Smarrty, glad you are in a better place then I was. Hope the new PS does right by you. Capsules--massaging? Have PS show you how to break a newly forming capsule. Even with daily massage, sometimes I'd get a change that needed breaking. Always worked, but every foob is different. The final truth is I think I can say that just in the last month the final re-con surgery pain is gone. That's 5 1/2 years. Still not declaring it done LOL. Same as when I stopped sleeping in neck traction in the 70's. It was very very long time before I disassembled it. Oddly, the armpit pain got worse right before thyroidectomy in April . It was a *&%$ okay now what. Decided to investigate after sx. It changed. Then worse after The RAI-131. Then slowly better. Now gone. Moffitt doc said it couldn't be related to thyroid experience. BUT I have a theory...............
Please, remember based on following several threads and the deconstruction thread, my foobs were very abnormal pain wise.. Look fairly abnormal too. There's a portion where above the cleavage without a bra, it goes off to the left. Not visible with a bra on. You can imagine the feeling standing in the grocery line where the tabloids are, caption "boob job gone wrong" some starlet(?) with a same look as mine. It was an OH WELL moment. There just to big too, so, there's a shelf. A good PS is worth there weight in gold. Mine had a great reputation. Maybe he has done thousands that looked great. I'm definitely not his poster child. Not dissastisfied enough to attempt any correction. Just don't want anyone thinking anything about my experience would apply to them.
Since he made me too big which was the 180 degree opposite of what I requested from day one, on meeting for consultation AND stated being wheeled into surgery, I stated that all surgical consents should have the agreed to size and product/style.

Luvgoats, I have kaiser, really can't change insurance until October, open enrollment, then have to wait for January to start looking. Hopefully the new ps is willing. Depending on what happens I have a girlfriend who went thru this 4 years ago and I might check with her doc and just pay of out pocket for a consult. I thought I'd also tell the doc that my DH doesn't touch me anymore, which he doesn't. The boobs were the only thing he did used to touch. These are not anything anyone would want to touch/fondle now!

Well figured out what to wear, I have really a lot of nice capris but I have to cover my ankles so I'll wear my ankle pants--I'm wearing blue and red so jewelry is blue and red. So I asked Joey to get me my blue nail polish out--yes I'm goofy--- so he couldn't find it--Why do I always forget he's color blind--so I picked it out and asked him what color he saw and it was gray--but it is a bright blue, yet he sees a blue sky---it's all in the shading, but he's never wrong with purple, but he can match clothes and jewelry just isn't sure what he's matching color wise--but shades match. I'll tell u, I', glad I can wear my gum shoes, they re comfortable for me, otherwise I'm miserable. OK maybe I'll be home earliyish or whatever.

Smaarty - Being Kaiser meaning HMO? Referrals, limited network? Does Kaiser do "regular" insurance now? HMOs at least non-Medicare ones never really took off in Texas. I suppose there are still some, well know there are some. The hosp. I worked for (26 years ago) tried it but it didn't last long. DH works for a nationwide co (retail) so HMO wouldn't work. We have BCBS which I have not had one quibble with. No clue if same company next year. Not sure what year in contract they are. Yes, like I said maybe being female she will have more compassion. Would b4/after pics from your current PS help? Maybe give her an idea of what you had you want back. No clue if PS would release those to you. Of course you have your own private ones to show her. Inquire what an out of pocket consult would cost; maybe your current one would tell you. Are you thinking this other one might be on a new insurance for next year? I see on our ins. the non-negotiated rate b4 the PPO discount.

Susan - me too. One daughter, 27. I was almost 35 when she was born. Never raised around kids, DB only 1.5 years younger than me. Never babysat. BFF had a boy then a girl and I fell in love with babies. My DM was shocked beyond words when I told her.

Smarrty chit on the massaging. DBF is fine with them. Might feel different if he weren't. For me , in the space of all the other CHIT That BC sx's, DH's illness & death, brain tumor that consummed years. I just didn't care that the foobs weren't pretty. Lucky DBF came into my life

Maybe gum shoes are like jelly shoes. Better not wear them on my pavement - they would be liquid.
All the drapes are closed. I hate this. I love to be able to look out though out front where I am I see mostly a huge sweetgum and a even bigger elm. Can't see the street for them. Just took the goats out cool water. DH forgot to put out 2 of 4 buckets (forgot the smaller ones) but he told me he forgot. I usually take them 2 cool buckets about this time anyway. How they made it thru the hot summer of 2011 when I was working I don't know. The roofline of their barn does start to shade the water between 1-2 so I know how they did it, that and a boatload of buckets. They're not real active in the heat, mostly lying around chewing cud but 2 were out eating hay.
I bet you Chevy and you Sassy remember this and prob. Cami. I had the measles (who knows what kind) and my DM had me bundled up in dark glasses on the front porch - had to have been 1958-1961. I feel like that little girl who has to have her eyes shaded when I sit in this dark house. But I must admit my elec. bills are manageable. I think I will pour cold coffee over ice, have some new pecan coffee cream in fridge. Wink - also a bottle of eggnog liquer leftover from Christmas.

LMG are you asking about heat and measles? Triggered a memory from 70's surgery days. A nurse came down with the measles. BUT not dx'd by her doc. Her MOM listened to her symptoms and said "You have the measles". Nurse friend said her mom turned the house heat up high. She popped out all over. Is that like your Mom putting you in the heat outside with glasses? Nurse friend out of work quite awhile.
Old knowledge lost with the ages, people knowing what to do passed on to the next generation. I remember around 1989-1990--multiple cases of measles at Kent State Univ, Ohio. Working ER, everyone asking what the s/s's were, getting out textbooks---none of us had a clue.
ChevyLOL, LOL I knew you'd do something with SAGE, couldn't resist---your really sagebrush LOL. On the gargle, yes , it taste awful. Family always thought it was GM's recipe. Then I was reading a history book compilation of "Folk Medicines". There was the recipe dated 1850. If it was written down in 1850, had to be older then 1850. Have always maintained that the orthodox medicine of the last couple of centuries threw away the "old remedies". Some of those old remedies got us here as a species. Admittedly, some remedies also killed. .... Did you look at the topic box?

We had the most beautiful rainbow last night! They even posted pictures of it over the Rockies game at Coors field.... My Daughter called me back at 8, yelling "MOM! WHAT ARE YOU DOING STILL UP? GO OUT DOORS AND LOOK AT THE RAINBOW!" It was just beautiful...... me standing out there with my socks and T-shirt, and laughing with my Daughter! So I came in, and went back to bed..... 2 fans on.... ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

No I think I was bundled up because it was probably winter in Albuquerque and mom was in lala land from me being inside. I bet I was in 1st grade or so. I brought home every communicable disease to my DB who is 18 months younger than me. My poor mother. There was something about the measles making your eyes weak? I think there must be a picture of this somewhere otherwise I'm not sure why it sticks so much in my memory. Anyway that's how I feel cooped up with the curtains closed.
My 1st nursing job was 11-7 started in May/June of my graduation year. I had the worst trouble sleeping until I got the bright (lightbulb) idea to paint BR dark seagreen and move bed to other end of room where I could hardly see my hand during the day. But this prob. wasn't until the following spring by my recollections. Improved but then took 1/2 of Unisom to sleep, not whole only 1/2. DH ordered UPS stuff all the time and in those days you still had to sign for it. I trained UPS lady she had to wait until I found some kind of shorts and made it to the door. Still to this day I can walk into dark kitchen in daytime and I get the same feelings from back then and not good ones.
Oh yes, the measles epidemic. DD had another booster while in elem. school d/t epidemic or immun. not doing as well (1994-95 maybe). County health dept came to her school - shows how serious they were and we were a middle class neighborhood school with lots of stay home moms. Can count among DD's friends lots of aerospace employed dads. We had a fair epidemic in a church out here last year. Non-vaccinators. I wholly support right to choose but OTOH I have a nephew who had a skull fx during birth and cannot take pertussis vac. so I wholly support herd immunity for his sake.
DH did get his vac. yest. I think he got TDaP not the TD. He said he felt that was more imp. than Pneumovax and since he does all the yard maintenance I agree. DH is very active for 63, don't think pneu. is going to get him anytime soon. I know local pharm. has them all, just need to find out reimbursement from ins. Gotta give him a shoutout. We lost 3 shingles from garage in last big wind storm. It is detached not finished inside so not that big a deal. He got up on roof (my knees shaking) and got them replaced - we had extras stored. I don't give him enough credit. Forgive my crudeness but we have a saying around here, a loving one believe it or not - Shithead strikes again.
Yes we have forgotten the old ways. I have several books living off grid type books. Did you ever see the Foxfire series of books? I have only one. I subscribe to the neatest mag. called "Countryside". It is full of old fashioned stuff. Worth looking for if you haunt HP Books kinda stuff even just to look thru a few.

got my sister's dress all done. Me in her dress. She bought the fabric and I made it. She liked a pattern that I had done for me. She'll be 60 on Tuesday. Youngest of the 4 of us. My GS who is 10 took the pic for me.

Debated with myself hard on what I'm about to say. VERY hard. Many had contact by PM or by phone with BlueBird. Our last contact was the night before the Wed. admission. Then she wrote here and signed her name Kristine. I sucked breath in when I saw that.
She was scheduled for a Pet scan in the am. Conversation ensued. Her issue at that moment was her lungs. Followed that trail in questioning. She had felt an increasing problem over days That was why the Pulm doc ordered the PET of her lungs. She was ordered to stop oral Pred. by pulm doc
She talked with a friend who was a pharmacist that morning . FBB had Symbicort given to her by a PCP as samples to take twice a day as needed. The friend told her to take the Symbicort that was on hand b/c her breathing was important. But the friend didn't tell her to call the pulmonologist. I told her anything with cort in it had prednisone. She said she was told to stop her prednisone for two weeks prior to PET scan by Pulm doc. We did a simultaneous look at computer as to why a corticosteroid should be stopped before a PET. We looked at the same info. Learned it hits the same receptor sites that the FDG injection for PET does. Left it with her to call Pulmonologist in the am and the PET scan folks b/c it could alter test results. She was very knowledgeable of signs and symptoms of breathing problems b/c Dh had asthma. Told her if at that point she needed to take another Symbicort dose her PCP had told her twice a day. If the outcome was the cancellation of the test it would be based on the am dose and that her breathing comfort was more important. What changed after our call I'll never know. I can say she was audibly fine.
There is a thing I've wanted studied for about 15 years as a tool of evaluating respiratory status. You can be standing next to someone and done a full evaluation of respiration, but talk to them on the phone and you can pick up a subtlety of shortness of breath that they have no awareness of, but can be picked up by phone-----has nothing to do with my hearing loss. Kristine was good. But the other key that precedes that is the persons description. The Symbicort worked. But it wasn't prescribed by the Pulmonologist. The Pulm doc didn't know about the Symbicort. I told her that there were too many cooks in the kitchen. She agreed.
Why the story? Kristine was never asked about immunizations pre-chemo. No care by her docs was considered to protect her in a reduced immune state. She developed pneumonia during chemo that turned into pneumonitis. Her lungs after this, were a problem. Would this of occurred if she had the Pneumovax. I don't have that answer. I do know that Pneumovax protects against 23 different types of bacteria.
When the MRI in DEC 2008 identified I had a focus that had all the characteristic's consistent with BC, I immediately looked at all my immunizations. Not knowing how fast a bx would be scheduled. Re-upped on Pneumovax.
Pneumovax changed the world. In the USA there was a CDC initiative thru the Public Health Department in the 90's to vaccinate all those at risk by________date- forget date, but remember it was past the date. I'd taken over the care of a dear relative in 1997. First action was to take her for the vaccine. Saw the CDC statement publication in the waiting room. Thought, well they have (*^$*&% missed informing everyone of the initiative.
Now it's 2014
Considering the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics, the best gift you can give to yourself is protection. Please, talk to your docs.

Oh yes there is a big push in hosp. to get the Pneumovax order. If I remember and that's a big if it hits your dashboard of all eligible patients every time you sign on. My doc only brought it up with me because I asked about shingles vac. which he does not handle but does have Pneu. so that's what I got that day. I think I prob. made the right choice between that and TDaP which I still need to get. Maybe when I'm sitting at home next week will toddle to pharmacy and get it done. It's been at least 3 months since I had Pneum. Same doc didn't even mention immun. to DH. He had to ask for the TD. That and they let him get away without registering for the online portal. Geesh. Now I will have to track down his labs when he finally gets them done. He never goes fasting - 1015 appt which meant I think he was lucky to get out by 1130. No point when Quest lab is 10 miles down the road and they take appts.
You would think immun. would be on their A list like a peds office. Too bad I won't see this doc until next March. He is head of EMR for this large multi-spec. practice 140+ docs (PCP-IM, BS and gyn all part of it and the ortho I went to last year). The only thing they seem to be lacking is some cardios and gastro. Looks like they have 6-7 hospitalists several of which I knew/had great respect for. No interaction with the others - prob. went to diff. part of the city.
But yes will get on him to get Pneu. as well. MO didn't cover any of this either. His only comment was yes get shingles vac. after I finally asked him about it sometime last year or maybe late 2012.

) removing her eyes was the right decision. I love the baby and big dog picture Enerva...so darling. The dog knows to be gentle. Animals are amazing.

MammaRay, I was really scared and nervous before my exchange surgery, but also wanted those TE's out of me. I can tell you for me the second surgery, the exchange, was a breeze. So you are having this done next month right? We will be here for you.

Goats, I think you got the right vaccine too since Pneu can weaken a person so quickly. I asked my doc about the different preventive vaccinations and was told the ones without the live viruses were best. Huh?? So I'm assuming, look at me assuming, we all know what that means...that flu virus are dead so that shot is safe, but really wonder about shingles, whooping cough, Pneu etc...hope Sas can chime in on this. My immune system is bad, if I get preventive vaccination that contain live virus will I get sick?
Time to cook dinner. Very hot here, got up to 105. My fur babies and I took a nap this afternoon with the air conditioner on. Feeling lazy on these hot days.

But you are still getting specialized treatments with your iron infusions. So your doc's guidelines are the most imp. Sassy's getting us (in the plural - us and families) to be proactive. New insurance guidelines will force us to. Everyone will have to become the ultimate consumer. Docs will be so pressed for time you better make your case quickly. I see it already. PCP for sure, not so much with MO but then most of the time I have little to ask him. If I did he better darned tootin make the time. Just saying healthcare is a changing for everyone.
102 at DFW airport; only 100 out here. But only 50 something for a dewpoint. For us that's pretty good. In the shade with a breeze not too bad. We're getting another rain/relatively cooler spell mid week. Parts of the metroplex got nary a drop last time while up towards the OK/TX border they had 10-12". We had a little over 2". I have yet to water the "yard" this year. I have drip hoses for the foundation but haven't used them. Water my tiny backyard with twirly sprinkler. The rest has to fend for itself. I do have to dump some water on my fig bush-not big enough to be tree-tomorrow. The one thing outside of backyard I do water. If we miss the rain I am going to have to water. I'll have to look at my 2 watering days. I know one is Sunday which is a bummer - I can't water b4 the 10am cutoff and get to church. Have you had any rain? Seems like I saw a series of tropical waves in the Pacific. Any chance they will help your rain situation?

Smarty....Nice work on the dress and nice smile. My mother taught me to use a sewing machine when I was 11. I did well and took some swing classes in junior high and high school. I just didn't get that into it. I took up woodworking in my 30's. I'll have to posts some pics someday.

Thank you Goats for the info on the vaccines. I agree with you that health care is definitely changing. I see it's hot where you live as well. No rain here by me, but a town near me, in the wine country, got some light rain for the last two days so maybe there is hope I'll get some rain. Probably make it more humid though
Thanks MammaRay for the response. I'm sorry you have to deal with a hysterectomy after your exchange surgery. It's too much. I hope recovery is smooth and pain free. I had a total hystectomy many years ago, so I feel for you. Hope you stay on this thread so we get to know you more and help you through the two upcoming surgeries.
Someone is shooting off large fireworks in the countryside behind my house. Poor Snuggs and Annie Mae are huddled together hiding under the bed. Hope the loud noise ends soon or it will be a long sleepless night.

So I get up this morning, with my brain slightly engaged,

sometimes I think that no matter what you are taking or doing, it doesn't
matter. That our body can get so worn down, and it's like when something goes
wrong, we have to take THIS to fix it, but it causes some other thing to go
nuts...They thought they had a handle on what was wrong with my
Dad... but his body was so worn out, from a lot of bad habits, and when they
finally tried to fix THIS, then that caused his blood to be either to thin, or
too thick.... Every day to the hospital, to get THAT fixed... His legs were
swelling so bad, and leaking.... When I went to see him, I almost freaked
out... but I just started rubbing ointment on them, and took him BACK to the
hospital... He was okay again, for that day! But his body just couldn't keep up
with all his problems...I know our body will sometimes repair itself, if given 1/2
a chance and the right treatment, but throw different meds into the mix, and
things just go haywire. Sometimes we can't stop that cycle.So that's my perspective on what you are talking about...

Enerva I'll try a search for all the important vaccines. The link that LMG posted is a very good start. For the last about ten years in hospitals and homecare we had to ask about the flu and Pneumovax. The follow through was the key i.e getting the drug ordered and given. I know every PCP office visit I get asked.

Paws I haven't studied iron infusions other than the basics. Do you want a search done? I carry a gene for the opposite problem --it allows for buildup of too much iron--that I've studied Ad Nauseum.

Wren LOL you fly through and then are gone for days and days. I had a wren on time at my feeders up north just like your avatar. The whole family came to see him b/c it was unusual(?).
