My neighbor pulls dogs from shelters just before they are scheduled for being put to sleep. So she saved 5 dogs minutes before they were set for euthanasia. She lined up a rescue, but they can't get here until Monday morning. So the neighbors, me included, are housing these precious fur babies until Monday. The little terrier I got is so sweet. He was caged since August 7. Tears in my eyes as I watched him run freely around my back yard. He ate his dinner so fast and has been sleeping so deeply. Of course my girls see him as an intruder trying to steal their mommy. So I separated off a part of my kitchen for the little guy and found a bed for him. I'll post a pic from my iPhone. I think I'll name him Ziggy.

Oh Paws!  Can't you keep him?  I just want you to keep him...  PLEASE!  Bless YOU for taking care of those critters!

Smarty, that is the same computer I have!!!!!!!!!  And I really do love it!  Actually I tried to save some of my Documents to a Flash Drive, but I saved the "shortcut"  of Documents, and not the actual Document folders!

Any way, there was nothing that critical that I needed to save!

I just downloaded  my iTunes, Picassa,  and even my Nook books and Norton  from the Web, and they are on my new set-up!   I had so much "junk" on there, that I didn't need, and I don't miss, what I didn't get to my new computer.   Same with all my "downloads".....  And I had 3 picture programs!

I figured even if I did transfer some of them over, they might be corrupted, and I just wanted to keep a "clean" computer.

Cammi, just  hang with us here!   I don't usually mean to sound so intelligent, but sometimes I just HAVE to...  don't say a word.  You just want me to be gardening, and chickin' sittin' and not talk technical stuff.....

Oh wait!  Smarty, my recipe for that snack-mix, was just throw everything in together that you like!  Dark Chocolate covered anythings, dried fruits, and coconut,  cranberries, apricots, pineapple chunks, and mango pieces!  And plain almonds or even dark chocolate covered ones.... or Walnuts!   Yogurt covered raisins are good too....   This last batch I made, I used Peanut M&M's!  Loopy  If you only eat a handful once in awhile, like once a day, you will  find it makes you happy!  Ha, ha!  That's probably all it does....

Enerva.... don't go watchin' sad movies....  I just like happy ones....

SailingWind!  I just can't reMEMBER you!   I had to look up what they were talking about too!  I take Aleve once in awhile, because if you take 2, like it says, it lasts all the damn day!  Or night!   And you don't have to take pills every 4 hours...

I know you are not supposed to mix Tylenol and Aleve...  Nope, don't do that....  But Aleve worked better for me, for that broken bone stuff, than Oxycodone....   And it doesn't mess you up, like the other drugs.  That isn't exactly technical talk, but you know what I mean.

good morning owls!  Been awake since 4:30 a.m. (d*mn foot & leg cramps) and it seems to have taken me two hours to read through all the posts from this week.  OK I did have a couple cups of coffee and read the newspaper too so maybe it only took an hour LOL.

welcome Anita, is there anyone else new?

Susan, you are beautiful and rock the 'do.

Blessings, thanks for several excellent posts, you ARE a blessing.  Great description of the slot-machine word search in the brain - right on!

Thanks for all the kind words about my dad.  His mom had Alz too but back then they didn't know about that, they called it hardening of the arteries in the brain.

Alyson, good to see you, best wishes for less RH pain.

I know I'm missing a lot of people so ((hugs)) to all.  ♥

    Good Morning all.....

    image

I am so far behind, but wanted to check in.

Sas, thanks for the PM & insurance info....I have been thrifting a little. I got a Norwegian, painted ( says silkscreen ) bread type trivet. It shows wheat being planted, harvested...cute & artsy. Also got a little Homer Laughlin harvest  looking dish. How do you figure out what is what in glass? I have plenty of serving type dishes, relish trays. I usually do not even look at the glass much, cause I do not know what is "good" & what is cheap. I did buy a very heavy feeling candy/relish dish a few months back.

Susan, thank-you for forwarding the card... How are you feeling ? When I was sick, I was annoyed when someone would ask me that, cause I wanted to scream, "I feel like chit". Your photos are lovely, hat & no hat...

Badger, tonic water for your cramps, maybe help, it has quinine in it. I no longer like tonic, I did until a few years back. Not a good way to start the weekend.

DH is doing well, had Dr. Appt, got staples out. Hopefully the staph does not come back. He will be in IV antibiotics for another 3-4 weeks.

I have not been able to get moving on fixing the basement. Too many decisions, paint the big room, cause its bright yellow, before the new carpet gets laid ? I have not done anything beside wash all the towels & rugs. It's been 10 days....I am a slug when it comes to house stuff. Get out of the house, to do whatever, my energy level goes up.

    Blessings, how it going?

Phylissdoingchemo, are you hanging in there?

Cami, are you having another Italian 16 hour party? Smelling good or feeling floppy?

Hole I'm glad u'r DH is doing better.

Oh I forgot what everyone wrote, just hope everyone is doing OK.

I misspelled my word--it's floopy, not floppy LOL--I did take a shower this morning using Forever sunshine??? It just smell clean nothing specific but clean is what I like LOL-maybe this is good when I don't take a shower. Not so floopy today--had some calls this morning so I was working a little.

I'll be back, but I hope everyone had a nice day---we're supposed to get rain here, who knows, not even the weatherpeople.

    HUGS to all

Anyone here taking femara? If so, how long before side effects, if any?  I've only taken 3 doses and could hardly get out of bed. Just wonder if this is normal.

Spookies I want to live where you live. So beautiful. You and Enerva both post calm peaceful places to walk.

Morning Cami, well it's afternoon by you. Forever sunshine sounds nice. Glad you're not so floopy today ;)

HiO, glad your husband is doing better. Wish I lived closer,I'd paint your basement for you. I love to paint.

Hi Chevy, my little ziggy foster is being transported to his forever home in Washington state. I got the updated news this morning. His flight leaves at 10 am Monday. He really is a great little dog. He'd be a great therapy dog.

Hi Badger, sorry you had foot and leg cramps last night and woke up so early. Hope there is less pain today.

    Hugs to all, happy Saturday.

Just realized I didn't replace the bar of soap under the mattress pad when I stripped the bed and washed all the bedding last weekend.  The bar of soap trick is a folk remedy that works for me, and here's more anecdotal evidence.

    Hey cami, you could be either CAM-ILLEGAL or CAMIL-LEGAL  !! :) ♥

Oh GOOD Paws!  He will be someone's guardian angel, just like all of you were!

Badger, I tried the soap trick for leg cramps when I was taking Tamoxifen, and for me, it didn't work!  I even put 2 bars in between the sheets!   But when I quit taking it, the cramps went away....  along with my sleepless nights....!  Ha!  Also, I can thank Tamoxifen for losing my hearing....  but it helps so many OTHER women.

Oh Chevy how cute and homey u;r garden looks,

Nettie I don't hear as many women on Famara as on the others. My sister does take it, but she's some kind of cyborg (which I figured out) that crazy women hardly gets anything for SE'S so as much as she asks me how I feel I usually tell her Im OK cuz all she gets is SOME aches and she's Stage IV working full time and here I am like an old cripple and she's older than me. Needless to say she's a b*tch---LOL But I do know Aromasin hashurt me badly and it started pretty quickly.

Oh yea, I ditched the Aromasin, was hoping dr wouldn't put me on another but oh well, I will probably ditch this one too. But you must remember, I'm only 2% er+, technically treated as tnbc until the very end.

Oh Cami, you could be floopy AND floppy And if you were out with your GF's,  then maybe they'd want to take you to ER or jail.

HI1--- Oh what fun, thrifting talk :) The bread board sounds sweet. Homer Laughlin dishes are always dependably nice. HL is one of the only large manufactures of dishes left in the USA.

What to buy? If I'm not  familiar with the manufacturer, then I use the following criteria 1. price--Am I willing to part with the money. 2. Do I have a use for it or is it nice enough to gift 3.does it appeal to me. 4. do I have a place to store it.

Identifying glass or china. Oddly, I have to keep re-learning to go to EBAY first. Look at the piece and put in it's description. Makers mark if present, determine if it is pressed glass, blown, or block glass. Block glass is generally very heavy with cuts/facets, and characteristics.i.e  clear glass with faceted ball in stem---- within minutes I have found many examples and then compared what I have with pic.

If I make a hit. Then I try to find a seller that has identified the piece. In the case of the last find several sellers took the time to identify the pattern. Import Associates-Claudia pattern. R.c lists them for 10$ a piece, I got 9 for 3.37$. BUT another store had 4 @ 3.00$ a piece.(it was before I knew the pattern). I felt they were nice, but over priced. BUT if I felt i wanted them to have enough for a gathering or dinner I would have bought them.

One time I thrifted 5 cobalt stemmed glasses with dots on the bowl--2.00$ each=10.00$. They're kind of goofy and unusal. EBAY used Keywords--stemmed , cobalt, dots . The search brought up one glass.and the seller had it identified. I watched it for several weeks. I bought it for $23.95. R.c has no price. The 5 were priced right, the 6th overpriced. The point --you never know what you will do until you do it. LOL.

    Lrs106 pattern by Libbey/rock SharpeLrs106 pattern by Libbey/rock Sharpe

The Waterford Millineum plates, that I posted awhile back were simple LOL after spending several hours on R.c I went to EBAY The Waterford mark was present. The key search words were  "Waterford luncheon plate and wheat and heart" Brought them up right away. Then back to R.c

Replacements.com(R.c) is a great place to identify perceived value. Like the Millineum plates have a R.c value of 40.00$ each. I paid 2.50$ each. R.c is very difficult to use to identify pattern b/c there are literally thousands.

Sometimes it's just persistance, whats fun about that is learning along the way :)

I passed on this one yesterday.  I liked it but difficult storage and no one to gift too. Price was okay @ $12.00. I knew it was elegant glass( block and etched). with attached pressed handle

Elegant is actually a technical word. It's used with blown and block glass.

Just found it by Keyword--- Fleur De Lis. Hmm may go back.

Sas you got me going on antique sites tonight, checking out some things I've acquired over the years. No real gems so far. Is anyone still up out there tonight ? Can't sleep in lots of pain, I had my first boost rad yesterday.and will be done on Thurs. I have done pretty well up until now, despite significant burning, it was not too painful, mostly itchy, but tonight the burning, swelling and pulling under the arm are pretty bad. Hoping things settle down soon. Thanks for listening. Stephanie

  • Hi 3rd/Stephanie, I'm here, at least for a while. Almost midnight here and watching Mrs. Doubtfire. 2-minute cleaning and stuff during commercials.

Morning gals!  What choo all doin'?  Sleeping?  I hope so anyway.

Sailing, you know I was taking anti-biotics right after surgery also, because they implanted the MammoSite device in me for the Rads, but I got an infection anyway, so they gave me aNOTHER one to take along with it...

And one time I had Pneumonia, and took an antibiotic, but I just kept getting sicker, so they switched me to a different one!  Make sure you tell them whether your antibiotic is working or not, because SOME work better for different problems!  And that's about all I know about that stuff...Winking

Yes, just ask questions about anything you want to know....  we don't always know the answer, but we can bluff it...  or just make you feel better...Ha!    You are just new to all of this....  Oh wait.... I see you said "External Beam Radiation Therapy".... Is that different than the traditional type of Radiation?  And for how long?

Just remember, ANY type of radiation will just knock your scocks off....  It makes you so tired you will fall asleep walking to the front door!   THAT'S when you will sleep...  Not any other time, but you will with radiation!

Blessings!  You are "foggy"  ???  Like Cammi?  Oh no, I mean she is "floopy"....  Must be different... Just take care of yourself....

Hi 22222222222ns and 333333333333rd!  Hah!  You guys posted together!

Sass, I remember you mentioning you like Free Cell!  I just started playing that again a couple weeks ago!  Drives you nuts, right?  I just LOVE when I can beat it, but I haven't been able to lately...It can take up too much time.

Okay, well I guess if you gals are still SLEEPING, I guess I'll just go do something ELSE!  xoxoxo

Chevy, freecell OH MY what a time waster. Two pack game . My best time 3:33minutes. It.so fast with touch screen. The mouse would just slow me down

    we have2222&3333&444444

scocks is that like socks? Maybe we should ask meece to add scoks and floppy and floopy and chit to the abbreviation list?

3rd. yay on antiquing , junking, junqueing. There are thousands of patterns and manufacturers. I think it's fun to find the info. But the absolute important thing is whether or not you like a piece. Then the using it is important. My stuff has to "work". If it doesn't have a use, it will be gone soon. I have things that I make artifacts out of i.e up on the high shelves over the windows and kneewall. They are sitting there so at first thought they aren't "working". But I attempt to arrangethem so that there is some artistry to the presentation. They please my eye. From that perspective they are "working".

Hope the pain improves :( Do you go to Warm and Fuzzies to get some laughs? The link is in the topic box.

Blessings, Sorry you still feel foggy, but you seemed to be better than at first?

Sailings Hope you feel better tooo.AND the infection heals.

Off to search Waving at everyone WAVEEVAWAVEEVAW.

HI1 and 3333333333----found it, Another way to locate stuff is use images on google. I only started using it in the last few months.

A few years ago. I found this little plate Arched Fleur-De-Lis by Bryce Higbee made in 1907. It was at the salvation Army thrift. I paid 0.25 cents. I have it on a display stand. The way it "works" is to just make me smile when I see it :) The pic doesn't do it justice :)
