  • sas. Thanks for the dinner party update. I had been wondering. You are working on the menu and house. Already invitations? What's the seating arrangement like ? So excited for you.

Funny how having something to look forward to changes attitude. Gotta go get me some short term goals that are FUN ! Too cold to do much outside.

Oooh, love jambalaya or gumbo. Had jambalaya the other day. It was good, but California's nothing like Louisiana's jambalaya.

Susan we can do it here. What does "ant food" mean? Patty's living vicariously. Me too LOL. Well, I have one gal Maureen that is spice adverse b/c of scleroderma. I likely will set aside a dish for her before I put the saffron in. I will also have a piece of salmon that can be mic'd if she isn't okay with the basic dish. Loverly found me a recipe for the crock pot. Fish dropped in last 30 minutes. I wanted to do a test run with 3 other friends. Fell through. $$$$. I know now I didn't need to get the saffron. But seemed like a good idea. Probably will last for years. The fish has been surprisingly expensive. Guess I never used so many types at once. Did avoid a disaster(kind od a disaster). Found a dry soup stock base at the Asian/.Mexican market read the ingredient list when I got home. Had MSG in it. Already returned it. Saw they had the fennel bulbs. Most of the recipes call for it. Publix's doesn't have it. I was concerned, but now I'll pick one up next Tuesday to make sure it's fresh. I'm using Grouper. Can't find Monk fish. The big fish supplier stopped getting it b/c no one knew what it was. Would love your DH's input. Going to do the Rouille just b/c it's traditional and have both uncooked baguette for the Rouille, and olive oil toasted. Just to see which taste treat is better. Ask him if it really has to be dropped in the dishes?

This is the Williams Sonoma recipe for the crock pot.

Patty, they're will be six. My friends Bob and Maureen have been coming for 20 some years. She's a perfect talker. erhh conversationalist. Funny and a great enjoiner with new folks. Last dinner was the first time I ever sat them next to each other. Won't do that again. Upset the whole flow. They kept bumping into each other and squawked at each other the whole time. We all laughed and teased. Not sure which dishes to use. White, glass, or Orchard Jewels(lot's of color). Have to use the big white soup bowls, so, thinking white everything. Should probably set the table with both and see which pops. Surprisingly, I'm being quite lazy about the house. So, I scheduled Di for this Friday. I work better when she's here.

Patty did you get your a letter from Taste of Home yet about the subscription? Next issue should be Feb. I got a subscription awhile back for some other friends and they got a nice welcoming letter.

Loverly, not yet, the ducks are in place. Having Di, she's the major duck. She is so sweet. Cleans great. We have fun. I'll be a burn out basket case Tues, Wed and Thurs. I really like Dr. Retsky. He was a major source on the Toradol thread. it was a serious moment when he came on the scene. You know you were there. It was one of those moments not ever forgotten. I felt like I was drowning and he dipped a hand in and pulled me up :). I love his research. He has one of the most engaging writing styles I've ever encountered in research. Studies can be so friggen dry. His writing is like the pied pipper------follow me :). Last Pm with Dr Forget(Patrice). His study is enrolled and underway, so he's happy.

Kathindc-Kathy thinking about contacting Dr Love and asking her or an assistant to come to the weight thread. I had a chance to look at the Video link and I so enjoyed her. Thank you so much for sending me the link. She's on my fb feed, but never got into her before this. Her spirit is contagious. In one part she asked everyone to send in their idea's. She referred to an observation of the identification of cervical cancer being connected to a virus. The observation was made re: two woman dying of cervical cancer and someone thought about the husband being the source. HPV was identified and now they're is a vaccine. She is open to new idea's . She's doing allot of research on the Microbiome. That negative comment on the Constipation thread lead to another nice path. I'll contact her then post something on the weight thread. Did you see my post about the Zika? They're 5 reported cases in the USA all from travelers from Colombia. Three in Texas and a couple up north. To think a birth defect can be caused by a virus. Virologists must be falling all over themselves on this. Did it affect a chromosome? Is there a window in pregnancy that is critical? What's this mean to other birth defects? This is just going to upend so much.

  • Sistahs! I can't keep up with y'all!!!! Bawling

But I need your advice.... DH is going to start Rituximab (Rituxan) infusions sometime next week. He'll be getting it off-label for chronic kidney disease that is getting worse. Once a week, for 6 - 8 hours, for four weeks.

I did tons of research, and since it's a monoclonal antibody, it has the potential to be fatal, but not the same SEs as chemo. He'll be going to the Infusion Center in the same hospital where I had my BMX and recon. (I LOVE those infusion nurses, and I'll get to see my MO again!)

But back to my question - have you, or anyone you know, ever had Rituxan infusions? Your thoughts?

Blessings, no clue about the drug.................sorry. Interested though re: off label use. History of how it was found to help? Know you are flying through. But off label use doesn't happen in a vacuum. The network helped. What's the skinny?

Sas, thought you would enjoy that video of Dr. Love. Had a feeling she was onto something. Then we I read about the bovine virus study, I thought she was REALLY onto something. She is one interesting lady. I admire her a lot.

Evie is absolutely precious. I love the cry of a newborn.

    SusieM49,

Welcome, I also had both those chemos. Adriamyicin is nicknamed the "red devil". It looks like blood & can have devilish side effects. I had the treatments every 2 weeks ( dose dense ). If yours are every 3 weeks, the body has more time to recover. The meds they give you to tolerate the chemo, also have side effects. Lots of water and be aware that constipation is common. Prevent that, if you can.

Smaarty, I keep going back to gaze at Evie. What a priceless photo

For anyone interested, Dr. Love has an "army of women" who have signed up to be contacted about research projects looking for participants. She sends an email with news of the project, who is conducting it, and the type people they need. Might be women in a certain area or with a certain diagnosis. She started it when a researcher said it was so hard to find participants. Dr. Love said, I can take care of that.

  • smarty. Evie is a natural for the camera. So adorable

Sas. Haven't received anything from rom taste of home yet but will wastch anxiously fit it. Thanks for the dinner party details. How exciting.

    Chevy. Hugs. Loves.

Susan. Happy anniversary. Smart to celebrate earlier. Hope you get many more anniversaries ?

Dss are out of school for snow da again today. I am pretty certain they will be closed Friday also.

Love spending time with them but ready for a nap.

    Hugs to all

Blessings: I found an off label use for Rituxan for lupus nephritis. Seen patients getting it for lymphoma or leukemia, generally in combination with other chemo agents. Pre-med with Tylenol and Benadryl or other antihistamine. First infusion rate is 50 mg/hr and then can slowly increase as tolerated.

Evie is beautiful!! What a lovely picture.

You know that hand-bag that I ordered for my Daughter from "Michael Kors?" It came....!!!! Not the "real" thing, but I'm surprised it even came. They shut down the web-site... You know, I can't tell a knock-off from the real thing anyway.... so at least it came

Went to Costco today.... mostly for Janie, and we had lunch there.... always fun with her!

Sorry you guys are going through those treatments.... I remember reading about the "Red Devil"...... sorry........

    Hello back Peppermint!

Yeah, I miss Cammi too! I used to tease her un-mercifully..... but I couldn't help it.... It was so EASY! Winking She IS on the drinking thread, and I have posted there, but it goes faster than this one....She is still "working".... if that's what you call it.... Her and that phone! Those 900 numbers can really wear a girl out.... Hah! And she was always in trouble with the government.... She wrote them thousands of letters, telling them what SHE thought, and WTH was wrong with them! I thought for sure they were going to lock her up..... Maybe that's where she IS????

I'm 4 pages behind and I have no excuse other than I went for a pedicure yesterday and my toes are so happy. Cold but happy. Nasty rainy day here. I got up, put my tea on and turned on the radar. Turned off the tea and went to feed the goats b4 it really moved in. Raise your hand if you're in for the Blizzard of All Time.

Today is National Hugging Day. Hugs to Susan and Loverly for their losses.

I have cassettes and record albums but no 8 tracks. We do have a turntable but haven't used it in ages. Bummer thing is my VHS recorder won't do timed recording anymore - we are not into DVR here. Main TV is an oldie and DH not replacing until it conks out.

My fav Glen Campbell video and song

Now I'm reading yesterday's post Patty. That is bone chilling cold. And Yay for snow day and time 1:1 with DS 1. And for another snow day today and probably tomorrow. DF's brother/SIL traveling to Ft Worth from Hot Springs. I sent message via friend to be careful and leave early.

Michaels has a huge collection of coloring books. I have a couple mine are more designs than pictures. I think I got mine at Half Price Books but I think Christmas just blew the socks off the coloring book business.

Welcome SusieM and JazzyJuneBug. We are chatty just jump in. And yes we are bad about jumping subject to subject.

Sassy - My little grocery even has fennel bulb out in the sticks here. No idea if it is fresh, never used it. Not fond of licorice though I know fennel seed is in most chai teas - all the rest of the stuff must disguise it. You are one brave woman to try bouillabaisse but you probably do have seafood connections there. You might be able to get pint bottle of Pernod that mine stores keep behind the counter - since they are too easy to pocket. When is the big day?

What kind of CocaCola glasses are we looking for? Going to county seat to file DH's 65+ tax exemption tomorrow. Lots of antique shops - depends on time and how brrr cold it will be. I know of one shop that's easy to get to that might have some. What's a good price?

Spring cleaning - I have to clean up. Might be that DD's "Friend" visits us in April. OMD - this house is a wreck.

    Belated Happy Birthday Glennie.

    Happy Early Anniversary Susan.

    Beautiful Evie Smaarty

Blessings - I don't know anything about Rituxan but golly gee it does seem to be used for a lot of conditions.

Susan - Is your daughter is the last trimester now?

Lilgoats! I LOVE Disney World! It has made so many people happy, and it is just magical to see it.... Since Sheri moved to Orlando we have been there about 5 times.... Same with Universal Studio's.

Some people ..... (Older ones) go there every day.... ! It just makes them happy.... The attractions, the people, everything about it is there just to make us happy! I know the commercial part of it.... but that land is used beautifully, and I like to believe that "Disney" has done everything possible to help Florida, AND California, and their foreign ventures!

Vegas is for grownups, and Disney is for everyone.....
