Okay, now the sun is shining! Only 50 out, but blue sky.... Of COURSE it is! This is Colorado! Smile

Lilgoats.... That reminds me of my Grandma.... All my life she was this little feisty German hard-headed woman, that was all business! Of course she had a hard life, dealing with Grandpa and all... But we always thought she was just plain CRABBY! Didn't take any crap from ANYone! Then she got older.... My Mom & Dad moved away.... And Grandma didn't have anything to do with anyone anymore.... except me.

And when I drove her places, sometimes I just wanted to push her out of the car! But I was the only one she had... the rest of the family didn't want to have anything to do with her.... (She was my step-Grandma.... from Germany.... And got my Dad & his Sister when she married Grandpa when she was 21, and the kids were 5 & 6) And Grandpa was a drunk........ But they stayed together.... EVERYone did in those days! Then she was well prepared to take care of herself after he passed away.... too strong to do any different.....

But when she had a heart-attack.... it all changed! She became a different person, and that is when the Dementia set in.... slowly at first... but it got a-hold of her, and after a couple years, she didn't even know anyone except me.... But it was then, at the beginning, when she became like MY child.... All that hard-nosed personality was gone... I knew I was the only one who would care for her...... Loving her, came so easy....

I am so lucky that I had that time with her....! Same with my Dad.... He was a drunk all my life.... But after Mom died, he just about died of a broken heart.... And I got to see him in a whole new light! He depended on me.... even in a different State! We talked all the time.... making up for lost time, and a lot of unhappy memories.... Funny how your life changes, and your "family" becomes so very important to you......

Sorry about your neighbor's house Lilgoats.... All of us, and our "things" are only here for a little while.... We have to enjoy that!

Doing ok. Spent the last four hours doing a computer chore for cousin that would have taken 15 minutes if DH had replaced the ink cartridge on the house printer. We decided to use the one we got cousin for Christmas... That she's never been able to use. It's Bluetooth not wifi so the connection is weird. The document she needed printed would not display correctly on her windows computer but I have acrobat pro on my Mac. So finally got it to pair but the ink has been sitting for months, so it took repeated cleaning to get it right. Finally got it! Now I'm aching from the standing and sitting with my feet down. I have developed an awful ache in my left leg, probably the arimidex because it feels deep like bone pain.

Well y'all needed to know all that, dint ya? Took a pain pill. Dogs are racing around the coffee table. That's what they do. Then they will lie down and he will groom her like a monkey.

Actually, things are better today, just cold! Highs in the upper 40s. That front that came through is wreaking havoc over in the midwest now.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr. I don't think I could live in the snow states. I would hibernate until summer.

Ms. Sas, French crepes are usually eaten as dessert and are made from wheat or all purpose flower, I think. Rice flour is used in VN crepes. Turmeric spice gives the crepes its yellow-orange color. Usually, yellow onions, green shallots, thin sliced pork, calamari, and peeled shrimp are added to the crepes. They are served with herbs lettuce and fish sauce.

Took the girls for Pakistani/Indian food this afternoon. Good food. DD1 said she was culturally enlightened.

Loveroflife- you are making me hungry! That food looks delicious!

  • Jazzy, good point about the additives. This is why I love talking to other patients. I've never taken much in the way of supplements other than flintstones vitamins when I was a kid, so I wouldn't have thought of that.

Spookie, poor Kris! I hope his paws are feeling better. Sorry your husband is so stubborn, but I think that's males for you. Getting my Dad to go to the doctor was almost impossible as well. Wish I had an answer about how to make him be reasonable.

Susan, sounds like your brother is aware there is an issue and is doing some reading. It's too bad he won't work with you on this, at least at the moment. It's good she is not living alone, and you are also checking in every week. Love the owl mug, he should be our mascot.

Loverly, your backyard looks nice, fig trees or not. The crepes look good, too. Yum. There's so much asian food I haven't gotten to try yet.

Chevy, if Theresa can stay at the rehab place and keep the same roommate, that might be a good option if she can no longer return to assisted living. Some places make you change floors when you move from rehab to skilled nursing, and usually the skilled nursing floor is not as nice. Usually it's more restrictive and there aren't as many patients who are up to interacting with each other. Just my experience with relatives. If this facility has mixed floors, that would be good, I think.

That guy shoveling snow in his shorts and sandals reminds me of the teenaged son of one of my co-workers. He actually did that when nagged by his mom to go help shovel. Then of course his Mom freaked out!

Goats, I totally thought Kanorado was a local nickname for a region, then I realized it was a city! I like the idea of a Dairy Queen Blizzard warning a lot better.

Mags, hope your leg is feeling better. The thought of your dogs racing each other around the coffee table brought a smile to my face. They don't need a reason, dogs are just random like that.

The tropical storm is now at my house. Had quite the day, had to put a new battery in my car unexpectedly. Managed to get to my meeting anyway, and had lunch with a couple of colleagues who work for different places. One of them has a husband who is a lymphoma survivor, so it was good to talk to her.

Loveroflife- We took our Chinese adopted daughter to a lovely Mother's Day Brunch at an Indian Place here in town. She was just 5 years old maybe. She walked into this packed restuarant and made a face, made some pretty funny deaf OMG what is that smell kind of noises and proceeded to hold her nose in mock horror! Needless to say she ate tandori chicken and white bismati rice and fruit... wouldn't touch anything else and declared Indian food was nasty. It was so funny. She held her nose the whole time. To this day she shakes her head and says I would rather starve first. So our attempts at cuturally widening her taste buds totally failed. My Vietnamese kid will eat just about anything and is game to try anything new and different especially if it's spicy! I love palak paneer.. might be mauling the spelling but yummy! The food looks delicious.

Sorry about all the wild weather. It was gorgeous here today. DH and I went to a bird sanctuary and watched the ducks and hawks with binoculars and a spotting scope. It was nice to get out of the house! I can sit in the van and happily watch the wildlife. It was cool and breezy but sunny and the clouds and skies were lovely. There is a big storm coming Thursday afternoon and lots of rain and snow in the mountains come the weekend. We need the snow pack. Stay warm and dry ya'll.

Loverly, I did do the crepes as dessert crepes. The videos were the game changer. Each one had a bit different technique and some had goof ups that they then showed how to recover. I will try savory ones soon. My booboo --I left empty pan on the burner after the last one. Pan was fine though. Essentially, the only difference between dessert and savory is sugar and turmeric? I did do brie crepes :)

Cubbie, hope the tropical storm doesn't mess with your area too much. I looked at the storm on the computer weather channel. It's starting off like last years winter with the east coast getting all the rain. Hate to see the Carolina's get hit with flooding again.

Rosie, I miss bird watching. Dh and I would go a couple three times a week. DBF's comment when I pointed out a particular duck and asked what he thought. "It's a f**king duck".........Knew bird watching wasn't going to be much in our future. But this last time, he was very cooperative. I knew though it was just to make me happy. Cute story about DD.

I was going to ask how you made the crepe. Brie crepes sound yummy. My mouth is watery now. I think the difference is the flour used- rice vs. all purpose. Anyway what are you doing up so late? Has it been three days since you take baclofen?

Rose, very cute story about DD3. The spices used in Indian food can be overwhelming for little one's taste buds.

Goats, sorry about the neighbor. How long have you known them? I have a question about tea for you and Zill. Have either one of you tried olive leaves tea?

GOOD Morning :) Busy next few days with Birthdays. Everyone gets to be another year older. Has a special meaning to us all :) Queenie today, Spookie -14th, Kathindc- 16th. Have I got that right?

Loverly, sleeping well. I'm generally up about every 4 hours. It's a normal thing. Baclofen so far so good during the day. Headaches are definitely inside versus scalp. Once the baclofen relax the skull muscles, I could tell the difference. But getting better every day. The MRI fixed the tinnitus on the left. Waited this long to say anything, didn't want to put the jinx in. It's been since last Wed. Hope it's permanent. Hummingbirds are special :)

Well, I guess now Phylloblizzard is probably digging her way out. We just had fires and wind gusts in the 40's . Very high chance of fires today to.

Oh wait....... Yes Cubbie.... Judy, said if she had to stay there, she would keep the same room-mate... THIS place is on one level... very tiny, and not 1/2 as nice as the Taj-Majal- Assisted Living place where she was... I really don't know why she wants to go back there...!

I think the room might stay the same?

I don't know how that works there.... They couldn't move them BOTH, could they? Very noisy where she is...right by the nurses station.... And the BELLS keep driving my hearing aids NUTS!

But they are always doing something WITH these people.... They all gather around the tables to get their nails done.... Exercises, the "beauty-shop" is always busy.... She really has no complaints....

We'll go see her in the morning.... Whatever makes her happy.... but I want her to be safe, also.
