BLONDIE! Report those B-tards! Damn! I remember one time I couldn't find the patch-work quilt I had made for my Grandma's bed! So I marched down to the Laundry, talked to them, then found it on another ladies bed! Don't know how it got there, but I got it back!

After that I used permanent marker on ALL her things, and made it known, that I would be watching all her "stuff!"

Can you "hide" your stuff??? I mean like inside your socks or underwear in your drawers? Or get a box, punch some holes in it, and write My Pet Snake on it.... See if things get taken from THERE! Put a little bowl of water, and a rock or little box, or something, for the "snake" to hide under!

Mags! I KNOW! He pulls it all off with such a straight face! That's what cracks me up! The people have to be told, after the skit is over....

One time a Hidden Camera was out at Coors.... And they set the camera up inside a little window on this door. So when we finished the tour, and brought the people down the stairs to the lounge, they had a portable tap set up, and LEFT IT RUNNING! BEER ALL OVER THE PLACE!

And since I am such a straight-laced professional, I just said.... "Oh look at that! I'll go get some help.... You guys just feel free to help yourselves!" Hah! But then I got some "help" and they shut it off, and called me in another room, and Candid Camera was there, and told me what they were up to, and if they USED that segment, they would let me know when it was on.... I had to be pretty quiet after that, for when the next few groups came down the stairs!

Hey Blondie, That sucks. Do what Chevy said. Maybe you could get one of those spring loaded snakes. Shame on them. Does remindme of the operating department. We had this guy that routinely just took other peoples lunches. One gal made a peanut butter and dog poop sandwich. What a riot. People were gathered in the lounge and were clued in as we each came in. He was in the locker room. We never actually saw him during or right after..........but he never took another lunch.

Hey owlies, this thread was written by a BCO gal who's father's records were mixed up with someone elses FYI you're so not going to believe it.

Blondie- my mom had that happen all the time. Even her roommate in one place demanded she share things we brought her, including some socks we brought for her. People used to go in her room and take things in her drawer at another place, especially lipstick. The gal who was her helper got a bag and would bring it in when she wanted it. It is terrible this stuff happens.

Maybe one of your kids can talk to the nursing station next time they visit. If I lived closer, I would go give em hell.

Mommy- itching is a good sign, definately one of healing. I still get itching in my boobs a couple years later after treatment, which they say is the nerves continuing to regenerate after the surgery and internal rads. It does feel weird when it happens. I hope those drains are out soon.

Don't shoot me, but it's 72 degrees here today. We are at the exact opposite of what is going on on the east coast; February heat wave!

Sassy-wow I read that post about Amy's Dad.. crazy to mix up films like that. I hope that happens to me Wednesday...they can do xrays and say mets what mets? Your femur is perfect. They showed you the wrong PETscan!! No problem... it would be like hitting power ball. I would be thrilled to have them say, just kidding it's arthritis!!! Maybe I should buy a Power ball ticket.. might have a better chance.

I think that's why medical offices started taking people's photos for the chart and checking and rechecking operative sides. I remember 19 years ago being asked by a NP how the BP med was working? It was a prenatal check up.. I muttered what? Turned out someone charted in my chart about a med I didn't take. lovely.

Jazzy- oh shush on the 72 degrees and sunny. It's been raining here for 5 days, all weekend and ALL DAY TODAY!! My dogs just stare at me... mope and sigh... I know Florida has bugs and hideous humid summers... but it is sunny most of the time.. It rains here for 7 months. My Phillip's Blue light doesn't begin to cut it. Sad

Hi to everyone else. Hope all is well

Rosie for you that would be wonderful. But the stories on AMY's thread are scary as (&^&*()). Littlegoats will get this story too. I was to give blood. Bedside check done>>>to the blood bank>>> Checking identifiers with MT. An identifier was off. Made me sit straight up. We rechecked all identifiers. Same one off. Forget which one sorry, kind of messes with the story. MT said no problem it's okay. I said something like no way, somethings wrong. I said lets play devils advocate and check and see if someone's in the system with the same name. There was AND she was in the hospital. I said I wanted to speak to a boss. The head of BB was there after hours.  We went through the whole scenario. The end result is they redrew and redid the type and crossmatch. I know it was taken up hospital channels and a systems thing was changed. Again it messes with the story b/c I can't remember what. I do know you get the danger.

Another story I got a call from a bill collector trying to locate a __________DS's name. I played the phone call until I learned that it was a fella with the same first and last name as my son, same birthdate, Ds's year was 1984--the other guy was 1981, living in Orlando Florida--also got his address. This guy was a deadbeat off the charts. Hrmph, probably a jail record too. Anyways the bill collector blithely gave me all this info that broke all kinds of privacy rules. Like I said I played him. But I figured with each breach, I had to get more info to protect DS. Hadn't thought about this in years. Told son then to make sure to watch his records AND if he ever got stopped by the cops to tell them about the other guy etc.

same type story. We we applied for a mortgage for first house, I got a call from the bank trying to rip me a new one. They said they showed we owned all kinds of ither properties! Huh? Well, DH has a cousin with the same name, different MI.

So, there is FRF, and FHF. FRF married a B. FHF married a S. We named our only daughters E. It was a blast at a family reunion! We all lived in the same city too

  • Hi everyone, my surgery report stated that I had a left mastectomy, uh NO it's the right side. The same right side that had the dang tumor!! I read every report and every appointment summary detail report. I also keep all of my drug reports and chemo notes. I have enough problems right now, I don't need any other mystery problems! Scary!

Rosie, the rain and cloudy days in Oregon and the rain in northwest Ohio where I used to live are similar. Oregon was #1 in the country, we were #2. Sucked. I understand why you are liking Jacksonville. It's the same reason I like the Spacecoast.

  • You don't like Ohio? I have a balmy 12 degrees tonight, and piles of ice and snow on the Lake.

First MO, put a serious wrong dx on my chart. I was talking about my concern of taking care of a patient that had open draining bloody wound. Her dx ended up on my dx list. Took six months to get it off. For that *^%% up and a his attitude problem about pain with the AI's I switched MO's. But that H&P went out to several places before I could get it corrected. Then the asshole first had it changed to -"Hepatitis C (Pt states she doesn't have this disease--she's been tested)". LIKe WTF --take it off. I had to threaten legal action.

Beachie hey, I posted to you earlier Walleye?

Spookie>>>>Rosie, we are so slow over here, 5-10 cars are a traffic jam   Now over in Tampa- St Pete--Clearwater. The Virgin Mary had to appear b/c it's so bad. Well that image on the bank building actually made the traffic worse on HWY 19. You would have thought it was Lourdes. Miles of cars going on a pilgrimage.

Susan, toying with trying a color. But I used to color and hair was like straw. Now it's soft and shiny and lots of different gray silver and white. But curious about blond. Suggestions?

If they show me films I always look for the metal marker with my name on it. Course scans are different but surely there's ID on them. I think the only thing that I've seen other than my shoulder last year are my digital mammos.

Oh absolutely about the pictures on charts. Imagine you go in a NH at 3 am to see a pt you've never seen b4. I set my netbook (hospice too cheap to buy laptop) up and sure looked to double check. Some NH have pictures already on their charts or medication cart. They should at least for the med passer. They do get pulled from other areas/floors. I've never worked in a NH but I would think it's a regulation. Actually most all of my docs don't have pictures. I think the only one that has is the gastro we went to for coloscopies. Maybe since that's all we went for had something to do with it.

Wowza I just read Amy's story. You'd think there would have been Big Red Flags like same name on his chart. Know for sure that hospitals have that protocol. Can't remember how it worked and think it was computer generated on EMR (electronic medical record). We had a special designation on the floor. Thank goodness my DH has an unusual last name at least in Texas. Much more common in NJ where FIL was from. (I do love when my little cleaners wants to know my 1st name when I pick up my cleaning. Repeat to them doubt they'll find another _ _ in my little town.) Though certainly appreciate it with my health, prescriptions. etc.

Sassy don't even get me started on the checks for hanging blood. Sends cold chills down my back even now. Doesn't matter if you can't remember what set off the ??? No nurse in their right mind would want to hang blood if 100% didn't match. Hope the BB Queen appreciated (but prob not) the diligence you expected in the process.

Anyone on here ever heard physician's dictation? Just as bad as their handwriting. Before I went back to nursing school I worked #1 for a psychiatrist and #2 after NS for an internist. #1 was looney 'nuff said. Her dictation was the pits. I used to do the dictation for #2, he was building his practice and we had few pts and I was bored silly. Months later transcriptionist called me in - listen to this, what's he saying. Oh it was easy "full court press". I told her Duke basketball was on last night, knew where phrase comes from and what he probably had been watching. And then there's my gyn who I love - I've told this b4 I went to college with him. I know basic gyn exam is rote the same description unless a problem, but I could not understand one word of it UNTIL he gets to specifics about ME. He does his dictation with patient present. Unusual. The only doc I've ever had do that.

I've read that medical fraud is either tops or near tops in fraud cases. Why I check my insurance claims online about every week even though the only doc I go to reg. is eye doc. Also I have read to run free credit checks on minor children. Will be years b4 they apply for credit in their name/SSN.

sas..hair gets like straw when you pull the color through. Chemical on top of chemical drys out the hair. First time you color, you of course have to pull through for even coverage. After that, just put color on outgrowth at scalp. If you need to refresh shaft and end a of hair, there are products, in the same line and same color that are called "color refreshers" or " for ends only". Or whatever they name them. I buy dif stuff, so not so familiar with commercial products. If you can't find the " color refreshers" than dilute you color with conditioner before you refresh. Good luc

  • Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes. Happy

Condolences to all in the bitter nasty cold weather. It's been in the 70's all week here.... even when it rained. (Just not enough.)

My daffodils are blooming. The trees all have leaf buds on them. The Bradford Pear trees are already fully bloomed out. Crazy, just crazy.

Saw my PCP on Friday, and told her I had taken a look at my "Chronic Conditions" and that half of them were not!

She said then let's go over everything, because MediCare is on our backs to prove that we are actually treating patients who have a long list of conditions.

So one by one, we started eliminating diseases and conditions from my list - like "Chronic Kidney Disease, Stage 2" because my stupid prior PCP didn't know that daily diuretics can cause low GFR. And "Meniere's Disease" because the stupid ENT didn't know her butt from an inner ear, and gave me a misdiagnosis to get rid of me..... and "Chronic Knee Pain" because one time I fell and tore the bursa on my left knee. It healed quickly. I think that was in 2008.

I think we got rid of about half my "Chronic Conditions".... they got on the list because some idiot doctor put them there mistakenly.

At least with Kaiser, you have access to almost everything in your chart by going online, and for those records not online, they are available in Medical Records. Believe me, I have a copy of EVERYTHING and I've made sure they're correct.

LMG---I can proudly say I worked for the guy that started dictation for the ER. It was back in the 70's. A patient was seen and then the dictation was done before another patient was seen. He and the hospitals Risk Manager put together a dog and pony show and lectured all over the country. He was also one of the seven founding fathers of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His major point in dictation before the next patient seen was reduced errors. He had transcriptionists in the ER with the expectation that a typed copy be on the chart before admission reviewed and signed by the ER doc. Constatine (Gus) Roussi MD. Great man. Nice memory. Oh, he could be fearsome(never was to me).  I loved him. Learned so much from him. Those seven docs are responsible for all the Emergency Medicine Residency trained docs in the world. Is that cool or what.

The BB Queen loved me. Casual friend before that blood thing. After, I was chocolate, and spice and everything nice. LOL.

Blessings, Interesting on the chronic conditions. Last visit with MO I noticed my dx list had been cleaned up. It was accurate. I was surprised. But the one dx of thyroid cancer was left off, he fixed it. Ironic that he left that off since it's his specialty. For example, the meningioma was taken off. We got it fixed by removal with the craniotomy in 2012. It didn't need to be in the problem list anymore. A thing that I carry a gene for, but it hasn't manifested itself is off the problem list. You make me wonder if they haven't been visited by someone that said clean up the charts.

Blessings- CCs and MCCs are a way healthcare orgs get better reimbursements, but Medicare is cracking down on this and other payers following suit as well. Your doctor was good to go through that list with you.

The computer fairy just erased what I wrote. I hate that. When I have not happy things to say the computer fairy zaps the send button. I have the same "clean-up fairy " in my medical chart. Fa la la la ... roses everything is roses! Well right now Camilias. Good night.
