hey ms Sassy, looked over info about your new 'puter. I can't offer any opinion here as my laptop (with Windows) fried years ago. Was really proficient on it, word processing, detailed tables, lots of spreadsheets, power point presentations (teaching then). We only had Mac and hated it, it was difficult to do anything. Now that I've gotten used to it, the few times I've used windows, I've preferred the Mac. Maybe you can use your laptop for Skype (or similar). Sorry I can't offer more advice, hopefully others will weigh in.

Thanks, Maddy and little goats. Yes, I got to lift It and play with all the positions. Checked out the fan position. They have corrected the design. The unit weighs maybe a couple of pounds. It can be used in about four positions. Tablet ,standing, notebook, and something else.
I just opened the box the instructions are very simple.
Find home. Bob what I wrote was dbf home bbl. How can this be so off on the kindle. Tell me does Windows 8.1 have this problem. That I would not deal with.
Wren not questioning you, but the programmers have programmed it to do that, I have seen either that web site or similar. Funny.

I am definitely not a computer expert. I bought my HP laptop early this year for work. It came with windows 8. It differs from other windows versions. It has tiles on it that look like boxes. I finally figured out how to make it look like windows 7 version with my wallpaper and icons. I added word to it. Problem is with windows 8, there is no highlight, copy, paste function by holding the mouse down. It took me lots of hours to figure out copy paste function alternative. Also, windows 7 is sensitive. Drag pages to close them. No X at the top to close pages. Go to far right and white icons appear magically to shut down. I picked up the windows 8 for dummies book. I heard that some issues were fixed with the upgrade to windows 8.1. Good luck Gals with your new computers. If we see #%*+%#^*chit....we will understand why

Just realized: today is the 1-year anniversary of my last revision sx to remove mudflaps on both sides and capsulorrhaphy/removal of scar tissue on one side. So glad to put that behind me!

Pawprint. I hope am not doing chit in two months as you say. This does not have an instruction book. It is a single two sided sheet. Suppressing the OCD need to measure. But will take Wrens suggestion about a class.
The instruction books that came with my first Gateway in 1996, were maybe over a foot high.
Maddy the stone activity has picked up. Likely up all night. The fireworks started. Dinis choice for quiet area the bathroom. No fall, near miss. This is like a very bad script.

Glad you are done with that.Sassy - wouldn't Dini like to sleep with DBF? Does dog have any drugs even some Benadryl - but I will say it has zero affect on my dog. I think you mentioned vet offered Valium but you didn't want the heavy stuff for them. Please be careful. Know what pain can do to your perceptions and Dini doesn't know you're not func. as well right now. Are you getting the heavy rain? The race at Daytona has been postponed until tomorrow. They never even started it.
Laptop sounds neat. I had DH look up a Microsoft prod. I saw advertised on TV. He says it was $1500 - one of those that you can take apart and it makes a tablet. Needless to say that's not happenin' in this house unless I win the lotto.
Neighbors had a decent fireworks show last night, lots of sky high boomers. It has been a decently wet June, wettest in 5 years so no worry about grass fires. That is prob. about to change, rain going away unless we get a storm come in the gulf.

Odd all of this talk about computers seeing as how my work computer was fried by lightening Wednesday night, so I spend all day thursday getting a new one, it only came with the windows 8 option, but my computer guy fixed it so it will look and act like Windows 7! thank goodness I wasn't really up for learning new stuff for a work computer! However, when I left work thursday, it was still trying to download windows office so hopefully by Monday morning all will be ready to go!!

I have lt that I got in 2010, it needs to revamped. I got this tablet 2 months ago. I love it, but still love my lt. Have my old lt hooked up to the monitor. Son threw monitor out.

Owlies - no personal replies tonight.... I just fell again. Ever since my big fall on vacation (head injury), I've been wobbly, unable to walk a straight line, fall easily, and my fine motor coordination sucks. I usually use my cane wherever I go these days.
I just went into the bedroom with a load of clean sheets, stepped on the edge of a pillow sham, and just that slight unevenness was enough to send me crashing to the floor.
Slammed my hip into the floor, twisted my knee,and crunched my elbow into the nightstand.
The doc I saw the same day of the fall did mention whiplash but not definitive for concussion. I didn't have any of the standard symptoms, anyway.... I could have blacked out for maybe a minute, but after that, pupils were fine, no nausea, no vomiting, no dizziness, no vertigo.
But two weeks later and I can't stand up straight, and nearly fall several times a day. Something isn't right. Time to see my favorite doc, I think....
Two steps forward, three steps back... grrrrrr.

Hi, notself.... Great suggestion.....but it's not likely. Haven't had any dizziness, vertigo, nausea, or vomiting. What I have is imbalance, where I can't tell which way the floor is tilting. I did have a bad fall two weeks ago where I fell back and slammed my head into the floor. I don't recommend it.
I do have five different vestibular issues, though...
1 - BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, or crystals in the fluid of the inner ear)
2 - Migraine-Associated Vertigo - no headaches, only aura, complicated by stress
3 - Mal de Debarquement, or Debarkment Syndrome, where if I am on a moving object, my brain can't tell when I get on solid ground again
4 - Visual/Oculomotor Processing Disorder - my brain doesn't recognize what my eyes see. If I turn my head quickly from side to side, I get double vision
5 - Left sided neurological damage of unknown cause.... makes me fall to the left every time!
I was misdiagnosed with "Atypical Meniere's" about 15 years ago, and for a while was so bad off I used a cane or a walker everywhere I went. And if I was too unsteady, I used a wheelchair.
My undergraduate degree is in Audiology, and I was part of a forum of people with vestibular disorders, and I was NOT going to accept the "Atypical Meniere's" diagnosis without a fight!
So I researched and researched, and did eliminations of various triggers, and finally got things under control almost ten years ago. Then I met a wonderful new ENT who had specialized in Meniere's Disease. I told him his colleague had dx'd me with "Atypical Meniere's" and he just about blew a gasket.
"THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ATYPICAL MENIERES!!!" He yelled. "THAT'S JUST THE DOCTOR'S WAY OF SAYING THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, SO THEY GIVE YOU A GARBAGE DIAGNOSIS!"
Wow... cool!
So I presented my research, he ordered a few more tests, and confirmed everything I had proposed.
I was SO happy to not have this disequilibrium as a problem for so long... then whammo! Hit my head on the stupid floor, and here I am again.
Will be seeing my PCP on Monday, I think.

Sassy, is it common for the pain to come back? You can't seem to catch a break.
Same goes for you Blessings. Really concerned for you. Please consider seeing docs, if not tomorrow (kinda difficult to see the appropriate specialist on Sunday), can you get Monday same-day appt? Can DH help? Ensure nothing in your walking path at least? Hoping tomorrow is pajama day, church can wait one week (so it's not another possible dangerous situation). (And don't reply, just read if you can).
Nettie, pretty lady! DD gets her beautiful looks from you! The hair situation will only get better. Love your dog, those eyes are amazing! What kind?
LMG, glad the mudflaps are gone. Besides the esthetics, seemed like a bit of lymph fluid was sneaking in and slightly painful, maybe even some kind of nerve damage? Removing the skin and tissue took away some pain. Not happy with the huge long scar but will take that over pain. Besides I can cover my Franken-back.

Blessings, so sorry , I hate falls. They just wreck havoc. That tilting description. Either you have said it here, or just read it with something. I will try and think of it. Anyhow it is t pretty specific. Great when you have a doc that won' t give a garbage diagnosis and they listen.

Okay owlies, everyone's going to laugh @ me. I've just -seen that the Kindle keyboard has all the symbols from the second keyboard in the same box. I never noticed them. I held the e key down kind of long and a 3appeared. Focused on all the keys. All the symbols are there. Wonderful. Probably in the directions I never read.
Lmg 400$., but I'll wait a bit to set it up. It was tough today with the bladder thing. I took a diuretic to help flush the bladder and drinking oodles of water. Peeing lots. It's working. We're those symbols really there all this time?

Oh the dogs are good. The house is very soundproof. They are calmly laying. I know there nervous ticks. I will give them the valium if need be. No hesitation on that one. All the fireworks are way less because of all the rain. If it was nice last night they would of had the valium early dusk. Tonight they started , but only lasted about a half hour. Not to worry I will protect my babies.

Maddy not for what I receive it for. With thyroid cancer there is only remnant pieces and the thyroid bed. The majority was excreted in the first 4 days. But there's enough in those tissues to activate an alarm for 3 months.
Hyperthyroidism/Graves disease it as you are thinking.. Takes along time for it to be excreted. Think of the two problems as Apple's and oranges.

Blessings, take care of yourself and be careful. Falling stinks, and it, as you know, can cause worse problems..hope your balance is better tomorrow..it is scary when you can't see the floor right. We take walking for granted, but it isn't easy when the floor is moving !!!!!!!
Chevy, you are a good neighbor
. When my mother in law had her brain cancer, the only way we got her out of the house was to tell her she had to come by us for the weekend so we could take care of her after she had a fall. We kept her her and never let her go back. Italian too...100%...she never showed she was happy with us, very independent lady, but I knew she was.....I am sure she was mad she couldn't live alone, but not mad at us...just the circumstances .. I am nervous about going to Grand Rapids Michigan on Monday. About a 4 hour drive. But i just haven't felt that great lately...can't get over this fatigue....so I am not sure I will take the drive. Really want to spend time with my daughter, but it have to be smart about it. I also hate it when she sees me not doing well. I think that is just guilt from her seeing me with cancer since she was in 5 th grade. The upside is..I have gotten a ton of knitting done since I do nothing but sit around on my screen porch when I am not working..lol
And my dog is just getting over being sick...bad intestines since Tuesday. She is 14, and
we are lucky she wakes us up when she has the diarrhea...poor thing. Got meds for her today...so,maybe we will all sleep tonight.
I know...you are all thinking....stop typing already ...ok I will .....having trouble falling asleep

Thanks Susan, for that story about your MIL.... I know they should help her in some way, other than keeping her in that house!
I guess they think since she has a house-keeper once a week, someone to take her to beauty shop, and church, and they take her shopping and give her showers, that she doesn't need to leave .... yet!
But if it were my Mom, I would talk to her about WHERE she will go, if something happens... We did that a little, and I asked her if she could go live with them, and she said "they didn't ask me."...
It's just too bad that she is either subconsciously trying to get MORE attention or help, or just really having issues with her health.
Okay, I think I have it figured out how to transfer data & programs I really want to keep, like iTunes, Picassa, the Screen-saver that I paid for, etc.....
I transferred that stuff over to a little flash-drive! I could have bought a transfer cable, to move programs, but I don't WANT to keep all the programs I have now, so the ones I want, I can plug that flash-drive in, and use them when I WANT them, and not fill up my new computer with all those files!
It will be nice to start out with everything new... like it was when I got THIS computer....
I also have a disk that will wipe all data clean, when I want to take this computer up to this recycle place.
Where is that Cammi? I think we scared her away! She sure hasn't pitched in with any help with this computer talk, Ha!

Oh Wait! Blessings, I'm so sorry you fell! Man, even if you didn't break anything, it just shakes the begeezus out of you! Sometimes it takes a few days to feel "normal" again! And a hard HIT like that anywhere, will take a few days to recover from... Can you use heat on your hip, or places that hurt? And how about Tylenol or something for bruising?

yeah Chevy, I can stop. I was staying till Friday and then she is coming back with me, then taking the train back on Monday. So she can drive me home. She is coming back with me cause I bought tickets to "the tomato throw" here in chicago. It's at soldier field and everyone throws rotten tomatoes at each other...ha ha.....I love doing stupid things that make me laugh. I can also stop at 2 hours and stay over night. If I had too. Or take the train..I have options....just don't want to go up there Nd the. I can't do anything but sit around...she wouldn't care...my issues...
Wish I could help u with computer...I would be the last person on the planet to know anything. Hubby just got a new dell a month ago. Nice lap top...huge screen...and switched to exfinity ( I think), and everything is real fast. My cousin bought me an I pad 2 yrs ago, that is what I use. But my friends who are awesome with techy stuff, said they had to relearn a lot of stuff with windows 8, hubby got 4 yrs of tech support with the computer. He has been on the phone a lot...lol

oh, and do dog is staying home with hubby...she got though the night last night without going to the bathroom. Think we are on the upswing......she was going to come with, but the kids don't have air conditioning . At 14, I didn't want her uncomfortable with the heat.

Blessing I'm so sorry about u'r fall, it's a PITA I fall all the time but thankfully in slow motion so I can adjust the fall--I do everything slow, but when u go down quckly u can really get hurt as we know like Chevy. U have to be extra careful.

And this comp talk is crazy for me--I know my computer can do all kinds of things but damn if I know how. And if it goes in the clouds no one know how to reverse it. Now I've heard so many peeps say they hate windows 8""" But as my DD1 said once u get used to it it's grest, except when someone comes in new if they don't know it she teaches it to the, Well she can't teach me not everyone is teachable she thinks everyone is, She Is so not like me, she's actually a lot of fun, but at work nothing is acceptable but the best--oh so not me, she must be horrible to work with, everything was always good enough for me.

Susan -where is lake Zurich ? I used to live in champaign- Urbana. I tell my children all the time we grew up without air conditioning and they simply can't comprehend that. Oh the good old days. We lived in the country on the top of a hill. We just left the windows open and the front door open ( so wind came through screen door ) all the time. I seriously don't remember sweating and we certainly didn't worry about someone coming in and killing us at night. No way I would do that now.

Patty, Lake zurich is 35 miles northwest of chicago and 45 minutes away from wisconsin on the lake geneva side.
Badger, yes I will have fun...hubby will be there also. But he used to pitch semi pro ball, so I will stay out of his way....it will be interesting how we clean up before getting into the car..hope we get cool pictures.
