Celebrated the drains being taken out not only with an iced coffee but a cheeseburger from McDonald's, hubby's treat!
Sas, your situation is kind of like mine NFL-wise. I'm a Packers/Vikings fan who married a Patriots fan. Plus, the NCAA men's Final Four last year was torture for me since I am a Badgers fan and hubby is a Huskies fan. Ended up routing for hubby's team after Kentucky knocked my team out of being in the final two.
Hey Blondie, how are ya?

Hi ladies- I see you have been busy here today.
Sassy- I have heard some of the brain docs talking about the lack of fats in our diets for awhile now. Many think by reducing fats in our diets, it has worked against brain health, as the brain is made up most of fat vs. protein like muscles, or calcium like bones. There are some schools of theory that by reducing our fats in our diets, it has contributed to dementia, although I don't think I have seen anything for sure published on that front. Just a theory, but think there may be some linkage there? I have always eaten cheese, use olive oil for my cooking, etc. and my cholesterol is fine. We have lots of dementia in the family, including the early on set kind, so I pay attention to these things around brain health.
Chevy- I have a friend whose college aged daughter did the blue hair with the ombre-shading like in the first picture you posted. I looked great on her. I talked to my stylist about weaving in some fun peices of color, but realized as a consultant, probably would not go over well anymore than lots of tatoos and peircings (which I don't have either, only my ears pierced!) I would love to do mine a turquoise, but think I will have to wait for retirement for that!

Probably will never color my hair. If I did ever want to do that, I'd love to go back to being as blond as I was when I was a baby. The first Christmas of my life, my parents had to put a bow like you put on a Christmas gift to lift and show people I had hair. I was so blond I looked like I was bald-headed lol
0 -
I color my hair. Naturally dark but then went super gray at 40. So now I am blonde. They say blondes have more fun, but my best fun was as a red head......
0 -
Went from blond to medium brown with blonde highlights and bits of gray. My maternal grandfather had black hair right up to when he got real sick with Parkinson's and then his hair went all gray.

Jazzy - I've heard of putting some color underneath so it's hidden unless you want it to show. Not sure what happens when the wind blows lol. Cammers uses hair chalk, could be fun to use for partay times.
Mommyof2 - excellent news about the drains.
Chevy - Aimless was here a couple of days ago. Hope she returns. You can make her laugh.
0 -
Chalk is a great idea! I have to find out more about that. Then I can play with color without messing with more permanent stuff.
Cami- can we see your chalked hair sometime? Pretty please?
0 -
Chevy and Jazzy LOVE those hair colors. Cami got me into using hair chalk. I have about 5-6 different colors. With the white/gray hair the colors show up nice. Match them to clothes. One top has all the colors--used them all except orange. What's nice with the chalk is it washes out. Who started this Hair color thing?
Jazzy, 80% of cholesterol is manufactured in the body-liver. How exogenous-outside the body cholesterol is used within the body has little impact on blood cholesterol levels. The American Heart Association(AHA) has put many recommendations in place since the late 60's early 70's that have been believed to be the gold standard with time showing those standards aren't gold, but fools gold. As an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor and a Basic Life Support Instructor( BCLS) Trainer during my EMS years, the joke about AHA among the teachers throughout the state(Ohio) and nationally was "What are we teaching this year". But at least the AHA was willing to revamp as they learned. I would rather have them admit that they weren't right, then continue with what is wrong.
What I've learned in going through the thyroid cancer is the national organizations for Endocrinology and Thyroid are far less willing to relook at their ---gold standards. TSH just recently within the last 8-10 years has been revised. Many believing that TSH normal was revised in the last 2-3 years when really it's 8-10years. The responsible organizations just didn't promulgate it.
Their whole 4-5 1/2 decades standards of the diseases/conditions and treatments under their purview are in need of serious serious change. What both organizations have done is cause tens of thousands of people to not receive appropriate care. More than just sad, in my book it's scientific arrogance and negligence. With that thought, part of my visit at Moffitt next week with my BigWig Thyroid doc who is part of the elite world thyroid docs is ask him why? I'm going to take the book that I was one of the authors and say to him "I know a few people can change the world b/c we did it. There are now >500,000 people now trained from that book and the course started under the auspices of two organizations. The core group of us that got it going was small--less than 3 dozen). The reason to reference my challenge that way is I want him to know I'm not blowing wind. We had a belief things could be better
" Why is the Endocrinology community not listening to all the people seeking help?"
There is a flip side to illness i.e. cancer, that has been a benefit which is learning what is real and what is bogus. In 2015, to find these deficiencies within a field of medicine is not acceptable.
LOL Rant over.

Jazzy, you can get hair chalk at Sally's. It's a national chain. One gal at Target told me she got an artist set of chalks at target for her daughter. Many colors. Works as well as Sally's. They were out at Target when I was trying to buy mine. There are some liquid colors available that are supposed to be washable. I tried one and threw it out.
Those three gals hair on the previous page are just beautiful.

Sassy- we have Sally's here, I will stop there and get some when I am over that way! Thanks for telling me!

Moffitt next week? When? Maybe lunch or din?

Hole-In-One--------you did my heart proud when you said I got you addicted to thrifting, made my day. Must go find you a pretty glass pic.
definition of American Brilliant Cut glass.
http://www.cutglass.org/articles/whatisabp.htm
Nice story about a Hawkes pedestal base. Base value 500.00 by the appraiser. The value of the bowl with the pedestal base would be between 6,000-12,000$
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/archive/200706A18.html
Pretty piece, this was cut by a trainee of Hawkes.
http://www.brilliantglass.com/cutting_houses/_Sinclaire.html
Hawkes put the American Brilliant Cut glass on the world stage when he won at the World Fair in Paris 1889. He's consider kind of the father of the art in the USA. ABC glass was not made in the USA after 1917.

When we saw my kid yesterday for dinner I have to admit I was a bit shocked. She went to the beauty school nearby and had them dye her hair.. supposedly a tasteful ash... so not - purply red. sigh... kids. She truly would look good bald. I suggested a Haley Berry short do until this insane color wears off. She said nope. She's 19. I bought her a cute shirt and she liked it! I do not care for the hair color.
Back from the ortho guy. Nice fellow. I was a tad late but they were so nice.. round and round looking for parking. Gotta love those paper shorts.. fashion statement. Anyway, lots of xrays.. now more tests. Personally I don't think it looks so bad - aches like heck. What do I know..? Yep that's a femur - Whoot Hoot!! Everything aches so friggin much.. I thought it was funny that he asked "what do you do for fun?" I said, "nothing, I try not to move." Sad but true. I could kick myself for not asking for a disabled parking plackard. I just look longingly at those lovely blue spaces upfront... then I wouldn't have to walk so far. I parked in outer Mongolia only to find out they have valet parking - rats!
I was talking to my kid's shrink when we got on the subject of vitamin D3 and levels and all. I was wondering what do most of you do? Do any of you divide the doses 1000 am and 1000pm. We just all down 2000 units once a day. I figure too much splitting and we will forget. The recommendations of 400units being adequate are absurd. Clearly folks in the NW need WAY more in the winter. Sassy oh wonder wisdom woman- what have you learned?

Saw Oncologist today and got stabbed with Lupron. This thread is so busy. I feel like it is the middle of the night.
Mags - that was very very funny. Did your shoulder issues start with arthritis?
HoleinOne - How soon will you be able to do PT? Mags has shoulder problems as well! My MIL had tendons in her shoulder sown together last week. (She had breast cancer as well.) I don't remember ever hearing of shoulder issues like this before - crazy. I do know that I would miss being able to use my arms! Wishing all of you a speedy recovery.
Pawprint, I am pretty sure that the women (they remain active on many threads) on this thread, "Implants Removed - YAY!" would answer questions on going flat:
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/82/topic/...
I did not have reconstruction but like to wear many different prostheses... I like being just me!
Mommy - Happy for you!! You chose to celebrate with an ICED coffee? More snow Tomorrow and this weekend!
Rosevalley - You are a night owl! I can't carry a note... I always love to hear beautiful voices. Good that you could see your daughter! Mine is a Sophomore - just spoke on the phone. Hoping she will come home for the summer. Love the hair color story - my daughter won't do highlights. She tells me "I am beautiful just the way I am." My fault - I've never been very feminine. Hope you recover from the late night. Hope the Ortho was helpful. You should get a placard.
MammaRay - hoping tests went smoothly and results come quickly. I have never done a PET scan - is the play-doh smell to be expected? I love the smell of crayons... not so much play-doh? Buckeyes - who doesn't love chocolate and peanut butter?
Chevy - isn't the snow that deep everywhere in MA? More tomorrow and then Saturday. People are stealing snow blowers! It is beautiful. I am confused - Is the pole in the alley? I love daisies
Cat in the snow was cute - mine hate the snow. Ksusan- Hello! I did BMX, no radiation with mine
Hope you get the answers that you want. I have ordered some foobs online... I just went to fitter today and ordered 2 of the new Amoena Cosmetic - it was squishy, felt like a real boob (they only had 1). Susan3 - I have pondered the DIEP... leaning toward not doing it. Thanks for sharing! Hope the construction guy doesn't have your money!
SAS - my cousin grew up in Columbus going to OSU games. (Our family had season tickets even though no family member ever went there.) She chose to go to U of Michigan - she is/was a rebel. That rivalry is legendary. I know and love people on both sides... I bet if you held the Lipton's French Onion Dip, they would have paid attention!
Beachbum - hello
Blondie - hope the food is decent and you are healing.
Jazzy - you make a beautiful redhead. My hair is black with grey highlights. My wig is light brown with blonde highlights... I prefer my natural look - it doesn't itch. Today the shop at Dana Farber had all these colored wigs with bangs like this:

Now I know why - you guys are all wearing hot colors...

I had my D3 tested years ago because of my fibro. I was waaaaaay low. Pain mgmt doc said 5000 per day. I sure can tell if I miss a day.
Then MO said 5000 per day, with 1200 calcium per day. I split that, 600 am & pm.
Last labs they ran the D test. Nobody has called, so I guess I'm still in range, but new MO had talked about upping D3 because of the arimadex.
It's D3 the body has trouble making, be sure that's what you are taking

Rosie, wish I knew more. But I down one 2000, D3 a day with food. ADE&K vitamins are fat soluble. Should be taken with a meal to be absorbed well. I take my Omega3 & D at the same time with meals. Even though I've had all this crummy stuff happen. I do credit Omega3 as part of why I'm here. Krips my initial D level----------- " <4 , unable to measure". Shock since I lived in Florida. But we worked 12 hour shifts--went to work in the dark and came home in the dark. Slept the next day(or two)---so, no sun. Then here we were drilled to not go in the sun between 10am and 5pm. Lots of thought about it's connection to cancer and BC. Hmmm I guess I'd be a poster child for deficiency. Now I'm trying to keep it up with Sun and capsules.
Now we have public service announcements about getting some sun every day without sunscreen.
Call the nurse and ask him to send the paper work through for a disabled permit.

Hi ladies- you are busy bees tonight. My friend came and took away one of my TVs. She made a suggestion for where to donate the other one. Now back to the chore of setting up the new ones. Who are they kidding when they say "easy set up directions?" It never is......
I take 5000 mg of Vit D and do 1500 mg of Calcium daily. The Vit D is a one shot pill, but am trying the calcium in smaller doses, 3X a day. I know I have talked about my osteopenia increasing on the AI drugs and the Prolia shot I did a couple week ago. They told me to really keep up with this stuff.
Which reminds me, I was also told to get an updated Vit D test so I will call tomorrow for a lab order and think I want to check my A1C again.
Daisy- thank you for the compliments on pulling off the redhead. I hope there are no SEs from the Lupon?

Spookier, that makes your dose 150,000units a month? Hmm shucks my endocrine guy that I fired wanted me on a 100,000 units a month. 50,000 twice a month. He kept following that "we" would have to watch kidney function. Ticked me off he never had an answer as to - what. I couldn't find anything, but didn't work that hard on it. I stayed on the 50000---numbers were good, but they were on the low end of normal. Never found anything that gave a definite range. now on 2000/daily by choice. That being only 60000, by what yourtaking I'm way low. I'd move it up in a nano second ifi could make sure it wasn't hurting me.Any chance you can ask your docs? How long have you taken it at this level? Did they ever mention anything on the kidney?
On a quest then.
Two docs wanting you that high-different medical specialties and the drug is considered the specialty area of endocrinology........ Gives me something else to ask BW Moffitt doc.... Also, raises big questions bbl if I can find anything
What's everyonelse doing? Btw my less than 4 level was dx'd end of 2007. BC dx'd end of 2008.
When you say your stuff about vita d, pleas indicate if you have thyroid problems too. Hmm don't answer till I make up a questionnaire. Hmm maybe I can do a thread topic questionnaire. Okay i'll do that . We did a questionnaire on STFU about animals and it worked out okay.
All over th boards, questions about d and thyroid are dropped. That ,also, was going to be part of talking with BW doc. I don't want to alienate him because he is better than anyone in three counties around me, but ask said before... too many people ill with thyroid disease.
The thyroid pages like this are full of very illpeople that their Endo docs are saying nothings wrong with them because their TSH is in range.
Okay bbl

Hi ladies~
Welcome to all the new owlets! hootiehooo
We still have one more day here in the big city of West Plains, MO. All joking aside, I really like it here, so pretty. We were supposed to come up in the spring for a fun visit with DBFs family. Now we will need to make another trip up for a memorial later. Still dealing with my feelings, had a long conversation with his mom today in the room she left in while he was out running errands. Made me feel a little better. Except when the lights started flickering... Old house.
Anyhow- We'll be driving back to Texas on Friday, with important items, including her pup. Sas, she had several glass items, we put several in storage for now, but may need your help identifying it all later. Still so much we are leaving behind, she was really a collector of everything.
Can't fully catch up, but saw your pics about hair color Chev- I've always been a proponent of fun colors. This was mine the night I got my port. It was bright red, orange, and yellow in the back. You can tell i had had several beers here already :
:

Do it! You only live once!
ok- off to bed- tomorrow is a very busy day- have to finish up and wash the dog, etc...
love you all!
