Spookie- that is warm! It is nice here today and going to hit the low 70s (yay!)

Just read this article on cold cap treatment to avoid hair loss during chemo. I have heard of it, but did not know much about it and thought I would share here in case anyone is interested. Sounds like it is not covered by insurance, but I like what the woman says about keeping her cancer private. I kept mine very private for professional reasons (self employed), but only had surgery and rads which is not visible to the world. I would consider this in the future if I ever needed to have chemo.

There is a thread here about it. I've seen others mention it in passing, sounds expensive! I wouldn't do it, but guess it's a good option. I've also heard if you ice your hands during certain chemo, you won't loose your nails. THAT was an awful SE for me!

Spookie- loosing your nails? Wow, that is awful. Did they grow back?

Hellooooooooo Owlies, cleaning house most of day(Di was here) and then to counselors, shortly out to dinner. I cleaned out Ds's room 85% done. He's 30. May think I'm a bad mom, but I even threw out his five y/o plaster hand (it was broken a bit). Now I'm feeling the guilt, I have until Friday to go trash picking.

The cold cap thread here is one of the most active on BCO. I linked to the last page.

Mamma L&H&P's. Great a childrens hospital close. Which one is it? Love children's hospitals. You have all the specialties covered for whatever the need. Very different than community hospitals. Community hospitals have very limited resources for kids. Very limited knowledge base. YAY for kids hospitals. YIPEYIPPEEYIPPEe. I'm fairly, in favor of kids hospitals. Resources out the wahzoo. Always up on all the latest and greatest. If they haven't got it, they know who does.

Smarrty and Enerva---if changing the trip to last week of April or first week of May helps just let me know. Weather for both those weeks historically good. This weather change in America may mess with things a bit. Smarrty the link I sent you Re:Rocket quilters--try and call them. I know they are very active, they are in the local news all the time. I think they have a permanent display someplace? LOL probably in the local museum that I've never been too.

Spookie, Love the pics. Thought I had a bingo on one. Probably a dumb question---can you take say about 20 pics and the phone retains them. I'm thinking if I tell you what shots to take and I can locate someone that will give an opinion as to maker and if it's ABC. Plus, you need to inventory how many pieces are the same pattern. The value in what you have is multiple pieces in the same pattern. Unusual. I keep discounting that I know they are ABC-----Have too. But they are :) I almost choked when you showed me. Then as I went through each piece and picked up that many were the same pattern. It was truly an OMD moment. I know they are inherited, but if DD doesn't want them and you think them dust catchers. Hey, it could be a couple thousand dollars or more. Even more b/c of so many in one pattern. It could be a Sotheby's/ Christie's moment. Wouldn't that be fun :) I may have stuff-----nothing comes close to your collection of dust collectors. Nada. I'm so happy for you----you can make a choice to keep or sell, but knowing you have a quick source of money if you need it. Priceless.

Chevy, good dog, I so thought you would catch my play on your words i.e. which I liked, which were omitted. Girl you fell off your pole or sumpin?

PATTY, yes the SUN. Hope it was BEAUTIFUL for you. Let the sun Shine in-----------

Off to late dinner-----with DBF--------this is the greatest breakup----LOL.

Jazz, I lost EVERY nail. Toes too. Was a severe allergic reaction to Taxotere. They all came back. Trying to scratch an itch was.........interesting.

Sas, DD just says not to get rid of it. She wants it, appreciates its old, inherited, etc. has NO place for it now. I won't give it to her till the boys are MUCH older. Like 30.

Can't mention potential value around Eyeore either. He'd want me to sell and put new toilet in. Um, not happen in'.

Sas, some time during the year here there is a glass show. Can't remember where or when. Usually sellers, may be appraisers there, never went. I tried last nite to look at future calendars where I thought might be, nothing listed, yet. Our paper lists events like that, if/when I see it I'll call, you can come for the weekend.

What pics do you want? Will pm

Spookie, 11 pieces in a pattern, HUGE. Several thoughts. Life isn't easy. There comes a time when if you can make life easier--do it. DD says no, I want them. But DD has her life to live.  Gift her the pieces that are not the same pattern. The individual pieces may have great value--dunno. I'm saying with a HUGE voice The collection is a  BIG deal...and needs to have a verification of maker. Museums could be fighting over the collection. At least work through the process and find out value. Once value is known then you can decide what to do.

Not joking, or cajoling..........Think seriously about valuation of the collection
Anyone offering you x amount for the group--------------seriously Sotheby's or Chritis's

Don't take anyone's first offer. Your reaction may be that Sotheby's/ Christis;s aren't interested... work it girl

Or, just sit back and enjoy LOL. Krips, I get so intense PITA

Teka----------this breakup is much more fun than the other break ups. The others weren't fun. This ones fun. I'm being courted now. He has no clue that's what's happening. I 'll just see where it goes and how it goes, and if it fits my needs-------meow.

  • Sassy, sounds like you are having fun this time, as long as you don't have to do his laundry it's a win!

aw, Hi1, aren't you sweet! Can't keep up with y'all and how fast this thread moves.

Family drama for me lately. Home life not great, ran away last week to Dads to get financial/legal stuff done for my parents, Dad here a couple to go to local businesses. Got to meet DD for a fro-yo while in her area. Crashed on the weekend (some dry, hot winds caused allergy flare/migraines. Call on Sunday Mom taken to ER due to blocked feeding tube, then Dad and I met with paralegal, trip to Social Security office (an experience I could have lived without, lots of crazy people), more running around. Came home to craziness. Went to a Breast cancer dinner last night where 3 of my medical team presented (BS, MO, PT, E-I-E-I-O); topic was breast cancer myths. Nice long phone call with Blessings yesterday, she's been busy.

Good news: DD got accepted to nursing program! She applied to about 20 in the area, so it'd be nice if there were more acceptances to offer her a choice, but she's happy with this one. One huge worry (stress) gone.

Arrrgh! This binder is killing me! Can not sleep!

  • ksusan, just remember we are all going to be cancer treatment survivors!! I'm wrapped in stretchy fishnet with goop and thick pads all over to protect my rad burns, that sucks too. One more to go. Then I hope a break. Feel better, I do feel pain, yours, mine, a lot of pain. I hope you get some sleep!

Hi gals! Rosie, I completely missed what you said about your thinking on my post about all the Dinks in Washington! You are soooooo right! I agree with everything you said... Just wish this country could get along with each other, before trying their hand at going to war for other countries problems.

I mean if both of our parties can't EVER agree on anything, and do things just to PO the other party, how can the "people" meaning us, ever hope to have an intelligent run government, with people agreeing with each other? And making decisions for US... the PEOPLE???

Okay....Let's ask Cammi about this one... SHE worked for the government.... she said.... I think she is dis-gruntled too... she keeps writing them letters. And Cam! You completely missed the last few pages about Sass and her .... let's see.... how can I put this?...... She has had a tiff with her buddy friend there.... This called for another heave-ho of sorts, which means this guy of hers is temporarily loose on foot..... but not before he did his manly duties..... ummmm...... like taking out the trash, fixing the catalytic converter on the car, and THEN her! He then proceeded to wash clothes, or cook dinner, all the while moving out.... more or less.

THEN he takes her out to dinner yet AGAIN, and probably whines and moans about leaving his kleenex pack over there, and has to make arrangements to pick it up.... which he will within the next day or so.

And now she is having fun again, even though they are parted.... and romping in the clouds and rolling around heaven all day.

Beaches.... I think he is doing HER laundry... that's why she is elated. "He fixes stuff"..... WATCH.... he will have his own key again soon.... if he doesn't already... to pick up his pack of kleenex.

Morning Owlies, Another day closer to Spring YAY.

Beachie, LOL I don't do his laundry, but one of the new rules is he can't use the machine with any mastic on his clothes. Your almost across the finish line. Sorry you are gooped up.

ksusan lots of pillows. Couch pillows are a good base with softer pillows on top. Hugs, time will heal.

About time Chevy, wondered where you were. Okay, yeah, heaven rolling.   :)    Oddly, he never had a key. Used the keypad on the garage door. But the garage door is broke. So, Monday when we were establishing rules for the breakup, he asks for a key. What? Why? Again, I'm warped b/c his answer was, to me, hysterical. My answer was no after I stopped laughing. Cami's right. He and I are connected. No idea how it will be and that's okay. Talked with my counselor Gary last evening about the whole scenario. We were both laughing so much, good dog, and I had the most delicious chocolate cookie. His secretary is an amazing cook.

His secretary makes deserts for all occasions. Gary's office is right by the counter. The deserts are shared with clients. But there was only one cookie left. Toll House recipe, super loaded with chocolate chips . Gary was using the facilities. My dilemma, do I take the last cookie. Finally, I decided yes. Savored every morsel. We laughed over that for a couple of minutes.

Science research project: One cookie on the plate----what does the lone unattended person do? Candid camera. Could be very funny observing the behavior.

To sneak back in.... that's why. This is just a "phase" you two are going through..... he knows it isn't anything serious... just a minor kerfuffle.... And NOW he has another excuse to "stay".... you say your garage door is broke? I think HE did it.... he needs little excuses.... Next, he will say your sprinkler system has a minor issue.... I know these guys....

Make him take his own damn clothes to a LAUNDROMAT to wash his things with that stuff on them!

  • sas-schatzi
    sas-schatzi Posts: 15,889

Well, yeah, that was very close to his explanation regarding the key, but it was "so know one thinks he's _____in" Forget exact word b/c I started laughing.

2nd time- so sorry things are hard for you at home and also with your aging parents. I know the later only too well from times before, as you and I have discussed. I am glad to hear you got to spend time with DD and that she got into the nursing program! Yay! Some good news in the midst of the rest! Hugs to you sister.

Taking a break and going up to Santa Fe today. Have a good day friends!

Spookie, Straight over the top of the compotes. The last shots were at an angle. Then the stems. Then lay them on their side and take a shot of the bottom of the base. Sounds weird, but that's the pontil. Pontils can be big in identification. In a very finished piece the number of cuts is predictable from maker to maker. Good Re: Pm b/c I can pull them up easier when I feel like searching. But do post the straight on shots here too :) The world will never see the beauty of ABC glass again. EVER. It's almost a century since it was last done. No country has ever been able to duplicate what was done for a relatively short time about 80 years, with about 30 years being the most important. That link on ABC glass has the full story. It was a convergence of several things. The exceptional silca -dirt LOL. The use of natural gas versus coal to fire the furnaces. Exceptional cutting equipment. The assembly line approach that allowed for increased production. Unparalleled designers and workers.

Prisms in sunlight can catch the universe :)

sassy, won't be able to come out. Found out last night that my DIL's dad has stage 4 bone cancer. She will need to fly out to AL a couple of times. So I'll help with Gkids, dogs and house as needed. Sorry. Maybe next year.

2nd. Sorry for your folks and you. Hope things get better. Glad your DD got accepted, not easy to get into any nursing programs.

chevy, "heaven rolling"? really??? how about hay rolling?

I feel bad for you ladies that are feeling bad. That was so erudite! Most times I have better words. Hahahah, okay maybe not. Anyway, I hate that you're feeling bad.

2nd, I'm sorry that you are being draumatized. I've heard that can be very wearing and result in frazzled nerve endings that require special treatment with the vice of your choice.

So far no issue at all with skin at rads site. Hallelujah!

I'm feeling good so I'll just skip on out and see if I can find anyone to irritate.

WHAT was that word Phyllisoundingallnormal???? "Erudite?????" We don't even know what that means, and neither do you. I'm just glad you are feeling better.... then I can tease you more without being afraid of Big Alice.....

And you said "draumatized" instead of Traumatized to 222222222ns...! That was perfect! Just thought I would point that out....

And you can "skip"????? I'll have to try that.... !
