Queenie, happy birthday!
Beatmon, when it all comes together you will have to come over for tea. Or wine. Maybe just a beer. Cousin wants to take a picture of me in my pretty blue flower chair but I wouldn't let her yet. She's going to help me tuck everything in as I just run out of oomph. And the ottoman cover needs hemming, it's a bit too long. No biggie.
I started bird watching not long after we got married. We would visit his folks in northern Indiana. His dad would sit at the kitchen table by the patio doors and watch the birds at the feeders. He knew which birds liked what, and had feeders for each kind that visited. He didn't like me much at first, so I would sit there and let him teach me about his birds, and he liked that, and over the years he came to be fond of me. After he was gone I inherited his bird books. I put up feeders here, but since BC dx they are sadly neglected.

Loverly - You must keep a darned good calendar lol. Not heard of olive leaf tea. Tell me about it. Had one cup of Yorkshire Gold and just made me one cup of drip coffee - oh so good. The neighbors - they lived across the street with street being relative in the country. The busy street, not our little cul de sac. I would guess the wife has to be in her late 90s - in a NH down near Houston. DH passed many years ago maybe 12-15. They were church members where I go but were already pretty inactive d/t age when we moved in. Came by and introduced themselves. Distantly related to my stepfather who is from the area. Big property 48+ acres though I'm not sure of what's what. Some cattle leased and still has cows so maybe that guy bought that. That was b4 I knew how to access the county property rolls. Anyway the house/48 acres has to have sold - off market per real estate. The man just across from me - think about a T intersection. I'm one corner of the crossbar, he's the other cross bar. Long arm our street, crossbar street is the busy street older neighbors lived on. Anyway he was haying the property probably just to keep it nice looking/fire danger down, it costs to fertilize/bale so bet he was getting the profits. Anyway he moved all the hay to his place. They knocked the house down a few weeks back and have been working today/yest like something is about to happen. I may see one of the older church ladies who lives just up the hill from me tonight at church meeting. Sure like to find out what she might know. It was for sale with "development possible" in the ad unlike a few years back when it was single family. I have to go to county seat sometime this month or next to pay the property taxes. Will be sure to inquire how platting procedure begins so I can keep abreast. Oddly enough I'm in one precinct and it's in another. Not that I can't go to commissioners meetings anyway lol.
Beatmon - hold onto your hat. Next week is supposed to be a doozy starting Monday. I hear deep plains snow. Our wind is much better today. Chilly in the shade but very nice in the sunshine.
Nope Mags that went WHOOP over my head lol. I have sadly neglected my feeders. My fav. wood one has been invaded x2 by wasps. Maybe this winter I can get it cleaned out again. My goldfinches seem so have flown the coop the last couple of years. I hear them in the trees but even with fresh seed they're not interested.
Started cleaning out houseplants to bring in. Oh my several have major ant invasions. I took one a hibiscus and flooded the heck out of it. Need to see if it did any good. The others are too big for me to move, DH has to use a dolly to get them in. I do have ant spray and it's not like they are edible. Can stay outside for a few days and out gas.

Happy Birthday to our own Queenie.

Chevster - I forgot to thank your for posting the youtube of the dancing turtle. That was the exact one I laughed so hard at.
Now I have to get something done around here. DH is off tomorrow and I'll probably get the you know what for the state this house is in. At least I did the dishes last night lol and PTL he has clean tidy whities done in the dryer.

Chevy, posted on constipation thread. It's a tough question and I gave you a tough response. Hope something helps.
Jwooo okay we will catch you next time. Is DBF recovered from the death of his Mom?
LOVERLY, I jinxed myself no tinnitus for a week, I say something, and it's back with a vengeance. Phooey!
Beatmom, LMG, Mema, Phylis, Patty, Cubbie all take care. Lay up some supplies.

Chevster - rather than clog up (Pun intentional) the constipation thread with something I'm sure they've heard. I use Fiber Therapy caps (same as Metamucil ones) from WalMart. Cheap, effective, swallow and forget. Must take with some water though. Anything he likes to drink besides beer? Any juice, flavored water? I hate cold water in the winter. I drink my jug water room temp in the winter. How's your tap water tasting? Maybe try a couple of bottles of Ozarka or local filtered spring water. At least you would drink up what he didn't and not expensive. The most expensive bottled water is cheaper than medical care for this for sure. I have a stubborn one too though not Italian - more German, hot headed Appalachian Hatfield mentality. The GI doc made me get these. Pharmacy did have to special order but more for my hemorrhoids than constipation but in the end (!!) all inter-related. Calmol 4 hemmorrhoid supp. Might accidentally find them at local drugstore but I had no luck despite GI doc saying they were there.
I would gag if I had to drink Gatorade. Hate the stuff and not so sure with the sodium content it would be greatest for your DH.
Praying that some solution happens. Can't be fun for him. Does he have any solution far out as it might be? What else could you be doing rather than sitting on the toilet trying to poop? OR Do you know how Elvis died?

Ha Ha very funny Smaarty. More stuff for my Word files. They have been sorely neglected crying "we thought you forgot about us". Ah well no need for Word. I printed it out

I was badly blocked a month ago actually 8 pounds worth of fecal , fluid and air . Very uncomfortable. Stool softener, one lacitive ( can't remember ,for females), and smooth move tea. I went for 2 days. And it was solid stuff. I still have to drink smooth move tea a couple times a week. And they put me on a gluten, dairy, and fried food free diet. I am eating softer stuff now like crock pops stuff, or soups. Much better now. Good luck. Not fun at all

Chevy, I've heard there are cookbooks for picky kids who won't eat veggies and fruits. Tells how to sneak them in without the kid knowing. Make a pan of brownies, put some prunes in. Pumpkin pie? Pumpkin works both ways. Snow creme? Extra fluid.
Try online or big bookstore.
Or get him some sugar free candy. Be SURE to read the label, if it says excessive consumption may have a laxative effect you have the right stuff. One or two pieces of that should do it. Think it's mannitol.

Sassy- I think Mommy has a birthday too. Maybe this weekend?

Happy birthday Queenie!!! And an early one to you two ladies Spookie & Kathindc!
Just lurking, reading and popping in to say hope everyone has a good night

Excellent idea Spookie. And yes - I googled Sneaking Fiber into Kids Food and lots of links. DD used to have constipation problems. She got raisins, carrots and I'd sneak Wheat Germ onto her peanut butter and jelly sammies for lunch. She ate most vegies/fruits freely and still does. Of course a 1st grader is easier than a fully willed husband. DH does not choose to eat them but will when I serve them. I know you can sneak vegies easily into spaghetti sauce, well pureed ones that is. I would assume meat loaf is the same. Cheese is pretty common for older people not to eat (you can tell I've been on the constipation thread) - not sure why. I do think lactose intolerance to some degree increases with age. I truly don't remember the last milk I freely drank. Now cooking with it that's a different matter and don't get between me and my ice cream lol.

Name that movie! Yes, we talked about it here once I am pretty sure. I know at least one of you knows all about this.

somewhere in time

ooohhh! Are we playing a new game? That would make a good thread

Smarty- we could! I just saw that pic on FB and remember we talked about it here. Name that tune, name that movie, whatever?

Happy birthday, Queenie!
Loverly, somebody put a lot of work into those Garfield cake pops. That hummingbird is gorgeous - I've never seen one like that before, we must not have them here.
Chevy, sounds like it's a good place, even if it isn't fancy. I found the sense of community among the residents and staff to be more important than how elaborate the building was.
Goats, you're ambitious, having indoor/outdoor houseplants. I have one plant that I have kept outside off and on, but mostly have kept indoors the last few years. The ant infestation is exactly why I don't do that much anymore.
Spooky, one of my coworkers had a trick for getting her teenaged daughter to eat vegetables - she pureed them and added them into other things without telling her. Spaghetti sauce was a good one for hiding a lot of pureed veggies. I imagine a lot of other dishes with a tomato sauce would work as well.
And the sugar free candy - I heard the funniest story from a guy on another board about those candies. He bought a bag of gummy bears for a road trip. He was meeting a client who was looking at buying an office building. He ate a bunch of the gummy bears on the drive, and didn't realize he bought the sugar free kind. When he got to his destination, he needed to use the bathroom - many times, while trying to show the client around. I can't tell the story as well as he did, it was hilarious.

Smarrty, great idea on the movie thread..............Send your son our best for success and a speedy recovery.
Chevy, good job. If he doesn't do what he's supposed to, and the worst case scenario happens, he can't say he didn't know.
To all talking about the chemical in the candy, it's sorbitol. I did a thing on it in the constipation thread pg24. My approach was on fruits that naturally make sorbitol in the digestion process in the gut. I linked to wiki where a description could be found to manmade products.
Susie, your baby is so cute

Loverly happy that Mitsy is making progress, love pics of her. Keep the stories coming.

Hi lovely ladies. Long day. Tire and brain dead. Tinnitus in full force today too, Ms. Sas.
Goats, will let you know how the olive leaf tea taste. Don't know much about it. Need to do some research. One of our neighbors moved away about three years ago because they lost their home. I miss seeing their elderly father working on their beautiful front yard. Family migrated here from Afghanistan. Very hospitable and kind people. A year before they moved, the father's health was rapidly declining....cancer had spreaded to his lungs

LilGoats! Is that from "Somewhere in Time?" I LOVED that movie...! I still have a tape of it! THAT and The Bridges of Madison County !
And yes, I have frequented the Constipation thread also, thanks to DH.... and YES.... Husbands are the stubbornest creatures on this earth! They acquire this trait, where they don't have to listen to a single soul ever again, when it comes to eating, drinking, and anything else that is good for them. And only when "things" get out of hand, will they mention there is possibly a problem. Ha!
Oh DRATS! Smarty just SAID it! I thought I was the only one old enough to remember! I don't exactly remember what the story-line was, just that it made me cry, and was beautiful.... Same with Bridges of Madison County.... Right now I'm more into Magic Mike...
Cubbie... she is going back Monday.... It was FINE, before all this happened... but I will be happily amazed if after one week she is doing okay.
Assisted Living is perfect for people who can get around on their own... Dress themselves, Bathroom care, and joining in on the little events they have going.... And it would be easier to come back from that train hitting her if she was maybe 20 years younger... You are right... about the smaller place being involved with everyone! Her room-mate will miss her a lot....
They don't just let you lay in bed, wasting away! They get you up and you are INCLUDED in everything, and physical therapy 3 times a day.
Loverly, our new neighbors are GREAT! But I never see them anymore... DH talked to them a couple days ago, and he is really impressed by them! Born in 1964... So younger than our Daughter's. He saw him leave yesterday morning... "All dressed up in a business suit and everything! Must be someone pretty important."..... Ha!
It's a little different than the card-carrying official weed smoker and supplier that we had there before. Loved his Great Dane though! Guys used to park in back of our garage, waiting for him to come out so they could make their purchase! Sitting there smoking whatever! So finally I printed up a couple signs and taped them on the garage.... Ha!
NO SMOKIN' AND TOKIN' GOIN' ON HERE..... just kidding.... Mine were a little less harsh..... like YOUR CAR WILL BE TOWED AWAY IN 10 MINUTES..... SCRAM! (you high-flyin' little druggie-head!) Nah.... but I WANTED to say that.

Beg to differ, its malitol that will do it. Read the labels.
