I missed the conversation about Pbrain's expertise .
Took awhile before she told us about her work. Of course she was in the throes of a really, really rough trip through this treatment minefield . Then.. Little by little she started sharing her brilliance . And she does it in a way that we can all understand without lording over us.
My breast surgeon for whom I have huge gratitude and respect told me that research scientists like PBrain are the most knowledgeable people in the cancer community.
Wonder if it's that propeller beanie?

Lol Ashla - I think you may be right - the hat may be the cause!! I know she has helped me immensely during this ordeal for me - giving me good alternative explanations!! We are indeed lucky to have her as well as so many of you bring things to the discussion whether it is new studies or humor or cheering on. All is so important during this journey. If I haven't said it recently - again - thanks to you all!!

Found some good news...my two lumps I found on my scar were both seromas and drained today! One was obvious and one was questionable, so a big relief! Love my BS!!!

thanks ashla, the spots are almost gone and the nerve pains only happen occasionally now. I think I must have had a mild case. Either that or the meds worked wonders.

Kathec - had a scar excision in May just before rads. BS feels that the rads caused the seromas to form. My thoughts were similar to yours, long time out...my BS explained it very well to me. She said when we create an area of injury, scars do not start forming immediately, they form over time. That time frame is different for everyone and even scars can continue to change over years...(ie: fade, shrink, thicken etc...) It was a huge relief! Now to keep my body from trying to close port....hopefully 3rd port study is a charm...

Today is 7 weeks PFC - still have the back pain and muscle twitches at times. Eyes are not running anymore. Stomach is still a mess at times and I have white peach fuzz on my head and I mean WHITE lol. I didn't have any gray pre-chemo - this is going to be interesting to see what comes in. I wore my "Heck Yes they are Fake, The real ones were trying to kill me" tshirt to the PS yesterday. He LOVED it and told me he will miss me when we are done. I also went out to dinner with my DD and DH with that shirt on and managed to score a free meal from the manager at Carabas - she loved the shirt also. The free meal paid for the tshirt

Robin, has your hair grown that much since chemo (is that a recent photo of you)? Linda and Robin, glad for good news! Bren, glad you're feeling better. I'm 1-1/2 weeks PFC. Last week was rough but I've been feeling a lot better the last couple of days. Can't wait for hair to start growing back, even though I may have to apply color pretty quickly

For all of you who have recently finished chemo, I hope you start feeling better soon. I think for many of us it took 4-6 weeks to start to feel better. It will take more than that for many of the SE's to resolve, but it will happen! Hang in there, you will feel better!

LOL! Yes that is my hair. It grows abnormally fast. Even my onc's office has commented on how quick it is. Here it is in a bigger version. This is all growth since the middle of April.

Ashla, you are so sweet! And you too Linda. I'm really only well trained in laboratory medicine, so I can help with blood/urine and body fluid testing. I know a bit about radiology because those clowns work in diagnostics like I do. But breast cancer threw me for a loop. My specialty has always been cardiovascular (research) and not cancer. What me? Get cancer? We don't have cancer in our family!
Everybody here brings such amazing support to this board and I would never have gotten through this without knowing I could come and wail to all of you guys! And I still can't without you guys!
And to everyone finishing chemo, keep the faith. I took way longer than most to feel better, I think. I was a "special" case of some sort. I was still wearing diapers in November when I'd finished chemo in late February. But each little step, each little win, made me so happy. Now, absolutely normal, strong, feeling better than ever. If I could talk to myself back then though, I would say "patience, Grasshopper!"
And Robin, you still look like you are 21 years old. I need your secret for gorgeous skin!

I'm back and doing better. We stopped by the service on Saturday. he was Christian, but Hiindu by culture. He had also studied the Koran and Buddhism. The Hindu service is run by the eldest male, in this case his son, and it was three hours of people that got up to talk about him. We were there about 45 minutes. What I found astounding is the number of docs that worked with him that wanted to speak and tell a story. It was pretty neat. Lots of hugs and tears with the staff helped put some closure to it.
My next appt is mid October. I think I will keep that one and get all the bloodwork done and see whomever I am assigned too, but I am starting the search for a new onc. My NP is helping. I know who he said he would go to if he had cancer, and he is a great guy, however he is 64 years old. Given that this whole thing is so long term, I feel like I need to find someone who is early 40's and will be with me for a long time.
Congrats to all the good news! My good news is that I got to go with my future daughter in law, her mom and her sister to see the wedding dress she has chosen. It was nice to get back into the fun on sunday after being so depressed on Friday and Saturday. Interesting to see the article on aspirin. My NP friend and her Doc husband were just talking about that on Saturday night. Good think my favorite OTC pain med is aspiring or Advil. However, I took that before diagnosis also, so not sure I buy into it totally.
