All I see is ICE! Pretty but so cold today. High of 9 degrees.

You know I was born in Indiana and spent my first 6 years there. I remember my border collie Mitsy standing eye to eye looking at me through my bedroom window! The snow was that high (one level ranch). She could run right over the backyard fence on top of the snow..had a tunnel into her dog house! (she slept in the garage). Then 5 years in upstate NY, Rochester... sledding playing until our fingers were red and numb!I remember my brother pushing his sled out the 2nd story window onto the garage roof sledding down into the soft snow in the backyard! My Mom freaked when she figured out why the runners on the window were bent and there was snow on the carpet up the stairs! "You could break your neck!" We lived! I lived on the East coast until I turned 30- then the West Coast transfer. I watch the news each night and feel for you folks. I know the Midwest and New England areas are so beautiful but Winter can be so HARSH. I have shoveled snow and moved groceries through snow tunnels to get to the front door- makes you feel like a mouse weaving through a maze! I distinctly remember the ice storms that coated the trees and then the winter morning sun turning the entire landscape into a prism of sparkly light and twinkles- stunning. Stay warm. Be safe driving.

Is it date night? Is Survivor on TV? Did someone break the internet? Where is everyone ?

Frozen? Like you're wearing a parka, stocking cap, a flannel shirt, cuddleduds, leggings, and boots with battery-powered heated socks? Or you're watching a kids movie?

I feel like I'm up north. It's about 50 outside, I'm dressed warmly enough, the heater isn't throwing enough heat and I'm shivering. Spookie and I are going to bed soon with the electric blanket.
Where's a hot flash when you need one?????

I have 3 cats that help keep me warm. Keep warm and rest well.

what's cuddleduds

Apparently my spelling could use improvement.

What?? 50 degrees, like that would be a heat wave for me right now. It is the second coldest February on record. But Saturday is a heat wave maybe 36! If it stays this cold I am going to upgrade my electric blanket to the 220 volt.

Hey MammaRay, no wonder everyone leaves Ohio for sunny Florida. This is the worst, but last winter all the snow and cold was probably worse than this year. I hope you are having a nice and warm weekend. No worries here, I am out of memory from chemo brain, and I am dragging my butt. Two more weeks of rads, and I hope a big break. I have been doing my cancer marathon since last June 9th, and I am so tired. But mostly just tired of cancer.

Hey MammaRay, if I were you I would find a way to move where the sun shines. We know where it doesn't! Rads are going really well so far. I finished #19 today. I put Aloe Gel on 5 times a day, and Aquaphor on at night. It's more tanned than red, but the armpit is getting red. So not bad so far. I am on the down side of 28. Thanks for asking!
The thing that is making me crazy is wanting to get back to work. I am so bored, I can't stand it. I am going to start looking as soon as I finish rads. I have a couple lines on things so shouldn't be a problem to get it together. This cancer crap certainly slows down things.
I did want to ask you, how the reconstruction worked out for you. I am leaning towards not doing it, not sure if it is worth it to me. But I am single and 58. But I am also buried in bills from treatment. Thanks!

Rose - wanted to chime in quite belatedly and out myself as yet another lover of classical music, including opera. I'm having a hard time enjoying classical music right now as it a) tends to link up with emotional undercurrents that I'm trying hard to keep under control and b) makes me wonder if I'll ever get back to some of my favorite musical sites again. But I do love it and opera seems to be one form I can enjoy at this point without danger of falling apart. Come by my place and we'll turn it way up and you can sing along.
I listen to a lot of jazz, some folk/bluegrass, some new age/world music. Hate rap - I don't consider it music. Kind of like 'classic' country but would never buy it.

Smarrty, thanks for asking the ? About cuddle duds....I also have never heard of them, but it's a brand for fleece leggings or winter wear....I think, looked at the website for a second. I saw your itinerary for Ireland trip on the Warm & Fuzzy thread......SO exciting, sounds very close to the tour I took 11 years ago. I loved every minute of it.
Spookie, brrrrr......we got up to 60 yesterday, probably set a high record for Feb. today 35 mile hour winds.... High on Sunday 38 degrees, closer to normal. Turtlenecks ( I cannot put them on now with my bum wing ), layers of fleece, vests & down jackets. Nov. 1st- mid March. Winters in Idaho.... Love it & sometimes hate it. I do enjoy the seasons. Growing up in S. Ca, did not get that.
BeachBum, love your handle....you were dx exactly one year after me, which is my DD birthday. I finished rads about one year ago. They seemed easy compared to A/C but that last week fried my nipple. Ouch, healing was sore & then itchy......I remember day dreaming about being healthy, doing things, going places. I kinda hit the wall at the end of rads. All these wonderful ladies on INSOMNIACS kept me going, with stories & silliness. Sharing stories about childhood. I found a place to be me & honest. Hard to pretend 24/7 that we are ok, handling the reality of our new lives......
BB soon, IPAD is slow.....

Hi Holeinone, Thanks! Living on the shore of Lake Erie, it's the only beach I have and I love to walk the beach and take pictures. Rads are going well, just a bit toasty, so I hope to make it through without a lot of problems. Then who knows what is next. The MO wants me back to chemo, but I am trying to hold that off for after the summer. I missed all last summer when I felt good, so I really want to have this summer. It is really important to me this year. The water and the beach is my happy place, I can swim and walk and find treasure. I'm sure some people would call it trash
But I find my sanity there as well. So after going through the beginning tests etc., then chemo, surgery and now rads I am pretty ragged out and the break would serve me well. It would be nice to find my center, and balance my life.Stay warm, and have a great weekend!

That's so nice you gals talk to each other like that! And yeah, don't pay no attention to anyone whining about the 50 degree weather! They don't know what cold IS! I just checked... It is 45 In Dunedin NOW, whereas it is 31.5 HERE in Denver, and snowing up a storm!
Supposed to get maybe another foot or two... but WE are tough... we don't hunker-down and cuddle up when the temps fall below 60.... Ha!
See, this cold weather helps preserve us! That's why we look and feel so much younger, and are smarter, and faster.... We endure extremes, and love to go out sloshing around in the arctic tundra out there!
Took my DD to lunch yesterday for her Birthday to Red Robin! We love that place! She is now 54, but still "my little one".... And then she met a friend and went to see that porno move 50 Shades, and she called and was laughing! I had read 2 of the books, and just didn't think I would want to go with MY DAUGHTER! Ha!
She got a kick out of the part where Christian "flogs" her with that whip! I would have turned around and beat the chit out of him! I mean, is that "fun?" Would remind me too much of when me and my Brother got those spankings when we were kids! I DID like the first book though, but after awhile, you start flipping through the pages, like "oh no, here we go again.... good lord, take a break!"

It's about THEN that I would beat feet OUTA' there!

Beach and Momma, don't listen to that frozen person from Colorado!!!!!!'what she didn't say was that last year she was going to her pole in the alley for a dance, in her 5 inch heels, and tripped on an ice berg and broke her hip!!!! Ya know how those pot smoking Colorado people are!!!!
The nicest thing I can say about Ohio is is a great place to be FROM!!! I won't even go back to visit.

Are you still freezing?

Hello Owlies, got home yesterday from Tampa. Great visit with Spookie and DS&GF. When I got there Wed. I parked the car and just sat. Searched my mind for what I was feeling. The word 'harrowing' came forward. Those people drive crazy and made the mistake of allowing myself to drive into a setting sun. Cars barreling down the road. Sun so bright, I couldn't see exit signs OR brake lights. Then the last stretch was on a road that was quite curvy. The sun would blast through the shade of the buildings. The road would disappear.
Then the next day Spookie and I talked and talked. Didn't watch the time. Headed home to DS's in the sun again at rush hour. Sometimes I have to get smacked upside the head to pay attention.
Saw BigWig doc. I adore him. He answered all my questions. Everything I needed answered since Sept. that the other docs said they didn't know. I appreciate that honesty in a doc. Also, I couldn't find the answers on the net.
US shows a suspicious node. Wasn't considered a stat. I'll be back there for a bx when the arrangements are made. In Dec I had an US locally, told them Moffitt counts lymphnodes. Local place said "We don't do that" Amazing the difference between the reports. Night and day.
I give DS the lawyer copies of these reports where the difference in quality of reporting is put into a newbie lawyer teaching file.
Bladder FISH report negative. Have already seen GYN doc and had tests waiting for results. Always sumpin.
So, no more local stuff for neck. Moffitt only. But the driving OH my. An Approach/Avoidance scenario.
Nice to be home in my comfy place.

Golf Girl, Hey,
GLASS. so love it. Your glass can be one of three patterns. If you could flip them right side up, I need to see the base. Possibles. Imperial -Candlewick. Anchor Hocking Berwick Boopie, or Anchor Hocking Inspiration. Was googling to find pics. Found an Ebay page that has The Boopie and Candlewick on the same page. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=imperial+glass+candlewick+sherbet&tbm=shop
RC.com AH Boopie page
http://www.replacements.com/webquote/AHCBOO.htm
RC.co AH Inspiration page refers us too Burple. I will need to get and Inspiration page elsewhere. If you look at the drawing of the Burple you will see that it has the same little balls around the base, but the defining difference between Candlewick and I/B/B is the teardrop balls that cascade from the bowl over the stem to the base.
Burple and Boopie , and Inspiration are so close. That if you were collecting for personal use, you could intermix and only another glass person would know. Not even glass people can tell.
I have a set of 8 of the Inspiration/ Boopie/Burple(whatever LOL). After I bought them years ago, started doing Luigi's Lemon Ice between salad and entrée. I'd put the sherbert glass on an Wexford bread plate or white little plate depending on color scheme and china choice. The spoons would be these little silver Newbridge Celtic (thrifted). It is all so cute.
These are the exact ones I have. With the Inspiration you can see the bowl is different than the candlewick. But again if you look at the base The difference of the Burple/ Boopie/ Inspiration are sssoooo close.
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=anchor+hocking+forest+green+inspiration&tbm=shop
This is Newbridge Celtic Pattern The prices are to the left. I thrifted a set of the little teaspoons and desert forks with a bunch of other silver for 15$. ALL black, cleaned up beautifully with a little Wright's silver polish.. It was a way over 100$, but forget how much.
https://www.newbridgesilverware.com/cutlery/luxury/celtic
The newbridge site is listing the pieces at 13 & 16 $ each. I got six of each in that junk box as I said above. Love thrift bargains
I fell in love with the Newbridge Cletic pattern and bought a silverplate service for 12 off the internet for DS. I'm using it till he's ready. Were Irish.

well ladies, I'm off to a quilting class. Might show you depending on how it turns out. Been cold here too. Around 40s. I think it rained last night, everything is wet. But it's pretty foggy right now. Hate the fog.
Don't think I could wear fleece all day long, run too hot. Nice to know in case I need to go to snow country. Never!

Good morning insomniacs. I read through all the fun stuff you have been up to and wishing you a good saturday. I am going to go play some jazz this morning with my friends.
About the weather, here in NM we have the opposite of what is going on back east, too warm and dry for February. So Mammaray is right about things being much colder, but that seems to be on the east coast. The polar vortex is hitting there endless with very cold temps and too much precip. Meanwhile, here in the southwest, is unusually warm for Feb with temps in the upper 60s most day. That is more like April here. We are high desert here so so we get the seasons and winter. Places in the low desert like southern NM, Phoenix, Tuscon are all much warmer too (well into the 80s). This may mean we are going to have a very hot and dry summer, and will be at bad risk for huge wildfires again. We have seen this pattern before and know what it can mean for us a few months from now.
