Hi, haven't caught up. Did a crock pot of chicken and things. Threw in some tangelo segments, will see if it adds any flavor.

Mags I caught the discussion on mold, but haven't read the whole thing, but I will. In the short term, science is in it's infancy understanding about all the bugs that affect us. I know that sounds strange based on several millennia(sic) of learning. I know I commented a bit, but the whole microbiome thing is growing so fast. Might not get to it until after Christmas or the next bottle of wine.

I've just been cleaning and sorting! Sooooo many blankets, spreads, quilts that I don't use anymore.... Got out the two spreads I made years ago... The blue blanket is pictures of all of my family, friends, and pets.... Iron on transfer paper onto blocks, and sew them onto material, and lined with fleece.... Made 2 more for my Grand-sons....
This one is a lot of the pillow tops my Dad embroidered.... I put lace around them, and put them on a sheet, covered with pretty sheers, and with lace and little pearls around the edges...
I just washed them both..... gotta keep them nice, and use them this Summer!

I reached for the middle bowl and the three were attached(glued). A candle holder. 3 types of glass. About 2$
This is clothhique a latter form of Fabriche'. He was likely with 'something' as he's reaching down. Paired him with a photo. About 2$
12 glasses for 15$. Of course no room for them. But very sparkly. Leaded glass. Won't even surmise who made them.
Small bone plate or salad. 4/2$
This was the prize. 10$ asking. Bartered. Got two covered butter, two knife rests, and this little beauty for 10$. Going to be hard to part with this one. It's pressed glass. Never have seen anything close to it in pattern. It's sweet. Maybe I'll just it enjoy it awhile. Then maybe not. Never know.

Foiled back glass plates 8/4$. Wasn't sure if the foil was between two layers of glass. Now know for sure, it's not. Bummer b/c it makes them unable to go in the dishwasher. The color is all reddish pink. The photo shows blues which is very pretty, but it's just a reflection. Paired with the china plates very pretty. Seems odd to pair so very modern with a very delicate older pattern. But it works

Well different shot. Seems convex versus concave and the color is harsher then they are. Makes me appreciate Ebayers that get good shots of their items.

My Dad was a Florist... Ever since he was 16... I remember going to his "job" one time, and going upstairs, and saw all the beautiful vases, glass-ware, etc..... and I thought it looked like "heaven".... Ha!
He always made stuff with his hands... Paint by number on Velvet.... cross-stitch tea towels, and all the pillow tops! We even did "sand and little tiles" pictures..... Mom had her Orchid collection along with Bonsai's....

Hey Chevy were almost in realtime. That's right your Dad was a creator of things with his hands. Splendid. That must be where you get it from. Was your Mom too? Did I send you a covered candy dish? The Coca-Cola glass yes, but I don't remember a dish. Post it. If I did, I guess I need to worry more than I thought . The pic is my Sil's Mother. I had a snap of her that Jan sent the Christmas after she passed. My intention was to give it back to her in the frame. Maybe she will get both.

Arched Fleur De Les(sic). Adams - Price. pressed glass. First done in 1898. Went on for 30 years+ - . Fleurs in each corner then at the center at opposite. The arch is over each of the center fleurs. This was thrifted about 7 years ago, for 25 cents. it was likely a a cheese plate b/c they're is a bit of a rim. Not found in this size on any web site. It was just about the time that Thrifts recognized the value of old glass. Many are now posting on Ebay or their own web sites. I turned around from the parking lot to give it to someone. To my benefit, they had no time to see me. I enjoy it's beauty everyday.

You sent me a crystal covered candy dish...with a lid. It is cut-crystal... you even told me about the pattern when you sent it... It is about 5" tall plus the lid.... Sits flat... the top is really ornate, with the etching....similar to this one..It is not "diamond cut".....

Mom loved flowers.... and their yard was just gorgeous.... They lived in the Bay area, in Richmond Ca..... She used to make all my dance costumes....

I'm sitting here with the Christmas lights on, drinking wine, Christmas music--Bing is singing "White Christmas". The smells from the crock pot are divine. Donnie was busy today. Rebuilt the entire thing with all new wood and painted a wrought iron bench. He also is painting a metal and glass table we picked up at the side of the road.
Finished a table for Stephen. The pedestal metal table base was from the first table Greg and I got as newlyweds in 1972. I had a naugahyde tablecloth that I had made for it from around 1980. Base and cloth have been stored away. The original tabletop failed b/c of humidity. Ordered a new table top from New York. Cheaper than making (Tiger Chef-highly recommend, here within 3 days ground shipping). Going to pair it with the thrifted chairs. The whole combo is going to be cheaper than the original table and chairs in 1972. Should work well on their covered porch. It's in their colors and they don't have a dining table out there. Maybe the only pic will be in the garage. Won't do it justice.

Our week of window toys has begun. For those who haven't heard the story, DH grew up in a large family, and his dad managed a Woolworth store. To keep the kids behaving the week before Christmas, each child who was good would find a toy in their window next morning. Then on Christmas Adam (the 23rd) the family would have their Christmas celebration, then Christmas Eve at his mom's folks', Christmas Day at his dad's folks. I loved the window toy tradition, so we have done that through our marriage. Of course, "we" do not give them to each other, "our elves" have the responsibility of finding window toys ($10 or so). Unfortunately, DH's elf has not been up to shopping, and hopefully will be able to do so soon. But my elf brought me something wonderful this morning. It is a Christmas ornament, a shiny red globe thing, that doubles as a bluetooth speaker. As soon as I charged it up, I started my Christmas playlist. There are 233 songs in it. I set it on shuffle. It's still playing.
I confess that even a full day of Christmas cannot get me into the spirit. I noticed that my NYC niece has arrived in Alaska to spend the holidays with her mom & stepdad, and brother, and all the animals. My heart just feels so empty, so disconnected. The days when I would cook for weeks and make candy, and cookies, and pies, and all kinds of goodies, and the house would be overflowing with family and love – those days are gone forever and my heart just can't seem to accept it. I just want to crawl in bed and pull the covers over my head for a few weeks. I know my body will never be whole again, and that's just life. We get old, we die. I hate it.
Sorry, but this is the only place I can say this stuff.

Chevy Oh so funny, I forgot. That's Federal Glass Windsor pattern. If you feel around the top they're is an opening. It's the sugar. I use them for Q-Tips in the bathroom. I gave one to Spookie and Phyliss when they were here. Spookie uses it for the same. Love crystal in the bathroom. Sparkly. Did I send that at the same time as the Coca-Cola glass?

So funny about the candy dish - The Kings Crowned Ruby Flashed. My GM had one just like that. And then last night went to Mexican Food Christmas. Hostess had the exact same candy dish out. I know her mother passed a couple of years ago and it probably belonged to her. She was in her late 80s. No idea where GM candy dish went. Probably my aunt or a female cousin. I think if my mother had had it she would have told me before she passed away.
Hugs Mags. We always went to my mom's for Christmas Day. Stepsisters, their kids/DHs, my brother/SIL/nephews if it was "their" Christmas with us. I miss that so much too even though it wore us out. Would give anything to be wore out from that now. Nasty looking day today. Looks like it should rain, kinda coolish. Back to 70s tomorrow. Guess if we can't have real cold I will take the 70s.

Mags, lovey, I get it, used to have this humongous family and visits. 88 first cousins and aunts and uncles, growing up was humongous fun with all of them. Left that with Greg to go to a family of 5 that visited rarely-----rarely with extended. They treated me like mycotoxin. Could never understand how somebody as wonderful and kind as Greg, ever was associated with them. Created a family here in Florida. It changed. People moved, died, or drifted. The drifted were connected to Greg and I, they left during the troubled time. Both of us having cancer at the same time. Either way what was isn't now. Few have accepted Donnie. Bless them. They get invited.
Turn the lights on. Listen to the music. Enjoy Dear Husband and Dear Cousin. Is they're some one that has no one that can be invited to Christmas dinner? My dear friend MK has had a falling out with her only relative. She was a T-day here. She will be at all holidays until she doesn't need to be. It is a tradition started by my parents when I was small. If someone needed. Then when they got the restaurant, it was easier. One year my brother brought all these kids from a state home. I missed that year. Regretted it till forever. The stories were amazing.

Mag, completely understand. Hugs. We used to host Christmas and or Thanksgiving almost every year for over fifteen years. No energy the last few years. Several people have invited us this year, but I just want to stay home and hibernate. I do mourn the good ol days

Sas, you're a lucky gal to have Donnie. And, isn't it nice to be at the age where someone else's opinion doesn't hold sway? As long as he is good to you and makes you happy is all that counts.

I miss the excitement of having my children at the house for Christmas but don't miss the exhaustion of getting the tree and decorating it (kids quickly tired of helping), preparing the meal, the clean up, the "cold" I came down with (turned out to be I'm allergic to trees), the headache I would get (turns out I can't eat country ham), taking the tree down. You get the idea. With DS and family 7,000 miles away, we watch the grandchildren on Skype unwrap their presents. Get together with DDs and have a nice dinner either prepared by them or we go to a nice restaurant that is open. When we first did this, I felt bad but then I realized the staff has to work anyways and we make it a point to give a really good tip to make it worth their while. I've come to the conclusion that Christmas is for the little ones. Nothing beats the look of wonder in their eyes.

Mags, I agree it's hard to get into the spirit with no people to celebrate with. It's meant to be a big family holiday. Or at least our expectations have been created by books and movies showing a big family holiday. Our senior center has a Christmas dinner made by our Jewish director and social worker. I think it's the nicest thing to do. It's not their holiday but they're helping people enjoy theirs.
