PEPPERMINT!!!!!!!!!! Wait..... WHAT did you say???? What did I miss? Are you in some kind of danger, and from WHOM???? What is going on there? Where do you live? In some kind of war zone?

What am I missing here? I just hate to think you need GUNS for anything..... unless you mean THESE guns....

I had some insomnia last night as I fell asleep TOO early and then woke up around midnight and watched "Mommy Dearest" on TV for a few hours.

Saw this today and thought it was funny, how many of us do this?

Yes. Count me in. I had to move the clock where I couldn't see it to stop doing this.

Chevy, he is soooooooooooo cute. So funny that the owner wears gloves for contact. You can tell he is well loved. Thank God, that our kids weren't the same. Hmmmmm wonder when they develop the spines. Must be later. Can you imagine a litter with all of them having spines in the first few weeks... yikes,,,,no the spines couldn't be solid ....... they would have killed themselves off long ago LOL.

Thifted this within last 2 months---forget price. Three pieces different stores. Duncan Miller Teardrop torte plate.  1936--1956. What's special about this pattern is the clear glass with the named teardrops. Difficult to do. I have only learned of recent 6 months that clear glass with a pattern is of more value. Rc has it around 32$. Not high money like Spookie's ABC, but lovely piece. I'm going to gift it with the other two pieces to Dear Cousins daughter.

Dear cousin is so hooked on thrifting now, she's dragging DH. LOL She goes on and on about her finds---such fun

I'm seeing more unusual things come into the thrift market. To see things that go back to the 30-40's was once common. Then more common was the 50's through the 80's. But this pattern and the Miss America pattern by Hocking which go back into the 30's--I'm clueless. Their beauty? Can are youngers be so drawn into Target and Walmart...... they see nothing and caste off their parents and grands stuff.

AH- Miss America---sparkling pattern, so fun

  • Hi all,

You gals are hilarious. I'm having a lot of fun reading in this thread. That ornamental pear tree is stunning!! We moved the week I got diagnosed, so our yard is lacking this year. (my husband is a botanist so this will soon change) We took a chance and transplanted a rather large oriental maple from our old house. My husband gave it to me 21 years ago on our first anniversary. We were sure it would survive, but the buds are swelling, so we know it's going to leaf out after all. I'm pretty happy. Hubby planted a strawberry patch this week. So looking forward to spring.

I'm half done with rads. Oh! I got to have a massage today!! Best day I've had in a long time. (dreamy sigh)

My husband and I were given a trip to Hawaii. We finally feel like we can begin to make plans. Anyone have a favorite island? Favorite hotel? Favorite beaches or attractions? We are leaning towards Kauai, but we are still gathering info and advice.

  • I'm a serious cybertard. Embarrassed to ask, but how are you gals posting pictures and such in here? I know how on facebook but I seem to be stumped trying it here. Help? Since some of you were excited about a chicken salad, I thought I would put a picture and recipe for another that sounds yummy, but.....Well, here is a copy of the recipe anyway.

    Southwestern Chopped Salad
Large head of Romaine 15 oz.
1 can of black beans, rinsed and drained
    1 large orange bell pepper
    1 pint cherry tomatoes
2 cups corn (fresh or frozen, thawed)
    5 green onions
    Optional: avocado

    {Dressing}
1 cup loosely packed cilantro, stems removed and roughly chopped
1/2 avocado (or 1/2 cup plain vegan yogurt or Greek yogurt)
2 Tbsp. fresh lime juice (about 1/2 lime), more to taste
    1-2 garlic cloves
    1/4 cup olive oil
1 1/2 tsp. white wine vinegar
    1/8 tsp. salt

    {Instructions}
Making the dressing: puree all ingredients in a food processor/blender until smooth. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.

Making the salad: Finely chop romaine, bell pepper, tomatoes, and green onions.Place all ingredients in a large bowl and stir to combine.Toss with desired dressing.

    Can't wait to try this.

  • Guilty pleasure of the day: homemade fried cod and homemade onion rings for dinner.

Good question, what's up with the guns?

  • I'm on a laptop. Don't have anything else. Maybe that's why? I'll have to get my brainy son to help me figure out the posting pictures thing perhaps.

Morning gals! Mombie, that salad sounds GOOD! That chicken-strawberry-walnut-mixed greens-hard boiled egg salad was good also! I just put about a teaspoon of Ranch on top... and left the rest dressing-less.... Ha! DD coming over today for lunch, so we'll have that.

You guys, this was on MSN this morning, when I turned on my computer... it is interesting!

    http://www.menshealth.com/best-life/6-pains-worse-...

Mombie, I haven't a clue how to post pictures from your lap-top... But see the little square at the top of this box? If you click on that, it will search through your stored images you have saved, and then when you see one you want to post, "open" it, and it will magically appear on HERE..!

And SOME of these gals even past screen shots from their PHONES ??? on here.... I think... ??? Like Spookie with the never-changing 80 degree weather from.... heaven!

MombieZombie- yay for a free Hawaiian trip! I have only been to Kauai and the Big Island (2X). I have heard Maui has the best beaches. The ones in Kauai were nice too!

Here are my recommendations- if you look at the big island as one option, I suggest the Kona area. My last visit there in 2013 had us staying up the Kohala coast at a fabulous resort. called The Orchid. Nice rooms, great service, wonderful restaurants, awesome spa, nice little beach, great snorkling right off the beach with sea turtles and more! Go see the volcanoes, either at the park or if you have the money, do the helicopter trip over them!

For Kaiui, it was awhile since I was there and there are lots great hotels on the water. I cannot remember the name of the place I stayed at though. Favorite thing to do their was a boat trip along the Napali coast.

Here are two photos from The Orchid in Kona, a view from the beach area and one of the fabulous sunsets.

I take pics with my phone not my iPad because the resolution is better on the phone. But unless I'm on the road, I post from the iPad so I don't have to log in again. BCO has been doing a weird thing with posts lately, with the style ribbon floating up and down over the text. But I will take a pic with the phone and the iPhones and iPads have a feature called air drop that I can just drop a pic from one device to the other. Like this one:
