Hi all, now to try and catch up with everyone.

JuneBug, so glad you are doing well after your surgery.

Susan, so glad hubby is getting better. Concussions are nothing to fool around with. Elena is absolutely adorable!

Shep, I am now using your FFH on my hubby. He's been a jerk lately and deserves that title as well. Hope you don't mind.

Wench, so sorry your surgery was pushed backed. But with all the info Sas has given you to read, you will be well prepared to discuss things with your doc.

    JWoo, good to see you.

Lover, looks like Mitzy had a fun vacation as well. Your telling us how she taught the other dog to howl reminded me of when DS was at the pediatrician's for a check up. The doc did the what does a duck say, what does a cat say and when he got to what does a dog say DS bayed. The doc asked him again what does the dog say and again DS bayed. Doc looks at me and I said we have a beagle, he doesn't bark. The doc laughed and said in all his years practicing it was the first time a patient actually mimicked his dog.

Sas, on the wedding front - cake would have to be by an outside bakery. I'm thinking of just going with the desserts supplied by the venue. Less stress. Sorry to hear that one of your glass pieces was broken. I remember when one of my crystal goblets broke. Wanted to be upset but just couldn't - it sounded lovely when it broke.

    Sorry for leaving anyone out.

    edited to correct spelling

Kathy, I think you are right to go with the in house cake. Less worry as you say. I haven't heard much about the wedding and they aren't posting any of it now on Fb as the preliminaries are done. What does FFH mean? Flying Fart? Frump fur? Fat fish? Anniversary #Four YAY!

Junie, My last hospital schtick was the same type of unit you are on. No one liked to float there, b/c the work was so much harder than the other floors. There were nights after the typical 13-14 hours that I'd have to be taken out the car in a wheel chair. Can you imagine seeing your nurse in a wheel chair? Hope all is well. You only have to see that unfriendly doc one more time.

Loverly & Shep another oddity of Dini is he lays down to eat. He just lays there smiling and wagging his tail.

Susan have a great day with the gathering. Elena 's a cutie. I love to hear stories of how kids names were chosen. Elena came about how?

    Everyone have a nice Sunday

Hi Sas, FFH (fart faced husband) is Shep's term of endearment for her hubby and I'm having to use it on mine. Venue does not do cakes, just dessert trays. It will be different but then again this shindig is different than most. It will be there friends and some of his family. We've chosen not to invite any local family from our side. My mother was the one to kowtow to them and I'll be damned if I continue it.

Susan best wishes for DH return to full health and for Elena's party. She looks like she is handling the stress of all those visitors just fine. Hope you are too. Hope next week chemo will be as easy on you as poss.

JazzyyJune best wishes for health and healing after your surgery.

    Susan3: (snorts of laughter) Sorry!

You didn't "invite yourself over for dinner". From what I remember, you a) wanted to see my kitties, b) wanted a brief respite from an [adjective redacted] situation and c) wanted something to eat in a more restful milieu than you'd had in aforementioned situation--we could have gone out for dinner.

    Thank you Kath & Feline!

Case Manager just left my room. She let me know that she has contacted the SNF I'd requested and that they would need to get back to her tomorrow to see if Medicare will allow me to go there once I'm discharged tomorrow.

Although you're encouraged to get up and move after surgery, if you walk more than a certain amount by yourself, Medicare will refuse to pay for a SNF stay.

I apparently walked more than 150 ft. twice yesterday and that may disqualify me for rehab.

Case manager will be getting back to me tomorrow.

I asked her if the fact that I presently have mets to my spine, plus had reconstructive surgery on my left hip before for chondrsarcoma, that that may help my circumstances. She didn't know.

Surgeon was just in to see me. He told me that during my surgery he had taken some tissue specimens and sent them to the lab for cultures. One has come back positive for bacteria. The fluids were negative, which is good. I may be here an extra day for antibiotic treatment.

Cultures will grow for 10 days to see if anything else shows up. If so I'll need a pic line for antibiotic therapy.

Well isn't that just a fine Howdy Doody! for you? Now I wait.

Doctor was very surprised himself. Said I was one of the last ones he'd think would have this outcome.

JunieB ~ Where did the bacteria come from? Was it introduced or already present? Grateful for the surgeon's thoroughness, so sorry there was something to find. Ack.... IMHO us Fibro folks should always have a round of antibiotics after any surgery..... even dental work. Our bodies need that extra boost to wipe out any nasties while our defenses are low. Amazing you are walking so much! Praying for your continued healing, comfort and for all to work out with the insurance co. 💗

Didja see Loverly left me alone last night ? She couldn't find me 😉 Ha!

Susan ~ Thinking of you and hoping DH is well. Was MRI this morning? Hope you both had time to rest up for the big soiree. Celebrations with our loved ones; good stuff 😃. May the coming week be kind to you and DH ((hugs))

Loverly ~ Mitzty made friends..... awwweee. Cute pics! Who knew she was a vocal coach?

Kath ~ Husband is being a doodie head? You may certainly call him a FFH. Only for mine it is neither a term of endearment nor a title. It is a known fact. He is a true fart face. The kids refer to him with the full name. My mom calls him FF. I usually use a different name,. I am too much of a lady to repeat it here! He wasn't always so bad...... I may have to put him down if he continues to decline. Fortunately I am not that attached to him. I'll just get a couple more cats and at least one more dog. (dang, now I'm getting my hopes up) Hope your fella straightens up soon! Love your story of DS doing his doggie howl ~ what a little smarty! Too cute 😆 Wedding plans sound so neat! The location, desserts and gathering of all the folks who really matter will make for such a special memorable day!

Oh there you are, ShepK. I have been looking all over for you. So naughty!

imageSusan, hope Dan's MRI report is normal and that people will help clean up after the party so that you are not stuck doing it alone. You need the reserved energy for this week. Elena is changing....such a cutie pie.

Ms. Sas, I found the sitter through Rover. We had a "meet and greet" at her home to see how Mitzy would react to her and her Shepherds before I placed Mitzy with her. Mitzy is terrified with kennel setting. I hate the thought of leaving her in a place where she is locked up the majority of time and there is constant barking from other anxious dogs. It's a reminder of the shelter, where she was for at least 3 weeks. She was surrendered by her previous owner. We worried she will shut down again as it took her awhile to trust us. I thought she would do better in an in-home setting. Really happy that she bonded really well with the sitter and her 11 year old son. This morning I teasingly told Mitzy that she is a spoiled dog as I was peeling the apple skin for her. DD respond was "Mom, it makes up the bad experiences she had the first year and a half of her life." Who knew what happened to her prior to coming to us. Our hope is that she will be a normal happy dog and she will understand that not all little people are a threat including the ones in the stroller. Dini eats lying down? Ha! The only time Mitzy does it is when DD2 is nearby. I think it's her way of guarding her food.

Kathi, love the story of DS at doc's office. I had a good chuckle.

Mommy, is DH out of the cast?

Sensi, can't wait to meet you. Wish I could meet Chance too.

JunieB, sounds like you have a thorough surgeon. Good thing he (or is it she?) caught it. I wonder if that is standard and what cause him to test the removed tissues. Hopefully, the antibiotics take care of the bugs and that you will not have to be on it too long. You know that ShepK is a handful. She ain't no Southern Belle I have in mind . Can't keep up with her. She continues to surprise me.

I have been thinking about Mags,HiHo, Eeyore, Fregea, Simplicity, and gosh what is the respiratory therapist nurse's name and our other lurking friends.

Infectious disease docs came back and explained that the bacteria (Bacillus) is only present in the one culture specimen of the 7. Despite this, there is no evidence, even microscopically of any actual infection yet.

So they are trying to determine whether to take a watch and see approach or go ahead and treat me as if an infection is imminent.

At present I am on an broad-spectrum I.V. antibiotic every 8 hours and they may decide to give me a short term big gun antibiotic like daptomycin. Still waiting to hear back on that.

I am sharing this info mainly because one day one of you could find yourself in this boat and it might be a good point of reference.

Loverly - It seems that this surgeon does a tissue culture on all of his patients. Probably since they are all cancer patients. He is an Orthopedic Oncologist.

Shep - That has got to be one of the cutest little fur-faces I've seen recently. Awwwwwww! Thanks for that.

Also, if you're gonna hide, you need to get behind a full length curtain or whatever. Shoes peaking out will give you away every time you little rascal.

Surgeon left a little while ago. The drains are coming out, hopefully I'll get a shower, then I'm being booted outta this joint. Just waiting to hear if I get to go to the SNF or have to go home.

Infectious disease docs. determined that a 6 week course of Cipro bid (tiwice a day) is all I need at this point. And they will be following my progress. I have my post-op appt. on the 20th. Otherwise I feel pretty good and am ready to bust outta here.

Shep - Cute pic of Marti hiding behind the T.P. My advice stands for her too. Of course I can't believe she'd get into any mischief.

Susan - How is DH? How'd the party for Elena go?

    Hi Loverly - Nice pics.

Sensi - Glad you get to go to lunch on Friday. Have a fun time. Your Chance is going miss having his Mama at home when you go back to work, but it'll probably feel good to you to get in the swing again.

I'll be checking back in. Bye for now Ladies.
