When Someone Is Playing With Your Hair

  • Chevy--That owl is adorable. My DH was doing that to me this morning...well, more like a head rub, LOL, but it was a nice way to wake up.

Good morning all! Thanks all-- for the various advice for wraps and such. Today I'm home in loose clothes letting my poor skin just get lots of air. Not going to church. I'm soooo tired and hurting too much. I gave in and took some hydrocodone last night. It actually helped, I was pleasantly surprised that it made me drift off to sleep. It usually takes an elephant tranquilizer to knock me out. haha

As my dad used to say, "How are all the sick, lame and lazies today?" I hope you are improving and feeling stronger.

I just clobbered my DH at a game of Scrabble. My title as house champion remains in tact!

    Hi typically quiet weekend---YAY---Family life

Rosie,  goggled gray hair today. I'm gray. Like it. Rare occurrences I don't. I 've been bugging my Hair Cuttery gal to work on Corporate to do books and styles for Us gray hairs for several years. I kept saying us flower children weren't going to go for all the color stuff. LO and Behold---gray is in in from teens to olders.  I thought of your daughter with her platinum hair.  Google it and follow the breadcrumbs. Her hair is in!

MommieZ it was DS that I was raving about with the Law thingy. DH passed in 2010. Don't feel awkward, you didn't know. He was a great guy. My joke and a very warm memory  was --he could learn a person's life history in an elevator ride. He was so congenial and always was laughing. DBF and I got together two years after DH died. They're times here that I have referred to both in the same post. So, it's good for me to clarify.

HI1----I wish I could be in the court when he presents next month. What he tells me about the appellate level is--as soon as you introduce yourself the judges start peppering questions.  Makes sense, they've read what each side presented in briefs. He has two strengths that will do him well, he listens and answers questions well versus going off on a tangent.

chevy, happy you r happy...missed what happened, but it looks like it's on the upswing. Hugs to you

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I am looking forward to some sun, this coming week. Weather doesn't often get me down....but I'm done with the yuck.

My girlfriends husband died on easter last year. Late 50's. Wish there was something I could magically do for her this week. Still so sad.

    Rest up everyone. Sweet dreams

Oy well I survived Spring break and had a pretty good time with the kiddos except for being tired and achy. Thursday we went to the Aquarium, the beach and walked along the bay while the tide was out. I stepped down where there were a bunch of clam holes and my left foot got sucked into the sand and I fell face first into the water and mud! I was filthy up to my thighs!. I got a nice purple bruise on the top of my foot but broke nothing! Of course I brought an exchange of pants for the kids but not me... so I went out to dinner like that..ugh.

My 14 year old started the break with a cold that she has happily passed on to me. Started last night, sore throat, drainage, severe congestion, screaming headache, aches, fatigue and I think a fever (we can't find the thermometer). Lovely gorgeous day and I feel flattened; I managed to shower and get dressed that's it. Supposed to rain all next week. So I have a constant wad of tissues and I can't breathe... pity party. Nothing worse then a cold from a middle schooler.

Sassy- I don't color my hair.. I is what I is... besides I like salt and pepper and white hair. Right now I have free white highlights on ash blond! I hope you all feel better then me! Sleep well... Patty are you out of jail yet? Blondie I am thinking about you. Ibgal- yay you made it through chemo. Spookie congrads on the results. For all those who have been toasted by rads be careful. Mmbie- if you have open weeping sores from rads I would be careful snorkling.. no infections. Hope everyone has a great Spring. I am creeping back to my recliner. nite

Rosie the hair color wasn't in regard to you. You earlier described your daughter as having naturally white hair that she was coloring b/c she felt different.  I figured if you googled it and could show her sources that said her hair is IN, she would see her hair in a different way and have fun with it. .................Sorry you had the fall and all after not good. Bummer. But check-in on a more routine basis chickie.  When I read the article about hair color and thought about you . I also thought we hadn't heard from you in awhile.

Rosie girl, no checking out till check out time-------got it!

Susan, visit with your friend if you can. Since Dh died, I haven't been able to open any cards since. Can't believe I'm on anyone's Christmas list. I have them all, unopened. Too hard. Those that keep contact by presence or phone are valued. I know I am not right about those that think to send a card. It's my screwy mind. Those that continue to send cards--bless them. Off on a tangent---Dear cousin saw the glass bowl. for the cards and said---OMG they're is  my card-----I then had to explain. Ugh.

Sue's visit her, let her remember him. It won't be an easy visit, but she will cherish it. Not may be that day. But in a future time.

This is way TMI, but no where could I share this-----other than here. I had the first no pain urination since last May of 2014. All the troubles caused by RAi-131--------working it daily-----------all day long for a frigging x time. One moment of peace. Never take a voiding for granted.

Susan- sorry about your friend's husbands passing during this time last year. Maybe a nice phone call to say hello and see how she is doing would mean a lot to her this week.

  • Sassy--Sorry for the mix-up and thank you for clarifying. I am still learning how to keep all the details straight in here. I made a worse mistake in another thread. I kept making comments to someone in the thread, constantly referring to them as a female. Well, turns out "she" is a HE!! Oops. I've decided I'm here to be the court jester. LOL

Thanks for sharing what you said about cards, and how you feel after your DH passed. It helps me understand some things my mom does after my dad passed away. It's been so hard for her. Four years later and she is just so lonely and sad all the time. I visit her several times a week and she sees my kids every day. It's just never enough because we can't fill the hole in her heart. Is there more I should do?

I had a weird experience where I couldn't pee for twenty four hours, while pregnant. I was in so much pain and so miserable. The ER took forever to figure out what to do and we never figured out what caused the blockage. It never repeated. But I understand not taking a "voiding" for granted. I'm sorry you have been troubled for so long.

Rose--I hope you feel better soon.

sas...I do see her a lot. She has always been a big help to me with my cancer, a great supporter. Her husband died of cancer 6 months after diagnosed. We help each other a lot...but she is so sad. That's what I can't help, no one can. These things are those big life changing moments. It will take her a long time. She has a lot of friends around her..she is still very numb, and could give a hoot about anything right now. Life is just so sad sometimes.

I feel so blessed to have had so much time with cancer. It has given us all a chance to put life into perspective and have and still are having great times. His hit fast, he got sick, and never got better.

Ok..enough sadness.....are weather is finally going to be good...I think all week.....yeah for sun and warmth

    Have a good day all

Sassy- forgive me all my synapses are going through snot... slowing everything down to a crawl. Of course.. I see what you meant after I read it again. My DD Blondie has now colored her hair purple.. lavender and kind of a red/brown. I never underestimate what color she might turn up. But her college grades were great Bs and and A. I am not complaining. She has kept her job, not gotten any issues with her car and oh heck she can do what she wishes with the hair. After all next B-day she's 20, and I have no say. I miss her gorgeous snowy white hair. I wish she saw what a gift being a true DNA platinum blond is.

I am sure not voiding would be the pits! Never underestimate how lovely normal things are like energy, being able to breathe, eat, poop, no pain.. health we take for granted. We all know how special and sweet it is. My throat is better and the cold has moved into my chest.. ba hum bug. Gack cough... I have a stellar immune system and rarely get colds so this one is a doosy! This too shall pass.

I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a long time spouse, special warmth and hugs for your friend Susan. Some things maybe we never get over. It's like finding your missing piece only to lose it again.

I hope everybody has a good pain free day with something in it, to be grateful for! Rain this morning and blue skies and spring flowers to enjoy right now. (((hugs)))) to all.

  • Rosie, sorry to hear you've caught The Cold. It's certainly a pain as well as a waste of unusually good spring weather. I hope it passes off fast.

  • Hope you are better soon Rose.

Patty, Maybe I missed something--are you home yet? How are you?

Susan, I hope you are able to find a way to sooth your friend. Perhaps we can all add our prayers to help you find inspiration and for her to feel comforted.

We booked our flights today. Another step closer!

I hope everyone is doing well today.

  • MammaRay, I hope the counselor will help. Nobody loves the idea, but it's more important to get the help. I hope it works for both of you :)

on a different topic. This is what I sent to son who's moving to syndey. And what he sent back to me. Funny.since they have big bugs down under thought he'd like this. His is about 3'

Did patty get home? Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Rose, hope your cold gets better.

Did Hi1 go to CA yet?

  • Ray--Totally go for the hair color. It'll be fun. I feel really blessed to go on this trip. We are dead broke, but DH's brothers are financing the whole thing. Wish I could take you with me. Wouldn't that be fun? I've never done a trip as a giant double date before. Good idea about seeing a counselor. If your DH isn't keen on it yet, maybe he will become more so later. I really hope this helps.

Smaarty--Love the bugs. I think it would be cool to have a spider like that lurking in my landscaping. :)

  • One could have a lot of fun with that spider - in the landscaping, lurking in the cellar or the attic, maybe on the bed in the guest room?
  • My DH is going to turn a small glade in our back yard into a "secret" garden for my future grandchildren. It would be kind of magical to have things like that spider, maybe a huge turtle, a frog, various things to inspire the imagination and play with hiding among the plant life of the garden. I'll have to talk to him about that. The entrance to this garden is a tree house on the ground created from an ornamental willow.

  • It sounds magical Mombie, and a great incentive to your kids to give you those grandchildren. ;)

I grew up with black widow spiders, I am scared of them

  • I'm not sure I would recognize a black widow spider if I saw one. I'm pretty good at picking out daddy longlegs though. Those have never bothered me. It's slithery things that start with 's' that are my phobia... It's odd, isn't it, how we pick up these fears; some we can figure out the cause, but many times not. I think it would be harder to be afraid of spiders than reptiles (at least in the NW) as spiders are all over the place here.

I remember being in Mrs. Wheeler's Science glass when I was in grade-school.. And this was the COOLest class! She had Spiders and Snakes, and Mice and Mud-puppies...(Salamanders) And we got to "play" with them during class! We would let the huge Tarantula's crawl on our hand, up our arms, and hold the little garter snakes... "Checkers" was one of our favorites!

I guess being around all those critters, made it so I was never afraid... We didn't have Black Widow's though... but the others were all okay around people.... I think that's also why me and my little Brother "collected" those furry caterpillars, and "raised" them.... Ha! We even found a "horney-toad" and tried to train him to a box, but he kept trying to escape, so we had to let him go...

It was about this time our Parents got us a dog.... Ha!

My guess is, it's probably pretty hard to train a Tarantula.... but if you didn't move fast, or show aggression, they wouln't hurt you...Winking

So those of you considering your own pet Tatantula.... Sounds like you ALSO have to get him a frog or two for his OWN pet!

hi Chevy, can't sleep? I had to use the bathroom at 4 am and can't get back to sleep, so I'm up. My sons GF will hate that spider. She's as bad as my DSister. She like the bug but thought the spider was gross. My GF has a dragon in her backyard garden. I'll have to get a pic for you guys. She got a couple of things but can't think of what they are.

Going to work on a tabletop runner today. I'll show you guys a pic soon. Got the other one done last week, still need to mail it to syndey.

I'm going back to swim class this morning! It's been 4 months since the last time, time to get back in the groove.

Good morning insomniacs- back from my birthday trip to the west coast to spend time with family. We had a great visit, lots of good eating, a jazz concert, a trip to the Nixon Museum, walk on the beach, and good old hang out time. I feel refreshed from the time away and also tired from the late travel in last night.

About spiders, I have great respect for them. Like Foots, I am very mindful of the black widows and they are around everywhere here in the SW. You can identify them by the hourglass red shape on their belly. If you dare to get that close.......

  • Chevyboy
    Chevyboy Posts: 10,258

On their belly? I thought it was on their back? So you mean you have to turn one over? Hah! Like that's gonna happen!

Smarty! Yes I'm always up early... But I go to bed about 9.... at LEAST. Get up any time after 4 usually. You don't mean a REAL dragon.... do you? You mean like a little Gecko? Those little Lizards? It's probably a night-crawler, and you think it is a Dragon! Singing
