Spookie, I don't complain allot do I? I talk about DBF and booboos, but I'm not a complainer I don't think. But now I'm going to just whine. It's 8:30 friday night. The landline phone is broke. The cell phone died months ago. Computer is going to have to go back to the factory again, but I can't call HP b/c I don't have a phone. DBF is working(really), not just being bad.  You know I'm a yakker---doesn't everyone? I can't even call 911. I may have to get back under the table to try to fix the phone. But last night was a hoot trying to get down on the floor when I couldn't kneel on the booboo knee, then I had to get up, then down.....worst of all I have no wine for my whine. Thanks about feeling better---I love swimming--it's fresh, not like work at all. Now warm to boot. Schatzi runs along side the pool end to end, and I get kisses at each end. She worries when I'm in the water. She was so sweet when I fell, licking me and fussing.

Jazzy, glad you enjoyed the jazz stuff. That poster (the blue and orange one) is very rare. That was an archive pic. When I searched years ago they didn't even show it in the pictoral history from the beginning till what ever year it went to at the time. It's the first I think. A relative was stunned when she saw it. She knew someone who collected them.

Mags whaat was that sassypants pic for?  it was before being under the table ......so it must have been from something else?

Wren, the security is AVG it's working new license so it's current. last night I called my tech buddy  and they did a clean up. Used DBF's phone. No clue why the phone died. Undid everything and replugged in......I have a dialtone, but it won't send or receive calls. ???????

Computer is 1 yr old. With the computer what I'm seeing more frequently is flashing. That was one of the issues it went back to the factory in May. They changed a battery. The computer never flashed for them, but it's on the problem list. They warranted the problem list items for 90 days. I have until july 11th to decide whether to send it back.

    ??????????????

I'm glad Somebody is having fun!! My usual boring night here. Sas, you should be able to use your Kindle instead of 'puter? Wifi? Do you have a Best Buy close? They usually have good prices on land line and cell phones. We don't have land lines any more, cell only.

Going to bed soon, nite all.

Hi ladies- I am home from the latin music. It was a great group from LA but with musicians from many latin countries. The vocalist was really good, her name is Lilly and she is from Cuba. The dancing and the people watching are the best. For those of you who remember going to disco clubs in the 1970s, this reminds me so much of that whole scene. Women dressed up, men looking to dance with them. It was awesome. No I did not dance tonight but have in the past!

Sas--I'm feeling okay. More tired this time and a little more nauseous but no bone pain, I'm assuming because I didn't need the neupogen with 9.7 neutrophils. I spent the late afternoon/early evening on the covered lounger in my parents' back yard with the dogs giving me run-by lickings every 5 minutes so I may be tired from the interruptions to my nap!

Jazzy--looks like fun! I swear I'm going to take salsa lessons one of these days

And Sas--you better get your phone line fixed just to call 911 if you're going to be falling down anymore

Thanks mags. Wish I could put it in the topic box, but they're is no room:(

    -------------------------------

Well I managed to get myself in trouble by 5:45 AM. Called the cable company on DBF's phone. We got the phone fixed. I tested for a ring by dialing 911. Rang once and hung up. I didn't think the enhanced 911 system could/would grab the call that fast. It did. They called. Explained it was a misdial. Then they called back in about 10 minutes.. I fessed up and told them what I had done. The Ems operator said "We're just required to make sure everything is okay. They're is a sheriffs car out front can you go to the gate and talk to the officer."  A bit embarrassing to say the least. Won't do that again.

    --------

All, Patty's okay, taking a break.

    --------

Wren the cable fix---they had me take the battery out and unplug the modem. I unplugged it before, but I didn't take the battery out--this was a first. So it will be in the to do list if it happens again.

Where's Loverly? Jwoo? Frenchfrye? Mel? Rosie?

Paws, I had a liver thing that a CT caught. The follow-up was a liver MRI. They did two over 6 months. Decided it was a hemangioma and stopped following. The odd thing is hemangioma's can be real trouble if they bleed. So, why isn't it being followed? Well the last time I went in I forgot to ask, to much else going on. Frankly, I forgot about it till your post. Have they tried MRI after CT. It's tricky cause you have to hold your breath for 20 seconds at a time, without many breaths in between. MRI does give better imaging of liver.

Dutchy, Very funny picture and TRUE

I guess I'm just gonna have to go over there and supervise her. And maybe manage to fall in the pool, instead of on concrete!!!!

You have to be careful with 911 operators! When the wet massive oak tree across the street partially broke off an enormous branch about 10 inches in diameter and 25 ft long that was dangling across the intersection, I called 911. The operator yelled at me! "This is an emergency line!" she roared. I said we live right up from an elementary school with 500 kids and a highschool 1/2 mile away with 900+! School would let out shortly. If it fell on someone, it would kill them. A police car came out shortly after and then a tree company. geezzz.

Sassy you need one of those emergency buttons to wear around your neck! Unreliable phone and electronics and too many falls to keep you safe. I remember one winter morning my goofy Grandmother had washed her hair and laid down on the carpet in front of the patio doors in the sun to dry it. One of the neighbors apparently could see her and came over hysterical.. thought she had fallen and was laid out on the floor! Nope just sunning herself on the floor like a cat!

Rose- a fallen tree is an emergency as it puts people at risk. When I lived back east, during a wet late spring snow storm, the tree in the front yard of the house where I was living snapped off and went down on a passing car. The limbs took the power lines down and trapped a car. I heard the snap and then a car horn and when I looked out the window, I thought "OMG." I called 911 and the police, fire, utility company, etc. were there in a heartbeat. The person in the car was not hurt and they freed them up to go on their way (that was not a good start to anyone's day). The limb snapped because there was a HUGE beehive inside. Then we had the bees to deal with. I think you did the right thing Rose.

Rosie, what a hoot about your GM. Maybe she was a cat in another life time. I had a whole house system alarm that included the neck and bracelet alerts. The lightening strike early this year knocked out the system. The company wanted 500.00 to fix it or extend the contract 3 years. Extortion. I still have to pay on the contract till October. Lesson don't sign a contract.  Rosie your right I need something. I'll put it on my list. ....................You were absolutely right on your EMS call operator was wrong. My call to them this morning was not just testing the line. After Monday's fall when the phone went out Thursday I was concerned. Wish I had remembered that this morning when I was talking to the operator and sheriff. UGH. Hell I used to teach about enhanced 911.

My mom had a help I've fallen button. It was hooked on to her land line. That was about 20 years ago, not much use if the phone craps out. Maybe technology has improved since then. Something to check into before signing up.

Yes, you need one that can "sense" when you fall, like if you fall on your head, and can't push your button. Theresa and Eddie each had one, but they didn't help, if they were out in their yard....

One time Theresa was in the tub, and could NOT get out! It's funny now, but not at the time.... Old Eddie could not pull her out, so he called 911....!

So there she was.... in all her nekked glory, and these HANDSOME Firemen came to the rescue! Hah! I would have up and died! THAT was when their Son made them get an emergency bracelet.... I still tease her about that.

AND I just put together my official exercise bike!

    image

My Doc thought it would exercise my hip better than walking.... And I got on it for maybe 2 minutes! Hah!

It folds up, and has wheels, so I can put it anywhere I want.... I'll do it in the mornings when it isn't 110 degrees out.

as a 911 operator, trees on the road are an emergency! Some could crash into that tree. And Sas, the E911 system will pick up even if you hang up before it rings...

Chevy, At the last house, Dh and I kept watch on a widow neighbor allot like Theresa. She calls one day and had trouble getting out of her bathroom. She wasn't hurt, but I forget exactly. She refused to let me call EMS, wanted us to just come in however we could. Everything was locked. I looked at the casement windows. With a ladder I pulled the window down from the top---that's half right. except it was still pretty high. I then had to swing a leg up and over. Lordy, now I won't get on a ladder. We got a key and had a talk.

Marley, I know better than what I did. Seriously, I wanted to know I could access 911. Falls suck. They sap confidence of movement. My stupid right ankle has been responsible for 2-3 dozen falls at this point since early high school. Lost count years ago. About 8-9 have included head injuries. All my joints hyperextend. I have so many friggen rules about movement. The problem is I keep having to add more rules. Spookie's suggestion about creating a ramp with concrete. LOL, I've had two falls associated with sidewalk ramps. Uneven surface. Nemesis

One was at The Orlando Arena. Right ankle turned>>>>forward fall>>.both wrists & both knees>>head injury.  This Risk Management guy asks me to come back and meet him at the fall site.  All the curb side wheelchair ramps at every corner in sight are cordoned off with tape and cones. They were all being painted white. He interviews me for 20 minutes or so. Turns a tape recorder on and starts with  " Mrs S for the record we have never talked before and I am interviewing you about the alleged fall". My response "No we've never talked except for all the questions you just asked me about the fall" He wasn't happy. Then he asks me to stand where the fall happened. He takes my picture. DUH, if I did want to sue. Those pictures didn't make his case, they would have made mine.

So, It's been a busy 2 days.......couldn't do anything except scroll. Worked on a burn injury and got way into a newbies concerns about surgery being a busybody. The gal with the burn injury, I'm sure she's into a contact dermatitis from bacitracin. But I'm not a doc etc...........I so need to go back to work..............

Marlana- I have to ask you. Two of my kids are non verbal deaf. If they call 911 and say nothing (of course) will they send someone out to the house? We have cell phones no land line, although the one number is strictly for the house two sets of phones. Will they be able to get the address? I have my disabled daughter registered with the police, photo ID description, disability etc. Love that program, she was the 5th person signed up!

Thank you for agreeing with my decision to call 911. I thought the operator was harsh, but maybe she had had a bunch of serious calls and mine was like zip.. in comparison. I would think being a 911 operator would be stressful.

I think they would Rose. My cell did something stupid by itself and called 911. They answered. I didn't know it. A few min later I got a call back, are you ok? Yes, I'm fine, are you sure? So if DD didn't speak, but kept the line open, I'm sure they would scramble.
