Susan the fireplace was a salmon color, very outdated. We bought masonry paint and used stencil brushes, we painted each brick then used a rag to wipe some of the paint off. We only did one coat, you can still see some of the oringal color through the new paint. It was much easier then I thought it would be. I also stained the mantel darker.
Shep the floor is 30 years old, I was restraining some some scratched areas and decided to do the whole floor. My husband runs when he sees me lol. He does like the end product though.

Hello friends!
ShepK, thank you for your prayer. Getting stuck in the middle is not only uncomfortable but also quite stressful. The ceremony went well and everyone behaved. PTL!!! DD was very happy all her aunties were there. Haven't told her yet that Daddy was teary when they played the Pomp and Circumstance as the grads were marching in. Of course he made it seemed like his eyes were bothered by allergies. The ceremony ended after 9:00 pm and since it was in the middle of the week we went straight home. No party. School did have locked-in party afterwards for the grads, but DD didn't want to go because she was really tired and didn't feel well.
Ms. Smarty, DD has decided on Biola. She was offered $14K scholarship. Tuition & boarding is still $35K after scholarship as it is a private University. She really wanted to go to Pepperdine, but even with scholarship we still need to come up with $46K a year
She didn't like the feel of UC Irvine. Lovely city. I was hoping she would go for it. That would have saved us some money. I told her that she better takes care of us when we are old (and broke by then). Minion, it makes sense that you have elevated protein level in CSF with a tumor in the spine. So hard not knowing for sure. Hopefully, chemo will take care it.
Forward, nice kitchen! I love white cabinets. You guys did a nice job on the fireplace. So now you can relax and enjoy your newly renovated home. Do I swim? Yes, but not really well. I can only do breast stroke. Didn't learn how to swim until I was 21. DH taught me. I was and still afraid of deep water, especially murky green water. Witnessed a son of a friend of my dad drowned when I was around 8 years old. It is one of the memories I wish I could erase.
Sensi, your fur baby is so sweet looking. I just want to hug and pet him.
Kathi, when is the wedding again?
Thank you ladies for the kind words about my niece. She is so dainty. My first biological niece on my side. I have 7 nieces, two of whomare adopted. Jazzy, you are right about babies reminding us some of the sweeter things in life.

Ms. Sas, good to take a vacation. Just take it easy on us with your "writing abook".

Loverly - Reece looks so precious. Glad the graduation went well. Also, happy that the swim meet went well and that the weather held out too.
Purpleminion - So unsettling being in limbo like that, but you seem to have a good handle on things. I hope your treatments are successful.
Sas - I miss your posts. When will you be able to join us again?
Sensi - Chance looks quite comfortable. Did you get to catch up on any movies you've wanted to watch? I have to say I'm a little envious of the fact that you have several BCO sisters so close that you can get together for lunch.
Lookie - Your kitchen reno is stunning. So fresh and clean looking with the white cabinets.
Kathindc - Hope the wedding goes off without a hitch. Sounds very nice.
Shep - How do you make sure Miss Pris doesn't get out near the gator? Considering cats do like to wander. How's Miss Marti? My friend in Phoenix just told me this evening they lost their old Rocky a couple months ago. He was 15. I first met him when he was a wee pup, back in 2000 when I was staying with my friend after a doctors visit at the Mayo Clinic. So hard to believe it's been over 15 years.
Susan - How are you feeling today? Did chemo go well this week. Today was my treatment day. As time goes by it feels like the 28 days between treatments are going by faster each month. I didn't get to see my MO today because she is in Bermuda with her family, so I saw a P.A. instead. Hope she is well rested when she gets back. She is a wonderful doctor. Smart and compassionate.
Mommyof2 - It's hot in Conn.? I would have thought based on where you're located, the temps would be milder. Hope you aren't kept up all night peeing all those fluids out.
Hello Jazzygirl, Smaarty, feelingfeline! Who am I forgetting? Anyway goodnight & may you all have sweet dreams.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to share that I have finally joined the 21st century. I am now on facebook. Now I need to learn to navigate it.

Normally we don't see 90s until July or August, but it has been really hot the last two days. Might not see 90 today but it will still be humid. Got more water in my fridge getting cold for later and make more ice for today after I remove the ice I made last night. My dog loves ice in his water when it gets hot like this

Hi Mommy! I realized I forgot to address you by the time I got settled in bed. Was going to ask you how hot it got yesterday for you to drink like a camel. 100 degree weather days are not uncommon here in the valley. We have at least 2-3 heat waves each summer. That is when even the birds and and insects are silenced by the heat.
JunieB, how are you doing with the prep? You are truly blessed to have a compassionate and bright MO. Mine seems preoccupied

Susan, you are selfless

Having lunch with Ms. Smarty this afternoon. We are going to a Vietnamese restaurant. I will order chicken feet and cow tongue
to expand her horizon. Oh wait, that's Chinese.Sensi, maybe you could join us when you are up to it. Don't worry. We won't do exotic food on our first lunching

Lover, it was 90 here yesterday. Not as bad today but still ho

jazzjunebug, doing better than usual this time. I think cause I am out more and doing more in summer, my body handles the treatment better. Shouldn't relax so much in winter:(. But I get a lot of knitting done then

Just popping in to wish you all a nice Memorial Day weekend. Relax with a book, enjoy something cool to drink, eat something good off the grill, enjoy family, friends and all the good things life has to offer!

Going to have a cookout on Sunday with my family and possibly our neighbors. Looking forward to having my youngest niece and nephew here

Short note now, will bbl....
Spent all day agonizing over a "big" purchase.
Best Buy Insignia 8" Flex Tablet - 8GB Black NS-15T8LTE ~ $39.99 Shipped!
It's an 8 inch tablet that can be used as a movie player by hooking it up to your TV with an HDMI cable,. Even uses a Verizon sim card if one is so inclined. Processor is decently fast. Had a 10 buck reward that was going to expire so I was able to get it for $29! I am such a geek......

WOW I thought I dive in tonight. Chose page 1207 and fell right into Junie's patty pans recipe. Devine. And Loverly says you are good to go for surgery. Counting down........
Loverly& Jazzy I miss Marly too. She just never signed in one day. No indication of problems and then gone Very strange. I left her PM's. I had the Mods send her an email. She told them she was okay. I posted that way back when.....no idea when, when was. Maybe we could ask the Mods to send another one? LOL Boob tube. Boob has another meaning: brainless, mindless, empty. Watching the boob tube means mindlessly watching tv. The indication for Pepcid 40mg ? I didn't hear that you had an ulcer or reflux. OH yeah, you haven't seen a GI guy yet. My lovely Loverly, I won't review the symptoms I know here. But you always drop in symptoms late. Seiously, what was the doc prescribing Pepcid for. Yes, I agree with the Minion about loosing the mind. Elk Grove that was the town of one of my fav movie's Overboard with GoldieHawn and Kurt Russell. Chit Loverly, OMD 1700000000. How did you survive that. Working it out.
Hi Mommy, what next study are you into too?
Jazzy, lovely garden. Send me your address chickie. I have enough treasures for you.

Jwoooooohooooandadioushoooooo
For anyone that doesn't know Jwoo. She is the true resident Owlie. She sweeps in, we feel the warmth and caress of the feathers and she's off into the night. Then sometimes she comes and sits in the tree and stays awhile.
Susan I was on fb wed. and everytime I clicked on Breitbart my computer was attacked. It was pretty weird. AVGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG to the rescue each time.
Purple, your so funny. You could be in Timbucktooo. At least I'm in Neverland. Guess I should go see the movie this weekend. OOps wrong story.
Shep loved the pic with the head pillow ---------so funny. AND then Walmart. You are so bad wanting to take pics of the fire and some poor schmoe is trying to do their job of evacuating you. Hahahahaha

All you dog lovers, which is just about everybody. Picked up that when Dini want's my attention he wig wags around my chair. As a consequence he beats me with his tail. Whip, whap, whop. Keeps doing it till I pay attention. Schatzi just barks real loud. or pokes me.
Hi Whenchie, you must be opening the pool today. YAY. My thing is swimming. But the temp I like is way higher than you folks.

Junie same thoughts as others. They're was a similar discussion on another thread about Stupids. this is what I wrote. " I have thought over the years I could mess with peoples minds when they ask what caused the cancer. I could say mindless things like "Toothpaste", "Coffee", "Chocolate", "Sex". Can you imagine their teeth falling out, can't wake up, never satisfying the craving for chocolate, that goes for sex too LOL. Please, come up with some other suggestions we could really make a good list."
She really, really showed how ignorant she was when she said " she had the audacity to tell me I'm wrong and shouldn't listen to my doctor(s). " So, pull the toothpaste gig on her.

Junie, that Chewbaca video went viral, Humongous viral.
Purple, buzzing, buzzing. . Don't worry about catching up we all have our phases. LMD is an abbreviation for?
Whenchie woo you doing okay?
So, Sensi, you should be okay, but if someone were to fall and you were to catch them, you wouldn't be.
Shep great pic of the tiger lily and the cat. then I scrolled down. Hahahahahahhhhhh
Smarrty, Okay the backstory on the nephew? She's lovely.
Loverly, your niece is beautiful
Lookie, the RENO is done . It's wonderful. The very marble I want. Great style. Crips I'm still two pages behind, but have to go to bed.

Ok going to try and do some catch up here. In no particular order
Lover-No cow tongue or chicken feet for me, though I do love Chinese food. I'm more a creature of habit and have been told I'm a picky eater. But yes to lunch sometime.
JazzyJune-I caught up on all my DVR, but have not watched many movies. Been watching Little House on the Prairie. 3 weeks out today and been doing some driving this week, so been taking the dogs to the dog park, but am refraining from throwing ball, as I still have discomfort in my arms. Been trying to stretch though.
Sas-Chance is lethal with his tail as well. He's gotten me in my chest a couple of times with it (didn't feel good). I've also given in, and am taking the full 6 weeks off from work. Because I would try and catch a resident if they were about to fall, and I can't risk hurting myself or them. Work is encouraging and insisting that I fully take the time to heal, even though I feel I could probably do some work.
Lastly can't remember who mentioned the "boob" tube first. My grandma use to call it the idiot box, a term that I now use and how I feel after all the tv I've watched the past 3 weeks.
Goodnight all. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Sas, taking the summer off. Going to get going soon on getting trying to get going on finishing my Bachelor's
0 -
Yay Sensi!! We could do lunch before you return to work. Maybe? I work part-time. I'm off every Tuesday and Friday.
Ms. Sas, DH prepares the tax paperwork using Turbo Tax every year. I just sign at the X. We got audited last year. The IRS guy was surprised it was our first. Not sure what that meant
Many real estate agents in DH's office have gone through it, even people who have their own accountant. Found out DH made an honest mistake on the return. We paid what we owed plus fines. Costly mistake!!

How true that is!!!!!!!

Sas - Good to see you posting again. Surgery is now 11 days away. It will be done in Portland and the SNF will be in Portland or near by. Had my latest treatment on May 26th and the next one due on June 23rd, so I'm trying to get it scheduled at the hospital in Portland for this one time. Called Ortho Onc's office to have him submit the referral to the oncology dept. Also asked him to make sure that when I am moved from gurney to operating table & vice versa, that they are very careful of my T11. Don't want to end up with a new fracture or in a wheelchair.
Loverly - I use Turbo Tax every year too. I sure hope the IRS agent wasn't implying that there is a problem with it. Of course my taxes are pretty simple. Being single and not owning a home, etc.
I'm so tired right now, so I'll just send a big wave to everyone and wish you all a great Memorial Day.

Thursday night I got to give my Quilt of Valor to a vet who recently returned home. I didn't know him and it turned out to be a little emotional for me. Such a young kid. I was expecting someone from Vietnam or older
0 -
Smaarty, Great quilt & handsome guy to receive it. Do you have a photo of the finished quilt before you gave it away?
0 -
There's a project in the NW to make quilts, sweaters and hats for babies being born in refuge camps in the middle east. Each one goes with a heart and the maker's signature. The women are thrilled and feel like they have not been forgotten. Each baby gets a box of supplies and the box is large enough to serve as a cradle.
0 -
Smaarty ~ Oooh....he does look so young. He also looks very happy! I'm sure receiving your beautiful quilt was emotional for him too. It will be a treasured heirloom that will be passed on. Just think of his children and grandchildren each hearing the story of the quilt.... how it was made by a kind lady he didn't know, to show the admiration, appreciation and respect for his service to our country. That young man will forever be wrapped in the love you stitched into the quilt. Beautiful!
Wren ~ Finding cradles for all the newborns would be a challenge.........What a loving and clever project!
0 -
Awwww Ms. Smarty, that is so sweet. I see silent love and sacrifice. Almost brought tears to my eyes. He is so young!! I would get emotional too if I were there.
Mommy, please thank your DH for us.

Very American!! Love it! Oh, I forgot to mention you look cute with the antler...goes nicely with your hair.
0 -
Smaarty ~ those are your Horns of the Valiant

Loverly ~ "silent love and sacrifice" perfect description<3 So happy all went well for graduation and everyone played nice. Teary eyed DH, so sweet, daddy loves his "little" girl
Can't believe college is so expensive out there....wow! Witnessing the drowning of your dad's friend when you were so little......words fail me. Such a terrible thing to happen. It must have been hard for you when DD1 started swimming. You're a brave mom to have encouraged her. You would like going to the beach with Marti - she doesn't like to let anyone go past their knees! Until he was 13 or so Marti would yank DS by the seat of his swim trunks to drag him back to shore. I have to keep an eye her - she'll even grab other people's little ones out of the water! M0mmy ~ it is so strange to think of Connecticut as being hot. The last time I was in MA for the 4th of July it was 57 degrees. I'll take the heat! Your camel made me laugh - hope you're not sloshing around lol
Lookie ~ Those wood floors are absolutely stunning! I hope you didn't do all that staining on your hands and knees... yikes! How is your doggie doing on the hardwood? We have little pathways of throw rugs all over the house so Marti doesn't slip 'n slide.
Purple ~ "no bad news is better than bad news" for sure. I agree with Loverly; the elevated protein is most likely part of the bone mets. (my totally qualified unprofessional opinion) Ugh. Waiting to see what happens...sux. I don't think "normal" people could handle living in cancer land where there is never a true solid answer for anything. You are here and able to wait an' see....that is always the good part
Hoping the best for you with your chemo and rad's. 0 -
smaarty..so sweet and beautiful
Wren, it's great what you are doing too
