Patty- I am really sorry that you are in the hospital and really not feeling well. I have had the NG tube before in my nose and to my stomach and it is a really tough thing to deal with. I hope they can get things better for you, and pray your MRI does not show any advancement. Sending you love and hugs from the southwest tonight.
Mags- very cool about going on the little trip. I think it is a good step in your recovery to have a little adventure. I hope the travels there and back go well, and that you have fun with your friends.
Summerfest today was a bit of a bust and anti-climatic after the great music all along the way along this week to last night. One friend showed up early, but then left after a band she wanted to see played and others were either no shows or decided to come much later. It was very hot and really not that enjoyable, so I told myself I just needed to head out. I came home to the coolness of my air conditioning and a nice nap! The big week of music has concluded! Now I am checking myself into music rehab (LOL!)
Hoping everyone else had an okay Saturday!

Magdalena: (perks up) Horseradish Festival? Where? The Gilmore Garlic Festival was amusing, but I'm a scald the inside of my nose and make the mucous membranes of my mouth run screaming into my sinuses kinda gal. I make my father-in-law tear up when I eat wasabi straight, and he's the one who managed to choke down a chili pepper when his son first anxiously introduced the two of us, nearly thirty years ago.

Mags, my brother lived just south of Clinton in Burns Flat. When I was 10yo we took Rt 66 from Oklahoma City to California, then went up the coast and back thru Tahoe and Denver. I got to see the hospital where I was born. It was right across a boulevard from the ocean. I think that's why my body hates to go uphill and has problems at high altitudes.
Patti, Hope you're on the mend very soon and they can do something about the pain. Sending love and hugs.

I've managed to stay awake for 13 straight hours--the longest period in over a week. I go back to work in 12 hours <sigh>.

good morning. Too yucky to individually respond to the posts
Thanks for the support ladies. I am feeling a lot better today. Waiting on MRI results. Loved reading what everyone is up to. Bco is truly my lifeline. It's great to be able to get my feelings out without upsetting my family anymore then necessary
Hugs all around

MARLA! I should have said "put on her high-top fluorescent orange tennis shoes"... Hah! She has those too, and all you can see is those SHOES when she walks up the sidewalk...I have to run put my sun-glasses on!
I don't want to give a bad disparaging remark about crocs... because I wear them....
She sent me an email saying that Nick is working on it, and she would too, and maybe talk to someone about landscaping it better, and fixing their front broken up flag-stone sidewalk...
What they NEED to do is open their eyes whenever they walk out front!
Ah geez Peppermint...! We need you hanging around here and not getting sick...er! Sorry about your Son's and how they are afraid too... You are in my prayers......
MAGS! Where did you FIND that guy? He is an anomaly! That means someone who is pretty rare... ! But make sure that empty credit card has MONEY on it... Have a BLAST!
A Horseradish festival? You're KIDDING right? I would pass on that in a blink. And like I know what "sanguine" is. Is that like boisterous?
Morning Loverly! Did I tell you how beautiful that thing was that you posted? So sweet!
So Marla, you think CoQ10 has something to do with your lack of Tinnitus? I'll have to look into that for my DD!
Geez you guys... and Jazzy, I've never had a tube... Eeeeeks! Don't want one either. My Brother, the musician, always goes out playing with his buddies... Even if it's only to each others place...! They love to get together... He is one of those crazy drummer guys... and he hangs with even crazier types of tune-heads. But that is their world.... and they never get too old for their fun-times.
Oh Queenie! My BIL took a big bite of that Wasabi, from a buffet, when we were in Vegas... He thought it was Guacamole! I thought he would DIE! I mean this guy was in PAIN! Didn't know WHAT to do with it! He thought he was on FIRE! And then my Brother is the one who eats chopped up little cute Habanero's! He has an aluminum mouth by now.
They look like cute little trinkets you would hang from a chain....
Wren, you, Loverly and Jazzy, are still up when I am GETTING up... Ha!
OMD Peppermint! What are you doing still up? Go to bed, you hear? I'm just glad you are here to be with us... No... you can talk to us, when you can't talk to family... We have to put on a different face for them...
Rest peaceful little Hootie!

Decided that I'm going to proceed like I have been with the business and build at my own pace. Nor am I going to give into the pressure. Got enough to deal with in my life

Morning Mom! Just do it your way.... You know what is best... don't let anybody take away your confidence... Just get out there and SHOW them!

Chevy. Lol. U know there is not much sleep at the hodputal. Always someone waking you up. This am I was finally sleeping and I heard the nurse in the room. She was changing iv fluids. She got me a warm blanket but when she put it on me she spilled my full cup if ice water sll over me and the bed. Just am accident but I had to get up and change while shechanged the bed and now too much pain to sleep. So I've been working in a written list of fun activities that we ARE going to do before school starts back in 3 weeks.

Peppermint! What did you just say? Am I losing my de-ciphering abilities, I mean if I ever had any? What is a hodputal....? Is it related to Hospital in some way? Just askin'...
Also... ICE WATER! Now DAMN, that was rude! OMD, wait till Spookie sees that! She will be laughing, but acting like she is sorrowful.

See, this Julie girl, on the fuzzy thread, stealthily posts these pictures, and I'm assuming I'm taking them personally.....

Morning OWLIES Great day to be alive :
Patty, chit, praying lovey.
Spookie, I didn't get a phone, but I will. Republic has a new phone coming out at the end of the month. I had presence of mind to see how DBF likes his and coverage of 3G and 4G. Sacrificed the better camera for the coverage. ...I'll be staying with you if that's okay for Loverly's visit? Steve's roommate is getting married that weekend. Lot's of folks in from out of town. Steve's bestman. Choas.
Mags have fun., nothing quite compares to a visit with a BFF. Nice....DH is so sweet about your trip.
MARLANA-----------sheLIVES....cool. Weather--MOI. okay it's our fault. The lightening pic is gotgeous.
Loverly, I read some on Tinnutis. The supplement thingy is off the wall. But our drugs can be a problem too. Found a good description of cautionaries. The definitive research of regrowing the little hairs in the inner ear is making progress. The scientist have been able to do it with baby chickens. COQ10: first time I went into buy it. Read heavily about it. Decided it was worth a try. Checking out and this guy says "what's that good for". It was in the early chemo/ anesthesia brain days. Me "Can't think, maybe if I took my Gingko, I would have remembered". He and I laughed, know one else got it.
Hi Ho, what a view. WOW
Chevy, of course those pics are for you. How's Cami?
0 -
Sas, definitely Sat and possibly Sun.
Chevy, ice water in a horsepital bed, ugh.
DH managed to catch a really bad cold, blew his nose so hard he went deaf in one ear. Then he developed tinnitus. Then he read about the tiny hairs in the ears, and asked me if Rogaine would help with those problems.
Really.

Good morning friends- whew, I finally got to sleep and was able to sleep in until 8 a.m.! Loverly, you may be right about the music!
Patty- holding you in my thoughts and prayers this morning. Praying for good outcomes on the MRI.
I agree that BCO is a lifeline. This is my place I talk about things with the bc, including follow ups, etc. No one can really understand what we go through except those who have or are going through it.
Marlanab- wow, look at that lightening. Very common to see that where I live, but I believe t-storms on the west coast are a pretty rare thing. That photo is absolutely spectacular.
How are you feeling today?
Frea- how are you doing as well?
Mommy- I think you are wise to not let anyone push you into doing something you don't want to do. I deal with it all the time with my clients, contracting firms I work through, even family and friends. Creating boundaries around our work is important to keep our health good. I hear myself saying more and more "sorry, I cannot commit to that." You go girl, you are doing well just the way things are.
Chevy- that cat pic is hilarious. I happen to know a cat by the name of Muffin, which makes it that much more entertaining.
Blondie- are you out there and how is the Florida trip going?
Spookie- the ear hair and Rogaine thing, really is right!
Wishing everyone a good day.

Spookie LOL, The drug company that made minoxidil as an antihypertensive quickly picked up on the side effect of minoxidil that has led to millions(Billion?). Hair start growing on the palms of the hands, face, chest and other places. HEAD was considered a happy place to have it grow. It became Rogaine. When reports started circulating in the early 80's(70's?) lot's of laughs. Particularly the hands. But the company worked it out. You may think it's out there, but makes me wonder if they ever looked at the inner ear with minixodil studies originally or since.cuz hair was growing everywhere .......Okay Saturday. I don't like to drive over the same day as a meet or appt. To worrisome with traffic.

Smarrty I found an image of the hem marker. Mine has the tube that has a bulb on it. When you squeeze the bulb, it puffs a white mark on the fabric. Is it okay if I send it?

Loverly, and Chevy, and Jazzy(?). I will fill in stuff here as I find it.
Well written evidence based research(EBR) by a professor that teaches nurse practitioners. This is from Medscape which is a huge resource for EBR. It's from 2002, but it's one of those articles that won't go out of date. A real plus is it's written in understandable language. It's a good basis for reading other articles After spending hours reading, this publication is a primer for understanding the subject. This article has probably been used by every researcher from 2002, as a template for completeness. Likely not credited in their bibliographies.

This is a study published in 2014. Well written, but it's written by a psychiatrist. My bias is that psychiatrists are biased. Page 3-4 offer specific related to certain types of problems that cause tinnitus. Page 5 has a description of current treatment. Treatment for the average person would be hard to come by unless they live near a facility. Page 6 is the conclusion. The conclusion is weak kind of hohum My bias is I like conclusions that cause excitement i.e.breakthroughs

March 2014 Announcement that the FDA approved a hearing for use through the VA system. The VA may lag in some areas, but has very high standards for development of devices. prosthetics, treatments for wounded and disabled veterans.

This is an article about a study on women( Nurse Health Study 11). It showed a statistically significant difference between women who drank the equivalent of 6-8 cups of coffee a day over those that drank 3-4 and tinnitus occurrence. That result was unexpected. It is especially significant b/c most recommendations include limiting coffee. It's short and an easy read

The reason I have included these words is they are repeatedly used in all the current research.Psychopathology[a] is the scientific study of mental disorders, including efforts to understand their genetic, biological, psychological, and social causes; effective classification schemes (nosology); course across all stages of development; manifestations; and treatment.
Neuropsychiatry is a branch of medicine that deals with mental disorders attributable to diseases of the nervous system. It preceded the current disciplines of psychiatry and neurology, which had common training.[1] However, psychiatry and neurology subsequently split apart and are typically practiced separately. Nevertheless, neuropsychiatry has become a growing subspecialty of psychiatry and it is also closely related to the fields of neuropsychology and behavioral neurology, which is a subspecialty of neurology that addresses clinical problems of cognition and/or behavior caused by-----------------------------------------------------------
All the research refers to subjective and objective tinnitus. It's important to have an understanding of these two categories. The following description is from the first link on assessment by Judith Shannon Lynch MS, MA, ARNP, FAANP.
"There are 2 categories of tinnitus:
Subjective: Audible only to the patient. This is the more common form (95%) and may be due to peripheral or central auditory problems, a metabolic abnormality, or anxiety/depression.
Objective: Also audible to the healthcare provider. This is rarely found and is frequently due to a vascular or neuromuscular condition, a tumor within the head, neck, or brain, or a structural defect in the ear, usually the inner ear. Tinnitus may be described as pulsatile and may be synchronous with cardiac rhythm. Any unilateral pulsatile tinnitus should be considered very seriously and referred for evaluation to a specialist."Me again: Frequently in the study of any condition you will hear or read symptoms and signs that apply to that condition. It's important to know the definition of the term symptom and sign.
Symptoms are subjective. The patient describes them, but the healthcare provider can't see, feel, hear, smell, taste, or measure what the patient describes.
Signs are objective. The healthcare provider can see, feel, hear, smell, taste, and or measure what the patient describes."
Putting this all together. When we are seen by a doc for complaints of tinnitus. It is appropriate for the docs to rule out any known physical condition. The history and exam should follow the assessment as written by Judith Shannon. Her's is a classic thorough head to toe approach. This is what you should expect from your practitioner.
The problem for us that hasn't changed much over time is when practitioners can't find a physical cause, not much is available as a definitive solution. Or the less than perfect solution that is offered is expensive i.e maskers. The outcome is people seek alternative solutions that have no science behind them whatsoever. Desperate people will try most anything when a true solution isn't available.
Another problem is we've all experienced docs discounting our symptoms. At this point is where the psychobabble comes in, the offer of antidepressants/antianxiety agents are a cop out. Plus or minus 50 million people with a problem. Let's get real. Tinnitus is not an easy problem, but it exists.
This link is to a proprietary site that sells a device that supposed to help with tinnitus. Combo hearing & tinnitus aid. From a laypersons point of view they have some good teaching info if you wander through the web site. I will also link to their page about safety. If someone complains, I can be banned just by listing them. Please, don't complain. I'm not recommending that you buy anything.

Loverly, couldn't locate the info from long ago. I did locate this pubmed info and then info about Ultra Quiet proprietary device. Somewhere, I read about vibration. What I do? I lay on the vibrating bed with one ear down. Bed turns off in a 1/2 hour. I usually have fallen asleep. Tinnitus is different when I wake up. I usually use it when it get's to loud. I tried a hand held back vibrator against the mastoid, but couldn't keep it against the bone. Otherwise, I do nothing.

Okayyyy Loverly, I'm done. No more revisions. Please, read from the beginning if you read it before it was done. Many revisions before being done. BTW not impressed at all with the lack of resolution in this area
When I was writing the description for s/s's it brought back a memory of an earlier time. Part of the description for s/s's for a cystic fibrosis kid was salty skin. The old accepted method of evaluating this was lick the kiddo's skin.

Oh man I have to create an account to access medscape...another password to remember. With this memory of mine lately, it's not going to comply with storing another password haha. Thank you for the research/links. Will look into it.
Providers had to lick kids' skin back then to help themdiagnose cystic fibrosis?Eww
Mag, what a blessing to have a friend you have...driving 8 hrs to be with you when you had your chemo. You are/ were loved. Have a wonderful trip with your friend
Marlana, beautiful but angry looking picture. Hope you have strength and can stay awake at work today.
Mommy, I agree with what Jazzy said about setting boundaries. We need to in all relationships, otherwise it's not healthy. I have learned it the hard way and still learning to say no. Good for you for drawing boundaries.
Susan, thinking about you.
And you too, Rose.
Ms. Chevy, did you finish cleaning out the cupboard? It's amazing how much we accumulate over the years. The longer you live in a house, the more things you have and it doesn't help when your family have a hard time letting go of stuffs. I have no problem letting go of things as long as they belong to my husband or kids haha. I still have my notes from college and I graduated 20+ years ago. I know, I know, Marlana (the 5 scorer of AP English)..brat......,and Queenie(the editor), you can't tell I went to college from reading my writing. Hated and still hate writing. I'm amaze they let me out of college too.
Hole, stunning picture. You have good eyes.
