Spookie- definately a yucca. They have the most amazing blooms. I had a huge one in my front yard that did well for awhile (never bloomed) but lost it awhile back.

Sas....They're minions from Despicable Me. I think they have their own movie now.

Smarty....Wow, what amazing things your ds makes!

Chevy--Sounds like you had a lot of tough things to deal with growing up. No wonder you are such a survivor. Thank you for sharing your life experiences. I am reminded that I should be more grateful for the good life I have been privileged to have.
Smaarty--Lovely runner. I love the pattern. I know what you mean about a kid with early talent. My daughter was the same with early understanding of perspective. We too had to have paper in the house at all times. With her Turner's Syndrome, she also had OCD tendancies. Drawing was one of them. Hundreds of drawings per day from the day she could hold a pencil in her hand. She has learned to control it now. But she doesn't go anywhere without sketchbook and pencils. Your kids are truly talented.
Spookie--I think it's a yucca.
Patty--Sounds like the sleepover was a success. Glad you survived.

Picked up my brother from the airport today. Looking forward to a great visit with him. I'm the baby of the family. No matter how old I get, I get doted upon and spoiled when my siblings come to see me.
Accidentally banged into my mother's shoulder today with my sore, radiated side. Still hurts. Ugh.
Love Minions! So cute. I saw another cute pic with a minion and a funny caption. I'll have to see if I can find it.
Planted onions in the garden today. Homemade onion rings here I come!

Here's the minion picture I mentioned.

And one other I thought was cute.

Yuccas definately a drier climate plant. There are all kinds of them out here in the west. I do have two red yuccas on my property, one out front and a larger one in the back. They are doing well so far.....

I had a Yucca at last house in Akron. The backyard was done by a landscape architect by the previous owner. It was very special. Unusual stuff all over, pea gravel paths meandered all through, three tiered ponds with pumps and fountain. Hated to leave that house.

Hello to all.....
Sas, your old yard sounds lovely. Did you get the privacy thing you were hoping for around your pool? & lights ?
DH & I went to the mts. We met DDs BF & his parents. Sat at the base of the ski Mt., listen to a concert, out to dinner, out to breakfast & then home.
MammaRay, thinking of you, you described what you are going through as being in a "funk". You are sweet & polite. I would say a fu€^*ng Nightmare. I know you have a strong faith, and cursing like a sailor is not necessary. Your feelings have to be all over the place. No words to make it ok. I am rambling, just want you to know how truly sorry I am.
Need to move.....BBL...
Oh, Duthchie, have you got your scooter out ? Dusted her off & gone for a ride

Some good laughs in here this morning. Happy Sunday from me too. I'm off to church! Have a WONDERFUL day all!

Yes Badger! The chickens! Hah! I haven't seen them lately. It's so funny, because I bought a big metal painted Rooster last year at Ross! You just have to smile when you see him.... Or I do anyway....

I'm going to try an put him somewhere where he doesn't get so faded from the Sun! A little more shade for that guy....
I'll take a picture of him and my Imaginary "Peacock" Bird when I get that garden all straightened, and mulched!

Holeinone.......still too cold for me to ride the scooter. They are predicting up to 4" of snow today.

We had a huge yucca in our yard at our last house. One day, years ago, my dh came to get me so he could show me something. He said I needed to see it for myself to really appreciate it. (He was laughing at this point.) So I followed him out to our frog pond. He points in the direction of the far bank and says, "What do you see?" Frankly, I saw nothing and was beginning to ask him if he had pulled out the yucca. He told me to look closer. Our yucca was there all right....but all the spears had been tied into so many knots that it had become an unrecognizable gordian knot! Our daughter was three at the time, very tiny but tough as nails, and going through a stage of compulsive knot tying. Had myself a good laugh over that one.

HI1--is this a step closer to engagement? Did it with Ds GF and Mom. Mom and I were so excited, we joined hands and kinda jumped up and down when the kids weren't looking. Yes, I got the lights up and trellis(?) valence. Spookie taught me how to do pics on my kindle. I should try to post. It's fun. Should be wind resistant.(hope). Yes last house was a once in a life time house. The setting was a ravine house in west Akron with a very decent bit of land behind. Many of those houses on different cul-de-sacs didn't have any land. Our neighbors partially slipped into the ravine several years after we all moved. The city bought the house and land and demolished it.
MommaZ---I can picture the knots --how funny.

Badger---hoottie hoo (typo was hottie hoo).

Weeping cherry starting to bloom in my my yard.
0 -
Spookie--I'll be praying for good results.
Jazzy--Love the weeping cherry. I adore weeping trees. I have yet to ever own a cherry though. In our old yard, we had a type of ornamental weeping willow that had a similar form to your tree. It got damaged in a snow storm. But my husband decided to play with it and propped it up on a post. My daughter began to play under it, which gave us an idea. My dh build a square frame and cultivated the willow to grown and weep over the sides of the square until it made a secret hide-out or treehouse. Each year when the branches reached the ground, dh would cut a front and back "door". Our daughter would play all day in that tree house. We brought a sapling of the same tree with us to our new place and we are training it to grow into a new tree house for future grandkids.
The picture below it the old treehouse. The branches haven't grown to the ground yet, but this gives you the idea of what it was like. We called the tree Cousin It.

MZ great idea. Avoids having a treehouse that the kids have outgrown like my next door neighbors. What kind of willow would be okay for zone nine--I think---central east Florida. Course here we would have to worry about all the spiders UGH. I pay through the nose for bug service. It's been great since I started them three years ago. It's Slug-A-Bug. They handle inside & outside of house and all lawn care. They're suppose to be environmentally conscious. Could you ask DH if that's really true.
Spookie, with you babe. Ask for a disc-remember. You could ask the doc to give you a preliminary report b/c of your worries. My radiology docs always would, but you would have to wait about a 1/2-1 hour while they read them. Pics, I have already forgotten, I will try again.
Chevy where are you, I have my coffee half finished?
0 -
Oh Sorry! I was out cleaning beside our house...... in the "catch-all" area.... What a MESS! So many leaves, pine-needles and "stuff" I have to get rid of.
And wait..... You mean to tell me you have "bugs"???? Who knew???? You mean your fire-ants, love-bugs, snails, gecko's, and little Aligators?
You guys live in a Petrie-dish..... like Sheri said....
0 -
Oh yes, Chevy petrie dish, but as long as I keep my bugs guys, they aren't near me.
0 -
Sassy, do the bug guys look as good as the pool boys?
0 -
Beachie,
Sas would not hire a frumpy, old man team....her guys moonlight on Chippendales...I might have a photo she sent me last summer....
BBL.....
0 -
These are her whole team of "helpers..."

0 -
oh good, she sent the photo to you also, busy, we are showing our house in a hour, on a5 minute break. Shoulder is not happy. Thanks CHEVY !
0 -
Chevy, I have heard of 3D printers, maybe I need one for the helpers! They can help me anytime............
0 -
Chevy, just wanted to send my support and prayers for your GS and all your family.
0 -
Thanks Hopeful..... Haven't heard anything from them..... oh well.... they can handle it.... I just sent her an email of a "bill" that was in her name that came here! Darndest thing..... ! She hasn't lived here since she was in college.... Might be a "fishing" letter.... but I know I had better not try and see what it is about.... Ha!
Playing in the yard all day! Laying down some of that Red-wood mulch. Sure makes a difference.... Tomorrow I'll put the Strawberry plants that came up, in one of the "pot-pots"....
They are HUGE, and can probably leave the Strawberry plants there year-round.... They come up every year, so that will probably work, being in a pot.... They send out "trailers" so they have lots of room to grow and roam around....Yes Beaches! Have you seen some of those pictures/photo's on the Bing Browser? Those are incredible, and some of them are moving.... The scenery is unbelievable, and looks like in 3-D.....
