Jazzy, it's great your Sis donated her time and service to the Nepalese. With each short term mission trip, I left with a heart of gratitude. Wish I could do more though in some cases, but it had been a privilege to serve because I was given opportunity to make a difference.

Quick Hello to Everyone,
Yesterday was an alllll day long doctoring day. Also had my Zometa infusion which wipes me out for a few days. Good visits with docs, much better than last Wednesday
Lots of happienness here this week! Mags birthday, Loverly anniversary, Susan a precious new grandbaby, Jazzy had a cool jazzy experience........

lover, I will try to shorten the story...maybe bullet points...it was more than a day
Drove up when I heard there was a liver problem and they had to induce...Claire didn't want to see me till after baby was born....that is not the funny part. I don't know why, but when she is in a tough situation, it's like the exorcist movie, she takes everything out on me. Must be a safe place for her to go nuts. So she hides from me during those times.
So got to Michigan by 10 pm cause and to hospital next morning.
Strict instruction she wants to see nobody. So in laws and I are in waiting room.
Dan, my hubby, gets to hospital around 7 that evening,mhe had to work, so we went separate. He's the only one who doesn't care what Claire tells us. So he goes to the room and starts showing money under the door to see if they would let him in. I was hiding in waiting room. And it didn't work.
By 8 pm, Andrew told us to go home. She was still at 4cm, and going nowhere. They gave her an epiderel. So we all with Andrew went to the lobby, said goodnight, Andrew went to cafeteria to get something to eat.
Under 10 min later, Andrew....her HUSBAND, gets a group text from OUR daughter, that says, hey everyone I am at 8 cm. he goes flying upstairs while calling us and his parents, and we all turn around and head back.
Within 2 hours, she gets to 10cm, 6 pushes and Elena is out.
We are hearing NOTHING. So I started to bribe nurses for info as soon as we got back. The nurses were so cute. One walked by the waiting room with thumbs up....so we knew baby was born and everything was ok.
2 HOURS after birth, Andrew comes in to tell us she had a baby, at this point we are about to ring his neck, and all the other people in the waiting room are trying not to laugh . They have been teasing us all day. So Andrew won't tell us if it's a boy or girl. They want to introduce the baby to us . aFTER, they get into the room.
So the bribery starts again with the nurses....another lady in the waiting room said she went through the same stuff with her son.
We finally all got to meet Elena.
After writing this it prob doesn't sound funny....buy my hubby and I are real sarcastic, and we had a lot of fun, with nurses and waiting room people cause of these crazy kids. They definetly over thought the whole process.
It will be so fun to watch their daughter put them through the wringer. Poet justice is coming and I will enjoy every moment

Hello Owlies. Haven't caught up on reading. LOL the last time I did that a baby was born :O)
Busy with my addiction. Decided my new fav thrift shop is only a couple of miles from home. It's the Baptist church thrift. They price things the way I like--CHEAP. I'm Catholic so somehow I think I can say this and get away with it. I have frequented four Catholic thrifts. Three of four have Walmart or even Macy's prices. I've talked with them all and they think they are dah da ha da fiua. Whatever. Their prices are too high. The three that are too high I won't even go into anymore.
Yesterday at my Baptist thrift, I found
4, Seymour Mann Onion Pattern ramikins 50cents. 12$ ea. on R.c. Love it when markings are on item. Only bought it b/c I collect blue glass. Knew nothing about Seymour Mann, but I definitely like it. Fresh.
A complete punch set even with hangers. Anchor Hocking, Vintage Clear pattern. The attraction was that it was complete. Unusual to find a totally complete set. Very often they get separated. Plus, the base is wide. Many bases are more narrow. Tippy worries. Baptist thrift price 5$. R.c price 110$. 50$ for the punch with base and 5$ for each glass. Figure I should have at least one shower here for the kids.
These three will go to live in New Mexico.( Jazzy). They came in the set thrifted at Goodwill. I totally love them, but I have black countertops etc. Cobalt demands light and bright. Excels in white surrounding's. Arcoroc France. Arcoroc is tempered glass. Markings sometimes vary "France' or 'Arcoroc'. See how they just pop in the white background. On my black countertop they can't be seen. Not good. Jazzy loves cobalt. Very good match. Totally outrageous prices on the net. I paid about 19 cents a piece.

great story Susan. More pics please. So did everyone go home? Did they know it was going to be a girl and never told anyone? I've been lucky, out of 6 grandkids, I got to watch 4 of them be born. It's hard to watch your kid be in pain and deliver!

I made about 5 freezer meals today, just have to throw them in crockpot. I'll keep them on low shelf of freezer, or will have someone throw it in for me when they stop by. Looking forward to some good times in Oregon.

no smaarty, they didn't know. Birthing gas really changed. The doc said to Claire when the shoulders cleared, reach down and grab her. So Claire actually reached down, grabbed her, and pulled her to her chest. So cool.
Right now they are the typical nervous parents. I don't say anything, I am smarter than I look...Elena just did a vomit mess...and poop. Ok...so here is what ended up in the wash right now....their bed sheets, babies crib sheet, changing table covers, three swaddling clothes, many wash clothes, and they went through 3 diapers or more diapers. I kinda stopped listening cause I couldn't wrap my mind around how such a mess was made. Elena is being normal, I think the kids are trying to clean her up and move her to clean spots as it is all taking place. Oh the learning curve :

Elena came home Friday . I am trying to stay awake to get their laundry done...lol. We forget all these parts...i only remember the good stuff. Love mom goggles . Raising kids was a piece of cake....right ???

Susan Memories or really stories....... A mother with new born twins, a 9 month old that she was fostering, and her own son all in diapers 1950. She came to be known in the family as the laundry women.......................4 kids in diapers

Claire's hubby has told me I never took the mom goggles off. I said nope I haven't . I don't think he thinks that I really know and understand. I just like the bright side of things.
Claire gas told me she is happy to have someone in her life, tha t no matter how many times I have been thrown under the bus, I always think there is a chance that person can change. Again...not naive, I know the chances are slim to none, but it is so wonderful to think that maybe just maybe some people will get nicer.
I think it's a peaceful way to look at things
But ....if I don't get some sleep and rest soon....I will be revising all those statements.....lol
Dryer just went off...yeaaaaaaaah. Done with laundry. Whewwww

Ahhh the laundry......Thank Dog it's not until they get older crayons, playdoh and (forbidden) chewing gum get added to the fun.....btw steaming the dryer by tossing in a damp rag for a few seconds and then wiping up with a dryer sheet works on the gum IN the dryer ~ never did master the clothes!
I used cloth diapers for as long as I could. Yucky (ha!) laundry but never had to make an emergency trip to the store. DS never had a diaper rash until he had to start wearing disposables. He was 10 lbs at birth and just kept getting bigger....baby and poos got to be too big for cloth

Just checking in to add my congratulations to Susan on the new grand baby, she is beautiful! And to thank everyone for the birthday wishes.
My new room continues to progress, most of the inside painting is done and the lighting and air conditioning installed. Still to be done: inside trim and outside paint and trim; dog door, concrete floor staining, and new ceiling fan. Sometime in the past year or so DH moved my easel and palette from where I had put it and now of course no one knows where it might be. Maybe attic.
I happened to log on to an alternate email address that I use for junk & stuff and found 51 pages of email notifications from BCO where I had accidentally clicked on the notification link, probably on my iPad. So I've been doing housekeeping. Also trying to organize my pictures so I can find stuff. Folders are our friends.
(My new room. Is it a back porch or a studio?)

Mags, If you paint in it, it's a studio. What kind of paints do you use? Our foster cat was adopted and picked up today and I'm looking forward to having my art/computer room back. I have so many unfinished paintings from my art class, I'm going to spend the summer finishing. I draw so slowly and erase so much that it takes most of the class for me to draw it. Then I get it half painted.

Susan, funny how your husband was trying to bribe his way. Hahahahaha. Can't believe the nurses were in it also. Well.....I can. And you were trying to bribe the nurses also. Ha! That must have been torturing for you to wait like that. Don't worry. I can tell Elena is on your side already. She will be the main player in poetic justice.

Susan - What a funny story about waiting for Elena to be born. Since I've never had children, on average, how many times does a baby need to be changed in 24 hrs.
Jazzy - Glad your week is going great.
Loverly - As far as I can remember, when I had my mastectomy I had a drain in and the doctors and P.T.'s wanted me to lift my arm so my shoulder wouldn't freeze up. They gave me exercises of walking my fingers up a wall until I felt a bit of a stretch and then back off. Then I was supposed to do that a little bit higher each time to get my range of motion back to original. They also had me hold an ice pack under my arm for 10 min. after I was done. I never had much of a problem with lymph edema until now. Probably because of the treatments. I just wear my compression sleeve if the swelling gets too much and I have that burning sensation in my underarm.
Mags - Is that a light green in the pic of the room with the door open showing the BBQ? I'll bet your looking forward to the completion.

Sensi - Hope you have a great time in Portland. You can wave as you fly over or drive by Salem. The Doggy Dash is happening in Portland on May 14th and I'm renting a car so I can attend. There'll be thousands of dogs and hoomans. Fun day.
Before I sat down to make this post I had put a sheet of cookies into the oven. I'm reading everyone's posts and forgot about them until I started to smell the just beginning to burn cookies. Whew, got to them just before they became inedible.
