GOOD morning lovely ladies.

Ms. Smaarty, hope all goes well today with MIL.
Susan, how was shopping with mom

Politically incorrect.................it was terrorism............

Chevy, you asked what a world without guns would be? Just look back to before there were any. Nations walked in and conquered other nations with knives, and swords, and spears, and bows and arrows. Greece had an empire that extended across the Middle East, and Rome conquered Britain. It's not a gun problem, it's a human nature problem. The solution with guns is not fewer but more. You couldn't get rid of guns any easier than you can put toothpaste back in a tube. So give everyone a gun, and teach them to use it. If there had been one person with a gun in that room yesterday, how many would have died?
Off my soapbox. Internet was down last night and all morning so I'm just now catching up.0 -
Mags with you.................

This was a planned event..........they rented the SUV 4 days ago, pipe bombs sitting around the house, assault rifles that are illegally held, thousands of rounds of ammunition.
He travelled all around in the middle east 2 years ago. Facts coming out hourly.
Neighbors are coming forth that new something wasn't right, but didn't come forward b/c they didn't want to be termed racist.
Yet our President says we need gun control...........Gun control would not have stopped this. Many laws in California were subverted. They have the strongest laws on gun control in the USA. These two radicalized Muslims broke the laws
Listen to the Dana show on 96.5
I think the bigger question we need to ask of all Muslims is to come forward and stop other Muslims from killing. That question was asked after Paris. A demonstration of muslims against violence. 30 showed up.

Coming out now they had contact with people on watch lists and they had searched online for ISIS literature.

You are right Mags.... And I remember someone had brought that up after one of the last shootings.... If just one person had a gun in that room, this might not have happened.... at least to this extent...
Yes, it is the people.... the radical people who care about nothing....not even themselves. They have so much hate in them, and it must just take over. I just wish we could all feel safe.... but any different "noise" in a shopping center, just scares me half to death....
I thought from the beginning, that since there were at least two, that it had to be terrorist related.... He must have just been waiting for the right time.... where he could do the most damage.... Yes.... it was planned.

Patty I hope you made it home. Morphine makes me puke. I know from puking on Monday my ribs are very sore and I was sore already from my fall on the cement last week. So I know repeat vomiting will make your sore and aggrevate the bone mets in your back. I hope you get to feeling better. Enough is enough isn't it!
Goats- just got reglan and carafate - to add to prilosec. I can keep fluids down it's solid food. Just backing up. I disagree on the gun control. I do not think we should have assault rifles for sale to anyone in the public. Millitary and police only should have access. All the hunters, target shooters, bird shooters and all would have access to all the same amo and guns as before. Too easy for the wackos to get access to assault weapons and go on killing sprees - for what ever reason. If Adam Lampart 's Mom hadn't given him an assault weapon 18 little first graders would be alive today in Newton, Conn. Stupid Mother and she died with the guns she gave her son. Same stupid mother in Roseburg Oregon! She knew her son was emotionally unbalanced and had been in special needs schools all his life, suffered from depression and disconnect. So what does she do she buys him lots of guns! She was an RN too! Why was she not also responsible? The folks yesterday were on a mission too bad they didn't care about their little daughter. She will get social security how ironic- pitiful. What a horrible legacy to leave a child.

I think we could all use something to life us up a bit, wouldn't you agree? I am not sure if any of you saw this today on the Ellen Show, but think you will find her voice amazing and her courage even more amazing. I personally think she has a wonderful voice and hope she has many wonderful singing years ahead.

Lyrics
Like a small boat
On the ocean
Sending big waves
Into motion
Like how a single word
Can make a heart open
I might only have one match
But I can make an explosionAnd all those things I didn't say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time? This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in meLosing friends and I'm chasing sleep
Everybody's worried about me
In too deep
Say I'm in too deep (in too deep)
And it's been two years
I miss my home
But there's a fire burning in my bones
Still believe
Yeah, I still believeAnd all those things I didn't say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time? This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in meA lot of fight left in me
Like a small boat
On the ocean
Sending big waves
Into motion
Like how a single word
Can make a heart open
I might only have one match
But I can make an explosionThis is my fight song (Hey!)
Take back my life song (Hey!)
Prove I'm alright song (Hey!)
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong (I'll be strong)
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in meNo I've still got a lot of fight left in me

chevy. - I always cook my beans in the crockpot. But I boil them for about 2 minutes first. Then I throw in whatever hambone I have left with little ham on it. Let it cook. Yum yum. Usually done about five to six hours.
Mags - sas. - I agree. Everyone who passes te background check needs a gun and need to know how to use it. Criminals are going to get them illegally anyway. Levels the playing field . My husband has been a concealed carry for a lot of years. I want to. Just can't stand the 8 hour class. Luckily Arkansas passed an open carry laws no permit required. So you can wear it on your hip for everyone to see if you want. I am excited. I had my own gun for a long time and have it on me usually at home. Unless husband is home. Then he can protect us. Since we live in the country, we get to target practice often. So I've been looking for some purses that have a side pocket where your gun can fit. And i also have a holster. Back in 1998 our town has one of the first school shooting. An 11 year old and a 13 year old boy killed five and injured ?10. Because they were minors then they stayed in jail only until they're 18. At my boys school they practice monthly safety drills. When I was in school we practiced fire and tornado drills. Never would have thought to practice for an active shooter. At the school now several teachers carry and they have 3 resource police officers. Still scares me to send them to school. My oldest son got into the argument a few weeks and was scared when he went back to school the boy might be shooting or stabbing. Truth was I couldn't tell him it wouldn't happen. I toldhim it wasn't very likely but to watch his back. Crazy world we are living in.
I am still in the hospital. Feeling great. WBC still low. Really really hoping to go home tomorrow. If not I make escape. My oldest son skip school and spent the whole day with me. Has been very upset. He needed to see that I was doing okay. At the end of the day he was doing much better. Husband took them to the doctor today and I got a referral for counseling. Praying it helps us all. Dh refusing to go. I'm hoping that it makes such a difference for us and he notices that he decides to go.
Hugs all around

Miz Patty: (whistles back companionably) Makes sense to let Oldest Son skip school to spend the day in the hospital with you; all this is upsetting for them.
Opera (Merry Widow, with Renee Fleming and Thomas Hampson in primary roles--wow@!%) on day trip to Chicago. Otherwise uninspiring, but lovely to travel from spitting distance of my own home, on Amtrak, to spitting distance of the opera house and back again.

Cubbie.. "Arafat" OMD I am so chuckling... haha super funny.. Patty maybe your son just needs to be with you. Indulge. I went to counseling with DD2 in 2014 and it made me go back into treatment her pain was so total. She wanted me to see her graduate highschool and so down the hatch went the afinitor. Counseling can be good if you find the right person.
Patty the first time I shot a rifle I was 10 years old shooting at plastic plates on tree limb up at my Grandfather's cabin. First shot I landed flat on my butt! There was always a big gun case full, locked. My Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Uncles all were hunters. They dressed and ate what they killed. They all had specially trained bird dogs - amazing dogs vezelas (sp?) and springers. My Dad and brothers were/all gun nuts. My Dad had a gun on every level of the house and concealed weapons. (permitted) Only a fool would have broken in. Once we had a mildly retarded autistic deaf child there was no way I was having a gun in my house, too dangerous. With my other kid being bipolar again too dangerous. Just our experience.

Good rest and have a safe trip, Ms. Smaarty.
Jazzy, thanks for the video. I love how generous and supportive Rachel Platten was toward Caly.
Rose, adding Reglan and Carafate was a very good choice. Glad you got some relief

Susan all your Christmas shopping. I know Jazzy's done and likely shipped. I'm practicially done. Glad you had a good day with Mom. Loosing your mom in the store reminds me of Stephen as a toddler. This won't work for your Mom, but it's a happy memory for me. I started way early with rules. One rule was when I said "sound off" it was a rule he had to answer "Here I am". Worked really well. Then one day I hear his little voice say "Sound off" and my brain went what? Then I got it. It was a rule. I responded "Here I am".
I bought two things that are interactive for my niece and nephew. Gavin and Audrey. 4&7. They are just the age that rules are being taught and life lessons. Their mom is a Teacher and a wonderful teacher. One item is a kids nativity scene. She can teach them Christ's birth story with the kids being able to handle all the pieces. I can just imagine how beautiful it will be. The second item is the Ten Commandments translated to kids language. For example, Thou shalt not commit adultery is You only love the one you are married too. I'll post the board if I can find it on line. I thought it ingenious b/c as they are written, it's not easy to explain to little ones in the beginning.
Patty, when it first came up about the bullying you handle it well then, the counseling will be the icing. I've been in counseling since the beginning. I always recommend it. It's a safe place. Try with Dh to get him to understand the kids will need counseling for along time. It's better for their future health to be involved. Right now he's in denial. Denying that you are going to die is not healthy for him. Sounds cold, but it's true. DH and I went as a couple, then we went individually. Our goal in the was to learn to deal with what was coming. Not sure how I would have handled everything if I hadn't had that time with Greg. The pain was immense, but I often fell back on feelings shared from those sessions. Gary our counselor was an excellent guide. Still is.

Sassy- no, not all done! One yet to ship and going to do that this morning. I went to the PO the other day and there were 30 people in line and only one person at the desk vs. the normal 3. After standing there for 10 minutes and not moving, I realized I would be there for hours and left. So I am going to UPS today and will pay more but no lines usually!
Oh and there was this lady behind me going on and on about how she had to pay for her PO box, she forgot, it expired the day before blah, blah, blah. Yes, I get it, you want to cut the line. So when I decided to opt out I said "well, I don't have to do this today and you can have my spot and good luck!" Ha ha, good luck getting the other 29 people to give you a break.
People are fun this time of the year! Said no one ever.....

Susan, wonderful!! It helps to have the right perspective, yeh? BTW, thank you Ms. CHEVY for sharing the article a few days ago. I haven't started on Christmas shopping yet. I am a procrastinator. God has humor as He had given me a daughter (DD1) who is also one. She put in two applications for the UC a few minutes before the deadline!! This child is going to give me a heart attack one of these days. Wait, that sounds familiar
DH told me I am having a taste of my own medicine.0 -
Queencatmom, if you are an opera buff, you will appreciate this performance of Strauss' Die Fledermaus (The Revenge of the Bat). It stars Kiri te Kanawa, and features Placido Domingo in his conducting debut at London's Covent Garden. It's a hoot! Especially great if you have any familiarity with German, French, and Italian as it switches between all of those and English. I have watched this so many times the lines get stuck in my head. There is cheating, drunkenness, and a masked ball. This is the performance of Fledermaus that could never be reproduced. Ok I think I will go watch it again.
