Well, now The AKC tracks in breeding and at one point threatened to disqualify certain breeds b/c of tempermant problems. Haven't watched it(AKC) for awhile. But do remember the Springer Spaniel had a rage problem.

I didn't watch last night. Forgot. It's going to be tight as always. The PWD is the second winningest dog of all time for best in show---except at Westminster.

Grew up with Collies, had Brittany's for 20 years, Crossbreed beagle and schnauzer----------OMD that dog was a runner. Now Schatzi a Germanwired Haired Pointer. Shats--Schatzi-----she will be with my ashes for eternity.  Love dogs

Did learn from an owner about the politics that they try to make the public not believe is there. Think our government is political.......

Border Collies aren't at WM? Never caught that--------why not?

Krips in agility they are the best and considered the best in herding...............????????

    Or is it Australian shepards?

The best are coming out------------great dogs, great reputations................Sheesh  a Shits-sui(sic)----don't like the breed.. I want Matisse.

MammaRay you asked what we did, and did anyone consider alternative. The question says to us you are considering alternative. My question to you is why? Is someone trying to influence you? Are you gathering info? Has what you have been reading influenced you? What's going on in your head?

In order for anyone to respond to the point, we need to know more of what your thinking?

Long day today. RO, rads, blood draw/port flush, MO. Skin is starting to show reddish and last night I had a tender spot which turned out to be a burst blister, so bolus comes off tomorrow. Five more, then five whatchamacallems. OMD I hate cancer brain.

MO is sending me to their dermatologist about the eczema. It's pretty bad. And my eosinophils which have stayed at 0 are now at 16.

As soon as I finish rads, I will start anastrazole.

    I think that's all I have.

Mommy have fun spending money, but forgive your DH. Guys don't get romance. Maybe some. It happens for some right around proposal time then tapers off. Then the rest is different for all. I put up with DBF b/c we have quite a physical relationship. DH was perfect in so many things. DH had troubles, where DBF doesn't.  But I was mostly looking at the ceiling for a year after DH died. I do realize that I like what DBF can provide that DH couldn't. Even though  DBF can't match Dh. So, Dbf has major failures in many things compared to DH. I'm cutting him major slack. If I was starting out DBF wouldn't even be a second thought. But at this end, pretty nice.

Ibgal- you ditched clinical practice for research. cool. Sounds interesting. I was amazed you said Taxol and Xeloda were easy no issues! You are the first poster that said that! Triple neg is a hard road. Good luck to you.

Rose, did you get the Murphy bed figured out? A friend just bought one, she said they are complicated, I am not sure if it will be installed or they are attempting this.

Also, I loved hearing you talk about seeing the Opera. I did see Phantom of the Opera in Seattle probably 20 years ago. My favorite show recently was the San Francisco Ballet. Living in rural Idaho, we don't get much here, but easy to travel to the big city.

Mags, YEEHA, 10 more days and you are a free women. I hated the pill in the beginning ( Arimidex ) but I am used to it now. It's been excatly one year on the AI. Wow, time does fly.

Jwow, glad you are home. Post when you can. Hope your DB is making peace with this. Time does heal, but it could be slow.

    HOOTIE hoo PattyP......headaches easing?

    Blondie, lurking.....hello.....

Before we moved back to Alaska in 1957, my dad promised I could get a scooter. He hadn't been back to Fairbanks for over 12 years. When he saw how much the town had grown, he talked me into getting a sewing machine. All these years later, I still have my Singer 401A.... Best deal I ever got! That sewing machine has made airplane engine and wing covers, recovered airplane seats, recovered an Eddie Bauer parka, made all of my daughters clothes till she was in about 3rd grade, made all of my sons clothes until he was in school, made most of my blouses, some of my slacks, drapes, seat covers for various chairs, down jackets for the family (what a mess working with down), a couple of formal dresses, and many many other items. I finally got my Honda Trail 90 in 1963 - I enjoyed it but not nearly as much as I've enjoyed my Singer....

We now have a ramp on our front porch. I use my cane all the time now plus I have a walker and a small scooter so the ramp was much needed. It's getting close to my 4th year from diagnosis. Been a little blue lately but I try to look at the bright side. Phtt

    Sas, I forgave him.

My dream dog is a German Shepard! We had a GS/Lab mix when I was real small. Snoopy was the greatest and most protective dog in the world, never bit anyone because he was so well trained. My mom could put me down for a nap on a blanket in the summer on our living room floor and he would come over and lay down next to me. Mom would tell him not to let anyone touch me while I was napping. If someone came in and touched me while he was there, he would growl at them until Mom told him it was okay and then he would stop.

Ah Geez! No damnit! We did NOT take care of our "new gal!"

Okay, so Hi and WELCOME Ibgal! That was so nice that you posted over here! Good advice! I love when we get people on here who know what they are talking about...

That is exactly what happened to my Daughter's friend.... when she finally thought she would give Chemo a try, it was way too late! She put all their faith and money into that trip to go see that John of God guy...

Didn't work at all.... She was gone within 2 weeks of starting chemo... I just believe she COULD have had a chance, if she hadn't wasted 2 months after her surgery.....

Yes, I read about Steve Jobs... but I DIDN'T know there were different types of Pancreatic cancer!

You are stage lV? But you sound like you have a great attitude, and I am with you 100% !!!

I don't know much about anything, except I DO have experience on my side. That means I am "older" so I've been there..... done that!

I love your attitude.... Hope to see you here lots more...

We don't always' talk about cancer, especially me, but when I DO, I am awesome!

    Trying to catch up.

Oh Blessings I'm sorry all this has happened, how awful for u ad u'r brain. But hat wouldn't get u out of jury duty, after all they took me--so that bar is very low.

Chevy I do know what kegels are haha or is it Kugella (a potatoe dish) well either way I can make them both. And no u don't need extra bending , haven't u notice u'r customers have seeing eye dogs, or they wouldn't be u'r customer--Mine can still see, oh yea some have cateracts but no dog.

Oh ladies u all look beautiful in u' picture and 2 of u look comfortable with shorts on, while one looks totally out o place (no names mentioned)

Ih Cammi, I tried to get Ms No Name to dress for the weather, but noooooooo, she wouldn't lusten.

So the beagle won. She is related to Uno, who won BIS a few years ago. In all the years I showed my Aussie, I never ever wanted to go in the confirmation ring. He had the potential, I couldn't stand the people. I'd never heard such vicious remarks. The people in obedience and agility, entirely different, and nice!!!!

About BCs, I think their parent club doesn't want to be in AKC. There is a huge split with the Coton de Tulare people, some don't want any part of AKC. They were there, small white dogs, similar to Maltese.

Ok, enough dog school for today

Hi ladies- off to another networking event and this week seems to be the big week for work opps! Looking to close in on one and get going on a new gig soon!

Mags- I am on anastrazole and can be here for your as you start. It was an adjustment for me at first, but better with time. There is also an arimidex thread (the brand name for this med) you can join and lots of good info there. Be sure you have your bone density checked regularly. They should do a baseline before you start.

Wishing you the best as you finish the rads, I know you will be so glad when this is over, especially with the shoulder issues.

I saw the beagle, Miss P, won and she is on the Today Show this morning. She is adorable. I am personally a fan of golden retrievers (don't have one, but my sister does and love her to pieces!) They are probably too spastic and goofy to ever win a dog show though!

Chevy- if you like a good biography, read Steve Jobs book. I learned about his cancer treatment through that book. They found the pancreatic cancer early doing a scan for another problem he was having. He was a hard core vegetarian and very convinced alternative would heal him. The book is very interesting beyond that, if you ever want to know about how the personal computer was born!

    Wishing everyone a good day.

OK A little better with cathing up.

first of all if u want to figure out a murphy bed, or any other bed ask Chevy--She's done a lot with beds also, poles being her first love.

Hi IBgal--I certainly am not anytype of dr. but I totally agree with u for MAMMARAY--This is a very difficult time and I do think alternative methods can be a great help with regular protocol. I remember so well A lady that I worked with told me don't let them take u'r breasts and talk u into all this poison and she had all of her chemo but had a lumpectomy even tho they wanted to take everything. And was advised to hve a full deboobing and didn't take rads and she had other plans and did well for about 2 yrs,--felt much better than I did, but she passed away it was just to late for all the right things to do. Please know I'm not saying anything for any decision just stating what I know. And actually I wasn't given a decision I just said do whatever u have to and they did. And I do know women who have done all the Drs. wanted and alternative things and feel better than I. So IMPO I'd go for both. But whatever decision u make it will be the one u want and that's fine if u really want it.

Oh I watched some of the shows for the dogs and they were all so cute. I don't know how they can only pick one--I was watching how they groom them and get them ready so cute.

No snow here but incredibly cold--with all this wind chil which they never had when I was younger and it never seemed this cold, it's that damn wind chill that does it.

That quilt looked so pretty but u'r grandson was more handsome.

Oh the other day I must have looked sad Joey came home and he closed my door and said what's wrong and I told him I was fine. And he said u can't fool me, and then said u know u can talk to me about anything and I'll do whatever I can do to make u feel better--, and of course I said are u really only 10?

Oh well, my job has slowed down, usually there are lots of furnace things going on now but not much is going on--fine by me, but not for my boss, but I look at the daily calendar and I see jobs on there so right now it's OK. Soon I'll have the 2 phones with more work, so that should be interesting for me anyway, cuz I can barely answer one without screwing up the name, now I'll have 2 names to screw up. Lucky me.

I hope u all have a decent day.

Cami- Joey is an "old soul". I realized that from all you have shared about him through your messages everywhere. I am so glad you have him. You both benefit so much from the special relationship you have. What a blessing!

Holenone- well I talked to my daughter about the murphy bed and she really wants white, this bed unit is kind of a white washed grey color. So I didn't get it and the search continues. It was the nicest Murphy bed on craigs list I have ever seen. Oh well. I would like to get one where I can have the company reinstall it, paid for of course. It just seems dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.. couldfall and hit your head- pull out of the wall. etc.. My Aunt has one and it's really comfy! Great space saver.

Glad someone likes Opera.. or Classical or early music. I have gotten used to being odd man/woman out.. I remember laying in the dark listening to my cd player (before Ipods).. and my roommate says in the dark... "there is only one kind of music I can't stand.. opera." Sigh... so I turned it off. She had good hearing. I shared an apartment with 3 other girls on campus, kept my musical tastes secret! I really like everything except fusion jazz, hard core country and rap.

Why does life have to be so difficult?? I have been trying to get fasting labs on my kid for a week. So we told the dorm staff no eating, we would pick her up 7:30 Wed. I drive from the South side of town to the North and go to get her this morning and she had eaten. WTH?? I looked at her and said why did you eat? Shrugged shoulders... 'What about DO NOT EAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?" I am so frustrated I could scream. This should not be hard and it seems insurmountable! ACKKKKK. I told my DH, your turn.. I'm done. I knew today would be a bad day and ... so far it has been. It will bottom out this afternoon for sure. sigh....

Spookie- you are right about agility folks being nicer and relaxed with their dogs. The ring folks are weird! It's a culture that I just don't get. So much for the poodle being a favorite. Momof2- GS scare me I was chased by 2 as a kid and that did it. I knew someone who had a Belgian mel... sp? long haired smaller sheppard looking dog that had a great personality. Sounds like the one you grew up with was loving and protective of you.

Howdies to everyone! Keep up the banter Chevy and Cami-love it.

  • Hi Rosevalley, sorry about your daughter, so frustrating! After all the things we have to do, it seems so small. Maybe your DH will get her to do it. And if not, I guess it's on her. The transition from young to responsible adult can be a long road.

But on a better note, I live near Blossom Music Center, the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra. I love to go and sit on the hill under the stars and listen to them play. I used to have season tickets for the lawn, and would go to every concert. I also have them on my iPod with all of my macro and micro lectures from school. It's probably the most boring iPod ever! But I also have Top Gun, I listen to it when I walk. But I love music, just about everything but rap.

I do hope your day gets better!

Well, Rose, I for one am in your corner on opera and classical. I have very eclectic taste in music. I also love a lot of jazz, folk music, 60's rock n roll, Celtic, Christian music, and most everything else except rap. That said, I do not love all of any genre. But I have almost 2,000 songs on my iPhone, and even more in my iTunes library on the computer.

My all time favorite composer is Chopin, and that's what I'm mostly listening to these days. I found a new pianist I like, a young South American woman (Brazilian or Argentinian) named Ingrid Fliter, and I love her styling.

For opera, my favorites are Puccini and Verdi. I watched the filming of a production of Madama Butterfly in Japan when I was 6, and it was also my dad's favorite. And La Traviata. There was a movie of that with Teresa Stratas and Placido Domingo, beautifully done. Zeffirelli directed it.

Anyway, just know you're not alone, Rose.

Thanks, Jazzy. I won't start til after rads is over in case I have bone pain. Doc didn't want to add to my shoulder pain.

Beachbum- Oh I love evening concerts! Lucky you to live close and be able to enjoy stars and classical music! I hope my day gets better too. My DH said he would do next go around with DD. We have a med we need to start and can't without the fasting labs... frustrating.

I just saw Mags post! Yay! Love to hear you like Classical and Opera! There were lots of parents and kids at Carmen and the house was packed. So I know there are more of us out there! My one roommate in school told me she would be up on assault charges if I listened to my Claude Bolling and Jean Pierre Rampal albums one more time.. hahaha I really had a OCD thing for Claude Bolling. I look at my Ipod and there is such a range- jazz, classical, piano sonatas, early music, opera arias, blues (lots of blues), folk songs, international (Nigerian JuJu music, N African, African folksongs, Indian, Vietnamese classical music) Buddhist prayers, Thich Nhat Hahn pod casts.. meditations, Gospel (mostly all black gospel)... a little bit of everything. It's all good!

May everyone have a good day- stay warm ya'll in the middle and N East of the country.

  • Rosevalley, I wish I lived in Oregon, it is so cold here! Freaky cold, the Lake is almost solid with dense ice coverage, but not much snow. Our forecast is -1 tonight, and -8 tomorrow night. And that is before they add in the wind chill! They say we are going to break the record of -20 with a possible -35!! Holy cow that is cold!

I hope you get your DD to those labs, with or without duck taping her to a chair for the night. Fun fact - Avon Ohio is the international head quarters for Duck Tape! We have a Duck Tape Festival every summer, and everything is made from tape. They also sponsor a scholarship for high school couples to enter if they wear Duck Tape fashions to their prom. It is absolutely amazing the dresses, suits, and the parade floats that are made from tape. I go every year, it's too fun! But will definitely make you smile! And a fantastic opportunity for high school seniors to score some serious cash for school. The details are all online if you know anyone that could enter.
