susan. - I think 2nd = Maddie still lurks. I talk to her regularly and she like o many of us has her hands full. I bet she will love that we missed her ( don't we all went to feel an important part of our community). I also think (not sure) she would probably like some PM's from some of us letting her know she was mussed and valued.
2nd - hope I am not stepping on your toes 😀

Hi lovely ladies! I had a busy 4th. Took my parents out to brunch, then had to sell fireworks for our girls' swim team from 4-10 pm. This is our biggest fundraiser for the team. It was fun but very tiring. I am not sure why the city allowed fireworks this year with the drought here in California. Marlana, I was thinking about how busy you guys would be. I heard quite a few sirens while I was out at the stand.
Susan, speed reading doesn't work for me either. Good thing I have my "intelligent" phone with me most of the time so I can tune in every few hours to lurk and then when I get a chance I respond. I miss 2nd posting too, especially on W & F. 2nd, I love your wacky sense of humor.
Jazzy, bummer about your car. Sorry your fun weekend was ruined by a careless and dishonest person. You are right it could have been worse. Materials can be replaced or fixed and people not so much.
HI1, hope you are settling in your new place. I can't imagine being a child of LA police officer. I think I would always worry when he/she not coming home when expected.
Ms, Chevy, thank you for the video. It was a treat for my eyes and ears. Love the music they play along with the fireworks. At lunch today, I asked my family " As a Christian what do you do when someone you know is gay?" My 17 year old said " You treat and love them like anyone else?" I could not be more proud of her. I agree with Ms. Sas- you just hug and love the person. It is not for us to judge. For those of us who believe in a Creator, we will one day face Him and give our accounts to Him. None of us are perfect.
Patty, have a wonderful time with your big Sis. What a wonderful sister you have!!! Sad she was forced to grow up at such a young age.
Ms. Blondie, Wednesday is around the corner. Hope your stomach behaves.
Welcome Newly!!
Ms. Sass, Yay for fixed computer! You have been overworking the computer again?
Rose, none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. Sounds like you had a good time with family. Hugs
Need to go to bed. Otherwise, I will be sleeping at work

loverly glad you enjoyed your busy day. Loved the pic- so peaceful. Had to look at pic then close my eyes and imagine I am there. I can hear all the little animal's moving around and singing. I smell the fresh flowers. I can almost reach out and hug one of those trees. And I can only imagine that the path is going to end at a beautiful lake. Love the pics you post

Beautiful photos Lover O'Life (I've changed your name to the Irish spelling!). Yeah, busy, busy, busy and a few little vegetation fires from the fireworks.
Rose--yeah, I'm on the 3rd week after treatment which is when I start feeling good again, just in time for another round. And I'm so high up on the seniority list (#3 of 26) that I have a pretty good choice. The last few years, I've picked a shift working Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and 8 hours every other Wednesday because it gets me both Thanksgiving and Christmas off. 2013 (18 years in) was the first time in my career that I had both holidays off. I volunteered for the 4th this year at the last minute because I was feeling okay. I'm actually feeling a little guilty about not working a lot of overtime because summers are crazy with mandated overtime which I'm not subject to right now so I've been picking up a few hours here and there as I feel able. Plus, I can bank the time so I'm not using so much sick leave.
Jazzy -- I'm pretty much living off of frozen dinners and my bi-weekly produce box, mostly juicing and adding frozen fruit into the mix!
Hi, Susan, Holeinone and Blondie!

well I didn't even get a wink of sleep last night. Between the excitement and the pain I just couldn't get to sleep. Pain pill usually makes me sleepy but last night it didn't control the pain and it amped me up. Still is pain but not unbearable. Fixin to try another immediate relief pain pill and also my reg scheduled extended release pain pill. Gonna lay down and hope for sleep. Certainly don't wasn't to be to tired to stay up when they get here around 1.
Hugs all around. Hope all have a pain and nausea free day.

Love all you gals! I read each and every one of you.... and listen to your comments! I guess I just have to wait, until someone says something, if they will, about him.... I could ask my Daughter that lives here, because if anyone would know, she would. I wonder if they think I would not accept him like I do?
On the other hand I wouldn't want to SHOCK her by asking about.... WAIT...! Maybe I could just say something like "Is he dating anybody now?" Or does he just think it is too much trouble dating those girls?" I could say "Maybe he's gay like what's-her-names brother!" Like it's no big deal!!
Or maybe I should just quit thinking about it... I just wish I could hug him like I used to, and re-assure him that I love him always the same....
Unless of course he winds up with some pole-dancer/stripper and marries the tramp..... Then I would not be happy...

Rosie and "our" Rosie are different... Ha! My Rosie is from Viet Nam... and she met our Daughter over 35 years ago, by working at the same store!
But she is like "Our other Daughter from another Mother." She came over here in 1973, because her Mother told her to leave their "house" because she lied or something.... And tied her up on a pole in front of their house naked, to embarress her when was 11. She was homeless, but a Soldier said he would adopt her, and brought her to the U.S.... Her life changed .... So many things went on in some of those countries.... It was really shameful.
But she later got married, then divorced, went to work for Kings, and met Janie... And to this DAY I have a hard time understanding her... Hah! But we are her other Mom & Dad... She is just like another Daughter... Always caring, and sweet, and would do anything for us....
We were at her Wedding to Jim... Janie was her Maid of Honor...! That was about 30 years ago...
This was for Father's Day... and little Rosie!
Man, that just makes me SICK about your head-light Jazzy! You need a base-ball bat... just in case you see who did it! I know that could happen anywhere though...
Beautiful photo's Loverly! I think I told you, VoThi Twyet Hong was Rosie's name... I have yours around here someplace too! For some reason they have never had children... and I never asked... BUT, ever since I have known her, she love Cockers! Has every one of their ashes in a special place. Their "Cosmo" is the rescue dog that has bit DH twice.... He doesn't MEAN too, but he was beat before she got him... and he had to fight for his food, and his own bed... We used to watch him when they went away, but I think DH gets the heebie-jeebies thinking of him coming back here.... Ha!

Chevy, thanks or clearing that up

Great pic loveroflife....my daughter swam from age 7 through college. Reading that brought back many memories. Tuff sport to watch. All weekend long and they are in the water for such a short bit of time. I used to tell Claire to swim slower so I could see her more. She doesn't always think I am funny
. So I actually became an official so I could keep busy. College wouldn't let me, go figure, I guess they take it more seriously. Lol so I would run the track when she wasn't swimming. My body aches if I sit to long. Those were fun times. Have a great day all. I am going for a bike ride with a friend. Found a great trail 10 minutes from the house

Morning Owlies, A nice breezy loving post to you all has gone to the netherworld. Just dropped Shats off at vets. I have decided to take her on my road trip to Tampa. Worried she will chew out her sutures and it's near an artery. She won't tolerate a cone. Not sure if I will tell Steve. He's getting to be such a fizzbudget. If he comes home and finds her with me, he will get over it in a few minutes.
Blondie, Two days YAY. Southwest airline baggage @ 11:00 am. Please, talk to that tummy and explain we don't have time for it to be upset.
Marley, ohhh fuzzies. I couldn't believe how many people wanted to touch my head when I was bald and when the hair was growing back in. It was like all the people that touched my belly when I was prego. Odd. DH and I had a pic when we were both bald from chemo which was also odd. .........Marley did I suggest the Hot Flash forum. The first 30 pages, we did some good work. I faded out after that b/c I was having my crani and recovery. A non-medical thingy that made my life easier was I kept flat sheets and pillow cases in the bedroom. When either Greg or I flashed, I could change the sheets and cases in a flash. I didn't use fitted sheets b/c it took longer and more strength. I still just use flat sheets. Works surprisingly well. I don't even tuck them. It works even better if the flat sheet is one or two sizes bigger than the bed. Eventually, I cleaned out space in each bedroom for the linens for that room. Lot's easier to locate each beds linens. That freed up space in the main linen closet. Now the main linen closet is filled with glass.
Loverly, lovely dreamy pics. The path reminds me of riding horseback on Mackinaw Island in upstate Michigan. I went off the beaten main track into a non tourist area. It was like going back in time. Surreal. ..... The computer never recovered from that whirlwind day on the weight thread. Then just progressively shut down Sun am. My tech buddy gotter fixed. Now it's really working well. ....Can you post pics of the DD's
When I worked the OR in the 70's about a third of the staff was gay. No one cared. We all just were one big happy family.
An old musing by Woody Allen was "Being bisexual doubles your chances of a Saturday night date".
Susan you forgot me.............
Patty, I talk to Maddy too, but not as frequently as we used too. She's just so busy trying to keep up with stuff.

Spookie, no cell. Could make things interesting. Blondie Pm'd me her cell. She was going to Pm it to you too.
Patty & Susan, you each should be getting a Fed -ex box Wed. What's fun about these is they are the most decadent brownies in the world. They're 6 brownies in the box--two each of Killer Brownies & Raspberry Suicides, one each of nutty Peanut Butter Krazy & Killer Blondie. I suggest that you cut each in 4 pieces. That way everyone get's to taste each type. One mouthful is an overdose of delight. They might even last a couple three days LOL. Best at room temperature versus cold. Room temperature, you will taste all the flavors to the max. I was just going to do the Killer Brownies, but this is a first taste. If it says anything about the specialness of these taste treats, they have their own extension number for ordering. Westpoint Market in Akron Ohio has been in business for 80 years. They have been making the brownies since 1981.
On a typical trip to this store, you go through the gift shop first. Then through each section with taste treats at each. Wine with a trained steward (usually several different types for tasting)>>>cheeses(usually at least 1/2 dozen set out for tasting) >>>fruits>>deli>>bakery >>>meats, with hors d'oeuvres while waiting>>>>then chocolates and ice cream>>>then check out. It was a very social place
It wasn't a place to buy tp. Many stores do a variation on this now. Russ Vernon started this decades before anyone else. Awards galore. On trips back to Akron, it was always on the list for visiting. Enjoy

Marley, and Jazzy---Juciers. My dad was into juicing in the 60's. He was considered nutty for doing it. We had to have a 12 oz. glass each day and a salad. Otherwise he set no restrictions. He had a restaurant. We would go through the restaurant each morning to catch the bus out front. He would have the juice made. The basic would always be carrot juice. Most often mixed with celery. Variations of the mix were apple, cabbage, beets. Sometimes all together. One time on a Sunday drive he picked alfalfa from a field.--not good. I hated it then, would love to have to have it handed to me today.
His other nutty things were 1.shoes and mats that had surfaces that were textured to stimulate the feet, commonly known as reflexolgy. Foot massage. 2.Vinegar, red pepper, and salt for gargling for a sore throat. I end up finding the recipe in a folklore medicine book that was several hundred years old. 3.Chiropractic, worth their weight in gold when they have the skill. 4. enemas--he didn't win on that one. 5. Vegetables.
Dad could turn the conversation to his pet topics quickly. My two brothers, twin, and I all had non verbal signals to do diversion when new people were around. Now all that stuff is mainstream.
I still do the reflexology thing with the Brookstone foot massager, and the V, R,& S for a sore throat. Juicing just couldn't keep up with.
In high school my twin never broke the curfew rules. I would sit in front of the house until it was after the set time, to intentionally break the rule. The only time I got grounded, was when Dad caught me pouring the carrot juice down the drain. He felt that strong about us getting it..... When twin and I would bring a new beau around, we'd warn them that dad would give them a glass. Some you would think they died during the test.

Marley, I thought of your boys when I saw this. I can just imagine them deciding to eat the bed.

Good morning ladies- my, my, you gals are busy this morning on this thread. I am glad to hear Loveroflife had a good weekend, that some people are getting brownies, that others are preparing for Ms. Blondie's arrival. I am hoping everyone is recovering from the long weekend and has a good week ahead!
Loveroflife- we have been in a drought situation here for years, but with more rains the past year, they lifted the ban on some of the fireworks for sale here so when I drove home from an evening of music for the 4th, I could not believe how many people were setting off fireworks around my part of town. The rule is nothing higher than 10 feet off the ground, but I saw plenty of that. I still heard fireworks last night and don't doubt there will be more going on this week. Some people really dig fireworks, me not so much. I am surprised to hear they are doing fireworks in Cali.
Blondie- I am sorry your tummy is not feeling good. I hope things are better before you head out on Wed. Time to have a chat with your body. I do that when I have to do something or go somewhere and my GI tract is acting up.
2ndtime- I hope you are hanging in there and know you have some big challenges on your plate with your family issues, elder care responsibilities, etc. If you are lurking, know we love you and enjoy hearing from you. Sometimes I lurk too......
Patty- I am going to make some quiches today, including one with the wild spinach I got yesterday at the farmers market. I tasted some today raw and it is mild as the woman mentioned it would be. I just googled wild spinach and learned quite a bit about this type of green and going to try it with some different dishes this week.

I am getting some things done here at home, still waiting for a new contract to execute for some new work I was awarded recently, and cooking today! I plan to get to the gym today too!
Wishing everyone a good day......

Jazzy-spinach quiche is a favorite around here! My kids LOVE it. Yum. Let us know how wild spinach fairs. Congrads on the contract and feeling good.
Re- forest fire up near our cabin has doubled in size to 70 acres and is only 15% contained. Route 22 is open. They have 24 hour fire coverage and 120 people on the fire. I knew it would be a bad season and it is. Thank goodness they can dip into the water at the lake makes this easier then some locations. Fingers crossed they get the upper hand.
Hey Susan glad you are feeling well, nice to see you drop in. I asked for another paracentesis.. dump another load off. Instant relief. So fun that Sassy and Spookie and Blondie will meet finally. I do hope you have a super visit. Patty sounds like you had a good weekend with your men!
Howdies to all I missed.

So DD and grands should be in Denver by now. She was freaking out this am about the temps there. 70 this high today, pleasant all week. Sounds good!
My car had a bad battery! Apparently I was very lucky to get it there, it died on the lot and they had to jump it to get to service area. Less than 15k on it. Covered by warrenty. I really thought it was the computer. So glad, would not want to get stuck in Tampa with a dead car

oh my gosh......how could I ever forget sasssssssssssss.....so sorry.....I will unpat myself right now:(
Had a nice bike ride. Went 14 miles on the path. Got back to the car and the skies opened up. Just missed riding in a downpour. Whewwwww
Hope all are feeling well today

Susan- the bike ride sounds great. I started riding my bike again recently, but then stopped and need to get back to it. Like you, I may have to dodge some evening showers from time to time!

Spookie,Yay, disaster averted. LOL. I got in the car and the "Engine requires Maintenance " Light came on, but only for a few seconds. They set the light to come on so many miles before the next scheduled oil change, but didn't think of it for a few minutes. First reaction was "Oh shit". DD went to Denver? Who's in Denver.
My first reaction wasn't to tell Steve that I was bringing Shats. When will I ever learn to follow my inner voice. Now's he stressed. He's like his dad in that way. They have a young boxer. . Erhhh.
