  • Well said

  • Smaarty that is so utterly joyous - thank you for sharing that picture.Heart

Sas hugs to you. Sometimes it is quite incredible what we can get through. You look back and go "how the hell did I manage?" Have you remembered to give yourself a pat on the back for getting through so much? We are quick to spot how great everyone else is. Sometimes it is good to recognise it in oneself.

Ms. Sas, it is good that you are sharing your thoughts. Please don't blame yourself. The guilt is still eating you up inside. You did your best. You were not well yourself. Your are carrying a very heavy burden by yourself that will only beat you down and continue to tear you up inside. Leave it at the altar. Forgive me if I am too blunt. Love you.

PattyP - I've been wanting to ask how/where did you come up with your cute saying "Hootie Hoo"? When I lived in Las Vegas, I worked as a Home Health Aide, and most of my clients were from different parts of the U.S. One lady was from Louisiana and called a toilet brush a "Johnnie Mop". Another lady from NYC called ground beef "chopped meat". There were a couple others, but they escape me right now. So l was just curious as to whether your saying is just something you made up or is it a regional thing?

Also, since it was so sunny today, it made me feel the longing to see the new blossoms of spring, but since it is still winter everywhere, here is a pic of my lilac tree from last spring.

Smarty- lovely photos of you five gals. How fortunate Evie is to have so many of you to love her!

That's amazing Smarty! Could even be used for a Christmas Card... Or enlarged for each of you and hanging in a living room! Beauriful memories.

Sass! I was joking! I was teasing you.... I KNOW what prophylactic is....

    prophylactic

    [proh-fuh-lak-tik, prof-uh-]

    Spell Syllables

adjective1.defending or protecting from disease or infection, as a drug.

    2. preventive or protective.noun

    3. Medicine/Medical. a prophylactic medicine or measure.

    4. a preventive.

    5. a device, usually a rubber sheath, used to prevent conception or venereal infection; condom.

So I'm not as stupid as I look!

Sometimes things just hit us, and we don't understand why.... But we don't have to go through the pain, the same way we did at the time.... It was "yesterday".... and if we can't do anything about bad memories, then we move on.... we sweep old memories away.... and work on building our own special "gardens" of happiness! And we have a lot to be thankful for!

I mean even Rosie! She was in that black hole, but saw the birds all coming to see her, and it gave her some enjoyment.... It took her out of that place ..... at least for awhile.

Peppermint and Susan and Blondie, and Rosie.... always in my heart.... have a beautiful day my friends.

  • JazzyJuneBug I wondered about Patty's HootieHoo then I saw that the long time gang on here call themselves the Owlettes so I thought Patty is an Owlette! Now I am really interested to see whether this is the right answer.

    Over to you Patty....

  • Chevy that video before the sermon was very beautiful.

  • feekine feline. You are right on. Just made it my closing to all my owlettes.

Sas. - hoping today finds you in better spirits. Hugs

Jazzjune - your lilac tree is pretty. I absolutely love the smell of lilacs. Thanks for posting

    Jwoo - hello.

Susan. Hope you are feeling better today

    Hugs all around.

Well I was up until 4am. Couldn't sleep due to back pain. Ugh. Def getting a nap today. I've been up and motivated. Already been to store and back and got supper marinading in fridge. Dh is a deer hunter. I have always been really weird about touching or cooking or eating it. I dont like to touch any kind of raw meat. I could be a vegetarian but not my family. Since deer meat is not pumped full of antibiotcs and hormone growth junk, I am trying to find some recipes that we can love. Haven't really found a good one yet. I have plenty recipes to use the ground venison but its the tenderloin I am having trouble with. Any suggestions. ? Today i am trying a bacon wrapped tenderloin recipe. Now it's marinating with brown sugar and soy sauce this evening ill wrap bacon around them and secure it with toothpicks. Coat with s thin layer of white sugar to crisp the bacon and bake it in the oven. Fingers crossed. Thankfully dh and dss will eat almost anything. Not picky eaters. Gonna have some broccoli and cheese with it and a fruit salad. Anyone wanna come over ? I always make too much. Also , got some fresh greens at the store so we can get back to juicing 4-5 times per week. I can def tell the difference when I am not getting enough raw fruits and veggies. Just feel more tired or lazy. I love my nutribullet machine. We used to use a jack lalayne juicer but most of the veggies and fruit were lost in the pulp and thrown away. How wastefull. Anyone else juice ?

    Hootie hoo

Have you tried the crockpot? Very tender. Just like a beef roast. Can't remember if they soaked it in buttermilk first. Was a long time ago. I like deer jerky but depends on who makes it. let's us know how it turns out.

Sas. Big hug. I'm sure weather not helping but you have this big to do so you'll perk up and be off and running. It's ok to grieve. Maybe you didn't have time before. Just know that you've helped many, many, many since then. We don't know why. We will never know why but try not to dwell on it. Easier said than done I know.

I have a nutribulket too. Haven't found anything that I love. Kids turned off by color. Still feeling my way thru Ibrance. You're not afraid of raw foods? IV chemo was told to stay away from berries and salad bar due to contamination. I'm assuming this is similar? Also told no diets or supplements.

Tomorrow is my last day of round one! Hoping for some energy by the weekend!

Patty, a BIL goes deer hunting. I think his processor cuts it in chunks for stews, and grinds like hamburger.

  • ive had it is in the crock pot seasoned like roast. Family liked it but not me. The taste was OK but the texture turned me off. Is super thin cut .

Spookie I told dh to trty to get cut like stew meat this time but he didn't. Ugh. Men. So ground. Tenderloin and sticks of jerky.

Ivebeen to the processors and came away feeling a little more confident in eating the meat. They are a mennoite family. The place is completely clean and sparkly. They work behind the glass and you can watch the processing part thankfully not removing the meat from carcas. Yuck. Double yuck. Their entire family works there and then kids are homeschooled at night. From about ,8 years old and up they each had a job. Wrapper , cashier. Sweeping up etc. They are genuinely sweet people. They always have samples of different meats from diff animals. I have never ever ever tried one. No way. Dh and dss love it. Might be beef jerky , or pork. Or venison, or lamb. Etc. No thank you. I want to know what I am eating by recognizing it on my plate. Or. Vegsnd fruit they also sell homemade jams, breads. The best ever cinn rolls , etc. Cute little place

  • Dh bought the family a juicer at Christmas. Best thing is HE does the washing up afterwards.Nerdy

Patty - AllRecipes is one of my favorite sources. The recipe reviews are good too and usually trustworthy but use your judgment. About handling raw meat - get you some disposable gloves. WallyWorld has them, CVS, Walgreens. I bought a couple of boxes from Amazon. I needed one size both DH and I could wear so I bought 2 diff. brands. Think both are OK, size medium. Not like they have to be sterile haha or that you would need a bunch. This is the venison link at allrecipes.com

    http://allrecipes.com/recipes/667/meat-and-poultry...

Love you bunches Sassy. You did what you could do at the time. You were there for Greg. Please stop second guessing yourself. I do the same with my DM. But I can't go back only forward. You have been such a blessing to so many here. How's dinner partay preps coming?

We are both wiped out. DH got off at 4:30 am, home by 5:30. Had some hot choc and went to bed. I crashed on the couch for about 2 hours. Then we got up and fed the goats. He's back asleep on the couch. Hope there's no more inventory days until next year. He's full time so it's pretty much required he be there. Store is full of part timers who I guess are running the show today. I'm being particularly lazy and quiet to not disturb him. Need to thaw out meat for Taco Tuesday.

  • lol.

I love it ! Dh and ds2 does also. But ds1 thinks it is the worst possible thing ever, lol. I always give him the option of eating his daily recommended amount of fruits and veggies but he puts it off. Teenagers. You can put choose to put mostly or all fruits in it to be super sweet but we like - and we think we get the most benefit from - 50%-70% preferably greens or carrots then 30%-50% fruit. We always have fresh fruit but I also like the big bags from sams club of all varieties if frozen fruit combos at a great price. For best consistency always use either s banana. Or avocados. Or coconut oil, with each mix.

Patty, We don't eat meat but do eat chicken and fish. A friend brought back some salmon jerky from Alaska. Wow, that was really good. Most cured things are way too salty for my high BP diet. DIL has a juicer and gave us a sample. It wasn't bad. I'm not sure I would use one enough to make it worthwhile.

Patty- I juice! Well, I try to at least. Apples and carrots mostly, depends on what else is available. Sometimes I just order a juice drink at my fav health food store.

I am also a big fan of wheat grass!

  • I thought you probably juiced jazzy. I like many but my favorites is spinach. Banana. And blackberries. Yumnyum.

I was used to the men in the family always hunting, and bringing the game home, hanging it, and then cutting it up and grinding into hamburger...

The MOST fun was when they went hunting, us girls would go out dancing and drinking! It's like While the Cat's away, the Mice will PLAY! I mean literally! Loopy

Didn't think anything about it at the time.... And BIL did work at a game processing place, always gave us more Venison or Elk.... I really liked the meat.... but don't care for it now.... and not into hunting! I just feel sorry for the animals.... And I won't fish either.... I remember Janie and I catching fish and hurrying to get the hook out to throw them back in! I became such a sissy!

Then Sheri got me a Nutribullet... Finally gave it to Janie after using it a few times... I LOVE lots of fruits and fresh Veggies.... And for a snack, I mix goat-cheese with steak-seasoning, a T of Hemp seeds, T. of Chia, T. of Flax & Sesame seeds.... put it on those Mary's Gone Crackers, and that's good for you too! Well it TASTES so good anyway.

    Hey everyone,

Sorry haven't been on in a while. Well since the last time I posted back in October nothing has been done, however I do have a diagnostic mammogram tomorrow. I was scheduled to have surgery the first Monday in November but had issues with the surgeon. I called her office on Friday before to find out about taking my medications, she was out so the secretary contacted her. The secretary called me back and told me what the surgeon said and it didn't make since. See my surgeon gave me Valium to take just morning of so I needed to know if I took my regular medicine, she told the secretary for me to take the Valium as normal up to 12 hrs before which was wrong because I only had one pill. So I told the secretary to have the surgeon call me so we could go over it, she said ok and I would receive a call before five. At 4:50pm I called the office the secretary said the surgeon told her she was going to call me and figured she already had and assured me she will before Monday. I never heard anything from her before Monday so I didn't go in for surgery. On Wednesday the surgeon finally called to tell me she was sorry because she forgot. Needless to say she is no longer my surgeon, so now I just don't have a surgeon for now. I will be given my results tomorrow right after the diagnostic mammogram so will be sure and let you all know. If all is the same as last time they are not planning on doing anything until next July when I have a yearly mammogram. I still have swelling but have gotten use to it and the pain, I think I am allergic to something both breasts now have sores like blisters almost and a rash it's no longer just the left side. Well thought I would check in sorry such s long post. Hope you all are doing well and many blessings to you all.

Have not tried deer. Does it have a strong smell? Salmon candy from Canada is amazing.

Hi Boyd!! Still no answer?? Wow!

This video is for anyone who feels like screaming.

    Let it out

Venison has it's "own" taste.... but it is really good for you..... I used to flour the steaks and fry them until browned.... A lot more tender than beef now-a-days...

Hello Boyd! Wondered what happened to you..... I would have dropped that whole team like a hot-potato! That's excusable for anyone in the Medical profession to use that excuse....

I don't think I would wait until July either..... I would find somewhere else to go, if possible! You need answers.... Do you live in a small town?

Loverly.... those animals screaming is hysterical! Loopy

Thanks friends, sweet thoughts and you're right. It's the anniversary. Haven't thought about that stuff forever so long. Put it back on the '"shelf".

Kicked it into high gear, got a call from my friend around 4. His wife is in the hospital. Respiratory bug. She went into ER this morning. Hoping it doesn't get much worse. Hugs Donnie is making dinner. :)

  • sas. Yes. Nice job Donnie. You need some um. Distrasction

a friend had told me when I lsy the deer meat out from freezer to let it defrost and stay in fridge 3-5 days to let most of the blood to drain out. Then add garlic and I have never had that wild gamey taste.

Chevy. Too miserable to get too wild while they go hunting. But the boys and I enjoy some time alone. Sometime apart occasionally has to be good for most couples . your snack sounds yummy.

Well the dinner was delicious ! A def do again ! Yum yum only problem was that the bacon wasn't getting crisp in the oven so I put in in the broiler the last 5-10 minutes. Bacon was great but meat got a little dry. Oh well. They are it up.
