Hi DoxieMom. Another one handed person. What a pita it is!
I love Athens, could move there tonight. So pretty! DD did grad school at UGa. Have to ask, is Jittery Joes and Weaver Ds still there
0 -
Hi Spookiesmom…DH is faculty at UGA. Jittery Joes is still open but the Weaver closed due to financial issues. We still have several places to get Southern food that IMO are better than Weaver D's. I am a native Georgian and Athens has become my favorite town to reside. Not too much traffic and always something to do, mainly because of UGA. Let me know when you want to visit!

Morning Owletess Newbies Glad To See You----Becky, Shianna, Doxie, CrazyBecky, sorry, this is the worst part. All the unknowns just suck. Do you have insurance? Are you working with people in network? It doesn't matter if your doc sent you to them, you can find someone in network. Call your insurance company pronto. Ask for a "Nurse Case Manager' Preferably, a Oncology Nurse Case Manager. If that RO is billing you direct, there's an insurance problem. OR you don't have insurance. If you have not used the medical system yet, you need to understand In-Network & Out-of network. Ask the insurance company to review with you all the providers and facilities you've used so far to make sure they are all in network.
If any of your providers so far are out of network--shame on them for not telling you. Fight the bills tooth and nail. They know better than to not cover payment at first contact.
Not to diminish your headache---tell the doc, let them do their evaluation thingy and if they say don't worry----try to let it go. ASK for some Ativan. Ask at the cancer center if they have a social worker on staff. Social Workers can help solve all kinds of problems. Also, ask if the have a counselor or if they can refer you to someone that counsels cancer patient. Honey, this is a MUST. A MUST. I believe not getting a counselor at the beginning of this stupid train ride will cause you so many problems. PTSD is very common among cancer patients. Please, do this. Puleese

Hi guys want to check the list. Easiet to just do it here. Thanks
Hi I'm sas-schatzi---sassy from the Insomnia thread. These are all links that I keep in my Favs, b/c they are related to stuff that happens to us. Some I've worked on. Others I haven't. I keep them in case someones has a question about a particular topic that is fairly common. Some are my threads, LOL like Constipation.
Just put them in your Favs and read later or as needed. You can always delete them if you find no value. Don't let this list overwhelm you. It's a resource list.
Click on them, look at the name, click on Favs.
The one you should start with is Just Diagnosed-- Get Prepared. -sassy

In case you don't have this link. It's a drug site that is great even though it was done by the government. Why is it GREAT! 1. after putting the drug name in the search box and the list is pulled up the first drug manufacturer is the one that originated the drug. 2. importance---all the pre-approval clinical trial documentation is there 3. all post marketing data is there 4. hyperlinks throughout to connect within the report for easy referencing between topics.

Doxie mom, my DD will be heartbroken about Weavers. She loved it, I was less than impressed, but still sorry it went under
0 -
Well I heard about her head injury, but didn't know that's what TBI stood for! Thanks for 'splaining it all to me again.
Remember, I had one of those when I was about 15.... but look now normal I turned out? CRS, but I am normal, as normal can be.... Ha!
Spookiewithablanket, andknowswhatit'sfor.... It is NOW 34 degrees out! And trying to snow.
Snow is what it does here in these parts in the Winter. Winter is a time of year when it snows.... for most normal States. No wait.... it is now 31 degrees. Snow is water that really gets hard when it is cold..... and it comes down from the sky....
Snowflakes are tiny little jewels that either float, or come down so hard, they blow your face off.
So preferably, most normal people stay IN, and don't get out in that stuff. And cover up with blankets..... And drink.... I'm going to fix a big cup of HOT tea.... Apple Cinnamon.

Oh man, I love this guy!

Oh here I am reading about the cold and a blanket when it's in the 50's--Holy chit it's colder tht an witch's nose (I cleaned it up) and Miss Chevy what does that mean when it's trying to snow, is that like constipation in the clouds or something, r the clouds are fighting, either it's snowing or not--u CO eople are all snowbrained cuz u'r state is known for it.
Doxie u'r in GA what a beautiful state, I always think of peaches not snow---OK u'r the one arm bandit? That is painful, but u can still use slot machines so always be thankful.for the little things.
Blondie I hope u'r resting now--(((HUGS))) always
OK sas has me totally confused and that's so simple to do but I'm really confused, but that's all right I'm used to that State and I actually live in IL--do u gals realize I've been working my little job for a yr now. ONE YEAR and still doing the same mistakes, and still asking if I'm getting fired. But like chevy they understand my thinking and put up with my spelling and transposing of numbers--it always the last 2 so I just told them if they have a wrong number just change the last 2 numbers and don't bother me with that. I'm so sweet.
Bcky I hope u got some rest--we're all here for u and rant, ask questions feel free about anything u say and feel comfort here. And Bcky maybe for now try to keep off the threads that explain way to much, it sounds scarier than what it is.
PK gotta get to work now.

Oh HAH! GEEZ you make me laugh!

Okay, weather update.... I know Sass and Spookie will get a kick out of this.... 4 hours ago, it was 64 degrees here.... Now it is 21! WTH?
Snow is pretty though.... I have to go put salt on the slick places out back....

Sassy - I'm pretty sure Shells is on Oahu not on the big island Hawaii so she's not in the lava flow. I've been watching "Hawaii Life" on HGTV. One couple either looked at or bought a house where the lava flow is. Guy asked "what is that black stuff" over there? Duh, it's lava rock.
Blessings - Hugs for you. Know you are wanting this to hurry along.
Ah sleep attack. When the couch calls even for 15 minute nap.
Bcky - One step at a time. One minute at a time if that's what it takes. "Just for this one minute I will ____" This is for sure the time most unsettling. When do you get some definitive answers about treatment plan? Take a second person to that appointment and any appt. where loads of info given. There will be parts you do not hear since you'll be busy formulating what to ask next. Make oncologist stop/clarify/repeat what ever it takes. He/she is working for you. I am just grateful that medical science even though it has not found a cure has made so many strides. I cannot imagine having BC in my mother's time. AI's, antinausea drugs, chemo drugs, Tamoxifen, diagnosis modes. Heck the words BC weren't even spoken. Sassy has given you a bunch of links. Overwhelming for sure but all valuable. I wish, oh how I wish, I had found this site b4 my surgery. I sure would have had lots of my questions answered.
Yes this thread is a lot of fun. But in all seriousness we are here for support. There is nearly always some one up late. I agree with whatever it takes to help you sleep right now. Hope you've been able to make some calls about your bills. I'm much bolder on the phone haha.

It's 80 degrees here. You can tell the SW wind is feeding into something. It is just howling. Goaties are having a leaf eating feast.

Ah, she's such a little smarty-pants! And SHE is freezing! Poor baby....It is now 19 degrees here now. Go get a blanket!
A blanket is what you need little Spook.... WE have a "blanket" of snow here now.... Snow is actually calcified water..... coming from a cloudy sky.
I'll send you a picture, because you have probably never even SEEN any.
You know, one time when we were in Orlando in Celebration, after Dinner at that one fun little restaurant, we were outdoors, and they made it "snow!" It really was beautiful out. It was almost Christmas, so they had everything decorated, and somehow made "snow" from soap! Little flakes of "snow!"
Yes, it was slippery, but so pretty out....not like here... This is not pretty.... and very cold... Cold is when.......

This is what snow looks like.... but without the blue sky.... Ha! Picassa "enhanced" this from last year.... I took this picture from our front yard, because it WAS pretty after that snow storm....
They painted that house to the left.... A pretty Salmon and white.... ANYthing looks better than it did...Ha!

OMD Chevy all the bad boys in one film. But I'm way behind times, this is #7. I only saw #1. I see that they have a few moments of actually talking. It was probably all in the film preview LOL. The guys are HUNKS. DBF would love this, maybe I'll take him for his BD next week. .......Glad you figured out 8.1, it can be fun
I have a camera on mine, but can't figure out how to get a pic to transfer to here-----Lessons please
.................A 43 temperature drop in 4 hoursSpookie it's ugly and raining here for two days UGH! Rose is in Florida too. Not sure where.
Littlegoats----Goats luv leaves? So, you don't have to rake? Great advice to Becky. I never found BCO till way after I needed it. So, wish I knew about Whippetmom(Deborah). I was registered, but didn't have a clue about what she could do. MY PS was a SHIT. I didn't know any better. LMG do me a favor and click on the links for newbies and tell me if there's anything that perhaps is too much for a newbie. The one I worry about is MA111's death and dying thread. Bon did a synopsis on page 25 and 26 of what to have prepared. It's a list of things that everyone should have prepared, I believe from the time of 18. But I'm a "Be Prepared" believer. DS couldn't even go to University until I had guardianship papers, Living Will, Healthcare Power of Attorney, Durable Power of Attorney, Will. He, also, had to have immunizations that he believed weren't necessary i.e meningococcal meningitis(MM)Then a week or so after he had it, a letter came from FSU saying they recommended it. If he chose not to get it, he and we, would have to sign a waiver. MM most common in college group settings. I got to do another 'I told you so'.
Allot of those threads are inactive. I like allot of them b/c they cover body issues i.e Facial care, constipation. I used to do a bumping and watch thing on many of them, but not so much since the banning. I lost heart for it, plus time. I don't bump if I can't watch to see if someone needs something. It's kind of a chicken egg thing. Don't want to leave them hanging with no response. I call them my housekeeping threads. I know a bit bizarre.
Rose where do you live?
Badger, glad you like 8.1 too. You are so techy. I had my Tech Buddy set it up. I pay for computer support. I called them up and had them do the whole thing. Hope all your trips are fruitful. Do you have any Lymph issues? Do you wear a compression sleeve when you fly?
Cami, I'm so happy you are posting more. I was just thinking about getting more aggressive about seeing how you are doing, Precious.................Yeah, I have numbers problem too. One thing in nursing is, all facilities require we repeat whatever info we have be given ---it's referred to as a READ BACK. Sounds like, if I'm given a number 927394619, we would say- reading back 927394691. Last two are wrong. That's when we would catch the wrong numbers. There was a time if you did that with a doc , some would scream and yell. BUT then Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation -JACHO made Read Back a rule. Docs had to wait for the read back. If they yelled this was a BIG advancement in my hospital. We were encouraged to report Doc abuse. If they yelled at us they were sent to anger management class. Two were fired b/c they didn't get it. One was in constant trouble b/c he didn't get it, but stayed enough inside the line to not get fired. One was so cute when he would say to someone "I working hard on my anger, let me try again". Just hoping you are feeling better. Which I think you must be cuz you are posting a bit more L&H&P's sweetie, miss you lots when you aren't here. Your humor and insights are a perfect Yin to Chevy's Yang.

Chevy you made an enhanced pic of your house by adding falling snow CHIT(our word for shit for the newbies coined by Cami). bYou have just given me a new idea for a thread. I'm pretty good at thread ideas, since mine have been viewed probably over 300,00 times. COOL0 -
I DO TOO KNOW WHAT SNOW LOOKS/FEELS LIKE.
I grew up in Cincinnati. Maybe you've heard of the Reds, or Bengals? Snow is one of the MAIN reasons I moved. I hate that chit. Sas grew up farther north than me. She knows about snow too.
Sas, Rose was in St A, I think she went home

OKAY Chevy you are front and center on a new thread LOL........You are so goodhttps://community.breastcancer.org/forum/26/topic/826154?page=1#post_4214117

Today was breezy and Cold maybe 62? I got out to Talbots state park at the dunes and the skies were so dark and threatening, winds blowing, the skies spritzing. I figured any bird watching was history. It was lovely with the white caps and dark sky and light sand. I guess the storm down here is giving everyone else in the country a whopper of cold snap. Have to say the marshes here are gorgeous. (Northern Florida)
Had to find a nice thick blanket last night and couldn't sleep for beans - up until 3 Am!! Blurry eyed this morning 3 cups of java and still stumbling and incoherent. pathetic. Got wrapped up in this stupid book fascinating, surprised I could focus on the print at that hour. So I feel for you all who are stranded sleepless in Seattle... or Sacramento or Detroit or NY... it's having no estrogen!
Poor Becky - I feel your misery. Vent and vent some more. Take someone with you to your appointments. Write things down and take them with you so you don't forget. If you don't want a mastectomy, don't get one. Research everything first before you sign up. I wish that I had never done chemo it hurt me far more then it helped me - hind sight is always 20/20 but that isn't everyone's story - weigh your options. There is no hurry! You really can take your time get a second or third opinion and mull over what to do. don't rush. Breast cancer is not like a brush fire where seconds count and you can poof go up in smoke - you have time to carefully consider treatment options. Ask folks on the the threads (once you get your path report) what options you are given and benefits and risks for the different paths. The gals will share their observations and you can learn so much by listening and seeing what is done around the country. Ask for some anti anxiety meds to help you sleep if you are open to that. The first couple months so suck - I'm sorry. Hang in there!
I love your posts Chevy - make me laugh. The snow thing is terrific.
Hope you are warm and resting comfortably Blondie! Night everyone - well for now. I might be back..

Spookie....is that a dryer vent below your thermometer? Are you cheating?
0 -
I have a CT scan of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis in the am. I have been talking myself down. I think this is overkill and they won't see anything that wasn't seen on previous scans. However, I have this irrational fear that if I'm not worried it's has to be bad. I'm getting stressed out.
0 -
Hugs Sharon. I get into magical thinking too. At least it will happen soon and be over with tomorrow. Here's hoping all they see are your boring insides.
0 -
nope, not cheating!

Spookie- How can that be? Just 2-3 hours and that big of a difference? I bet we didn't get above 65 in Jacksonville. Blustery and off and on showers. Leave wednesday..booo hoo. I have so enjoyed this visit.

We had a bit of rain Sat nite. Not much.yesterday and today were just about perfect. And it's more than 2-3 hours. Sas said its been raining on her too.
Did you make it to the Space Center? That's a really neat place, not all that far from you
0 -
0 -
No - no space center. I am just going to need to come back. I really wanted to see Okefenokee Swamp and take a birding tour but I didn't read the fine print closed Sun and Mon off season... ack. Hope I get a next time. I have heard those slow motor boat tours are very cool.. I just love all the historical stories and information. All new to me and very interesting. Goodnight owls!

Hope everyone is doing well and trying to be good to themselves,
It is going to be very cold here tonight in Washington, extra blankets.
Please take care Footprintsangel

Rose…I am a Georgia native but I have never been to the Okefenokee Park. I do not like gators. What part of Oregon are you from? My DH and I have a home on the Central Oregon Coast, Yachats. Are you near there?
Hope I get to sleep better tonight. It is always a challenge. What cocktail of meds will I try tonight? Usually just benadryl
Nitey nite
