Susan is there a product that truly is a short term product. I think I used to use a thing called Instincts(?). It was supposed to be gone in like six weeks. I'm afraid of wrecking my hair. Is there something at Sally's you would recommend? Sally's is close in two directions. It's that national chain, not sure I've got the name right.

I just checked, Nettie hasn't posted anywhere since dec 16. Who has the roll call? If it's JWoo then we should probably wait.
Sassy, son is going to Australia because girlfriend is from there.
I have a very common name. Used to having to verify everything. I don't let them give me versad because I want to see my doc in the ORand too dam curious to see everything! Only had it one time and told them never again unless I ask for it.

Sas No Fishing! I walk the beach and collect glass and driftwood, but no fishing. I do enjoy them for dinner however. I live right on the water and I can watch the fishing boats, the sea gulls always follow them. Now the Lake is frozen with 92% covered in ice.
I had my surgery at Fairview Hospital, now part of the Cleveland Clinic. Fairview has a great reputation here, and many people go there because of it. I stayed 4 days for my outpatient mastectomy in Parkview 1, and I loved it. It was like being at a spa. The nurses are fantastic, and the room service was awesome. I had a problem with my blood pressure, so they would not send me home. I would have been happy to stay longer. I loved the quiet, I had a great view, and the food was great. I know, what hospital has great food?? LOL

Sassy- I know you like thrifting and ebay for glass. I have a love for old maple furniture and Colonial style Cherry. I have been combing craigslist for maple twin beds.. found exactly what I want in Jax... sure I live here. ugh... Gorgeous. I scored a solid cherry colonial dining room set, 6 chairs and hutch/ dovetail joints 450.00 on craigs list here. I was just tickled pink! The top of the table has some sun damage, on the finish- wood is perfect, that we need to have refinished, but the table and hutch is lovely.. solid cherry. I spent most of my childhood on the East coast Pennsylvania and fell in love with colonial furniture.. ohh so nice. I love it. I have never been that in to glass or dishes, but I can just swoon over beautiful wood furniture. So the search continues... on the West coast. Funny to see all the bamboo and wicker in Florida, you rarely see that here.
Combing craigs list is addictive.

Hi all,
I am so far behind and reading bits and pieces. Trying to make sense of it all, like hanging blood...wth?
Anyhow, had my breast MRI today finally. After the last one where I was squeezed into the tube and had to stop the test, this one was a breeze. Different place better equipment.
My dogs are fine, I noticed Chevy asking about Annie Mae a while back. She gets around so good now.
So happy for you Sas on your medical report.
Where is 2nd?
Going to try and sleep, long day today. Goodnight all.0 -
Well Mama Nature shut off the snow machine for a couple of days. The next time we are to see snow is Thurs. but they don't know how much we are supposed to get out of this one yet!

Hi guys,
New to the forums, but this one seems right up my alley. I can't sleep to save my life...... I had TE's implanted last week, doing ok now, felt like I was a CPR practice dummy for a bit. Emotions are on par for what I've been dealt. Just looking to connect with some co-insomniacs. I hope I'm not alone.

Jazzy... That reminds me of when my Grandma was in Assisted Living before the Nursing Homes...
She had told me "they are stealing her lipsticks" that I had brought her... But one time, I was looking at her little red velvet Christmas tree that I had made her.... And tucked inside the ruffles of her tree, were a bunch of her lip-sticks....! Maybe she put them there, to "hide" them from someone, and then forgot about them?
But nursing homes are different....So many people can go in their rooms!
I've been reading about all your "stuff" and mixed up problems, and can't add a thing.... All I know about is coloring my hair.... Ha!
I've done it myself for the last 50 years... I buy the semi-permanent color at Sally's.... by Wella, and then I get the 20% peroxide, and section it all off, and do it myself...
I just couldn't afford it when I started.... and I just kept it up... ONE time I tried adding red to it.... But in the sun, it looked Purple.... So at MY age, I just stick with the same color.... I just like the body it gives your hair...
I still use a hot hair-setter every morning, just trying to look presentable when we go out....
Spookie, I don't think I could leave DH "home alone"...... Honest.... I think he would either burn the house down, or have everything spray painted flat black! He is HELL with a can of paint in his hand....
And the Micro-wave still baffles him..... Not to mention the Toaster/Bake oven..... I just guess I would really worry about him being alone.... It's funny, that every day when he walks down to the tavern to have a couple beers, and talk to his "buddies" I LIKE that....! If he isn't home in 1 1/2 hours I just get worried... that maybe he fell in the middle of the Avenue, or something happened...
He won't carry a cell-phone.... and that's fine.... So we are only "apart" that time every day....
Maybe it's the 57 years we've been married? But have known each other for 59 years... It's like that feeling for him goes deeper than it ever did.
I know at one time, we went through a living hell..... but we made it out, and reached the point where we WANT to be together... I just want to take care of him.... We ain't gettin' any younger, and I think we notice it in each other... I just don't like to think of him slowing down, or 'not the same" as he was....
So we are in it for the long haul.... and it's perfect this way.... Most of the time.... Ha!
And yes NETTIE! What happened to you? Are you doing okay?
Hello LilPaws! Glad Annie is getting around good!
Sass! How IS that dear Son and his girl-friend? Everything okay? My Grand-sons are still just working hard, and not any women in their lives again.... yet! Ha! Brandon just turned 29... Getting their medical supply business going, and are doing good...
And the Realty business is driving Sheri nuts! Having to deal with so many people trying to sell and buy houses... Sometimes it's a night-mare.
Going to go get our Taxes done today.... no big deal.... but I don't want to even TRY it.... Ha!

I remember when I worked at a nursing home in my last year of high school as a housekeeper on the weekends. I used to pass by the laundry room on my shift and I would see the people that worked in there checking the items that came into the laundry room to make sure they had a name on them, if they did as they were folding the finished laundry they had a listing of what room that person was in to make sure that those items got back to the proper person.

That's right! They DO make sure things go back to the right room, as much as they can.... but sometimes little women will magically remove "things" that they see in another room that they just "like".... Ha! When I found my Grandma's quilt, I just told the little lady, "oh, they must have given this to you mistakenly.... I'll just take it back to my grandma"
I didn't want to embarrass her....

Gotta love those ladies.

Frustrated and banging my head against a wall right now.

Chevy- my mother was in rehab, then we had to move her to another rehab because of issues with the first, then she went into their skilled nursing, then we moved her to assisted living out west near my sister. It was at the assisted living they stole her makeup, because it was focused on dementia care, so they let everyone wander around, including into each others rooms. I would often give her fun costume jewelry when I visited but knew it would not last.
My mother would sometimes go back to her room after lunch to nap and someone would be sleeping in her bed! The people who worked there would wake the person up and gently escort them to their own room. Pros and cons to that model, but my mother actually did very well at this place and was happy there during her final years.
Mommy- no banging your head against the wall! What is wrong? The drains bothering you? The snow and being inside? Have you called the PS yet?
Got some tax and biz things to do so have a good day ladies.
0 -
Called the PS and she says the drains are ready to come out and I made an appointment for tommorrow to have it done. The reason I'm banging my head against the wall is I'm trying to arrange for a ride and my usual rides are busy. So I had to call hubby to see if he could get off work an hour earlier than he usually does to get it done. His exact words were: "I'll see what I can do". If he can't do it tommorrow, I'll have to wait til next week to have them pulled!
I don't drive because I was in a bad accident back when I was in 8th grade and I was injured and badly shaken up over it and that killed me ever wanting to learn to drive.
0 -
Mommy- oh dang, so sorry to hear how hard this is for you to get the drains out. I am sorry too about your bad accident years ago.
There are places you can pay for a medical ride. I have had to do it on occasion as I live alone and have not always been able to get a ride from friends when I needed one. Is that an option? Might be worth it to get these out sooner and for the times you need a ride and cannot find one?

Jazzy, they only have that here for the disabled/elderly. Wish they offered that for people like me. Normally, if i had to I would take the bus to my appointments in town when I can't get a ride, but my PS's office is about 20 minutes outside of town and the bus doesn't go there.
Patty, the PS cleared me for drain removal this week. May come out tommorrow if hubby can get off work early. Otherwise, I may have to cancel my appointment again and then try again next week.

welcome Aimless. You'll probably catch someone here all times of the day and night. With the different time zones and people sleeping habits, someone is almost always here. And sorry to see you here because you have joined us b/c of BC. Chevy should be along shortly, she and Cami are our resident jokesters!
I'm doing a week of birthday celebration starting today! Milestone, 65. Already got to use my new card that's Medicare. It doesn't change anything on my end, just how things are paid by insurance. Doing movie and lunch today, dinner tomorrow, lunch with mom on Thursday. Something with my DS Friday.
Finally got notice that grandson will stay on our ins for at least the next year. He turns 26 in March. Hopefully he'll get over the CRPS before too long. It's now been year and a half. Docs have no idea if or when it will get better. He still wants to amputate his leg. Not going to happen any time soon.
You guys back east, be careful. Another storm headed your way. Hope we get some more.

Welcome Aimless in Seattle! You should have named yourself sleepless in Seattle. No just kidding. You can amuse yourself here... folks talk about everything imaginable.
I love to read the online NY Times and this morning they had an interesting article on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, written by David Tuller. I didn't know the the name Chronic Fatigue Syndrome was coined by the CDC in 1988! Anyway because of the social backlash over it not being a real disease... they want to change the the name of it to "Myalgic Encephalomyolitis and spinal cord inflammation with muscle pain or ME/ CFS. I didn't realize kids got it either. It appears there might be a trigger like a viral infection etc.. They aren't exactly certain what starts it. Anyway I know some of you suffer with it and might find the article interesting. It's in the "WELL" Health section.
Patty- great news on the pain!!! What did they say if anything about the Headaches? Just curious. Can you move around better?
Hi Teka!
Happy Birthday Smarty!

M0mmyof2, the American Cancer Society can provide rides for treatment etc. They have volunteer drivers. I'm not sure if they anyone in your area, but may be worth the call to check and see. Or perhaps you could check with local churches, neighbors, or ask at your Doctors office. They may know of a resource in your area. Is there a college nearby? Perhaps a student maybe be looking for a few dollars. I hope something works out for you. I am alone and it was hard to get around on the days I need someone to drive me to surgery etc. One of my former employees asked his grandmother to drive me. She was a retired nurse and had too much time on her hands, so it worked out well.
I am sorry about the accident, I too was in a bad accident with my ex. I always drive because I need the control it gives me. I am not a good rider. Good Luck, I hope it works out.

OMD..... My lunch was excellent. Nuked a potato, heated up the leftover chili mac. Topped the potato with the heated chili mac, and shredded cheese! So stuffed that it ought to hold me now til dinner! Now i'm just sitting here in my recliner watching Princess tear around the house in her play mode. She's got what they call "kitty crazies". Used to love to watch Charcoal when he had a case of them, even when he outgrew his kitten phase.
Hubby hasn't heard back from his boss yet. So I'm playing it by ear with the ride situation and praying it goes in hubby's favor. Looking forward to the first real shower since the surgery!

Hi MammaRay- glad you came back here. Sorry you are having a difficult week. This is a good place to come talk when times are hard. We all just understand each other here.
I am having a challenging day around some new work negotiations, but nothing I cannot handle. Otherwise, I am okay!
0 -
Jazzy, Sorry to hear that today is challenging, but confident that you will prevail!
MammaRay, Hi. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. I love Ohio! "Round on the ends and HI in the middle" I do not even know when or why we used to chant that??? I hope that you are physically well. Living is difficult enough without the aches and pains... May your day brighten up!

Well, Jazzy, that certainly brightened my day! laughing out loud... literally.

Welcome back MammaRay. Sure I remember you. Anything we can do to help with the bad week? Does this help any?
Mommyof2 - Fingers/toes and anything else crossed that DH gets his time off to take you. I think others have offered good suggestions for future events. Is a cab ride possible? I have nearly the same problem here. I'm very rural, DH works fulltime an hour away. I have church friends but my docs are not where most of them go which is 20-25 min. Mine are 45-60 min away in city. If it comes to that I will have to beg some rides. I have done the same for others and would do it now if asked.
Welcome Aimless. Not that BC is our destination but these women have become very special friends.
