Wow, Ms. Sas!! Is this what happens when you have a glass (I hope it was just one) of wine. I could not keep up with you for the life of me. I am a simple person who can only understand simple sentences. What?!!!!! You have OCD too? I have this thing about keeping stuffs where they are supposed to belong. Drives me crazy when my kids and hubby have items all over the place...can't think straight and then I get anxious. BUT guess who is always going around looking for misplaced items? Moi, because I could never remember where I placed them. I really need help.Anyway, thank you for the info on Vitamin D. My Doc wants my level above 40.

Rose, no it's not more fun. I would get a panic attack lol

MS Smaarty, I would love to meet up with you.

Mel, is your DD on a steroid inhaler by any chance?

    Jazzy, best wishes.

It's 11:30 and I can't think straight anymore. Going to bed. Good night.

OMD, just like the old days, 2:20 am and no one here. In those days I'd wait for the southlanders to come ChrissyB, Alyson, Thatslife.....Alyson's the only southlander that comes now. May be I should go to the Aussie thread and invite them. If you go back to the very early days of the thread. If no one was here I'd talk to myself about things.

    It was comforting.

Loverly-----Hooks------hooks for keys, hooks for purses, places for everything. LOLOLOLOL. DBF had no concept of how to find his keys--made him a hook. Glasses on  a hook . We laugh all the time--he can't find his keys or glasses---if they are laying, I put them on their hook. He said today "I've been looking for those how did they get there?" DBF is great at folding laundry and putting it away------they're things I've never found. DBF is finally good at empting the dishwasher. He get's that everything has a place. You do the same? OCD very good. Felix Unger is my mentor( Tony Randall).

Thanks for the good wishes on the pending consulting gig. Should know more today.

About jokes, I sometimes find myself in the midst of "blonde jokes." I am a blonde (by choice, not by birth) and when I went mostly gray around 40, I started highlighting my hair and eventually ended up just doing a whole color change and have kept up with it since. My coloring allowed me to pull it off.

Now that being said, there are people I know where I live that really never knew me when I had darker hair. I play music for fun and was in this music class of all men who started up one night with the blonde jokes, and were looking for a reaction. I could tell they were trying to piss me off/push my buttons. Like a bunch of high school boys. I have worked in all male jobs before, so I know how to flip the tables on them pretty quickly.

So they were going on and on with their dumb blonde jokes, and I was just sitting there staring at them with my "whatever look" and they said "these jokes don't seem to bother you." I said "that is right because I am not really a blonde you see, I dye my hair". Silence. Oooh, SNAP!

  • You are too funny. Thanks for the response. See y'all tonight.

I'm done and back home. Didn't feel or remember a thing. Yeah! Appt at 7:30, home at 9 and went to bed, up at 11. He saw some inflammation, took tissue samples which I won't know about for 3 weeks. Hopefully that's minor and I'm on the backside of this. Still feeling a little off but ok. Will catch up on the TV today.

My sister on the way over and I had to hide the paperwork, since I haven't told her anything. Still not planning to until she gets back from her cruise. She leaves Friday morning, then I start house and dog sitting.

Welcome Trinity. No more lurking, jump in with both feet. We're a nut house

Chevy, my mom was a Shalimar lady too. Ok I have some suggestions for replacing your pink rose. First I offer two views of my favorite, Tiffany. One of the few roses to win awards for fragrance. At one time I had a climber version, and I would have literally armloads of long stemmed blooms in the house. Hard to find but worth it.

As you can see, it shades to peach in the center.

Here's my other favorite, Cecile Brunner. It's an old old rose, my mom had one growing in our yard when I was growing up. It can get huge, but the blooms are tiny, pure pale pink, tea rose shape. Also very fragrant. This picture was at our old house. I had a lovely arbor with a bench, sitting under it the scent was heavenly. Birds built nests in it.

I think I have a close up of a bud.

Not the best, but see the nail clippers there for proportion.

Mags- I remember when you posted that trellis of roses on another thread last year. So beautiful!

Beautiful Mags. I love the Tiffany. Do you have much trouble with it in Oklahoma? I've never tried roses, really afraid of them. I'm not much of a gardener. My 80 year old neighbor has lovely roses, takes care of them herself.

What kind of exposure do they have? Hoping - fingers crossed - you say west. I have one spot in the front flower bed for a rose bush. Otherwise it's pure grass, mowed weeds west side and lol I'm not kidding. Only weed stuff I put down is just around the house perimeter for stickers. But then I know they are susceptible to black spot from dampness which for sure they would have under roof line drip.

    But very, very lovely.

On an entirely different note I love the purple drapes behind it!

Mags- gorgeous roses! I have not seen that one, I'll look for it. I have the peach colored one with the rose colored edges and it smells wonderfully good - huge flower production, big healthy tall bush. For a while we had a very nice smelling peace rose, white but it croaked.Gardinas are heavenly and so delicatly pure white against those waxy deep green leaves - nice photo spookie. Jazzy- lovely rock garden!

Smarty so glad things went well and you are home and resting. All I have done all day is sleep, can't seem to stay awake. My Bp was very low today for me 99/66 heart rate 87 (just about never see 80 anything, always over 90-110) guess it's the pain meds? Lots of rib pain today. I hit any kind of surface and I'm toast.. fast asleep. I guess I need it. i might be here all night since I have slept all day.

I've been looking online for Mr. Lincoln Pink Rose bushes.... Not havng any luck finding pink.... I think I'll have my Daughters' get one for me for Mother's Day? And then it would be our 3 generation rose bush.... !

They always get me flower plants, but a Rose Bush would be better! My Mom and Dad had beautiful Roses... Dad was a Florist...just like Janie.... AND my Brother... They showed me how to angle/trim the rose bushes, to guide where you wanted the next stem to come in... Dad even had those grafted rose bushes.... A bush with different color roses...

Eddie's funeral is next Wednesday, at a Church close to here... Their old neighborhood, and Theresa's church. He is one of the few survivors of Pearl Harbor... He was there that day... his story was featured in our local paper, on Pearl Harbor Day.... so it will be a beautiful funeral, and then a military service at Ft. Logan.... Not many of those old guys left.... He was 94! Theresa is 92.....

All the rose pictures are beautiful! AND your YARD!

    Ohhhhhhh.... Look at this one!

They would slice the bark from the host "tree" and then attach a stem from another color, and then tie it all back together...until it takes hold.... A real conversation piece, a "rose-tree."

I still like the all-one-color trees....

For beautiful roses, check out Heirloom Roses in Oregon. We have bought several there and stopped to see their gardens on the way back to Seattle from the Oregon coast. They have a lot of old fashioned roses and all are grown on their own rootstock rather than grafted.

Chevy, We had a pear tree that had 5 varieties grafted on to the trunk. The dog destroyed it and we ended up with 3 varieties but never knew which was which. Maybe they were all rootstock in the end.

Jazzy, nice water-smart garden. Thinking about changing our front lawn to maybe rock garden with drought tolerance plants.

    Dutch, very handy...nice frame.

Ms Sas, had to figure out who Felix Unger was. So he is a character in The Odd Couple show from the early 70's ( thanks to Google). This is before I came to the States. Sounds like an interesting show.I need to see if it's available on Netflix.

Mel, such a blessing to have friends from childhood

LMG, the climbing Tiffany was at our first house in OKC, and it grew up to our second story window, very prolific. As long as it gets sufficient water, west exposure should be good.

Loverly, Double Delight is also one of my very favorites! Very fragrant!

Okay.... I just ordered an Heirloom Rose...! Thanks for all the suggestions, about fragrance, climbing, etc! PERFECT! I love the color... There was another "new" rose, honoring Breast Cancer, but I like the fullness of the one I ordered! Besides, I like to just remember my Mom, and the rose bush my Daughter's had given me... So I done DID it...Winking

Wren... I ordered it from Oregon...! The most fragrant one I could find....

Mags, I'm planting some Morning Glory seeds by our front porch/fence! I saved the seed from the dried vines I had planted last year in another spot.

Morning Loverly! Yes, the Odd Couple! That was the funniest show... ALSO The Honeymooners! Did you gals watch the Dancing With The Stars 10th Anniversay special last night? We REALLY enjoyed it... And Patty Labelle and Lil Kim really belted out that song! I can't remember that other gals name... but it was so fun to watch and listen to!

Dutchess, take a picture when you are finished... I love when you gals post pictures of your "stuff" .... makes me want to do things too!
