Anybody ever go to the original Gilley's near Houston back in the day? I went the first year when I was in grad school in TX, in the fall of 1983. Been one for awhile, but the place that made the mechanical bull famous!

thanks, all for the good wishes with this round.

Yes, Sas and Frey, I was a kick when I was younger. Good thing alcohol wasn't considered an illicit drug. My back ground investigators had a hard time believing that I hadnever even tried pot but in those days it was almost always smoked which was a dumb idea for an asthmatic. But I made up for it in mass quantities of booze. And for trifle, I always liberally sprinkle and end up using almost a whole bottle. One time, I thought I had a bottle of sherry at home so I didn't buy any more...turned out to be a bottle of Remy-Martin VSOP but I was already assembling so I went with it and just used a little less. That trifle still had a pretty good kick!

As for dogs, my MO knows I have them but didn't say anything about avoiding them. I was at my parents after my first 2 rounds and they have limited house priveleges there. This time, one of them has been sniffing me non-stop, especially my i.v. hand. The other is a toilet drinker if I forget the lid so I've been using the brush and double flushing just in case I forget when I'm half dead from fatigue.

Jazzy--yay for the results! Enjoy that root beer float

loveroflife, the girls get a kick out of my horrible spelling . I thought I was typing artichoke . I do love them. The best was when they where talking about mouth sores. I had heard that a septic stic works. They had a great time with that one. A stepstic prob still spelling it wrong , was what I meant.

Chevy needs lines thrown to her then she is on a roll, then sas chimes in. They are cute :)

    Nigh night all

jazzy-so true about others. I had to stop and get gas after my infusion today and a lady came up to me and said "God bless you." She recognized the signs of my bald head, i.v. bandage and medical wrist band that I hadn't cut off yet. She had had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and went through 6 months of chemo followed by 16 weeks of radiation. Totally humbling experience.

    Patty--adorable pic!

Frey--may the pain be manageable and your rest be plentiful

Sas--I forgot to read the next page so had to write another post

Loverly--beautiful pics! Mo said that the high neutrophils could be a response to the swelling in my esophagus. My esophagitis has never been as bad as it was after my last round but it's always caused an elevated WBC just not as high as it is now. Itmakes sense that a worse case caused a worse WBC.

loverly - absolutely love the tree tunnel. Reminds me of childhood fairy tales. Sweet

My DSS spent the 2nd night n a row at our neighbors. Ds1 called and came home at 1:30 am because of an upset tummy. Ds2 called and came home at 3:30am also upset tummy. No actual vomiting yet thankfully. I am hoping its something they ate there and not something contagious. Thinking about isolating them to the upstairs. I have finally found the right pain med and doseage to manage my back pain overall and also gotten my thyroid med straightened out thus losing migraines and exhaustion. I don't want to catch anything. Sick of being sick. Hope I don't come off sounding like a bad mom for not comforting them more.

Hootie hoo! Yes, vacation but with a female friend that I travel with a lot. She just retired from my same job in March but we're both single, no kids and we both have nutty senses of humor so we travel well together. We've done England (Feb 2008) Ireland (Oct 2009), Northeastern France (Mar 2011) and Germany/Eastern Europe (Oct 2014). Each trip was about 3 weeks. I've also been to Italy twice; once for 31 days in 1998 after a nasty breakup and again in Oct 2012 with my sister after her nasty divorce...Italian men are great for the ego!

Hope the little ones don't have anything contagious

Friday flashback. About 2 years ago at Memphis zoo for Mothers Day

I was about 40lbs heavier. Probably my heaviest ever. My bones sure feel better to get that weight off

    Hootie hoo

Patty--sweet family! If I could get rid of the extra 40 lbs, my knee and plantar fasciitis would be a lot more comfortable. My only saving grace is a high muscle content and fairly decent height at 5'8" so I'm pretty dense physically as well as mentally! As for my friend, yes, friends like that are few and far between. Unfortunately, she moved to Kansas after retirement to be closer to her parents, days before I was diagnosed with BC.

Susan--reading back I saw you did 50 miles this week! Congratulations!! I must have missed it when I was posting one of my insomnia-induced rambles. With that evil taxotere, I had only one good day this week and I contemplated just going out for a short walk but didn't want to tire myself out since my next round was the following day.

So okay! Just TELL me how far back I have to read to find out what you guys are talking about! I mean DAMN!

I'm still trying to figure out this "asparagus" stuff, then you throw in all this other avacado thing, and WTH???

I just want to say Jazzy, that was so sweet of you to gently guide a little gal to find comfort and peace and advice here with us! Not to mention smoking weed, artichokes, and riding cowboys... She'll never be the same.

You are talking about meeting up Peppermint? Hah! WHAT is "trifle"???
Is that like "trifling" around? Is that a GOOD thing? We can't DO that can we? Or maybe we can.... WHO can say for sure...?

    Cutest picture!

Marla, I smoked too... ! Because that meant you were "cool." But when me and my Brother smoked our own, we put our change together and bought 'Spud" cigarettes! Ha! We would sometimes shuffle my Dad's packs around in the carton, to make it look like nothing was missing!

And ONE time he came home when we were ditching, and we all saw him drive up, and we FLEW under the bed!!! 4 of us!!!!!!!!!

Smoke must have been like a FOG in the house! We were trying to hold in our giggles and fright, and we heard him mumble "What the hell?" And when we left, we thought we were surely GONERS! I assume we were grounded after that!

Freysia, or WHAT is it? Frenchfry? Where did you get Freygea? Is that a real name, or an alias? I'm sorry you hurt... are you better now? We'll wait for you...!

Ah geez Marla, I was having a hell of a time trying to understand all this about toilet drinkers, and sniffing, until I read DOG! I was getting worried about your family!

Morning Susan! You DON'T mean a Septic pencil.... that is like a tank or something... I know this much for sure... YOU mean a styptic pencil... that STILL sounds wrong... for a mouth sore? SURE, if you want to feel searing pain clear up to the top of your HAIR! What IS that stuff made of? Okay I have the answer.... Aluminum crystals and wax.... honest! It stops bleeding by scaring your vessels to DEATH... You could carry one around WITH you, in case you cut yourself while traveling....

Loverly! Morning to you too.... You are the sanity/calmer of this place. Love your pictures...

Oh that trampet Marla said something about Italians.... like SHE would know. Trampet is like a tramp in training.

Peppermint, she is going to corrupt you... like that is possible....

No Fraygay, or whatever, don't lay down.... Unless of course you are tired. Okay, okay.... go lay down... We will take care of you...

to lazy to takes notes so I'll apologize up front that I am going to miss alot of people

Both DSS are still sleeping. Hoping they wake up feeling great. Hope the neighbors entire house isn't sick from something they ate also. I got up very early today. At 5am is started to get daylight enough so I swam around about 1 hour. I always wake up with a stiff back. Less resistance in the pool. Much easier to work out the stiffness without causing torn muscles. Dh took a the day off work but has planned to work in his shop at home all day

Tang YAY love too see you. Chickie give us an update on how you are doing :) It's been crazy. Patty's organizing a party. What are you bringing?

Now we just need Enerva, Teka, Maddy, Phyliss to check in and that covers everyone from last year. Missing Mel & Beachie from this year. Littlegoats, Wren, Paws, and Dutchy. Who'd I forget?

Loverly, August 9th on the calendar.

Spookie AUGUST, AUGUST, I GOT IT

Patty, 5am swimming? You must have shrunk your ovaries? Party is sounding great so far. Had to throw DBF's clothes OVER the gate last night. Misbehaving. I threw his clean clothes on the right side and dirty clothes on the left side. He promises now to be better. He will be good for awhile then I will have to throw his clothes OVER the fence again. Only the third time in tree years, so he knows it's serious. Great pics!

Susan the brownies showed up at Steve's yesterday. Two days overdue, but I'm not complaining. I can still imagine all the different people involved in trying to divert them.

Nettie, you flew through with no update? How are you and the babies? Pics?

Jazzy & Marley so nice about those folks

Chevy, try making a trifle with the girls before Sheri leaves. First, you must learn how to say it. It's TRY-fle. I'll give you a simple recipe.

Ingredients---prepare instant Jello vanilla pudding, almonds, bottle of sherry, bottle of raspberry jam or preserves thinned just slightly with a tablespoon of water, Cool whip or heavy whipping cream whipped. Pound cake-- either make or buy ready made Sara Lee and cut off the outside (like cutting off the crusts). Cut cake in however it suits you and put on baking sheets. Baste each side with sherry. They will get soggy depending how much sherry you use. When you get to assembling trifle transfer to dish with spatula so they don't fall apart.

Usually done in a trifle bowl---clear glass pedestal bowl. Yes, it even has a special bowl. If you don't have one, a large deep serving bowl will do. One small stemmed glass for each person doing the assembly.

Assembling Trifle: Layer of cake>>>raspberry jam(fruit if you wish)>>>custard>>>cool whip >>>>almonds>>>>>keep layering until it reaches the top>>>top layer should be cool whip and almonds. Garish with raspberries or strawberries. Chocolate shavings if you like.

English assembling: Layer as described then pour in the bottle of Sherry. Allow time for it to soak to bottom.

The stemmed glasses are for you and the girls to drink sherry while assembling. I know you don't drink so you can have Coke in your stemmed glass :)Endless variations on ingredients. Can be made without booze. Refirgerate till serving. Great the next day or two.
