Jazzy! Yes.....! They were talking about a newer form of internal radiation! Was yours similar to this? The balloon part was put in the spot where the tumor was... then filled.... Took a few visits for the proper seating of it.... Then the treatments were twice a day, for only 8 minutes each time. Little seeds of radiation were sent through those tubes into the center, and removed... I don't understand it all, but the whole thing was over in one week....
The tubes were a pain! And the hole became infected.... Sheri nearly fell over when she tried to help me clean it..... Then George did.... I made a foam piece to set under it with a hole cut out, so I could sleep on that side... A "tube" top held it all in place, sort of. But 7 days was great compared to the longer time!
Thanks Sass! I know! I thank God for all the help.... Sheri said she finally had to decide to let it go.... and hope for the best.... Now she has her 2 sons under her wings again.... Mom's will always be around to help you.....

Patty, you can shorten the name to LoL if you like. Because besides loving life, I also love to laugh....I know I am so corny. Both of my girls just turned 17 and 12. Teenage years are tough. I am happy my older daughter still talks to me. I just try to understand them, but at the same time set boundaries and hope that they don't cross the line.
Jazzy, my I internet is good. It is easier for me to use my phone. I can take it anywhere with me compared to the desktop or iPad. I can post whenever I am free. I do my thinking in the WC where no one can distract me. Oh about adopting a dog, my DD would like GSD or Husky. Both DH and Dd like GSD. I like them too, just not the fur. OCD and fur on the floor and furnitures are not good match. I like labradoodle, any breed poodle mix, or wheaten terrier. They go better with my anal retentive personality.
Ms. Chevy, wonderful news about DD and DGS. God does answer prayers in His own time and in His own way. It is hard when there is conflict or tension in relationships of our love ones. I have two sisters who won't talk to each other. One is getting married in August and the other sister will not be there. It just breaks my heart. I am sorry about Mr. George fall. I think men might have lower pain tolerance. My husband was a baby when he had knee surgery. Drove me nuts. Felt like whacking him at times especially when I tried to help and he grumbled at me, but I had to keep calm because the kids were watching

lol - now that's much shorter. Yea
Chevy - glad to hear your gs is doing so much better. Sweet

Chevy- nope, mine was the multi-catheter type, but the same concept. Looks like this.

No.... she has to call you Loverly, because I do... And I am the Senior one around here.... Hah! Just kidding! Peppermint can call you anything she wants.... as long as it's Loverly....

Theresa just called me.... She will be 91 tomorrow! I can't believe it! She is the sharpest tack in the box.... And she just cracks me up! It is storming here, and she said she was scared, and what should she do.... I told her to crawl under the bed and take her Rosary beads... She just laughed! She is going to lunch tomorrow with her Granddaughter and her GGsons! She has handled Eddie's passing so well.... and with Grace....
Whenever she is alarmed, she says "Oh chit!".... And I just laugh! I think she does it just to hear me laugh at her.....
I have to go get her and take her to lunch next week.... I'm just so afraid she will fall, because she is nearly blind... she uses a walker, but ..... maybe I should just take her something fun, and we'll have a picnic in her room? I used to do that with my Grandma...... 0 -
Jazzy!!!!!!!! REALLY?????? Damn.... did it hurt? Were there 4 lines going in? What was it called exactly? I can look it up....
I'll bet that's the one they came out with after I had it.... Mine was in Dec. 2009.... Yours was 2012?
After they drew the fluid out, the "balloon" was flat, but when she yanked it out, OMD I thought I saw STARS!

Hello everybody
Doing well and trying to catch up on the postings. Still only on page 832. You ladies are active!
I had a PET scan last Friday, the first one after 5 months of carboplatin and gemzar. Waiting to meet with my MO next Monday to discuss results.
Meanwhile trying to make all the arrangements for the Great Moving (Move?) to South Carolina in July (rent out house here, rent a house there, hire a moving company, deal with kid's school, change doctors, change health insuranceetc). We will ask my MIL to come and take my DS there on a flight; me, myDH and the pooch will drive cross country. Should be a fun trip! I'll keep you posted!

Chevy- yes, that is exactly right what you posted.
It did not really hurt that much, a bit sore with the tubes in and with sleeping. Some of them got really irritated, but never infected. There was little scarring after, but I have a few little white round dots where some of them were more irritated and thus, resulted in some minor scarring. Two plus years later, if you saw my girls, you would not have any idea what they have been through. This type of thing has been a very common treatment for men for years for prostate cancer, and now they are doing it more for women.
I am large breasted, so I had fifty of those tubes in the boob. I was pretty numbed up when they put the tubes in (they sort of slide them in, which was pretty amazing to me) and then cap them off. The RO did the placement. Then they do the modeling for the treatment, you go rest over the weekend, and go back Mon-Fri, morning and afternoon for your treatments. You can actually drive and are fine during treatment, it is only during the procedure day and with the meds you cannot drive.
During treatment, they hook you up twice a day to the rads machine and they do a model around your tumor bed and 2 inches around to be sure they get all the "stray cells." More rads around the tumor bed, less outside. They had a guy there that did the modeling and would show me the 3D image of my boob and the area and they explained everything about the treatment so I knew exactly what as happening. Very cutting edge stuff. The treatments were around 20 min each. Some days, 20 minutes felt like 20 days.....
I had a friend come out to help me during the procedure and stayed through the first day of treatment. They brought her into the room in the afternoon when I had to go back after the cath tubes went in and to show us how to clean around the tubes twice a day to minimize infection. When I exposed my breast with the tubes, my friend turned white and thought she was going to pass out! But she got with the program after her initial reaction and was there to help and hung out with me over the weekend. All I can say is that is a TRUE FRIEND.
My BS asked later on if I was glad I chose the internal rads recommendation in the end, and the answer was yes. For women who have very early small tumors, no node involvement, etc., this is what may be offered more with time. The cancer docs all say with the advancements in early detection, small tumors, etc., this is a way to treat the cancer without over treating women with some of the other things available.
So that is my radiation treatment story!

Loverly, What is a GSD? German Shepherd? I think a husky has more hair than a German shepherd. I have a friend who has a sled dog team and she could stuff mattresses with the hair she gets off them. Read up on huskies. They are sort of high maintenance dogs. Sweet, but love to run away and are very strong to hold. I messed up my shoulder hanging on to one. Labradoodles are nice and wheaten terriers are wonderful. In any case you will want a good new vacuum rated for pet hair.

Hey ladies!
Sorry I have been MIA. I've been avoiding the boards, as I have been having some issues, and did not want to send myself into a hypochondriac stupor. (not that it worked...)
Anyhow, at least since I started chemo, I've had this tiny put persistent cough. Last November, I had a terrible case of bronchitis. After that, the cough became more bothersome, and I've started having issues catching my breath. I've also had this sharp pain crop up where rib #2 meets my sternum. I didn't want to have un-needed tests done, but since I started weight training, the breathing thing has gotten much worse (instead of better, which is what should be happening with consistent excersize.)
So made an apt and got an xray- nothing shows on my lungs, but that spot on my sternum- has a spot. Had a CT scan this morning to not only look at that, but also to take a closer look at my lungs as my ONC said i may have microscarring from chemo, or that the bronchitis may still be in my lungs. She also said it could be an auto-immune issue, as my family has pretty much every auto-immune disease under the sun and it can be activated by any kind of physical trauma.
Soooooo- the scan came back clear of any concerning spots! YAY! that means this pain/spot on my sternum is likely scar tissue. However, this means more testing for my lung function, because it really is interfering with my life. But, supposedly no mets, and I was so relieved that I had to lay down and cry for about an hour. I just got off work, and am exhausted.
Looking forward to driving to Dallas this weekend to see the Rolling Stones. I've never gotten to see them, and they are an absolute favorite of mine. Then have to hurry back home, then rush to San Antonio for my nephew's graduation party. I will miss the actual graduation as it is early in the day. No way for me to make it back on time. So proud of him though.
All of you- hope everyone is ok- sending you all my love and good thoughts.
xooxoxoxoxo

JWoo- sorry about your breathing problems. I had some myself in May and was worried too. I was thinking it was asthma, but was worried more might be going on. Had an x-ray and no spots here either, and went on Advair which got me better.
I am sorry about the auto-immune problems. I hope they can find some things to help you.
Enjoy your concert in Dallas. How fun you will get to see the Rolling Stones!

Jwoo. Glad to see you and glad your spot on sternum was negative. Yea ! Sorry you bet Having such a hard time. Now the Rolling Stones concert sounds like fun. Just what the dr would order.
Chevy - loverly it is. I got it now. Thanks. You are right maybe a picnic would be better for Theresa.
11pm here and wide awake. Anyone else ?

Yes, but must go to bed soon. You feeling okay Patty? I tried to take a pic of the moon for you tonight but it came up way late.

Are You a cool mama? Jazzy
Or a hot one
0 -
feeling good jazzy. Maybe moon pic next time ? I did check it out on line. Looks relaxing. I've never tried any kind of yoga. What do you like best about it ?
Hootie hoo
0 -
Foots- I am mostly hot, although not as bad as I used to be.
Patty- what do I like most about yoga? The stretching. Helping me to be flexible. The relaxation pose at the end where you bring it all together. I have been doing yoga since 1998. I am a huge fan. But I am also not one to do the really hard crazy poses like head stands, etc.
Going to be friends. This girl is tired.

Wow, you guys were busy today! I was back at the MO before work today. Sore throat, fluid in my ear, infected hang nail....needless to say, more blood work to check WBC's. I'm starting to feel like a pin cushion and I'm running out of veins.
Lol -- luckily not that bad but if you take the left sofa arm, that's pretty close! If he weren't so stinkin' cute...duct tape and a slipcover, good as new! German Shepherds are great dogs, not as much hair as a husky and both are a lot of work to start but once they're trained, they're fantastic (my brother in S. Dakota has a husky). I have a little OCD but I vacuum a couple of times a week and have the sofa's covered in old sheets so I can just swoop them up and wash them once a week. I walk both by full-blood and my half-breed by tying their leashes together and it's pretty easy since they've been trained not to pull on the leash. But I have a really strong right arm from those moments when a kitty crosses their path. In the summer, I get the GSD a "fancy pants" cut where they shave the long withers and it cuts back on a lot of the longer hair. My half-breed "Shepinois" (the cool name for a designer cross between a shepherd and a Belgian Malinois) has the hair of a Malinois which is a lot shorter and he doesn't have the double coat that a lot of GSD's do. Malis can be a lot of work, too, because they are high energy but, until the last few weeks, I walked the boys daily and played ball with them a couple of times a week so between that and whatever they get up to when I'm not home ("why are the couch cushions all over the floor?"), they seem to do okay. This is the "Who, me? It was the squirrel." look I get from the Shepinois:

Chevy--My full blooded GSD (yes, German Shepherd Dog) has a high anxiety level so he licks his front carpal joint (wrist) raw so I make a bandage out of Gorilla tape because he can't chew through it. He's got two strikes against him being male and a dog.
Jwoo--Glad the spot wasn't anything bad. I have asthma and allergies and one of the things that sets off my coughing is allergies. Even if you don't have asthma, it's something to think about getting tested to rule out.
Patty--nicknames are good. Chevy calls me Marly and compared to what some of my high school friends call me, it's pretty benign. I was a student athletic trainer and had a sweatshirt that had my first name "Marlana" sewn into it. One day, I went to put on my sweater, discovered it was dirty so I flipped it inside out and my nickname was born...so spell "Marlana" backwards and see what you come up with...

very funny Marly

Good Morning my sweet friends! Yes, ANY dog is beautiful! Our pets make us who we are....

JWOW ! Dang girl! But so happy you are back, and have SOME sort of good news! I just hate breathing problems... And Bronchitis can hang around forever, it seems like... Are you using Inhalers? Like Advair or one of those? And with Asthma, we just get sicker than a dog...
They always give me an anti-biotic when I get something wrong, just because our lungs must be weaker, and anything lands right there, when we catch something... So the anti-b's plus Prednisone, the Nebulizer 3-4 times a day, and it helps me get over it.... Also the NY-quil, and Day-quil help a lot, besides the nasal-rinses every day... And lots of chocolate cokes... The coke seems to cut that mucous in there.... See, this is my OWN remedy for these things.... but they work.
Marly, he is a BeeOOtiful dog! You know, I did that once also! Lacee had this spot on her leg, and she would NOT quit licking it... Even the gauze bandage would last about 5 minutes... So I wrapped it, then cut Duck tape to fit and cover the gauze, and she left it alone! You can get that designer tape you know.... Ha! In fact I have that, and wrap the outside of boxes (small to medium) and use those to organize my garage shelves.
Yes I know! Those plastic boxes are only a dollar, but if you HAVE the box, you can't throw it away, right?
Blondie! You little spit-fire! You sound sooooooo much better! I'm just happy your life is getting straightened out, and you can have fun things to do...
Peppermint, I STILL don't know what you guys are talking about.... See? Neither of these other gals do either, but they ain't sayin' anything, like I am!
Except Jazzy... You two are in cohoots together... What is this moon-yoga stuff? Are you talking in code? Should I be knowing what this is?
And morning LilFoots! And WREN! Morning to you too! I'm off and running.................. sort of....

Hi, all - been catching up...two things that stick out in my mind as I've been skimming pages is naked yoga and aloe vera juice! Naked yoga??? That one would have never crossed my mind! Hard enough to imagine a nude beach, but...I'll say it again...naked yoga??? I will have to skip that one!! Lol! I like the idea of yoga under the moon, though...clothed yoga under the moon, that would be nice!
And for the aloe vera juice - I think I will try that for DD2! Do you have to get it at the health food store?
Taking 12 yr old beagle to the vet in a little bit - he is struggling a lot getting off the sofa and bed. He usually manages to get up on them, but then can't get down and gets mad if we try to help him. It's hard to keep him off. I was able to convince him to stay off the bed last night and he slept in his bed on the floor, but this morning he was up on the sofa as soon as I turned my back to get lunch packed for DD2.
Last day of school is today - yea!! We're going to see that new Reese Witherspoon movie - can't remember the name of it, but looking forward to it. Still wrapping my head around the idea that I have a College Graduate and after today, a High School Senior!
Take care, all!

Mel, we get it at the Super Walmart here.... It's like $7 something a gallon.... And it is good plain...(husband thinks so) or I mix mine in a smoothie, or mix about 14C in tea, juice, etc.
Maybe the Vet can give him something to help his joints? Yes, he doesn't want to jump off the bed, and get hurt... I've seen those dog ramps, or stools to help them up and down...

Good morning friends- got things to do today but did not sleep all that great so it is going to be a fun day!
Blondie- let's see, what is shaking this weekend, friday night drinks on a patio with a new friend/colleague, Saturday is outdoor jazz under the stars, sunday is dinner with some friends in town who are also moving here soon. I also want to see the new Beach Boys movie, Love and Mercy, that comes out tomorrow but may have to wait a bit as I have a trip out of town next week for some biz.
Glad our mutual friend daisylover is coming to see you again! She told me she is heading your way this weekend. She is a peach.
Chevy- it is okay you don't know what I am talking about. I don't either most of the time! For FM yoga, it is this simple, you put a yoga mat down on dear old Mother Earth, do yoga outdoors and then we talk about anything interesting about the full moon going on at the time. Very restorative and doing yoga outdoor is the best.
Yes, Mel, clothed yoga for this only. Naked yoga so wrong!

hi gals, didn't finish reading everyone's, way behind...what type of spin cancer holeinone? Hope it's basil cell.Welcome newbies ....not so much newbies anymore, but you are for me...lol
Those new to chemo, hang in there. I have been on for 3/12 years . I stopped adding to my list at bottom. It's taking up to much space:). I have been very creative with a bunch of dif se's. Pm me if you want me to throw some of my crazy ideas your way.
I have only been on nupergin not sure I spelled that right, same-ish like neurlastra. I described it as back labor pains with no cute baby for the pain.
Pp, hope you are feeling better
Chevy, I see pole talk is back..you go girl
Mammaray, hey girl. In my prayers. Hope you are feeling stronger
Sas, seems we were on break together...I got lots done. Garden done, made a desk out of a side board, painted another room....fun stuff...looks like you were shopping...fun too
Blondiex..murder she one of my favs. Watch every night before going to sleep

Hope everyone is drying out...too much too fast with that rain. Scary
Got my arm wrapped from the Lymphodema yesterday. We had lots of laughs. Can't wok with it in, can't knit with it on....we videotaped the process...three layers plus 2 protective layers. I need to take it off when I work and be able to put it back on. We will see how that works. Prob just for a month to get swelling down, then they will fit me with sleeve. 14 years of cancer and treatment, never had swollen in the arm. Chest wall yes arm never. Got a bunch of test Friday, will be in hospitol all day...that's cause if ins issue now. They will allow 3 tests. But nit the 1 I used to get. So that puts me there a lot longer...yuck. But we kinda of suspicious that the cancer is back in my auxiliary.
Now fir some nice pics if my garden

Hey Susan- nice garden pics. Join the gardening thread or are you already there?
