Just caught something in Roses post. Has anybody ever been involved with the Red Hat Ladies? I did, but it wasn't a good match. Anybody?
Blondie, we could have matched purple casts!!!!
0 -
It's because of that purple cast Spookie! Spray paint it red, and try it again..... Who are the red hat ladies?
You mean THESE "ladies" Spooks?

No, they look rather morally lacking.... I mean not even EYE would go out like that.... Cammi MAYbe.... but not me...
This one reminds me of you, me and Sass!

0 -
yes, spookie, I did Red Hats. Twice, two different groups, several years apart. Just didn't work out.
That cast is from some time ago, right?
Waiting for DS to come visit and have dinner. Making turkey. The other kids are coming too. So about 15 people for his birthday and Bon voyage. His last visit for 6 months. He leaves for Aussie at end of month. Sure going to miss him. We'll talk by facetime but that doesn't alway work well.
Hi to all. It raining here! Hallelujah! Suppose to continue for the week, off and on. Take care, got to go clean house
0 -
yeah, the cast was in Nov. Glad I'm not the only one didn't work out with the Red Hatters!
Oh CHEVY, that was so much fun! You coming back this year?
0 -
Who is that in the picture at the bottom? Inquiring minds want to know.....
0 -
Me in the black shirt? CHEVY in the red shirt, Sas in the blue shirt.
At the Columbia in Celebration Fl last fall
0 -
You are all so cute.
And now I will have a good visual for Chevy too when she talks about her work on the pole......

Just finished a hot bowl of chili fresh from the Crock-Pot! Got enough left to cook up some pasta and add it in for another meal!
0 -
momof2- Sounds good! I love chili after it has simmered in a crockpot for a day! We regularly make vegan chili that is so yummy. If I have left overs, but not enough chili for the whole family, I put chili over 1/2 yukkon gold potatoe with cheese. Have a spinach side salad with mandarin oranges and almond slivers + vinegarette dressing.. perfect. Great meal, good for you and cheap. I am lucky all my kids LOVE spinach, and will eat it in salads, eggs ,quiche and stuffed in sandwiches.
Glad those in California are getting rain... we are drenched. Poor Washington is just flooded. I wish the weather was colder because our snow pack is low and despite all this rain we are lower then normal. We need the snow pack for drinking water and rivers/ salmon. We need more snow in the mountains... desperately. Of course watching the news.. I guess it beats the East Coast weather.
I want to try this Columbia restaurant! Sounds like fun.

Rose, we were at the one in Celebration, near Orlando. CHEVY DD lives close. You, Sas and I were going to meet at the original one, since 1905, in Tampa. The food was great, company a ton of fun

hello, so wish Chevy could chop shop that pic. That's me with the Fifty pounds from the stupid faulty thyroid. I looked pretty decent t fifty pounds less. CHEVY PLEASE CHOP SHOP ME BELOW THE EYES . SOrry about the caps. Kindle.
But Spookie' s right we had a great visit. Laughed almost the entire time

Chevy try and come here for an overnight. Spookie can come. It' d be a great time.
At Wal-Mart to day . I absent mindly asked Dbf in a very loud voice " Did you find your nuts". Started laughing, crossed legs for several minutes. Need to work on kegels.

Blondie - love the purple hair. I see you are wearing your nasal cannula the correct way... my last RT read me the riot act because I cut the prongs short (o.k. to do with my "petite" nose) then loop the tubes over my ears and pull them behind my head and tighten them like a pony tail. He said I ran the risk of strangling myself if I wore it that way, and I told him that was the only way I could sleep. I guess I have too many chins to make it comfortable to wear in the front.
Chevy - you never cease to amaze me.
Miss Sassypants - great summary for JWoo...
JWoo - so sorry you are going through this. Yeah, I've been there, done that many times, but not after a suicide, which adds a whole new level of stress to the process. I totally recommend Estate Sales, as the company will come in and look at the house (crap and all) and give you an estimate of what they think they can sell, and what percentage they will take. It was TOTALLY worth it every time we used them. A dish I would have put 50 cents on at a yard sale, she put a $10 price tag on, and GOT IT! Once everything was sold, they did another inventory, and took everything donatable to a charity and gave us a receipt. Then they hauled off the trash to the dump. All we had to do before selling each house was to have a cleaning crew come in for the inside finishing touches. One word of caution: It's a nice thought to let all the relatives come in and take what they want. But in FILs case, their wills stipulated that nothing was to leave the house until both parents were gone. AND - even though some things were "promised" to certain people, those collections had value, and Dad wrote in the will that each item was to be appraised, and that amount be deducted from that person's share of the estate.
For that very reason (also because we don't know how many spare keys Dad has given out to neighbors, etc) when his time comes, we will be changing the locks on all the doors immediately after his passing. DH is Executor and Trustee, and we have both been in positions where the vultures begin to descend right away. Won't happen in this case. Again, condolences.
Rosevalley - we're getting SOME rain in California, but not nearly as much as we need. Wish other states could just build a big ol' pipeline and divert some of their flooding our way.

Just popped in for a minute... had a few remarks I remembered long enough to post.
Still trying to get this oxygen saturation stuff figured out. I now have a PORTABLE oxygen concentrator to take on trips, instead of Big Bertha (that big beige model you see in nursing homes). She sounds like an idling Greyhound bus, and frequently makes a loud HISSSSSS as she passes gas. (Vents off nitrogen from ambient room air.)
We've determined that my lung function is perfectly normal, and that I don't need to get an ABG (arterial blood gas) test done. (I'm such a weenie.)
(We've also determined that the APAP is not helping me, and in fact may be hurting me as it makes me hyperventilate during the night. The O2 bleed seems to be too diffused when using a full face mask on the APAP, and because of other reasons, that's the only mask I can use.)
Instead, my brain no longer tells my body to breathe when I'm sleeping, so my O2 sats go down to 79% - SEVERE HYPOXIA - at night. I am on oxygen all night long every night.
The cause seems to be my TBI from last summer. It damaged the part of my brain that tells me to breathe. It also left me unable to process new information. That's a bummer - if the subject matter is boring, or if the person speaks too quickly, they may as well be speaking Russian. Oh well, I guess I won't have to be on Jury Duty any more....
My medical knowledge, however, is part of my long-term memory, and since Christmas I have been doing medical management for both my sister and my FIL, who both broke their hips and had replacements. At 93, Dad's a rock star.... back at home alone, getting by with a caregiver a few hours a day for showering help and running errands.
At 77, Sis.. not so well. Not eager to do any type of therapy (never has since her strokes years ago) and my fear is that she will never return home again. LOTS of drama there.... fortunately, I do the medical side and stay out of the rest of it. She has adult children - this is for THEM to figure out.
But all of this has taken a toll on my poor bonked brain. Haven't spent time on BCO or any other forum, really... got to the point where I was in burnout, and that was scary. Brain didn't work at all. Now I know better.
Just know I think of y'all.... and send L&H&Ps to everyone!
xoxoxoxo

Blessings, I have a friend with an oxygen concentrator and it does not sound like a bus. It might hiss a little bit, but not a lot. Perhaps yours should be looked at to see why it's so noisy. Those TBI are really scary. We know someone here who had one and her brain doesn't regulate her temperature. Her DH has hauled her into the ER with hypothermia more than once.
Just know we're thinking of you and sending healing thoughts. Hugs.

Thank you, Wren! This is actually my THIRD oxygen concentrator I've had delivered to the house. The first two had been in smoker's homes and reeked of cigarette smoke... not good for someone with a nicotine allergy and asthma!
The third Big Bertha (as opposed to my portable unit) is much quieter than the first two. According to the delivery guy - who is also the technician - the older they get the louder they get. I am the first user of this one! But she still has a low rumble and a loud hiss.
Is your friend on pulse dose or continuous dose? I'm on continuous, which of course is louder than pulse. And my tiny little portable unit that was supposed to be so quiet? Sounds just like DH snoring!!!!! Really aggravating, but at least I'm used to it

How scary for your friend who can't regulate her body temperature! That can be deadly - especially this time of the year, or in summer in very hot climates...
Thank you for the good wishes. I'll figure it all out one of these days.
xoxo

Ugh, more snow! Getting sick of it now!
Output from drains keep dropping. If it stays below the benchmark through tommorrow morning, I'll make the all important call to the PS.

Yes, it WAS fun Spookie! Did you see what Sass wanted me to do? She said something about me cropping off everything but 1/2 her FACE????
But as short as I am, there would be just HAIR left.... My hair is not that big lately.... just thought I would add that...
Also, if you notice THEY have on their ("go to shoe of the season") Which must make them of average height.....
ME on the other hand have on my official 2" suede crocks, (because they match my top) and therefore if I didn't have them on, I would come up to about their knees.
So we are ALL a little on the "fluffy" side, more like we would be normal, if we were about 6 feet tall.... just sayin'
Sass! CHOP SHOP? You been hangin' around those garages that actually DO chop cars? What neighborhood do you LIVE in?
And OH??? Is that a heavy duty some kind of parka off Sass's arm? With flip-flops?
Let me tell you.... those women who live in Florida, nearly always expect a "chill" when walking into air-conditioning... so they must carry some sort of wrap/shrug/parka with them at all times, otherwise they will be afeard of catching a sniffle.
It looks like a big coat...... One with large pockets... (you can see them) probably for taking home silverware......
I remember my DD in Orlando told me that when they were in college, they didn't have any forks, so the girls all had to take home forks when they ate out... No... I didn't raise her that way.... Ha!
What did you gals do in Red Hats? Smarty and Spookie? Is that some sort of secret society? And all you do all day is smoke pot and drink? And wear lots of purple with red hats?
Do the authorities know about you two? We must best keep this hush-hush. I mean me and CAMMI don't do this sort of stuff.... Not out in the open anyway........
Ah geez Smarty.... 15 people???? At once???? That's hardly almost more than I can fathom. We did 19 people at one time... and it about did me in. I know you will miss your Son....
Spooks I don't know if we are coming back this year.... DH is always complaining about how he hurts all over... How his stomach is a mess, and his arms and knees hurt... And he thinks he surely will fall apart in pieces if another day comes by.
Doctors and a check-up are not in his vocabulary... Nope... Not unless one of those parts fall off.... completely. He.... we're only 77, but he somehow sneaked up to be 100. And he ain't enjoying it....
So when I ask him, "Does your arm/knee/stomach (YOU pick it) feel better?" He just says in his tiny voice, "well, a little, but my stomach is just not right, and my left ankle, and my right knee is just not right, and my back is still sore"... and as I doze off, he is still talking.
I'm sorry, but when I blatantly suggest something to FIX THE DAMN THING I am met with resistance.... But blah blah.... We are good.... I am used to it... and we are lucky we have each other.... honest!
Rosie... Try this one... Chopped fresh Broccoli, dried cranberries, chopped nuts, diced onions, fresh pineapple pieces, a diced Apple, and mix it all together.... It will stay in your fridge for MONTHS... or maybe a week... Then put a little of your favorite (ranch) dressing on it....
I even put fresh sprouts on it!
OH? I'll bet I didn't mention my Sprouter I bought!!! AND fresh seeds to sprout.... So I DID, and they are SO tasty!
This was DD's idea... Only she failed miserably... She sent a picture of these "sprouts" she grew.... (this health kick she is on) and sure enough.... SPROUTS.... only they had gone beYOND the stage of "sprouts" and were understandably PLANTS!
I emailed and told her in the first place they are SPROUTS.... not "SPROURS' which she mistakenly wrote.... and boy did I have fun telling her about THAT one! How she should take up drinking Aloe Vera instead of farming whole plants in her "sprourer".... I told her she was NOT supposed to grow bean-stalks IN the house...
Then I said... Oh well... have fun Jack!
Okay Sass.... Even EYE know what kegels are.... Ask Cammi that one... she will not have ANY idea ... But she knows the rest...
Do you guys watch the Carbanarro Effect? This is the BEST show on TV... This Mike Carbonarro guy is a magician, and he does these "skits" with unsuspecting people... from stores, gyms... etc.
So this ONE time, these 2 gals are in front of his stand in the store, and he is showing them how this "De-nutter" works.... How you put chocolate covered nuts in this "salad spinner" thing, and when it is done spinning, he opens it and you see the chocolate "nuts" only he cuts the chocolate open, and it is HOLLOW! The nuts have fallen through the strainer part and are all THERE! It is soooooo funny, the looks on those gals faces! They can't beLIEVE that the "de-nutter" DID that!
So in walks this cute little cocker spaniel puppy.... and they are bending down to talk to him.... And Mike says his name is Peanut.... And then he says... he's been "de-nuttered"...... I just crack up! And the one gal almost falls on the floor laughing! You gotta watch this show!
So Sass what was this about your DDDDDDABBBBBBBBBF?? Did YOU fine them? Hah!
Blessings.... yes, good advice for JWOW.... My Mom and Dad's stuff was so old, but their neighbors really helped us out with that one.... Even when finished, one guy took all that no-body wanted, and loaded it up and took it to be donated... THAT'S what friends are for....
Man, your whole family has problems! Sorry about that... Your brain sounds like it has recovered quite a bit? I mean they can do it.... And eat healthy.... I'm at the point in my life, where I think my brain can hold on, but my body is giving up the ship!
I gotta get that exercise bike put together, so I can pedal my a$ off, and get more flexible.... my job calls for that...

Geeeze!!!! We need to cut her coffee in half!!!
Ok, so leave the grumpy, falling apart old guy home! Sounds like Eyeore. This or that hurts, blah blah. Why not call doc? Oh, I don't want to bother him. Then SHUT UP already!!! If it's broke, FIX it. So you can get on a plane and see DD and the grands without him.
Red Hatters. I was still working they were not. They had grand kids, I didnt. More free $$$ than me for dinners and trips, etc. just wasn't a good fit. Now that maybe I could, I don't want to fool with it. I'm happy in my own little world.

Mama Nature is still off her meds this morning! Getting more of that white crap! Wish she would get on her meds and stop sending this crap my way. All I wanted was maybe a couple of good storms, but its starting to get ridiculous with having at least one or more storms a week.

OMD, Chevy, I love the Carbonaro Effect! It's hilarious! Except, I hate how gullible people are, and he's such a good liar, leg-puller, whatever, I would not believe him if he told me something that was obviously true. But we watch it all the time.
Ugh, my 2-day vacation is over, it's back to Dr. P's House of Pain in a couple of hours.

god I don't know what I'd do without you guys, first thing in the morning!!
Make me laugh!Chevy, were you always this crazy? Spookie, same here on the RHS. Didn't really know any of them. Wasn't my thing.
Well it rained, it stopped. Helped very little but better than nothing. Hopefully now that the storm door is open we'll get more. Dinner went great. DS had a good time and everybody got to talk with him. He doesn't have his ticket yet but leaving soon. He's got a job he's trying to finish up before he leaves. His GF has found a place outside Sydney so she'll have it all ready when he gets there. She was shopping for a car yesterday. Don't know if she got it. Then they'll look for a work truck for him. They drive on the other side of the road over there. Can't wait to visit them next year.
Blessings, glad to see you here. Hope things keep getting better.

I love the good laugh I get from your banter... back and forth like a volleyball match! What a hoot. Thanks for making me laugh; I needed it! Chevy I will try the the chopped salad sounds yummy. I'm fluffy and need to eat more rabbit food.. well minus hay. :-) Sas-had to laugh about loudly asking your friend about the whereabouts of his nuts! Oops... I would have folded. Blessings hang in there.. Momof2 - Mother nature needs to turn off the snow machine for you poor folks. We have been getting her endless showers which I want to send to Texas and CA! Enough we are drenched and water logged! They can have the water!! Stay warm and dry ya'll.
Spookie I loved the hibiscus flower. I torture myself by scanning properties in Jacksonville... I found one where the garden is just fabulous, 1/2 acre... the house a tiny 1955 dump. Who cares about the house, stay outdoors- the trees and landscaping are just really lovely. I love a garden. Wish I had the health to do it. It's silly I know.. I live on the other side of the entire continent... goofy. But you can't go outside here --- you'll drown!

Smarrty sounds wonderful. Love visits. Why is Ds going to Australia? ChrissyB is there, but not sure where in relationship to Sydney. So is Alyson--well Auckland, but she flies to Australia I think at least once a year b/c of family. They have BCO sisters there that meet. Check out clarkhoward.com. for airline info. He describes how to get the cheapest tickets to Australia. Barely, remember what he said, but it falls into---if you fly out of a particular city in California you can get the best rates. Likely DS knows this already, but just incase.Clark Howard is on talk radio. He's been there 25 plus years. His moniker is the consumer warrior. He teaches about everything.
Spookie------so funny about the Hibiscus. My thought looking at the flower was-Chevy's not going to be happy hahahahah.
Chevy I didn't actually pee myself in Walmart, but it was work not too. DBF did find his nuts

Cami that thing I did the other day on the Constipation thread, I used. Dr. House as an example. I know you love watching him. There's about five post in a row.
Mags, saw Carbonaro for the first time Saturday. Funny. Even funnier is what he gets people to believe. How long has he been on?
Blessings, I was thinking about you and there you appear. I'm going to transfer your synopsis of how to clear out a house to Just Diagnosed thread. Nicely done
Re: your breathing There are pacemakers for diaphragms now. I was going to fetch an article, but there's so much google info that has exploded over the last few years, I figured it may be just easier to talk to your doc or google yourself. HUGSTang yoohoo thinking of you? Jwoo, 2Ta...............
Patty, good luck with you pain doc today. Thought about you obsessively all weekend

Getting the funniest sensations around the drain sutures, it feels like someone is tickling me around there and its driving me batty!
0 -
Mommy, It's healing Yay. Basically, it's a signal that it's time for them to come out or if they are dissolvable sutures you just have to put up with it until they are dissolved. Yes, it's like a nightmare itch/tickle you can't get too.

Ok ladies, all this talk of blooming flowers, gardens, and rain is making my cabin fever worse! Lol Our high today is 24 degrees, and the low 13 degrees. And snow, and snow, and snow............I look out over the Lake and all I can see is ice! Spring can show up any day, I am ready to go walk the beach and treasure hunt!
But instead I am trying to get my feet sandal ready and my dang toenail fell off. Chemo gotta love it. Grrr....

Beachie, I was in Akron for 21 years and Cleveland from 72-74. I graduated from Fairview General School of Nursing. Left Ohio in 1992. Still miss the season changes, but not the snow. While in Akron, I trained paramedics and Emt's. The Fire Chief from Avon Lake was a good friend and the Co-ordinator at Lorain Community College. One of my grads was a lieutenant on the Bay Village FD last I knew. Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't end up a fire chief. Lots of them did. Lost track of them all now for > 20 years---time flies. Loved your description of the whole region. Lake Erie---nice it came back to life
Do you catch any Walleye?0
