Spookie, called Apple. A new battery is $300. A new iPad Air is $499. So getting a new one and son will take this one and see if he can fix it.
I turned it off, it was cold to touch in about 30 min. Now getting warm after 20 minutes.

To see my friend Carol, who was full of life one minute, then a stroke took the rest of her life is unimaginable... She can't think, or talk or barely move. But to LOOK at her in the wheel-chair, you would see "nothing" wrong. There is just nothing left in her head..... Been almost 7 months, and nothing is different... I pray for her every night.
So NO, stage lV for any cancer still leaves your fighting spirit, your hope, and a long life....
Okay, my chicken neighbors flew to Hawaii! HE forgot his ID!!! and here I thought HE was the one who had the brains.... So they want ME to go IN their house, with that security system that scares the bee-jeezus out of me, and go in his closet and find his ID...!!!!! Good God, that whole idea has me thinking the cops will be out front waiting for me! THEN I'm supposed to take it up to this place, and MAIL IT TO THEM!
MY QUESTION IS, IF I GET IN THAT HOUSE WITHOUT THE POLICE CAN I SEND THAT ID WITH A FAX????? I mean wouldn't that be quicker? They GOT there, let them get HOME without it, right? I tell you..... 2 people THAT young age, and get through life with a pocket-full of brains is just mind boggling ! They got more money than brains! His folks AND hers keep them buying everything in the world!
I sent her an email this morning, telling her to check this out.... I don't mind DOING it... but I just don't want to screw it up, like not setting the alarm, or not getting it to them in time.... I can't figure out, why he would come home from work, take his ID out of his wallet, put it on the shelf in the closet, and get out to DIA withOUT it! They got 2 kids! Now I had 2 little kids, and I didn't lose my MIND! All 4 of them went to Hawaii... So I guess kids don't need ID's?

Oh Spookie...I was on the last page, and posted...Then saw this page...sorry about those kids. Sounds like an up-hill mess for your Daughter. Didn't one have something to do with you falling and breaking your wrist? I wouldn't watch them either.... Is their Dad in the mix? Can someone else intervene and help these two?
They should have to do community service or something... I know what WE would have gotten if my Brother and I did something like that... but I heard that type of punishment is no longer acceptable. Sounds like no boundaries, or discipline, that that one influences the other and all hell breaks loose....
Rosie, I never heard of a "pan" drum either, until Jazzy talked about it, and I looked it up. Costco Lasagna....Hah! I bought that Chicken Fettuccine once from them, and MAN, that stuff was good for about one bite... But then it gelled altogether, and got worse looking by the minute... I finally took the chicken chunks out, rinsed them off, and took them to this little dog that lives in the home near Theresa....! I mean the DOG doesn't live in a room by herself, she lives with WILMA...and her name is Abby, and I take her Chicken every time we go see Theresa! See? I have brain-cells, they just are getting sparser.....

Just one more thing... ONE time my Brother, threw a fire-work on the ground towards these girls that were walking... One girl got a hole blown in her leg!!!! They sued my Mom and Dad! And somehow that's all I remember about that, because I think I blocked the chit-storm that happened after that.... He just wanted to scare them.... but it caused a BIG mess!

Spookie- I went back and read your post about your DD and grandsons. I am so sorry about what happened. Ruin her birthday indeed and then some. I don't blame you for not wanting to have them with you after school. I hope things get better for the family soon. Hugs sister.

spooks, my hubby's brother was kicked out if everything. Such such trouble. There were 6 of them, he was 4th. My hubby followed him by one year, so all the teachers looked at him like...here we go again. My hubby is to scared to be bad. But this bad bad kid, turned out to be one of the best people I have ever been blessed to meet. And luckily his mom lived long enough to see that. He has 8 children. You can only imagine how he raised them. There were raised so strict cause of his past. He knew the trouble that was out there...lol his kids are a joy to be around. One really bad kid and a great story in the end. We never know what the future holds.
My daughter and hubby are in this afternoon. Haven't seen them in 2 months.....I'm so happy

I hope it all turns out well. If I had them full time, I wouldn't have put up with their chit from the beginning. But what can you do? I've tried. My SILs mom has married 5 times, so he has no idea how a father should be. DD wasn't raised this way, I was strict. She isn't blameless either. I just sent her a few suggestions for them, don't know how that will go over.

Loverly, Preivously it.said deamination in the liver, but that's the same source that said it didn't cross the BBB. I'm thinking I must have miss read that though. Dailymed had all those neuropysych s.e.'s. So it had too. Still punked

Spookie- I hope everyone can get to the root cause of what is going on with the boys. I am sure there may be many reasons for what is happening, most things in life have a number of factors occurring until something reaches a breaking point. Nothing is every as simple as it seems. Hopefully your suggestions will be welcomed vs. anything else.

Chevy, I've been wondering how you know your friend with the stroke can't think if she can't communicate. If she really can't think, that is indeed a tragedy.

It's like she just "isn't there..." She can re-act to what you say and then she either laughs...or says YES and NO! But then nothing.... I think she understands what we say, just can't get a thought out..... One time she was TRYing to say something, and it came out all garbled, and not understandable..... Just a bunch of letters of the alphabet put together in no order.... and she SHOUTS.... probably trying to say what she is thinking..... But her "thought" just stays for a second.....
She just mostly sits there, listening... I just wish she could talk.... like simple words... and maybe only one at a time.... but her brain won't let her. So I can't call her.... I post photo's on her FB page... and hoping her SIL will show them to her.... It IS a tragedy.... one second everything is fine.... then the stroke.... and laying there for about 6 hours.... and now I guess you could say she is lucky to be alive.... but I'm not so sure.....

Hi Wren, Popping in. Aphasia is a disruption of ability in communication. It all depends on what part of the brain was affected and if the right and left halves are communicating. The neurologist with the help of the Speech Pathologist can determine what functions are present. In the USA stroke/head injury teams evaluate their skill portion to define the problem and solutions for helping the patient and family. The key in the end outcome, is that family and caregivers use the best measures to communicate with the patient.
The outcome of that evaluation doesn't always get communicated well. As in Chevy's friend. If her deficits were adequately communicated to the family and caregivers, they would have a better grip on how to communicate with her. Based on Chevy's description, something's have been missed.
I had a patient one time that was brought in for what was initially diagnosed as a TIA. TIA was ruled out. Docs learned he had a previous stroke with expressive aphasia. He was as he was before. Original dx at hospital associated with Duke. He came to our little town and was excited to see his sister's. His speech got garbled more than usual b/c of excitement. Not unusual in his case. After doing some questioning, I found out no one had ever explained to him and the family about aphasia and his particular aphasia. This was 6 years after initial episode. This shouldn't have happened. They were all very happy to learn the stuff I taught them for his case. Each case is different.
The involvement of a Neurologist and Speech Pathologist/Therapist in developing a plan, is immensely important to help the brain injured patient communicate. In Carol's situation she is thinking. The sending of the message sounds like it is the primary expressive aphasia. But they're many types of aphasia, and they can have a mix of several. Hence, the need for specific evaluation and a plan to teach the patient and family.

Chevy- I am sorry your friend has not been able to recover better from the stroke. I remember you saying they found her after a long time and know that quick intervention usually results in the best recovery. I hope she can enjoy your photos. Strokes and dementia are both terrible diseases that rob the mind and body.

This knowledge of aphasia's goes back along time. It was there when I was in nursing school in the 70's. Not sure why they're are failures in the system.

Have Pm'd with Zills, She's two weeks out from an ooph and one week out from her 6 y/o having a tonsillectomy. Her son is on break now and looking forward to him encouraging her daughter.

Yes... they ran all kinds of tests on her, both in re-hab and in the hospital... Then after the physical therapy, speech, etc. they released her, and showed he Son how to care for her... And her x-dil works with her daily with flash-cards, etc. Her fiance takes her for short little walks to the living room twice a day, with her walker... Then her Son takes over at noon, and lives with her.
He takes her to plays! She always loved that! And to a relative's wedding! He posts pictures of that... Just that with all the tests, help, physical and speech therapy, it doesn't really help her too much.... Maybe it will someday.... Never say never.....

Chevy, my sweet Chevy, actually you have said more than before. What I hear now is that the family has been taught about her aphasia and is working with it. She is communicating with them. They are communicating with her. The communication has changed, but they're is communication. She's in there. She's thinking. I have recommendations on what to do on a visit if you want them. Otherwise, I'll be silent.

Ok....my daughter is pregnant!!! They told us they were going to wait since hubby is starting medschool residency....they changed their mind. Never thought I would get a chance to see grandkids....she is 11 weeks. And feeling great
