Love the pictures! Viewing these pictures makes it very clear how small we really are. Not that that is a bad thing. Happy

Moon pics are amazing! Thanks for posting! It was cloudy here, so no view at all. Have to live until 2033 now.

Mema: curious what the Ancestry DNA profile shows. I see the commercials on TV, where the guy thought he was German but was really Scot. I could see that would be interesting, but wondering if it has medical use?

Goats: Color Genomics test? I must google. New stuff here!

Jazzy: love that moon pic with the dinosaur teeth!

    Hi to GrammaKathy!

Most everyone pays lousy, Spooks. Sucks, but what can you do? And Publix has no pumpkin pies yet! The price of eggs in the Midwest is apparently really high! So no pies yet. Damn it,, it's almost Oct and I need pumpkin pie.

Glennie - there is a Color Genomics thread on here too.

Oh yes Spookie been in lots of Krogers. But this one was just elegant. I didn't have much time to explore and it's not likely I will ever get there again - a NE Dallas suburb, Irving, way way out of my territory. We have Central Market which is an offshoot of a south TX company, very nice, very expensive. Don't go there looking for dish detergent Palmolive lol. But it is a niche market. The Krogers just surprised me.

Yes bird flu has hit egg prices really, really hard. Many midwest flocks decimated/euthanized. Millions of birds. I don't think it's getting any better. I get forwarded health bulletins (livestock, etc) and still think it's bad. And now birds are migrating thru. Not good. Makes me wonder what price eggnog will be - DH does loves his eggnog - egg not nog lol.

Welcome GrammaKathy. We are a fun thread but can get serious if needed. What did Granny used to say - Come in and sit a spell.

GrammaKathy! Okay if we just call you Grams? That's what my youngest GS calls me.... He's 27 Winking And you live in Southern Calli? I'll bet you saw him, his Brother, and my 2 Daughters last week! They drove through there... Landed in LA, and drove down the coast, through all the Beach towns, then back up to SF to see the AC/DC concert at the Giants stadium.... DD coming back here tomorrow, and the others are flying on to Orlando!

It was a dream trip for them.... Fisherman's Wharf, Berkeley, went to Spengers for Dinner, over to Telegraph Hill, Oakland, back to North Beach, and all the memory places we have visited before....

Janie has lost her voice! Probably from screaming at the concert, and Lord only knows what all else those kids did! Besides all those Lobster sandwiches, and Clam Chowder they ate.... Mmmmmmmmmmmm! I only asked for a loaf of sour-dough bread.... they better not forget...Ha!

  • Glennie, just buy a can of pumpkin, frozen shel, make your own!! I just spent almost $7 for a small bag of black walnuts for pumpkin bread. I had a black walnut tree up north.

  • Hi Owlettes! I too saw the eclipse and blood moon, it was clear last night. I didn't take pictures tho, as my iPhone doesn't do good moon pictures, and I haven't taken my good camera out of the case since we got home from the cruise where I found the lump in my breast on the last day. I don't even know if there are pictures on it.

Jazzy, great pic of White Sands. We lived right down the road, on the missile range, and went there often. Had my 16th birthday party there, sand surfing and picnic.

DH is out of town this week, had to go testify at a trial for his company. I baked a batch of brownies today for our cancer support group tonight. It was hard to do because my back is so bad now I can't stand without pain but the brownies are great.

I'm trying to avoid wheat anyway,, so maybe I can find a recipe for pumpkin mousse,,, that would probably cure the craving.

Oh my Friends, Di is trying to kill me. But she is making it so pretty. I used to be so anal retentive. Now I'm not. Honest. I begged her to let me take a break. She cajoled me into getting the mattresses out of the living room. She is so sweet.

I quit eating wheat last year and it made a big difference. Now, if I could keep my wits and leave the fried foods alone I'd never have digestive problems.

DNA data, doc says there is a slew of info in there. It's the same as the 123 testing, these tests are just cheaper than the prescribed ones. . Once you upload the data you just gotta figure out how to sort it - not easy. She says she can get dosing info from it. If not, I'll go the other test cause they'll do the analysis for you. These tests are so easy, it's just the analyzing you are paying for. I'll keep ya posted.

Chevy, great letter. Thanks for posting it.

Sas, some people will never understand cancer. Still so many family members think I did something wrong and that's why it came back. The friends that think that I walked away from. But family is forever...lol

My take....almost 14 years on treatment programs......I think.....damn my body has held up for a long time. That's a positive. And when it starts failing, it's none of our faults.

I think the first words out of my mouth when I am dead from all this will be REALLY.

I looked back at my journal from 2002 when I was diagnosed. I wrote.....I thought cancer would be the hardest thing for me to deal with, but who knew that wouldn't be it, it would be people. Didn't see that coming.

On a stinky note, had a half gallon of milk in my car locked up for 5 days. Ughhhhhhhhh. Almost 2 weeks. We have done everything. Now we have to replace the padding under the carpet. We think that will do it without replacing carpet. Wouldn't have been as big of an issue if it wasn't 5 dates. If I only had a brain.lo

Loosely wadded up damp newspaper (in something to contain the ink stain)? Works for stinky plasticware. Maybe cut open useless plastic bags and place them everywhere with it on them.

Reminds me I need to clean out my car. Volunteered to drive tomorrow to movie after Bible Study.

  • Humph,Watch it Goats. I took my car to the full service car wash yesterday. I'm a lazy slug and won't do it. Needed it bad!!!

Of course, ITS RAINED ALL DAY TODAY

Helloooo. The house is clean..... Di is wonderful. I gave her some stem ware. We have a deal Yea or Nay. If she doesn't like something. No hesitation or thinking she's hurting my feelings. Today she was delighted. Set of eight wine glasses from Import Associates, Claudia. Popular around the 70's & 80's. Nice and light. Sparkly. Feels elegant in the hand. Replacements.com has them for 10.00--6 oz. or 20.00 --8 oz. ea. Didn't realize they had two sizes. SPCA .50cents ea. Thrifted over months from one to a few at a time.

Dear nursing school mate is coming tomorrow just for an overnight. Only mate from nursing school that I kept in contact with. We get to see each other about once a year. Her family is a Disney family. A Disney family are folks that visit often to Disney parks. I love it when all the kids come too.

Chevy, glad you meet GrammyKathy and gave her a nickname. Grams :) Remember when you posted about doing 'preview' ,thanks! Been doing it ever since haven't lost a post

Jazzy, those, pics are stunning. Almost unreal. The one in town. Surreal in it's beauty. The mountains too.

LMG and Spookie, Krogers I thought they were out of business. LMG nice to have a fun grocery, takes the drudgery out of the chore.

LMG is DD seriously thinking Boston. Was this a test run. Your right driving is insane. Thenthey have all those roundabouts. Feels like dodgem cars.

Glennie besides the bird flu, there was a virus killing piglets. Haven't heard much recently. Lot's of piglets lost b/c it was unknown what the problem was. It was figured that pork prices were going to go up too. I know my grocery bill has for sure. Big difference in the last year

Spookie, did you see the eclipse? What did the boys think of it?

Mags sorry about your back, so wish you could swim. I've noticed a real difference--big--since I got the solar panels. Warm water and laps. I can do things for more time now. You can come to my house and swim. Just a hop skip and jump. :)

Where's MammaRay?, Jwoo,? Patty? Marley? 2nd..... Rsoie and Loverly--Waving :)

Mema fascinating about ancestry.com. Your doc can use the info for treating? Is they're a line to how it can be used for medicine? I wanted to do Color genomics, but I'm too cheap. It's only 250.00$ for 18 different gene thingy's. Lots of bills this year. FarmerLucy started a thread. She got tested and they all were negative. The time went from for test return went from 6 weeks to > 12 weeks. I looked at 123. Retained the info for a few seconds.

    Frenchfrye how you feeling?

Grammy Grams lots have nicknames. It kind of gotten to be a tradition. Then you get more as time goes on. It does make it challenging to keep track of everyone. Even to figure out that it's you someone's talking too.

Talked with 2nd the other day. She still working at that new place. They have a 'fly by the seat of your pants' orientation. She talked to Blessings. 2nd posted before that she had been given the Traumatic Brain Injury dx. Neglected to ask her why now. When the injury was so long ago. Forgot. why? But it was a change.

    Yakking on the phone....BBL

Susan- my thought about people who blame you for your problems (including cancer), is that they are giving themselves permission to NOT care about you. I learned early in life people will blame you for anything that goes wrong, like you just made it happen. Sometimes our decisions result in things going wrong, but many things in life we have zero control over. We just have to deal with it when it happens. And I also have come to know those who blamed me for things in the past found themselves in the very same situations sometimes. Karma has it's way with people.

They say people who blame others for everything in life do not have successful lives. I say people who blame other people for their problems also have very unsuccessful relationships too.

Cancer helped me me to improve the quality of my friendships, for those I did tell. Several other have gone away or I just stopped communicating. I find I am grateful when trash takes itself out!

Bought some new sheets for the bed and put them on the bed. Got them at Kohl's!

  • Mommy, I am more visual.....hint, hint.

Welcome Grams!!!! I usually introduce myself and the other ladies. But I am brain dead lately so, I am afraid I will mix up everyone. Some days I forget who I am. I am very grateful for everyone here. Learn different things from different people.

Rose, I can't do coffee because my heart and stomach are usually mad at me if I do. I can do a few sips, but that is not enough to keep my neurons to communicate with each other.

    BBL breaks over

Jazzy, love your assessment re: trash. .......Firstly, please continue with the Moon pics. It's hard to believe some are real, they are so beautiful. Secondly when the moon pics start to fade. Hardly. But sometime in a few weeks, if you could post them as a group on Warm & Fuzzies Then I will put a pg link in the topic box. Then we can find them easily in the future. What do you think?

    Sure wish Marley would post.

Susan, I've done a fair amount of social isolation. Just done with the comments that are on the Bingo card. Guess that's why I reposted it so many places. It said it all in a small amount of space. I agree with Scutlers that marking them off and declaring BINGO would turn it around. Not sure if that makes sense. Guessing as I mull it over, it allows a bit more control over the exchange. The answers that are snarky are nice to talk here, but I can't do them in real life. But with the card, the absurdity through laughter changes the power of the words.

Here we can say anything, anywhere, and we all get it. From the first time we hear cancer, till the lasts words we share.

With Dear Brother Charlie, by nature he's used to being in control. He's going to have a tough time adjusting. Still mulling on how to deal with him. It's not going to continue as is, but I'm a time and distance muller. I'll give it a few weeks before I decide what's best.
