have coffee together! xoxoxoxo

hmm, had a post, off into cyberspace,

Good morning Chevy! Thanks for my early morning giggle (out of date potato salad, that'll fix her!). Good for you, take care of yourself. She has a family, that's their responsibility. Would someone outside of your family be taking care of you?

Coffee sounds like a great idea, need to put on a pot. Usually like iced coffee (I remember Mom drank that 50+ years ago in the hot NY summers, everyone laughed, she was ahead of her time). Is the photo of the fallen cupboard from your home or Internet?

Edited: thanks for ecard, very nice. She create beautiful cards, have been very lucky to have received a couple (from friends who care).

Need something to go with the coffee. Have a blueberry muffin mix and fresh blueberries. Maybe need to get that in the oven, maybe just stay on the sofa, too many decisions so early in the morning. Figuring I fell asleep on the sofa watching TV around 10-10:30, now wide awake. Terrible hot flashes, sitting next to the floor fan, must be cool, even the cats are avoiding me.

so, we've been talking about electronic devices (not electrical or battery-powered, get your minds out of the gutter). Curious what you all use. Chevy, if that was an image of your set up, do you sit at a desk all day? Do others respond from their cell? I get notifications of Insomniacs thread updates on my cell (without images), use an iPad with my butt in the sofa for the rest.

Hoping Sassy gets everything figured out so she's back here regularly, that is, as regularly as she's allowed.

And I only have a Dell desk-top!  With a BFMonitor!  Ha, ha!  I think it is a 23"....  and it's on my little desk, in my little corner, with my all-in-one printer, in my little house!

It's all I want.... no lap-top, no smart-phone, nor tablet....  I just don't need that....

I have a simple cell-phone, for just $15 a month... no Internet on that.  And I have a land-line.... and Oh.... Indoor plumbing!  Ha, ha!

    We even have 3 TV's!  and out-dated potato salad.....Winking

I have to call her.... and tell her my leg just hurts.... which it does, and I won't be walking her.... instead we will have that picnic, with that potato salad.

Okay, we have to get ready to walk up to Star-bucks!  I can ALWAYS do that....  2 Aleve, and I am ready to go!    Don't tell PITA!

Ok, I'm depressed, bummed, pis$ed, all that. It's not about cancer. Just need to dump this.

My dad was a builder, built many many homes in the Eastern side of Cinti. Apartment bldgs too. Until I married, I always lived in a house my dad built. The last was a duplex in a small village.

My ever clueless BIL sent a tv news clip about how homes built in the 50s are being razed, to be replaced with CONDOs with prices starting at 750k!!!!!!!

Guess which block has a date with the wrecking ball. Yep. This last place was HOME for me. I woke up at 3 this morning thinking about my dog buried in the yard. I don't have a lot of roots or family, is it silly to be so upset about this?

    Ok. Done dumping

Chevy, you make me laugh! Indoor plumbing, wow! How modern!

My closest Starbucks is 2-3 miles away, no walking, besides, I make mine at home (Magic Bullet makes great blend drinks).

Our Mac, upstairs, use when I feel like climbing the stairs:

Oh Spookie those are cherished memories, I don't blame u one bit.

Chevy I am going to find u'r PITA and tell them the truth cuz it's only right and u know I do everything right always on top of things, well I used to be when I had a partne==never mind.TMI--but I like the outdated pot. salad--good idea, but don't u have any just leave it there. That will teach them all to ever call u.

I'm doing lots of nothing today but I won't be by my computer much, so I'll get here whenever I can.

And no one get sad about being here another year we said that last year and we're still hangin' around--so don't even go there. Just enjoy the day with family.

Hello ladies! ~Happy 4th Of July!

spookiesmom - I hope you don't mind if I add my two cents. Your feelings about your situation are pretty 'right-on' if you ask me! I can only relate to it to the degree that my Dad has built several highways, and roadways that if they should ever decide to tear it all up and start over, to me, it's a 'part' of him, and in turn has valuable meaning to Me!!

I'm all for progress, but sometimes at what cost? Unfortunately, the 'stats' on that, are still out....

meanwhile, keep those treasures in your mind and heart.

    2ndT - Niccccceeee Mac.... I'm officially jealous! :)

Chevy, that picture could have been taken right in my
    kitchen!!

And I’m very aware about the Prednisone!!I’ve refused it over and over!!I was just offered it for my elbow and said “no
way”!I puff up like a balloon and it is
NOT water for me!!I put it on and can
never get it off!!Bad bad experience
with prednisone and weight gain and I know that it is harmful with long term
    use!!

I was just wondering if it could make cancer pain go
away?I guess it can make any pain go
away while you are taking it!!That’s
why I actually felt good during chemo, it was all the steroids I was
getting! It was just nice to be pain
free for 24 hours and it only took a small dose!I took it at the suggestion of someone that
told me that if it helped with the pain, that I should go see another Dr, I
forget the kind, I have her name.It is NOT
pain management.I was told that she
could maybe help me figure out what was going on!!
