Good morning, all. Another hot, humid day here but it could be worse. Like a hurricane headed our way, for example. If all goes well, we will be departing Friday and heading to more comfortable temperatures in MN.
This morning I hope to get some cleaning done and make some more trips out to the camper transporting items. The plan is to have lunch with my mother and sister today. Yesterday my mother had new carpet installed in her two bedrooms, which are adjacent. It looks very nice and she is thrilled. She had lived with the old carpet for many years and really disliked it.
Wishing everyone the best possible day under whatever circumstances exist.

Good morning everyone,
Carole, I hope your weather holds and not too much of any storms before you leave. The weather in general ( one of our favorite topics here ) seems to really be un-settling in so many places this year and it is fairly early. Will be nice for you Carole to have your get-away to a state that is more tolerable in summer. I do think the winters in MN are fairly dicey -- maybe I'd move there and go to LA for the winter.
We are hanging on here to our no rain pattern. Well, I think that is due to change. They guys were here and got the tree down yesterday. Made me happy. I had begun to fear a bit after seeing the tree in town just uproot out of the wet ground. Not sure I had to worry THAT much. Ours only had a very, very slight few leaves -- nothing that could make it top-heavy -- but as much as that I did worry about wind as well. Our parking area looks sort of bare now. I'm hoping at some point to be able to start parking back in the garage -- but that would not come until after Fall if then. I'm hoping Dh will get serious about his garage clean-up project though it does need to be cooler. It is sort of un-believable that we have a 4-car garage ( though you'd have to park one car behind the other on each side ) and no room for cars in it. What is wrong with this picture Dh ????Eh !!!!!! Sigh --- I could take charge but then I'd be in real trouble -- the other two times I did this it got a little heavy around here for awhile. I took everything out of the garage and let Dh put it all back --- in better places.
By the way, I forgot to say that I loved the graphic about still being able to get into the earrings you wore in high school. That is about it for me. The only thing I can say is that as far as I know --- some of the IN gals in high school are shall we say blessed with a lot more poundage as well. In fact, though I didn't go to our last reunion.....I think it possible though that a couple of them have more on them than I. But I have to say ---- I was taller than most of them so I can carry a lot more before I get described as pudgy or something akin to that. I've adjusted to my girth and it is not so bad though I do constantly watch so that it tends to decrease --- even if very slowly instead of increase. I would like to dump about 25 more pounds some time, but there are more compelling things on my list -- like getting things closer to how I want and need them to be inside here at home -- and thinning out some of my outdoor storage as well.
Hope you all have a really great day.
Blessings,
Jackie

Hi to everyone here on this thread...I only have 13 pages to read....so not sure what I have missed.
End of the school year is always hectic (mid May) then another month of work. I traveled to Dayton OH to see my brother - I had not been there in 17 years and only saw him at weddings and funerals. We had a great time visiting some hiking trails and beautiful parks.
I traveled to Connecticut for my grandson's elementary school moving up day...then off to Chicago to visit my son there. We had a great visit. Now that summer is here, I am having a string of house guests (kids & grandkids).
Meanwhile, we are having central AC installed this week. It is a big job that entails every room and attic and basement.
I lost some closet space so have to make room for the displaced items.I really liked your quotation this morning about "losing" the people who bring us to not so great places...life is too short.
I do hope I can keep up here.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.0 -
Joan, So happy to hear from you and that all is well. Central AC will be worth the disruption.

I second the statement that it's good to hear from you, Joan. Sounds like you've been having some very meaningful experiences.
Today was another busy day. More trips back and forth between the house and the camper. Most of the food that is making the trip with us is in the camper freezer, refrigerator, or cabinets. Most of the clothes and shoes and other necessaries are stowed in their places. With any luck, we should be on the road by 9 am tomorrow.
Psychologically I'm ready to make the transition between life in the land house and life in the camper home.
Jackie, I can empathize with your relief at the removal of the dead tree that posed a possible threat to your house.
Hello to everyone and hugs as well.

Puffin, So very sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Blondie, enjoy your time with your family in florida
Carole, have a safe trip and enjoy your travels
Joan, enjoy all your visitors
We had three of our gd with us this past weekend. Ages 6,5, and 1 yr. They are so much fun and I love having them here but am so tired when the weekend is over. The baby was cutting teeth (about 5 coming in at one time) so I was up with her a few times during the night. We decided to take them to a restaurant close by for dinner on Saturday night.(not sure how this would go) They were so good and we enjoyed the meal with them. The baby was so good and happy even while cutting her teeth. But I was early to bed Monday night.
Hope everyone is enjoying this week

God has not destined us to be rich, diseaseless, and deathless, but has given us trials, in the form of poverty, disease, the death of our friends and of ourselves—for the very purpose of teaching us to center our lives not in wealth, health, and this temporary existence, but in serving him. And he has given us foes not in order that we should desire their ruin, but that we should learn to overcome them by love. He has given us a law of such a nature that it is always well with us if we fulfill it. -Leo Tolstoy

Sitting here this a.m. while a dandy storm with lightning and thunder pour loads of water on us. Knew it was coming --- I think it will be an interesting day. It will dry later, but I'm not sure when. Dh goes to work today, and as he has his truck in the shop -- transmission rebuild, I will take him to work. I don't have anything pressing to do, but the minute the weather cle3ars I can get out and do the feral cats.
Termite, it is great when things work out well with the grannies. I think it is one of those things when you attend "something" and because you didn't put any kind of negative energy there --- it turns out almost perfect. We had that happen the first yr. we moved back home here. Had a little family reunion in the park not far from us. The weather was perfect ( though normally sort of hot that time of yr. ), the people were perfect, talkative, happy and smiling, the food was delicious and the afterglow of the afternoon while the men played games just enveloped everyone while a cool breeze played through the air.
I'm glad it went so well. Hope you get plenty of rest though. We need it after doing wee ones for a concentrated stretch. Heck, I think we need it after doing a concentrated stretch of anything, don't we ????
Joan -- you will love that new a/c. I don't know how we got along all the yrs. of growing up without it --- but there are not many homes here now that don't have it. Of course, back then we were all tougher I guess. The parents were young as well as the kids. I don't think we even had a fan -- but the weather ( even if it were not so good ) seemed a little more predictable ) then and now you can't figure much of anything. Enjoy, enjoy. Your vacation time sounds like it started out with a bang and will just keep ongoing with lots of activities.
Anyway, hope all will have a good day today. As well that things go well for any travelers. See you all later.
Blessings,
Jackie

Joan and Shsuf...so glad to hear from you!
Termite....I understand that tired feeling when the grandkids leave! I have had my youngest grandson here for the week and I was not used to the 24-7 routine of a six year old. He left to head back to Tennessee this morning and I must admit that I am drained. Today seems like a good catch-up day to recoup a bit. We had a great time inspite of the rainy weather but I know now why we have our children when we are younger!!!
Carole, Travel safely and have a great time. I hope you have good weather on your trip.
Puffin....I am so sorry for your loss. A death in the family is always SO hard and so emotional regardless of the circumstances. Hugs to you and your family!
Blondie...so glad you are doing well now. I hope you have a fabulous Florida trip!
Chevy, we have things to paint at our house, too but it's pretty hard to get it done with rain nearly everyday. My porch is top priority here. We removed the old boards and put down all new and have just been waiting for the weather report to show a couple of clear days so we can paint.
Well I'm going to get moving and head out to do a few errands in hopes of beating the rain!

Morning all,
Puffin, so sorry for your loss.
Sorry I haven't been posting much, but it is a hard transition from being taken care of to caretaker, and head of household. Got to see Tracy's repaired ankle incision for the first time last night. My son, who works in an ER was supposed to come over after work to change the dressing, and check the wound for any signs of infection, but he ended up having to work till 11pm. Thank God, our neighbor is the head of the emergency room, and he came over and did it for us. From now on, it will be my job to change it every 2 days. The incision itself looks very clean and tidy, but a lot longer than I expected- about 5 inches long. She is doing ok, starting to wean off the Percocet, and getting pretty good at driving the wheelchair.
But, in addition to taking care of her I am now totally responsible for all cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping and everything else that goes into running a house. Being a full time working mother, Tracy doesn't have time to organize areas people don't normally see, like pantrys and cabinets. Only being here part time, and not being in charge of cooking, the disorganization didn't bother me. Now that I am in charge, I need to know what we have and where it is. So I have spent part of each day re- organizing the kitchen. Not moving where things are but just putting veggies with veggies, snacks with snacks, etc. I am doing a little each day, but I am beyond exhausted. I have pretty much done the kitchen. What's left is the cabinets in the garage- and with temps being in the upper 90's each day, I just haven't gotten the courage to get out there.
Added to that, my son flies back to So. Carolina this afternoon, and leaves So Carolina tomorrow afternoon (after Lucia's birthday party there) to drive his wife and daughter down here by Sun afternoon so he can be back at camp Mon morning. We will then be having her birthday party here at my house next Sun. I am taking him to the airport today. Then tomorrow night, Tim's fiancé has planned a surprise 30th birthday party for him at a restaurant in their neighborhood. I'm all for it, but it doesn't start till 8. I am usually in my PJs by then. And either Wed or Thurs, Nancy and her family arrive for a week. Good news is that when Robs wife is in town, they stay with her mom, so that clears a room for Nancy & Scott. Someone suggested that my 10 and 6 yr old stay here the whole time Nancy is here because they were so close before Nancy moved. I don't know how excited they are about Nancy being here, but being able to spend a whole week at Grandma's? Wow, it doesn't get any better.
Add to all this that our land line and dryer both broke this week. I have gone from being a bored lady of leisure to a chicken with my head cut off. Reality is, other than feeling exhausted, I'm loving it. I have a purpose again. Most of my pain is in my hips and legs and I think that is because I have had to buy new sandals this summer and I can't find any with the right heel, and trust me I have looked. I am having Nancy bring me the ones I usually leave there when she comes.
Hope you all have a good weekend, whatever your plans are

Wow, Anne. I am sorry that you have so much dumped in your lap not actually ever having expected things to go that way. Sounds like there is not much wrong with your organizational skills. You seem to recognize what will most benefit you in all this "new" endeavor. I'm not sure that I could deal with even a small portion of what you are doing. I just have myself and Dh ( though a boat-load of furries on the plate ) and our house in the woods and I seem in-capable of making the headway I want too here though I have improved. Still isn't saying about me what I'd like to hear or be able to say.
Well, just think ---- if anyone of us were within distance of you we'd be coming to the rescue giving you a hand. I'm off to feed the feral cats -- running a bit late from the major pour-down this a.m. Looks like it could do it again --- but hoping it is just mainly clouds. The sun has been out for a bit. Will stay much cooler if a bit on the humid side. See you all later.

Sunshine today! YAY! We have had so much rain that flash floods have roared through our area, closing roads and golf courses, as well as most other outside activities. At least the sun in out today and I don't have to run errands in the rain! We moved our grass last weekend and haven't been able to mow all week with the rainy conditions. I'm not sure it will be dry enough to even mow today. If we can't get to it soon, we will need to bale it!
Oh Anne, I am so sorry that you have all these additionals tasks and burdens on your shoulders right now. Wow! Hang in there! Sending big hugs to you!
Everyone enjoy your day!

The true Light is a gentle love which, rising in you, causes you to look on the world with understanding and compassion and respect. When you respect the souls of your brother and sister, you respect their lives in every way. This gentle spirit, this respect one for another, must come. For this is the generation of the one true Light, and this true light is that of love.

We too have sunshine today Rita. There could be an errant shower or so, but nothing to get excited about. That is good. It poured several times yesterday. Each time I thought it done --- and sometimes hours in-between it would come again --- very fast, furious and hard. After dark I quit watching for it or listening. By then, most of the fans were on ( door closed with a/c ready to come on if needed ) and I mainly heard them making their little whirring noises. We set them in several places in the house mainly for good air circulation rather than "cooling" us.
I work tonight --- no one wanted to go out and do anything with all the water ( and maybe more ) that was presenting yesterday. Other than a little work, laundry, and some minor things I really don't have much planned today. So far, it is cool enough that we don't need the a/c on. If the sun creates too much infrared heat we will have to turn it on but otherwise the temps are going to stay in the low 70's today ---- yay !!!! I've done pretty good with the heat this yr. so far, but it is early. Still I was kind of surprised.
Sure hope Sandra and Mike, Cammie, Mimi, and Carole and hubby traveling are fine. Waving hi to Joan and Puffin --- do hope things are moving all right for you and your family. You are all in my thoughts today and hoping there is a little sunshine for all of you too.
Blessings,
Jackie

Good morning. Yesterday's sunshine went byebye. Just waiting for the rain to start! It's quite cool this morning. So far we haven't used our portable A/C very much at all. When we need it , it works quite well, have it in our bed room, where we also have the TV and our recliners. I like it because I can remove the exhaust from the window when not in use, or we go out. Our windows are all on ground level, whch can be a security issue.
Started the morning off with blood work I had to have before A CT on Monday, to see if the PE I got in December is resolved, so I can get off of Coumadin. Has anyone ever had to have kidney function blood work before a CT, I haven't and have had a few CT's! They said it has to do with the contrast dye.
Been following the Gluten Free diet, which seems to be helping my IBS. Found some gluten free stuff that's good and some, such as the pizza I had yesterday at my Red Hatters lunch, are yuk! Wud like to find a really good GF bread.
Think of you all, especially those going through difficult times.

Bonnets, They made me get a kidney test before doing my MRI. Said it was because of the contrast. I know what you mean about gluten free being hit or miss.

Bonnets...I went back to Aldi's after you told me that your friend had found some decent gluten-free bread there. I bought a little loaf called Live G Free, white whole grain and it's not bad. It's not soft and fluffy like the bread we are used to eating but it stays together good when making grilled cheese sandwiches and is good toasted. I now have toast with my eggs and can make a BLT with it. It's the best I have found. Most of the others have fallen apart on me. I am glad that the gluten free diet is helping you. Thanks for the tip on the bread.

Rita, I found the Udi's Hamburger buns were a bit softer,G Free wraps at Aldis that I like too.

Bonnets - I had regular 6 mos full blood work before my last CT w/contrast but had to wait an hour for test results before the CT. When I asked why, I was told that my clinic requires kidney results on everyone over 60 before the procedure.

Hi to all. Day 2 of travel to north MN brought us to Bowling Green, MO, north of St. Louis. It was pleasant today, less humid and about 80 degrees. We hope to drive through Iowa and into MN tomorrow. Our goal is to arrive at our destination on Mon.
Hope the rainy weather tapers off for those getting too much rain.

Good to hear from you Carole -- glad your trip seems to be progressing ok. We had a really nice day here in Illinois as well. In the 70's with a nice breeze. I'd really love summer if we could have a bit more of that.
Just got home from work and it's 10 p.m. Need to wash up, jump in jammies, and eat a big bowl of popcorn. See you all in the morning
Jackie.

Thank you for “welcoming me back” from being away….the ladies here are very special and Jackie, you set such a warm and welcoming tone
each day. Thanks!Carole, I am glad that after your ordeal with your foot that you are on the road again. You deserve it. (I never knew there is a Bowling Green
MO.) Have a safe and peaceful trip.Puffin, I am also sorry to hear of your recent loss. We are never truly prepared...
Ritajean & termite, you described it well….that feeling after the grandkids leave. I have my two active grandsons here until Monday. Our
weather is not very good but we managed to go fishing today on our boat (2 fish caught, one disappointed grandkid), then shopping in town for Tshirts and bakery treats, and dinner at an outdoor café … then home to get in pjs and watch a 3D movie. Whew! I am tired…
I had my 2 grandaughters last week overnight and what a difference having busy boys. The AC we installed is great. But temps dropped and today we ran the heat for an hour to get the chill off the house.
The heavy rain arrived tonight.Chevy, you never stop! Painting the fence, the house….I’m inspired…
Yesterday I had to finish clearing a large area of bushes for the AC units, and I used a small chain saw for the first
time. I think I will systematically trim up the yard which is totally out of control.Anne, you have taken on a lot – sending positive thoughts & a hug for you.
Glad to hear the sun’s been shining in Illinois…we usually get your weather in a day or two.

I am in harmony with God's beautiful world. A summer bouquet may include an
assortment of flowers in a rainbow of colors. The variety makes the whole bouquet
even more beautiful. I realize I am one flower in the wondrous bouquet of humanity.
Without judging or comparing myself to others, I enjoy the unique beauty in all of us.
I am a divine expression of God and so is everyone else. As I value our commonalities
and our differences, I experience harmony. I relax into knowing that I am loved and
that I have a unique contribution to make. As I learn to love myself, I am at peace--
with myself and others. Living in peace, I am in harmony with God's beautiful world.unattributed

Good morning. Pretty here and cool again as well. What's not to like. Just glad that the rain stayed elsewhere ??? though I'm not real sure just where . We may get an errant shower or so --- sounded like late in the day here --- almost evening. So far it has sure been a wet yr. You get what you get though. I just would like to think people are getting some dry out time -- just like we have here.
In view of the recent Supreme Court rulings as well as my overall strong liking -- I chose today's quote. We need diversity which I feel helps us so much to appreciate that we ALL have differences. How boring and stultifying if we were all the same. Then again, as most know, I've always felt that we are here to "grow" spiritually and would not really do it if we were the same. We learn most about ourselves and others when the going is tough. When we have to reach deep inside to find the best answer we can. I am happy with most of my "answers" -- but not because they were always great. They weren't, but each one defines you a little more and helps you get closer. So, sometimes the less then perfect answers, even some of the lousy ones help set you on a course of striving to develop what is ultimately something you can be really ok with while you 'grow' some more.
Lots of things to do today, but I have to say -- relaxing is way up on that list. For some reason ( maybe rain and storms ) I'm feeling like I need a little ho-hum time. I did keep up with most of the normal load and a couple small other things -- so we will see how it goes. We do plan some movie time, some time today. It has been a long time since we "watched" a home movie. I think maybe we may want to put that on the list of what you may want to make time for. I have always loved, loved, loved to read and always had a lot of books. When I was diagnosed and doing tx. my concentration was so poor I just pretty much quit --- and for some reason it is now difficult ( impossible so far ) for me to pick up a book and get through it. So, I'm thinking maybe we will do more movies while I try to figure out getting through a book......and I use to be able to read two or three per week.
Hope you are all going to have a great Sunday.
Blessings,
Jackie
