    Natsfan, I say if we have a battle of the beltway we meet up and watch a game together!

    Today I did the couch to 5k and then my husband made me run all the way home about another mile and a half! I did it but my hamstring is TIGHT!

    I actually found yoga for breast cancer patients of all places in the hospital I have my treatment! They have a patient services department that no one told me about and I found it online.....hmmm

    10/4- nice 50 min walk in the nearby park with a friend and her 4 year old son in his stroller. Nice work out and good visit too!

    Ruthbru- thanks for the words of encouragement. I have things in my closet that are starting to fit better (or fit for the first time in a long time) but think you may be right about new smaller sizes coming too!

    Well, I have done my exercise the last 2 days. I did some weird cross trainer yesterday and burned 600 calories then I did a couple of weights. Today I spent around 30 mins on the treadmill, did a few machines, weights and 10 floors according to the tread climber.

    Yesterday I bought some sort of detox juice from GNC and was going to try that (eating allowed) for 2 days to try to drop a couple of pounds. Today I was about 1 1/2 pounds lighter on the scale at the gym but now comes the problem.

    Does anybody know how to deal with living with somebody that thwarts your attempts to be healthy. My husband is obese. He exercises and does not drink beer or eat fried food but he fills the refrigerator with things he knows upset me.  He buys CASES (not single) kitkats and large packs of cheesits for example, and leaves them where I find them. He has no interest in helping me be more healthy or understanding my cancer or medication or possible side effects like difficulty losing weight.

    Today I was pleased with my exercise but spoiled it all by eating 3 @#&$ing kikats from the pile he left in the refrigerator and just wanted to cry. I can't talk to him as it would just cause a fight . He already knows how I feel but pays no attention so what I need is a suggestion for resisting all the crap that he buys. Help! Lol.

    Lyzzy, sounds like my husband! In my case, he isn't trying to thwart my attempts to be healthy....he just likes licorice, ice cream bars, chips etc. etc. etc.....all the things that I won't buy! Other than buying them separate fridges, paddle locking them & giving them the only key to the DH, the only thing we can do is to try to exercise will power....something I am extremely bad it....I have to do loseit.com or some monitoring thing like those so that I have to record every morsel that I eat Scared.

    I REALLY want to go to bed, but Mary's game is STILL on.....it's now the bottom of the 15th......

    Ah geez Mary, sorry about the game's outcome! I tried to telepathically send 'hit the ball' messages to Denard Span....but obviously they did not get through Scared.

    Now I really AM going to go to bed!!!

    8:30 yoga for son and I and just in from a sunny, 6.85 mile run.

    lyzzysmom, my husband is in very good shape but he is a carnivore and drinks daily. My ultimate goal is to go back to being vegan and cut down on the alcohol. I added seafood after surgery because I wanted to get enough protein to heal. He loves to cook and it really depresses him that I won't eat the same things as he does plus he constantly pours me drinks. I have told him my goals but he seems to forget. If you figure anything out let me know!

    Lyzzysmom the only advise I can offer on the spouses buying bad food is to put it out of your view.  If the kit kats are in the fridge, cover them with other food or a paper towel. Of course I never buy that junk, but when my family goes to the store, they will buy all of it, the donuts, the Cheez-Its.  If I see them in my view, I put them in the cabinet and that helps me quite a lot to not have that visual trigger several times a day.  I'm still not perfect either, but the less I eat sweets the less I like most of them, and then that's a lesson for next time.  Maybe you will inspire your husband and he'll join you.

    Thank you ladies. It helps to know others are battling the refrigerator Santa too. I will keep those snacks covered and out of sight as best I can and try not to be too hard on DH when he gets them. He is diabetic so should be careful himself but a sweet tooth is a difficult thing to ignore!

    This morning has been great. I took my golden retriever Hogan on a run, did some Pilates poolside and then we both swam laps. I've got one tired dog!

    Ran out of steam this morning before I could get to the craft room. At least I got to the dishes!

    Twohobbies and LAROCK, I admire your perseverance regardless of the weather conditions. 

    Lzzysmom, agree it is much harder when we live with those with sweet cravings. My husband is a small guy who can eat whatever he wants without ever gaining a pound. And he hates vegetables....LOL luckily for us, I don't mind living vicariously through his diet..... ha ha

    Mary, sorry about the Nats game. 

    Exercise for me this weekend has been lots of walking while running errands and getting my MIL from the local airport. Squeezed in some weeding and laundry too.

    Had lots of energy this morning so decided I'd try one of my P90X dvds , Kenpo. Well, it starts with all kinds of punches and I immediately felt a soreness in my left breast so I thought I'd better give that a rest!

    Maybe a long walk later.

    Hi All. Just returned from my fast walk/run. What a difference the weather makes. Sorry about your heat, LARock and Cheryl. We finally have lovely weather today. It's 65 degrees, Carolina blue sky, low low humidity, and a refreshing cool breeze blowing. And the Carolina Panthers beat the Chicago Bears! Have a great week everyone!

    I don't know if it counts as exercise but it does require some effort. Went to the beach with the family but since I still can't balance my weight on my right leg (from the fracture last year) I have to walk with either a cane or a walker. I use the walker to go to the beach but what ends up happening is that I "lift" the walker and take a couple of steps, then I "land" on the walker for stability and repeat. So I must have "walked" about 100 ft back and forth. The weather was delicious and even though I did not get in the water I enjoyed the breeze and sunshine. So oxygen intake and Vitamin D. Everyone I hope you all have a restful evening in preparation for the busy week.

    Thanks everyone. I should have said I came in 3rd place in my age group 50-59 women. There were actually only about 6 of us in that category but it was still pretty exciting!

    Today DH and I took a 4.5 mile walk along an old rail bed trail. Beautiful walk and nice to spend some quiet time together after the crazy, stressful week we had.

    I think that probably counts as double work, Aurora! I love, love, love the beach......nothing is better for the body & the soul than sand, sun & surf!

    I did an hour of core & lower body pilates with Denise Austin this afternoon. I am NOT going to start watching a baseball game because I really do want to get to bed early tonight!

    Did not do a whole lot today but I am watching the Patriots just now and after last week I think that should raise my heart rate.

    Tomorrow morning I have my 30 min session with trainer so will be guaranteed a decent workout! I am busy in the PM but may get a walk in later.

    Yesterday I did laundry and walked around the store grocery shopping.  I also went up and down the stairs at home a ridiculous number of times!  Today I did 30 minutes on the stationary bike.   I have a yoga DVD that I want to try...hope to do that in the next couple of days.  Good night all!

    Nothing formal for me today but I did go down to San Diego and go to the Chargers game, so parking lot and stadium walking, we were lucky enough to have seats  that were in the shade I felt so bad for the people sitting in the blazing sun and kinda sorta bad  for the guys on the field  having to run up and down the field wearing all that gear. Ruth give Badger my best as well.  Auroaya that certainly counts as exercise. Ginger, 3rd place is 3rd place 'own it' cause you did it. Wonderland your weather sounds perfect hopefully our temps will start doing down this week.

    10/4- just did my short walk around the neighborhood today which was a nice 25 min twilight walk. I am going in for a 7 a.m. personal training session tomorrow before I start a new consulting gig for a client! I will do this most every monday from now on to ensure I keep up with my 3X a week training plan!

    Lyzzysmom- other people in my life try to get me to eat or drink things I no longer include in my lifestyle all the time. I drink very little, per the recommendations of the MOs (only a couple glasses a wine per week and usually only if there is a social event), and don't eat sugar anymore (gave it up a year ago). I have some people who tell me I can "give in" every once and awhile and my response is "I am following the recommendations of my doctors because I want to stay well." I tell them they can feel free to eat and drink whatever they want.

    That being said, having someone bringing tempting food in the house is a tough one. Have you talked to DH and said it might help you if the snack foods could be kept somewhere else as it is making it harder for you to stay on your plan? Maybe let him know you are working very hard to loose weight and be healthy, and it would help you if you did not have to look at those tempting snacks? 

    The only other thing is to create a mantra when you look at them and say "I am choosing health instead of a (Twix bar, cheese-its, fill in the blank)." I have little mantras I use to help me stay on track with healthy eating and regular exercise.

    Wonderland, that sounds fabulous! I'm totally jealous of all my friends fall pictures from the Midwest and east coast. Thankfully, it will cool down here in CA this week. 

    Perhaps it was the heat, or perhaps I overdid it with the morning activity, but I hit a major wall this afternoon and couldn't get off the couch for several hours.

    Lilacblue, lol on not looking too closely at your skin! That sure solves a lot of problems.   Auroaya, being out there, getting the oxygen and Vitamin D, already gives you a ton of benefits, you're right.   LARock, hope you feel better tomorrow. I notice we're both on the steps in our avatars. Mine was taken going up to a church for some very fit churchgoers.

    Now that I'm back on an AI I'm thinking of ways to get more weight-bearing exercise. I dusted off my long-forgotten bosu ball and did a workout I found on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ev610FWucY This woman made it look so easy. The bosu was heavier than I remembered it to be. It's clear I have some work to do here. I also get to learn more Spanish, so I'm doing something for my brain as well.

    Got my place cleaned up in anticipation of my new rug which I think will arrive this week. Plus, my 20+ mile ride yesterday in the Indian Summer sunshine. Then, I had a tomato frenzy making tomato pie for dinner and a gazpacho for taking in to the office today. Most of all, I got sleep which I really needed after a super-busy September.

    I don't feel at all like I got any exercise at all after chatting with my guy who did a 20 mile run yesterday in prep for the Marine Corps Marathon. Actually, I am super proud of him.

    Loving my new haircut from Saturday. Nice to feel chic again. I did not do any work which I think was a good thing.

    As for food, I try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables and usually succeed. Otherwise, I don't worry that much. I make most of my dinners from scratch and I think that makes a difference. When I eat sweets (such as that wonderful strawberry ice cream cone on Saturday), I eat the best I can find. I do like my wine, but I think not having had children was the greatest risk factor, or that I spent years in a marriage that was less than wonderful.

    I do know that exercise is the single most important thing you can do for yourself post treatment. And those who haven't been down this road should also be doing it!!! My MO says I am the only one of her patients who is nearly this active.

    Speaking of which....my exercise ball is calling my name. Then on to a busy day. - Claire

    Wow - everyone has been so busy!!   After a couple of long wacky post-season baseball games, I've been too tired to even think of logging in!

    Thanks for the condolences on the crazy Nats game Saturday night - we stayed all 18 innings in the FREEZING cold!  It was a great game between two great teams - I'm just sorry my Nats came out on the short end of it all.  We didn't get home till after 2am.  The good news is that I got 13,000 steps in before midnight, and another 2,000 after midnight.  We were exhausted Sunday, but were scheduled for a 6.5 mile run.  We didn't run with our running clinic group as that was way too early in the morning, but we did recover enough by 4pm to do our own run, so ended up with 23,000 steps yesterday.  Taking today off as a rest day - walking Mikey will be about the extent of my exercise.

    Here we are all bundled up at the game Saturday night - the Nats scarves and hats we're wearing were giveaway items in past games - we certainly needed them!  I love those funny little hats with the pompoms on top and the pigtails hanging down.

    Went to Yoga this morning, then got my flu shot & picked up branches in the yard for an hour (wind storm over the weekend....getting in shape for the upcoming leaf raking season). Zumba in a few minutes.
