that's a whole cloth quilt. One piece of fabric. Don't think I could ever do something like that.
Philly, nice win, and good luck with your tests

My cousin posted that on Facebook for my sister who is a quilt artisan. I mean, she doesn't just quilt, she paints with fabric and thread. She has rooms filled with plastic tubs of fabric, all sorted by color. In her spare time she makes baby quilts for charity, and she can turn one of those out in an afternoon.
I had a chitling day, as Harvey Korman called it. I'm laying it to the fault of estrogen deprivation. Nothing else wrong. Just spent the day on the verge of tears. DH played Carol Burnett DVDs and grilled rib eyes, and made noodles and mushrooms for dinner, and store-bought tiramisu which was surprisingly good. I'm no longer on the verge of tears, but not out of the woods yet.
Loverly, when above mentioned sis lived in Nawlins*, we visited frequently. It's about a 12 hour drive. Whenever we did, I made it a practice to eat oysters at least once a day. DH's business trip last week took him to the Gulf, and he had oysters one night. So, knowing how much I love them, he took me and cousin out yesterday and I ate a dozen of them, washed down with good Southern sweet tea.

Phyl, That is a great win. Think about sitting under it next summer with your ice tea and book. Will you plant vines on it? In your pocket for tests and results.

Saw a grown ass woman on the Dallas Cowboys game tonight holding up a tatas sign. Plus, she put in an apostrophe like they own something! Dear Lord, forgive all my cussing but I'm pooping ass tired tonight, the Cowboys lost and those ignorant ass parents of the 16 yr old didn't get enough details from anyone about her pathology.
Now, I'm going to go take my combo mix and shut down but before I do, I have been asked to speak about BC support to a real estate group in a few weeks. I agreed
knowing only that I could come to this source of women. Now, give me your best 5 minutes!0 -
Crap, I meant I talk to them for 5 minutes so I need to know what to say and figured you guys could tell me what you would say in 5 minutes. I ain't a wearin' pink!

Ah geez.... I almost tried to post this funny picture, but when I hit what-ever, all that was left was a little box with an x in it.... I'll try again....

So YOU Mags, had a crappy day? No, we can't do that.... Not when OUR significant other is having one..... ONE of us has to fess-up and give it the hell up. He spoiled you? He's used to you.... meaning you mean the world to him.... don't screw it up......:)
And so Phylliwiththewood posted her new swing-set? That's she's finishing? It looks like it grew right out of the GRASS! Did you plant it or something? Yes... dig little holes on all 4 corners, and then plant some kind of vines... THEN hang the swings! That's how they do it. What did you call it? A Perogi? I thought we ate those things!
Did you make all those little neighbor kids drag it to your house for you? And then you fixed them a sandwich?
Now Mema.... maybe those stupid Parents did, and maybe they didn't.... but it's probably nothing... They will feel stupid if you ask them again... (which they ARE) but those of us on here, need to know every detail, and some people just aren't into that.....
Man, I don't know what I would say about BC support.... But write it down, before you go out there and spill your beans......... Just talk about what it means to you...what helped you the most, and what resources you found.... like US! Tell them about us...how delightful we all are, most of the time. Don't name names.......... they can lock you up for that..... just ask Phylliintheslammer.

That quilt is gorgeous !!!
The DivineMrsM wrote a great letter to the editor,,, it's posted on its own thread in the Stage IV forum. And under one or 2 of the Pinkober I posted a link to Ann Silberman's letter to the editor. Ann is the blogger of "Breast Cancer? But Doctor I hate Pink" and on FB under that title too. Both are great letters and you could get some ideas,, and some numbers to toss out at the crowd.

Rose, it does make sense what your Onc said regarding if the cancer is controlled, then symptoms will be controlled. But the body is so complex. Time will tell. We can only hope for improvement in QOL and more time (quality) with our love ones. It is good that you don't have wait for an appointment and then travel to get tapped anymore. Less energy spent commuting means reserved energy/stamina to do important things, like spending time with DD3 to bake and freeze a supply of muffins for your DD2. I can't believe you did that. Actually, it brings joy to my heart and tears to my eyes when I read that. It is thoughtful and kind of you to journal your experience so that others will have the informations in the future. You have a saint for a hubby there. I don't blame him for giving you the " Golden Retriever" eyes of please. Are you doing Herceptin every 3 week ?

Aww Susan, enjoy your massage. Talk about massage, have you had helped from a lymphedema therapist to relieve the swelling?
Phyllis, hoping for favorable results this Friday. Very nice pergola. Lots of nice options on how to make it into a nice retreat.
Ms. Chevy, I am sorry about your 'friend'. Ms. Carol does not need anymore stress with her current circumstances. I can understand you wanting to protect Ms. Carol. We all have choices to make and we reap what we sow. In a way, I do feel bad for your 'friend'. Her self-pity and selfishness only isolate her from others. All of us have our burdens/baggages, but not everyone knows how to deal with them. Because of that we don't make good choices at times and we or others in our lives suffer the consequences. Gosh,I hope I am making sense.
Mag, we settled in Louisiana for six years after leaving Viet Nam. We were dirt poor when we first arrived. Dad found a job in welding and mom had to work two minimum jobs to feed five of us kids. Love everything about Louisiana except the yearly flood and bigotry/discrimination. This was where I was introduced to oysters and pecans. Nothin' like grilled oysters with a nice cold beer.

Hi ladies- winging my way back to NM today, and at the Denver airport waiting for my final flight home. The wedding went really well, spent some great time reconnecting with family and other family of family we have not seen in decades and even made a plan for everyone to come out to the balloon fiesta next October! The weather was rainy the first few days, and on the wedding day which did not allow for her to get good outdoor photos with the fall foliage (which was lovely!), but it all came together anyways. Can't control the weather! I am just glad we did not end up with the hurricane in NY.
I hope anyone here who is in the NC/SC areas and suffering from the flooding is getting through this. Unbelievable amount of water there and calling it a 1/1000 year flood.
I have some catch up to do around work stuff/contracts when I get home but will pop back in when I can. Hope you are all hanging in there!

Susan, the quilts I have posted are a bunch of fabrics cut up and put back together in a pattern. That music quilt is one large piece of white fabric. The quilter puts the design on it by stitching only. There is no piecing in any of it, so- whole cloth quilt.

Which requires more time and effort ?

Smarty, I have looked and looked at the quilts and patterns, and STILL can't figure out how it is all done.......... Do the pieces of cloth come in a kit? Are they conceived by a computer of some kind? It is all put together with a machine, right? I mean are any of the pieces hand-stiched? It all looks so precise!
It's magic! That's all I can figure out........ It's like the Carbonaro Effect! That magic show.... And you have all the pieces, and put them in a bag, shake them up, and out comes the quilt! And what kind of a machine do you have? I think you have to be a mathematical GENIUS to figure out one of those pictures/quilts, AND an analytical patient mind! ANYway.... so impressive!

Jazzy.... glad you didn't have any problems with our weather here! It POURED here yesterday afternoon! So happy we got the rain, but just always thinking about the passengers at the airport! Our neighbors got stuck there one time, and had to all evacuate down to the basement, for the tornado warnings.... Needless to say, no planes landed or took off until everything was clear....
I remember my first flight... when I was 21, and had baby Sheri with me... We walked out to the prop plane! It had 4 engines, and I was terrified.... Best thing about the flight, was they gave me a "throw-away" diaper for her! We had always used those Curity cloth diapers in those days.... And those new "throw-away" diapers had just come out, but were "very" expensive I thought.
But landed in Oakland, to meet my Folks! Great trip, but so glad to get back home and to "safety" and my Husband...Ha!

And the wringer washer I had from my Mom... To wash all our clothes and diapers! And then carry the clothes out to the clotheslines to hang them UP! I remember falling over a clothes basket when I was pregnant with our next Daughter... So I was falling, then too? Ha!

Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hoping my day will get better. Started off on a crazy note, add in Princess getting into everything because she's looking for attention while I'm super busy.

Jazzy, hope you made it back home. Also, hope that you have the energy to catch up with work. Tough when you are self-employed. Work is almost always where you left it before vacation (hubby is also self-employed). Glad to hear you had a good time. Did you meet any handsome fireman? Wait, are you into fireman like Phyllis? I was going to say cowboy, but I don't think NY has any.
Ms. Chevy, I love it when you share anything about back in the days.
Mommy, take a deep breath......

Just heard from hubby....the protests/strikes through out Nepal have not calmed down. The political upheaval has caused a huge gas shortage and business is being paralyzed. People have to wait 40 hours+ to get gas. There are miles of cars waiting. Taxi is crazy expensive at this time (if you can find one). I hope the situation will be resolved soon. Orherwise, hubby would have to walk a whole day to the airport. No horses or camels..

Loverly, Is DH safe. Nepal has had such turmoil for years? I enjoyed public TV show about food in Tokyo. Just like the foods you posted always going fr beauty in presentation and good tasting . Can't get a better combo than that. Post pretty foods when you can.
Still working hard on Toradol. I worked so hard yesterday the computer got confused. I thinking it's funny when I confuse the computer. You can imagine what DH would have to put up with.
Quick swim then off to two doc visits.

Hi All- Got a Pm from Blondie and she turns 76 today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLONDIE!!! Hootie Hooo! Hugs and love your way!

Smarty love the crooked house quilt, very fun! Mags that quilted piece is magnificient. Thank you for sharing. I truly think things like that are just "painting" with material- full on artists in every sense of the word. I have been sketching and drawing some ideas I have about what stage 4 means to myself and my Grandmother Mimi who also died of it. I have about 4 drawings completed but they are personal and are without clothes, just torso. If I get over myself I might post them. It would balance the puky pink wash done over the suffering of breast cancer. I resent that all this pinky happy October stuff washes over the very real struggle 25% suffer and die... it ain't nice or fun or pretty in pink.
Phyllis- your winning pergola is BEAUTIFUL! What a great thing to win! Enjoy it. Get some Thompson water seal on it before winter sets in to protect the wood! The only thing I ever won was a 2 ft cat tower in a drawing at our no kill cat shelter... Emmy cat has gleefully shredded it! She came from Friends of Felines so guess she has the right!
Loverof life- Hope your DH is careful and gets safely home. It is such a tragedy there in Nepal. Thank you for your kind words of support. I sometimes feel just insane to try anything considering the odds and my general state of health. It is very hard to say no to my family. DD3 and I had fun making the vegan muffins. From all accounts they were enjoyed by DD2 and hopefully will keep her from starving. She has a habit of running late to class and skipping breakfast, eating a bagel only until dinner. It's not healthy. I wanted to show her baking can be worth the effort, freeze and grab and go! If you are going vegan then it takes planning and effort.
Chevy you are great friend! Love your pictures from the past. Jazzy sounds like the wedding was wonderful. Susan what we go through most folks wouldn't believe it. I get swollen too.. all over. Invasion of the body snatchers! Pop your onc with snarky reply on the weight. I gain 6 pounds every week and they pull off 6 pounds every week... hopeless on my ankles, feet and shins. Just keep trudging along... shuffle shuffle! Patty hope you are home and stay well enough to remain there! Hugs to everyone I didn't mention cause I can't remember everything you all do! Be well.

Ok Blondie.... i am confused. Just got another Pm - "no Birthday was August." So false alarm it's not Blondie's Birthday, but we can wish her a Happy Fall day! Pain meds can mess with the memory.

Hi ladies- yes, I made it home with no problem last night. Got home, unpacked the suitcase to throw a load of laundry in, talked to my sister to make sure she got home okay (we seperated for our flights home in Denver), and then CRASHED! I woke up today at 3 a.m. (which was two hours later where I have been the past five days), but went back to bed and slept until 8 a.m. I have a meeting this afternoon and some other calls this week and must get my butt in gear. Moving slo mo this morning.
Chevy- there were some strange looking clouds down here yesterday, and it rained last night. The balloon fiesta is going on now, and it sounds like it may be rainy off and on this week. That has been happening the past few years during the event. I won't be going to the field, I stay away with the crowds, etc.
Loverly- I met some nice men along the way on my trip. Real hottie from Santa Fe on the way home yesterday, but he was married. Everyone told me it was my turn to get married and said "nope!" LOL!
And yes, Blondie's birthday was this summer! Hi to Blondie!
Got some things to get to ladies. Wishing you a good day!

Day is finally going the way it should. Except for a few dishes, everything is done! Princess calmed down long enough for me to concentrate.
