Never brown anything except ground beef before dumping in crockpot.

hmmmm, up so late because I have trouble settling these days. Like so many Owlettes I guess.

There is also a rain-dance induced howling rain storm blowing outside my bedroom window which is 1/2 mile from the Indian Ocean lol

I think the U.S. Has a base here because we are on the Asian/Indian Ocean rim. We have have a long history in providing radio/telecommunications services and strategically I think the U.S./Aus relationship is strengthened by our global position. All of Western Australia is in the same time zone as all of China so that is the current geopolitical interest I think. Previously, and possibly now, our clear skies have provided good telecommunication conditions - no light or radio frequency pollution (spy stuff) The international space station regularly checks in.

The dear nephews and nieces are now Australian domiciled. Brother in law has retired from the U.S. Navy and has settled here. His twin is still in Crookston. Very hard on on the U.S. Family when they moved to Aus. DH and I visit USA every five years or so to see other friends and family. Although the Christmas spent in northern Minnesota will go down as one of the most memorable.

Spookie, I will try to post that tim tam cheesecake recipe tomorrow. My colleague who made it today said it was fabulous so I am keen to try it myself. Father's Day coming up here so it will be perfect for dad

Oh Dears - totally behinder again. Spent yesterday cooking for church family and of course DH was off too. He went to get that nasty tooth worked on again. Hope it's getting better. At least the bills seem to be spaced out on it. I'm sitting for a bit tonight with the gentleman from the church meal. DW wants to get back to church choir and he is being placed in NH after Labor Day. He seems pretty easy, just sit, keep from getting up, safety. About an hour and a half I think. I feel I need to do this. I have no family out here and someday I may need the same turn for something.

Dune - I pray the head MRI comes to nothing. I talk to myself constantly, I do get looks in the grocery store. Sucky about the confused and dizzy.

Patty - I had read about all your procedures on another thread. Hugs my dear sister of the heart.

Sassy - I've bought frozen dumplings at WalMart. Red Box very distinctive. I don't like Mary B's (though I do love her biscuits). DH unfortunately is not a dumplings person. The picture shows flat sheets, but they are crimped into strips.

I need to get the old crockpot going. And I do mean old. It at least has a removable liner. No fancy timers, just low/high. Courtesy of my FIL who did not like it. It replaced (dating myself) an avocado green non-liner one. I surely have plenty of CB's and websites to surf.

Jac - I have read plenty about TimTams on here but never had one. I've never seen them at Target but think I did see some at World Market. The cheesecake looks divine. I could smoosh my face right in there like a kiddo. The whale shark diving looks fantastic. I'm sure Australia and outposts in the Pacific were telecommunications spots during the space race.

I know I've missed many on this flyby. Happy Humpday to those in the workforce.

Goats. if your Target has Pepperidge Farms cookies, TimTams should be close to them.

Jac, best wishes on your recon surgery. I had my exchange in May. Expansion was no fun. Glad it is over. You are doing the left side only right?

Dunes, got a good laugh with your new Avatar. Reminds me of the phrase "Big Brother is watching you" from George Orwell's 1984. I talk to myself too, when I try to make sense of something. Maybe, I shouldn't have revealed that part about myself. But, dizzy and confused...hmmm hopefully,it's dehydration or sleep deprivation.

Ms CHEVY, I can tell your garden is your pride and joy. You have St Francis(?) in the front and Buddha in the back? Interesting mixture. Very whimsical decorations. I love wind chimes too!

Ms Sas, I think I need to put a magnet key container underneath the car for Mom. I can see how easy it is for Mom to forget her keys in the car....she gets distracted easily. Her insomnia made it worse.

Jazzy, this is the same car that someone did a hit and run last month?

Goats, I am sure your friends from church appreciate the home cooked meals. I am very grateful for my church family. Had many good meals from them during my recovery from surgery. They don't know how much burden they took off my plates

I left my keys in the car running twice. First time I was coming out iof dance classand realized I locked my keys in the car. Called my dad, he always rescued me from anything, but while I was waiting I realized it was running. So I went across the street to wait for dad. I certainly wasn't gonna look stupid getting into my car. So when my dad came I said you drive my car I will drive yours. Way to embarrassed to get in car. I thought everyone was watching to see what idiot left their car running for 2 hours. My dad did it. He was a great guy.

Second time was with my brother who has no sense if humor. Because it was with him, I was crying I was laughing so hard. He can't roll with anything and I found it unbelievably ironically funny. Ahhhhhh the good young days......sas apparently I needed a brain then too....

Loverly the chain with a key goes around her neck., but another backup under a fender --good.

DH called me last week saying he found the keys to the goats in his pocket from where he had carried out the trash. He said no problem the goats can do without their feed for a day which is certainly true. Only problem is he also had the key to the gate and the goats are locked up in the barn at night. Thank goodness we have one spare key to the lock. The goat shed only has one. I think I need to add getting keys made to my list for Friday.

My sitting with church gentleman was easy, watched TV but it went way longer than she/I anticipated. Didn't get home until 9. DH made himself a salad for dinner. Bad girl me had a peanut butter/jelly sammie b4 I left and some graham crackers when I got home. Not really hungry.

Let's see... too numerous to mention on the car running thingy. 18:55 (6:55pm) worked all day. Going into change of shift report. Security guard asks me if I'm me. Says you car has been running in the parking lot all day. Me "If you can find me now, why couldn't you find me before 12 hours has lapsed?" Him "We have been paging all day for toyaota and license plate". Right, nurses block out pages unless they are codes. I was in the employee parking lot with a sticker. Me "Your a security guard and you couldn't find a solution in less than 12 hours?" Get done with report. Go to car. Driver side window down 3 inches. That's an easy snap of a jimmy. 1/2 a tank of gas.

Well the security guard WAS from Titusville Florida, I grew up in Detroit. He may have not known what a jimmy was

Loveroflife- yes it was the little hit and run from July. My car is all better now. Took a month to work through things with the insurance company to get it reclassified under uninsured motorist. The repair was relatively easy, a head light assembly, fog light, some work on the fender and a repaint. I was in the shop a week and a day. The whole thing beginning to end about seven weeks though.

Just got home. I am such a back seat driver. DD drove to swim practice today as she needs to accumulate 50 driving hours with an adult before she can take the driving exam. All the tensing I did every time she made a turn or changed lanes are not helping the pain I have been having in my butt cheekBawlingI think I left nail marks on the door handle!

Loverly , look up the priformis stretch laying on the back. Will kick that pain too the curb.

  • sas-schatzi
    sas-schatzi Posts: 15,889

Loverly. threw in key words "piriformis stretch". Comes up as a definition now. It is universally accepted. Try it.

    Piriformis Stretch

    1. Lie on your back. ...
    2. Cross your left leg over your right so that your left ankle rests on your right knee.
    3. Use your hands to grab hold of your left knee and pull it gently toward the opposite shoulder. ...
    4. Hold for 15 to 30 seconds.
    5. Relax, and then repeat with the other leg.
    6. Repeat this cycle 2 to 4 times.

Loverly, DH finally had a key made that would open the door of his car. Then he could get to the keys he'd locked inside. It's in his billfold with various ID.

To work on the whole muscle, while doing the stretch, work the leg from the 3 o'clock position to the 11:oclock position. That will release the priformis and surrounding muscles.

Jazzy, seven weeks?!...the lingering stress that you didn't need.

Ms. Sas, the chain with a key is a good idea, but would not work for mom. Mama is vain. Ha

Can't keep up with you ladies. I'm slow in everything, including typing.

Thank you, Ms Sas. My doctor gave me list of stretches to do, but not the one you mentioned. Ok, will try it after shower.

Wren, thank you. Great idea! Maybe, I will make two spare keys. One in the magnet container and one in her wallet. Mom left both keys and purse in car still running the first time.

Loverly, Interesting, your doc doesn't give you the stretch, I learned from the pain docs prior to 1998. I throw it into google- keywords "priformis stretch" and it comes up as a definition. What specialty is this doc?

What a hoot.. glad I am not the only person to have locked myself out of the car with it running... The guard at the hospital was an idiot. You should have had a hospital sticker keyed to your license plate and they could have called you or staffing to find your floor. OY! Bummer a 12 hour shift worth of gas.. ouch.

Hot spell is supposed to ease up! Yippee.
