Did my four miles on the treadmill this morning. Monday thru Friday is my schedule. I feel great afterwards, but it was really hard for me today.0 -
At home drinking my bone broth and eating some kale salad, all while starting my Christmas cookie baking. I will give them to DH to taste as I have sworn off sugar, except for what is in alcohol.

Ah yes, exercise...well the only thing that changed was no golf as it was raining, cold and windy yesterday. If it's Monday night, it must be TRX. Oh, I might as well be in my own movie of "Groundhog Day" as yes, Tuesday morning it was PIYO and Wednesday morning I'll be reporting that I went to 6 AM spin class etc. etc. etc.

Made it to the gym....45 min on treadmill.

Ruth: Hope you didn't have any trouble flying. Miss you already!
Jillian: Glad you continued on the treadmill to get the end and experienced that happy feeling that you did it!
Fast walked/ran at the park this afternoon. Going again tomorrow.

Hello All! I made it home in one piece. I got in a little jogging in at the Minneapolis airport; our second flight started loading 10 minutes after the first one landed (on the other side of the airport, of course). A long day, looking forward to sleeping in my own bed.
Wonderland, come west!

Here are a couple pictures of the woods right by my sister's house where we walked every day.

Great job on the holiday runs Natsfan and Cheryl. Unfortunately I was unable to join you this time but would like a raincheck for next year. My exercise over the past few days has been lots of walking. Have a busy week ahead but will continue my exercise daily.
Good night all.

Today's workout was walking and jogging up several flights of stairs and doing lunges up. Thankfully, tomorrow will be something different

I did 45 minutes in the gym tonight. Some on the treadmill and some on an Arc Trainer. Still getting the hang of that one...

Thanks so much Mary & HeidiHill. No yin yoga out here yet someday may venture into London and take a class. This inquiring yoga bunny would like to try it. I'm going to do some baking this afternoon for pink pilates women on Thursday.
Freestyle step and body balance this morning at the gym.

LB - if I get a yin DVD I'll let you know how it is. If it's a decent one, maybe you could at least try that to see if it's something you'd like. Anyone have a good recommendation for a yin yoga DVD??
PT session yesterday morning. Teacher - the PT has me doing lunges too - they're quite effective, aren't they??

Ruth - beautiful pictures - I'd have spent the whole trip walking and hiking too.
Some bad news here - DH's father was rushed to the hospital last week with what proved to be a heart attack. While there, tests showed a lot of problems, including leaky valves and a blood clot in the lungs. He's in his late 80's so it's not unexpected, but still devastating news. He's at a care facility now and seems to be showing a bit of improvement, but it looks like we'll be making a trip out there (Southern California) in the near future to see him. DH has three sibs who live near their parents, and they're doing a great job of doing all the leg work on this. We're very appreciative of that.
It was a dark and rainy night last night, so I retreated to the dreadmill for the first time this season for my Tuesday run - 45 minutes. I used to always set the dreadmill for the basic level run because I hated hills, but thanks to the running clinic I have learned how to deal with hills. So last night for the first time I put the dreadmill on the "hill" program and really pushed it. I feel like a got a lot more out of it by tackling a challenging program.

Mary, so sorry to hear about your father-in-law. So hard, especially when you are so far away.
Walked with my Wednesday Women this morning (inside), will do Zumba and try out a new yoga class tonight. I need to make restitution for my Week of Eating Dangerously!!!

Mary, prayers going up for your FIL and the family as he goes through treatments.
45 mins on treadmill.
Night sculpted friends.

Sending prayers for your family and father in-law, Mary.
Hit the treadmill today for a two mile run after work. Heading to bed early as I am still trying to catch up from the other night when a hot flash woke me at 3 a.m. and I was unable to get back to sleep.
Sweet dreams all.
Edited to fix typos

Mary - so sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Take care!
Got back to my stretching/toning and treadmill after missing two days!

Mary- I am sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope each day finds him feeling a little stronger.
I went back to the gym tonight. Did some treadmill and elliptical. I am really struggling with jogging on the treadmill. Up till now, I have always run outside. I liked putting on music and the time flew. It feels so much more labored and much harder on the treadmill.

Off for a walk in a few. But have wonderful news about my friend with what has turned out to be a rare form of kidney cancer. After she was practically turned away (and effectively left to die) by a regional hospital, I was able to connect her with one of the top specialists in the country (in Boston). This because of my work with the brain tumor nonprofit...we asked out network and they came through!!!!
So she will now get treatment and will most likely be enrolled in a clinical trial which will offer her the best chance. Still an uphill battle, but at least she is finally in the right hands. So fortunate, as this is the ONLY clinical trial for her type of cancer, and she is with the best.
I am beyond thankful. - Claire
p.s. I also made headway on some of the other things that were getting me unglued, so all is much better there too. Best of all, hunting season is over soon, and I have a date with my guy for next Thursday!!!

Clare, that is good news for your friend. Glad that she is in the best hands now.0 -
Great news for your friend Claire; good that you could help her. Mary, hope FIL stays stable through the holidays and thanks for thinking yin for me. Ginger, ditto on treadmill running vs. outdoor, plus I think indoor is harder on my knees. Well, I baked vegan russian tea cakes and walnut balls yesterday and the vegan cookies came out best (neither are lookers in the christmas cookie department). Wrapped up little cookie gift parcels for the pink pilates ladies to hand out at our coffee and cake meet-up after class this morning.
Off to body balance, pink pilates and only one yoga (hatha) class and not iyengar due to pink party - 3 mat day!

Claire - great news on your friend. I have a couple of co-workers who are alive now only because they got into clinical trials at NIH. Wishing your friend similar results.
Ginger and LB - sounds like we're all in agreement about the dreadmill. Three miles outside flies by, while 3 miles on a dreadmill feels like 6.

LB - your treats sound yummy!
Thank you for all the prayers and good thoughts for my FIL - the care facility he's in is excellent, and he's not only stabilized, but showing a small bit of improvement. He's eating better and they're getting him up and moving. It's still touch and go, but at least the downward spiral has been arrested for now. And now that he's in residential care for now, my MIL is getting a break - trying to take care of him has been draining on her as well. She's more relaxed and sleeping so much better now that she's not up checking and worried about him all night.
Another PT session this morning - the exercises are progressing and wow - it can get intense. But I do feel that it's doing a lot of good - I hadn't realized how much my body had been compensating for the shortened tendon from my tendon repair surgery 8 years ago and how unbalanced the muscles and joints had become over the years. I'm really glad now that I had it checked out.

Walked down to Dunkin Donuts this morning for my breakfast and a little snow clean up

Mary: Good news about your FIL. Prayers are being lifted for him. Also, glad to know that PT is working.
Claire: What you have done for your friend is outstanding!
Ginger, LB, and Mary: Totally agree about the treadmill. Just isn't the same as outside.
Fast walked/ran late this afternoon. Crisp and clear.

So glad that things are settling down with your FIL, Mary.
Claire, what a wonderful blessing you have been for your friend.
I subbed today & then went out for coffee with a friend who is nervously awaiting major oral surgery tomorrow (she has dealt with teeth issues for years and is getting her remaining teeth, her partials, everything removed and getting implants...all in one surgery....well, several procedures but all in one operation. OMG, I almost fainted as she was describing it!!!). I am tired from the trip and, at this moment, am sitting in the recliner....I will soon sign off, do some situps, and go to bed!

Omg,, Ruth,,, I can't imagine that surgery. I had ONE implant done,, and that was no fun at all.0 -
I really enjoy reading all of the posts here. Everyone keeps each other on track, and it's so fun to read about all the varieties of exercise.
On Good Morning America the other day, they said 45 minutes of shoveling snow is 300 calories! I thought about many of you who clock in here with that activity. And, vacuuming for 1 hour is 450 calories. I thought about myself on that one, as I vacuum very often and our vacuum has super duper strong suction which requires a lot of strength to push and pull. So all types of activity really does count and add up.
Updating: Tues: 8 miles, Wed: 8 miles, Thurs: 7 miles (same amount of time, but gym was so hot and stuffy I just couldn't get it done any faster. It had to have been about 90 degrees in there.
To our California friends, how are you holding up with the Pineapple Express? Did you get a lot of rain and are you not reading this, due to a power outage?
Ladies, what happened to: Multi-striped pumpkin pie. (Forgot how we were doing it - was it clothing and last food item eaten?) LOL

1 hour in pool doing aerobics and weights.

Claire, you are such a good friend and what you did for your friend was wonderful.
Welcome home Ruth. Hope you can rest up from the trip some. Mary, glad your FIL is doing better. Wishing you great success with PT.
Went to bootcamp tonight where we completed several circuits including powerjacks, butterfly sit-ups, push-ups, med ball slams, ab twists and mountain climbers. Rounded out the hour with two tabatia workouts and some stretching. Now ready for bedtime (insert sleepy smiley face here)
Happy Friday ladies!

Exercise today was walking around multiple stores at a fast pace trying to pull together all the clothes my daughter needs for her Show Choir performances tomorrow and Saturday!

I haven't checked in for awhile, but I've been in the pool every day for the past week or so. My typical workout is 30 minutes of swimming and water weights. I plan to up it as I get stronger. Swimming is something that once I start again after a break...I wonder how I ever went without.
When I lack motivation to get in the pool on a chilly day, "I just think to myself...would I skip going to the doctor and getting treatment?" I'm going to make myself think of daily exercise as my ongoing treatment.

Freestyle step and body balance much too warm studio as air con is still not working.

Bad - I like that mantra about making exercise equivalent to getting medical treatment, because it really is. Good reminder. My onc prescribed 30 minutes of exercise a day for me - she said it was some of the most effective medicine she could prescribe in preventing recurrence.
45 minutes on the dreadmill last night.
