Oh wait! Firstly.... Spookie! Dagnabbit, that term you are looking for is
F-A-I-N-T-E-D.... "fain-TED".... I mean PASSED OUT... "Took a Dive" or even "near death."
Do you mean HYPOGLYCEMIA ????
Wren! So true! But Janie just covers her windshield with this cover thing, that slams in both car doors....
But that picture I posted was on the Internet, showing how deep the snow was in part of Massachusetts... Man, that would have been the worst!
And Good Morning to "Daisy, Amy, and "MamaRaybackagain".... That's what Sass said... Her name is "MamaRaybackagain".... Rather long, but we'll get it. WELCOME! Just remember I don't pay attention all the time, and I miss some of you new gals.... So just never mind me....!
I'll probably shorten your name "mamaRaybackagain" to something like just plain Ma.... or something... Anyway, Nice to see you 3 here.... You know each other? Sass paid you to come here?
I'm the serious one here..Me and Cammi... although you will hardly ever see "Cammille" or what IS her name, anyway? Cams? Cammers? SHE don't even know! The men in her community call her CAMERASHY... it is a term of endearment for her.... She just hates when they make her pose for those "pictures"...... Her "job" involves phones, and money... and well, YOU know... But we love her just the same... even WITH her foibles.
You GUYS!!! It will be ONE YEAR in 2 days that I fell...(and that's another story) and broke my hip! So it's my "HipsNparts" Birthday !!!! Now if EYE can do it, anybody can!

On the other hand, I got great news last night. Hubby was checking his work email when he got home because when he had sent the request to his boss explaining why he was requesting to leave early, he hadn't heard back from the boss before he left work for the day. Thought his boss was going to say "no". To my shock in the email to my hubby he told him it was fine and that my health was important. So it looks like after today the drains are a thing of the past!

OKAY! Second page.... first verse.... it oughta get better but it's gonna get worse!... Remember that?
Morning HiHo! Did you HAVE that shoulder surgery? Or is it up-coming? And what you mean your pictures are disturbing??? I just posted SOME... Not all... In some of my pictures I looked like a little homeless waif or something...
You were talking about "chairs?" I found these two out in the alley, and painted them... But I don't leave them outdoors... I put them on my covered little front porch... I have to give the straw-bottomed one another coat, because the paint just sinks right in.... But I LOVE them...
(See, this group here KNOWS how much time I spend in the alley, so this is just ANOTHER alley story)
MammaRayBackAgain.... I MEANT to welcome you, but I was probably off on my usual meaningless dissertation of the world... So WELCOME anyway. I don't know a Buckeye from a Pinto bean! Is that like Black-eyed Peas? You cook them up at New-years for good luck?
And there is "DAISY"! I love that name.... I'll just bet that you like Daisies!!! Am I right? You SEE how fast I pick things up?
Shut-up Cammi!!
Oh I reMEMBER that about the Kitty-crazies! I remember our cat did the same things! Like he was Posessed, and had a wind-up toy inside him...Ha! That is so nice you offering to drive Mom2! You guys better watch the weather...! It snowed here a little, and it is raining sleet, and snow, and whatever right NOW! So staying in today...
Oh eeks! You guys talking about paranormal stuff? Man, that scares me... Unless you mean like angels, and feeling like someone is "with" you?
That was funny, about you scratched your head and thought of HiHo...Ha!
Smarty! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I thought I already said that once.... didn't I?
Once is all you get.... xoxo
Ah geez.... she designed a quilt.... Is there ANYthing she CAN'T do? And on the computer? See, she IS "smart!"
MAGS!!!!!!!!!!! OMD!!!!!!!!!! Your Husband is hysterical! I have never HEARD that! That is GREAT! I was reading that, and thought, he must be onto something there.... and then I read the end! HaaaaaaaaHAAAH!
Blessings! She's only 62? I mean Smarty? You guys are all just kids still!
So okay HiHo.... It IS over... Hope the PT helps you... It probably WILL be painful at first... I remember going with my Daughter, for her appointments after her Rotator Cuff surgery, and I had to leave the room... She did it though.... and is fine now....
Morning LilPaws.... Hope you get your Mom's finances straightened out...
Are you her POA? We just put our home in our Daughter's names with a Quit Claim Deed... and the girls are on our bank accounts...
Our "older" friends turned over everything of theirs to their Son, and DIL.. She is the one that told me about the Quit Claim Deed. It is for if anything happens to US, and we have to go to a nursing home, or assisted living, then the State will take over all of your assets if you run out of money from your bank! They can take our home... but not if it is in their name.
So the Son pays for their monthly bills at the Assisted Living, and rents out their home, to pay for the Mom's monthly care. They live in separate rooms, and they pay $3000 EACH for every month! Eddie gets SS, plus his Military, and Pension from Coors, and that takes care of his....But Theresa only gets minimal SS... And the house rent helps with that....
So in other words they have no responsibility at all, with their finances.
Also, I had to be made POA with my Grandma, because she sort of lost her mind... and forget everything... It wasn't easy tracking down what she had been writing those checks for! But it's good that you are taking charge of what is going on with your Mom...
Good Morning Beaches and Rosie! Rosie you said "You are too tired to sleep???" That's kind of funny, but not really! I know what you man though... Your Carmen adventure sounds just GREAT! I would love that too!
And MammaRaywhohascomebackwiththelongname is sitting on the couch trying to decide if it is either more food or a show.... I say both! Go sneak an ice-cream cone.... just a little one... that is my favorite... !

Good morning. Thought I'd join you and say hello as I woke from an anxiety dream about a nurse insisting on giving me injections through my clothes even though I protested that this wasn't sterile. It's probably because my right breast hurts from 2 biopsies last week. Anyway, I'm looking at photos friends have sent me to see if I can calm myself enough to sleep a little more. My good news yesterday is that the tumors and DCIS on the right are better (smaller, slow-moving, ER/PR receptive) than expected, so even though I'm still scheduled for a bilateral mastectomy, I may not have to have the almost year-long course of chemo and radiation my oncologist was musing about. You'd think I'd be sleeping better tonight, but it takes the unconscious a while to catch up.

Hey Ksusan! Good Morning! Hope you finally got to sleep a little better! You are just new here! Don't let any of us scare you.... mainly me, Ha! It's been over 5 years for me, and I'm just going on, like the whole BC thing was another bump in the road.... Hope you get to this point... And you WILL...!
I think if you go for the bilateralmastectomy, you probably won't have the year long course! Did you read what some of the gals on here are saying about their one-sidedness, or their wishes for that now? But don't go by anything I tell you.... because I barely know how to put a band-aid on....

Anyway.... Welcome!

So you mean these?
http://www.luckymojo.com/buckeyes.html....
I just read where they are not edible! Don't they look kind of like a Chestnut? Only you can roast THOSE, and eat them around the Holiday's?
See? I DO pay attention... Those chocolate ones remind me of dark chocolate round candies with the soft chocolate center,,,, what are they called? Bon Bon's? It's hard to rope in my train of thought sometimes,
See how the rest of them just are sleeping, and ignoring us? Hah!
0 -
Oh wait! Hold your horses here! I just found THIS!
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/buckeyes-i/
It's amazing how much time I have to waste early mornings....

Real Buckeyes are so nasty the squirrels WONT eat them.
The peanutbutter-chocolate ones, Yum!!!!!
0 -
Okay, let's analyze this further.... since I have nothing else to do............Squirrels even like them, but have a hard time breaking through the shell! I SEE pictures of the Ohio State Buck-Eyes! One of their logo's has/have a buck-eye tree leaf, which closely resembles our current fad of weed here in Colorado! So guess this means we have something in common?
0 -
Oh Spooks woke up! So this means you have tasted them!
0 -
Spooky, come OVER! The sun is going to come out today... and melt the little snow & ice we got last night! We could sit out back and drink coffee and your Jack Daniels!
And tell dirty jokes... And smoke.... just like in High School!

mammaray, good luck with tests.....you are in my prayers, Always friend

Pawprint....my reconstruction, both sides, tissue transfer from tummy, no implants, was done 14 years ago. Still uncomfy to wear a bra. Lucky I am not big, so cotton thick strap tees are my go to under all my clothes. Doesn't look as good as a bra would...but that's what's comfy. Prob would have stayed flat, no reconstruction if I knew it would always be uncomfy.....but who knows, maybe no matter what I would always have that feeling just cause of the surgery. Hard to know which would be more comfy.
Haven't read anything so sorry if I have missed wishing someone a painfree day or something. I will go back and read....later after work.
Our construction guy can't finish the job he started here (pulled in to many directions), Ha, I don't think he really knows what that means...whatever, he started on the major bath in bedroom and has left it drywalled, taped, and sanded. No tile, sink, toilet or shower....he is one of those guys who says yes to everyone. And we are the type who say, ok, no problem. Had a long talk with him yesterday, we parted on good terms, just said he needed to be here to finish and if he couldn't we needs to find someone else. He doesnt know when he could fit us inn to finish, we are looking for someone else now. he knew my hubby is getting back surgery The end of the month...so it stinks. A walk in shower would have been nice. Oh well, there are worse things...just needed to spe

Thanks for the welcome. No sleep tonight, I think. I may get on a slow treadmill (bearing in mind the "no jiggling" injunction from the radiologist after the biopsy) and write my lesson plans for between now and my surgery.
Thanks for the recommendation for Carmen, Rosevalley. I don't think I'll make it there until spring, but I'm planning to get my prosthetics and bras there. Most of the PNW doesn't have what you'd call a fine selection of falsies.

CHEVY, the squirrels don't like them. Never saw one eating them. Yeah, the leaf is shaped like your weed leaf! Those Buckeyes are in Columbus? Or Athens? Usually have good football teams.
Are you Jacks friend? Not me, a wee dram of Scotch for me, thank you!
And your thawing out? Wow! Can't ask for more!
Yes, I'm up, going back to bed for a while. Today is pick up grands day. Must rest up

Nah.... my Dad was a whiskey drinker.... I hated even the smell... Aren't whiskey, scotch, bourbon.. all about the same? Yes, the sun is coming out.... and looks like it is going to warm up a little.... This came in my email.... so cute!

Good morning- it has been a busy place here last night. I have been waking up too early (like 4 a.m.) the past two nights, and feel like I am dragging today. But I decided to change a few plans up and make things easier. The wind was up last night banging things around and now we have a pretty steady down pour of rain this morning.
Welcome KSusan. Anxiety dreams are pretty common right now with everything you are going through and processing. Never a lot of time to adjust to the news before you get marched quickly into surgery and other treatment. We will be here with you as you go through the next year with all you need to do.
Mommy- great news that your husband can take you in today to get the drains out. When we hear from you next you will be home and freshly showered, no doubt. Enjoy that shower, and you likely really enjoy them for some time now. I came to REALLY appreciate a hot shower after everything I went through a couple years ago.
MammaRay- wishing you good outcomes on your tests. It never gets much easier going through these. Hoping all is well and that you are in good health!
Mags- that joke is hilarious. I especially love the very last part. Almost 3/5 through your treatments this week and 2 more weeks to go. Counting down with you still......
Chevy- is that your patio and plants?

Ksusan- the singers in the opera play all different cities. Shelton the tenor lists- San Diego, Boston ,NY, Australia in his credits, to name a few. So it's not like anyone need come to Portland, Oregon in the rainy season. My parents took me to Opera when I was a kid. I saw my first at age 11 on a public school field trip. My Dad grilled me on the story line before we went! I guess it's what you grow up with. My Dad loved big bands (sang in one in the Army and college; he had a gorgeous baritone voice) and he loved classical music, so my brothers and I were hammered from a young age. No escape.
Good luck finding prosthetics you like.
Momof2- great for the ride! Enjoy seeing those drains out! I see the ortho doc today.. that should be interesting. See what this possible pathological fracture comment on the scan might mean. Hopefully nothing.
Love the Spring plants! Our Camillias are blooming and the daffodils are up and nearly ready to flower. Kind of early even for here.

Spookie-- Ohio State University is in Columbus.
As far as the drains go, I'm counting down the hours. Will probably celebrate their removal with a Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee. As you know, the weather here has been lousy and I didn't even want to tempt fate while walking on some of the sidewalks here on my street for the fear I'd slip and fall and cause damage.

ok, so it's Ohio U in Athens

Hi, Owlies, just posted this to another BCO member. It's universally useful. It's about skin.
HI__________. No I didn't start the thread., but have some ideas. keep in mind not everything works for everyone.
are you still going through rads? That can change what I suggest. My experience with rads is zilch. You can run the stuff by your rads doc for clearance

Tepid--warm water soaks for 1/2 hour 3/4 hour. Classic orthodox time is 20 minutes three times a day. Pick and choose what works for you. NEVER use Hot water. It will make the condition worse--hot water promotes the release of histamine which causes itch. Itch leads to scratching. Scratching leads to broken skin. Broken skin leads to infection. Best if it's submersion like a pot/larger tub/bath. Compresses as a last resort. They are used if nothing else available.
Cetaphil moisturizing CREAM---for dry , sensitive skin. LOL it looks and feels like lard. It loves the skin. There is a pump product, but I find the cream very much better LOL the English teacher wouldn't like that one. Apply twice a day as needed. I use it head to toe.
Omega3 oil. must be from reputable health /nutrition store. I buy Barleans--they certify free of contaminants. Must be refrigerated. Take a capsule with each meal for a couple of weeks. Then reduce to 1-2 capsules a day with meals. Watch your complexion. You'll start getting compliments in about 4 weeks, nice when it starts happening at our age. Fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, sea bass are great sources too.
Vita-d3 1000-2000 units a day.( reputable health /nutrition store). Have vita d---d3 &d2 tested twice a year. Try to get sun exposure for 15-30 minutes a day. Take with meals ADE &K vitamins are fat soluble. There must be some fat in the meal to help absorption
Vita C---promotes wound healing. Get from natural source like greens and o.j. versus pill.
B complex good for lot's of things, but keeps the liver happy. Amazing what impact a healthy liver has on all seven body systems. (reputable health /nutrition store). B complex will cover all the B's. If you are taking a folic acid ---note B complex has the recommended folic acid 400 mg. DO NOT take a Stress B. It doesn't cover the B's the same and it has C in it.
There are several items that can be used in the tepid soaks. The choice is related to the problem. The amount used in the soak is related to how big the soaking unit is, we will leave that to a different post.
All of this needs to be run by Rads doc. Omega is the one that likely may be nixed. If so talk to them about natural resources. Key is to get over 1000mg a day. No clue about the sun exposure and rads. But this just supports why this all has to be run by the RO.
EDIT debated about putting this here b/c bleach and cider vinegar used improperly can be trouble. Particularly bleach. The research re: Bleach was first published in the Journal of Pediatrics in April of 2009. It has since been studied and republished by many journals. The original pediatrics study raised an up roar in the non-scientific community. Later publications were careful to identify that the amount of bleach added to a tub bath created the same concentration of what would be found in a Commercial(public) swimming pool. If you want to google re: the bleach, use key words "dilute bleach baths and skin infection" That will pull many articles.
Thought of this after I posted it on the board.
"There are several items that can be used in the tepid soaks. The choice is related to the problem. The amount used in the soak is related to how big the soaking unit is, we will leave that to a different post."
Infection --bleach-----use with physician okay.
fungal---cider vinegar, can use white vinegar, but the preferred is cider vinegar. Will be back with a wonderful link on cider vinegar.
http://homeremediesforlife.com/vinegar-for-eczema/
Swelling, fatigue, muscle soreness, bruises---------epsom salts
All three are drawing solutions. Care must be used to use the right amount for the size of the unit. i.e too much bleach and you can create a chemical burn. Right amount of bleach and it will kill MRSA. MRSE--------The really bad staphs.

All you natural born Buckeyes. Can you imagine I married a buckeye and I'm a wolverine? It was HELL when they played each other. HELLLLLLLL. Loved DH, but if I knew what hell there would be by marrying into his Buckeye family---Uh-UHHH wouldn't of done it. Sorry if that sounds harsh. It wasn't just a football thing, the family treated me awful. Like I was a ghost.
0 -
Hey Sass, just because we have the best football team and the Best Damn Band In The Land, can't imagine why they did not like you! But the love hate relationship runs deep in Ohio!
0 -
Beachie, That's what I heard the whole time I lived in Ohio. On game days between Ohio State and Michigan State, I would get a book and not even speak. If I tried to talk to anyone, they would just totally ignore me. Which was similar to there treatment all year long, but was worse on game days. That's why I say I was a Ghost.

BTW when I was reviewing the article that Rosie referred to yesterday, noticed an article that the American Heart Association and American _______Nutritionist Association(?) are going to be coming out with new guidelines about fat. They finally are admitting that their research and recommendations re: Fat intake recommendation have been wrong for decades. Not a surprise. Think about each groups support of margarine and other man made oils etc. that backfired b/c of the identification of trans fatty acids. Now everything has to be marked with trans fatty acid content. Enjoy Gods given butter and eggs
Now I wonder how long it will take to get the man made sweetners debunked.

Pawprint, There are several threads for people who don't reconstruct. Some of the posters did reconstruct and had it removed. Most of them seem pretty happy they did.

Okay now you guys! THAT conflict sounds like when I met my boyfriend, who has been my Husband for 57 years! The Italians do NOT take kindly to any of their own even THINKING about associating with someone who is not their chosen race! I mean they do NOT care for women of some un-known Irish, or Scotch heritage.... If they happen to be Italian, then they pass muster..... but only then. Or you can be Greek, or Albanian.... just not Irish! Ha, hah! Guess I showed THEM!
And I won't even get INTO the thought that only Son's can be born to that couple! It's a wonder they didn't take all the baby girls and lay them out on the ice in Alaska!
Thank DOG it is not that way anymore.... Most people are more civilized than that....

OH Chevy, yes, you are totally right as usual. The sunbather is so right too LOL0
